UPDATED 6/5/14 VANLADYLOVE NEWS!!!! Only FIVE More Days Until Sister Wives: Comparing Big Love and Sister Wives

Only five more days until Sister Wives new season premieres on TLC!

I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane, so I've dragged out two old postings I wrote comparing Kody and Bill and their mothers.

Enjoy!

Big Love and Sister Wives: Comparing Bill H. with Kody B.

KODY BROWN…
BILL HENRICKSON…

Is a reality show polygamist with 4 wives.
Was a fictional polygamist with 4 wives (one wife left him)

Use to live in a big house. wives now live separately in 4 houses on 4 different streets, but hope to purchase 4 adjacent homes in a cul-de-sac that will share a common backyard.

His wives live separately in 3 adjacent houses that share a common back yard, but hopes someday to move all his wives and children into a big house.

Was a sign salesman. Currently works in an unknown capacity for a MLM company.

Was a businessman, owned 2 retail stores called HomePlus.

Third wife Christine Allred is the granddaughter and grandniece of 2 leaders of the AUB, a polygamous religious group.

Second wife Nicolette Grant was a daughter of the prophet of a polygamous religious group located in Juniper Creek Utah.

Refuses to discuss the subject of his sex drive or if he has to use Viagra to keep up with his wives sexual  needs.

Has to use viagra to keep up with wives sex drive.

Extremely autocratic in his approach to his family and wives.

Extremely autocratic in his approach to his family and wives.

Wives gave him a gun for Christmas.

Right after giving birth to his 17th child Sol, Kody's wife Robyn offers to be a surrogate for Meri.

Gave his wives guns for Christmas (season 5)

When Nicki discovers she has unexplained infertility, 3rd wife Margene offers her eggs to be implanted into Nicki. Nicki declines, saying (among other things) she didn't want to give birth to one of Margene's big headed babies.

Drives a $60K Lexus sports car while his wives drive clunkers that were falling apart (seasons 1-3). Kody's Chevy Suburban blew an engine on the way to Wyoming in season 2.

Drives a $60K GMC Denali while his wife Barb drives a well maintained but extremely ancient Ford LTD station wagon.

Big Love and Sister Wives: A Brief Comparison Between Matriarchs

Here's a brief comparison of the grandmothers of Big Love and Sister Wives.

Yes, I know Lois and Adaleen are fictional characters, but they do present some common characteristics with  Genielle; mainly hospitality and love of family. Well, perhaps Lois not so much on the hospitality.

Anyway, one thing for sure, they certainly love their children, although I don't think Adaleen nor Lois would be as kind as Genielle if their son tried to eat half of her breakfast.

Genielle Brown
Lois Henrickson
Adaleen Grant

First wife of Winn Brown, mother of Kody Brown. Has 2 other sister wives.
Second* wife of Frank Harlow, mother of Bill Henrickson. Had 5 other sister wives (one deceased).
Sixth wife of Juniper Creek’s prophet Roman Grant, mother of Nicolette and Alby Grant. Had 13 other sister wives.

According to Kody, his mother would “fall on her sword for me.”
Sliced off the right arm of Hollis Greene with a large serrated knife when he dared to put a hand on her son Bill.
Conspired to have son Alby murdered in a rest stop men’s room. (Tap...Tap...Tap)

Was LDS, and converted to fundamentalism when Kody was in his teens. Was later excommunicated from the LDS church while Kody was on his LDS mission. Her sister wife Sheryl is Kody’s wife Janelle’s mother.
Lois’ father Orville Henrickson was prophet of Juniper Creek who died under mysterious circumstances. He was succeeded by his accountant, Roman Grant.
Adaleen has a complicated family tree. As she explains:“I'm 32 out of 56 children. And when I married Roman, I became my own step grandma as my father married Roman's daughter Faylene.   When I had Alby, he became my great uncle and I became his great great grandmother. Which of course makes me my own grandmother." Not to mention she also married her daughter’s ex-husband J.J.

Had problems with jealousy when Sheryl joined the family. As she puts it “I took care of kids and Sheryl took care of Winn.” Later, she got to know Sheryl better, and now considers her one of her very best friends.
Was notorious for her ill treatment of her sister wives. Of the concussions her sister wives suffered at her hands, she explained  "The Principle brings up our jealousies for the purposes of healing."
When Adaleen was asked how she could stand a particularly loathsome sister wife, she replied “I love her, and we are all equals. But last night I did dream I was trying to push her out the car  while driving along at a pretty quick clip.”

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING ALMOST ENTIRELY DIFFERENT....

We are all aware of those creepy tweets from Meri about the Browns favorite house band (literally) VanLadyLove.

Today, Meri outdid herself in the creepy tweet department with this one...

Can't wait to share? Exciting project? SPENT MANY HOURS WORKING?

What the heck is going on in that cul-de-sac?

I think I found a piece of the puzzle. It seems VanLadyLove is a band on the move...literally headed for the big time!

Guess who's taking part (if not all) of the credit for bringing VanLadyLove to the masses?

Yep, you got it...

Here's a short excerpt:

One person in particular related to its songs: the star of TLC's Sister Wives, Kody Brown. He happened to be in the crowd at one of its shows in Vegas and came up to the band after the concert to talk about an opportunity he had on his show. A few months later, the band was filming a scene for the series. [...]
Now that they've earned enough attention to be featured as a New Music Seminar Artist on the Verge, the band has come to a crossroads as it begins its first full-length album.
Isn't that a bash in the head? Anyway, here's a link to the rather short article that gives some answers to the questions who this band is, where it's from and how it came up with it's name.

VanLadyLove: New Music Seminar's Artist On The Verge Takes Its Electro-Folk-Pop Sound From Utah To NYC

Many thanks to CPA Carol for bringing Meri's tweeting about this to our attention a few days ago.

  1. yeah, that was a particularly obnoxious moment, even for Kody.

  2. Cynical Jinx, I gotta hand it to you--huge props for creativity. How about a blog post that juxtaposes the Henrickson wives with the Brown wives? The Ana--Robyn comparison might be a bit difficult, but if you mix them all up instead of comparing based on sequence, I see some hilarity in all our futures! Thanks for the laughs--I needed them today!

I can't even wrap my head around this. How often do people in this community actually marry someone they AREN'T related to? Seems like it would be nearly impossible with not enough wives to go around.

  4. I think Kody's mother is the base of so many of his personality problems and why he feels free to treat women the way he does.

  5. So many weird similarities between the 2 shows, what are the odds! Barb driving a beat up old wagon always bugged me, I loved when she bought the mini cooper at the end and rocked out in it.

One big difference is that Bill was actually good looking and had an age appropriate hair cut. I could see why the wives were attracted to him. Another big difference is that Bill busted his butt at a real job to support his entire family. Meanwhile, Kody sells green goo and calls it a day. Also, none of the wives were overweight lol.

  6. Here's something to think about. How does a Mormon woman handle a husband with a roving eye? She embraces fundamental Mormonism, and her husband happily follows her.

    3. I've been reading the archives of my favorite TWOP threads this week, via the Wayback Machine (archive.org). Right now Bio is re-running one of my favorite snarkable shows "Downsized". If you think the Browns are obnoxious/clueless, you gotta see the Bruces sometime as the mom whines about how she needs her $5.00 Starbucks "Coffee drinks" for her MS.

      Delete
    4. I do agree that TWOP Howard was a PITA, but it was more than made up by the thoughtful, amusing, well written posts on those forums. And I did appreciate the fact that they nixed stuff like long embedded sigs, etc. Thanks goodness for the Wayback Machine - so many of those threads were too good to just vanish into the stratosphere.

    5. Funny... I have MS too and thought I was the only one. I cannot afford Starbucks except as a treat but when I do indulge, I have more energy for a few hours anyway. They do have MS meds for "energy" but they do not really work. LOL.

      Delete
    6. Ya but she could get the same buzz if she made her own coffee drinks...I do that now but I still go to Starbucks most days, I only have myself to support and I enjoy the interaction as well :)

    7. At least she actually worked. She was the only steady income. Todd didn't do a darn thing. You only saw him ordering the boys around shoveling gravel. They never looked like they lived there. In fact TWOP had someone do snooping and there was actually a house bought in her name. Not crazy sized. But it was so for show. The daughter went right back to cheerleading. Him requiring the kids suddenly to give him $1 for toilet paper, and $5 to sleep in the house to teach them the value of a dollar and that awful cook off was just too much. On the one hand they owed the kids money. Then the one kid sells a glove so they can make their rent. The next episode they are taking away his phone, for not working for Todd who is just standing there and the kid pays his own phone plan and they owe him another $100 for rent besides. What really made no sense was that they were sitting down to a feast for breakfast after church. Short $100. These people are not worried about rent. The only indication Todd worked was when he went to urgent care with a nail in the foot. Why wouldn't a guy have proper work shoes? She gave the kids $20 for dinner for 9. But then she said it had to be done in 30minutes and they couldn't. Utilize pasta. The time restraint pretty much means reheating rice. Rice went from $1 to $5 with that rule. What made no sense is it looked like the family had it together for meals. Using a crock pot for drumsticks and a reasonable amount of food on the table. It was a large family. I don't know why they played ignorant. Or why they got so upset about the smell of vinegar for cleaning. That is another reason it didn't hate the coffee. She is just glad she can move every morning she wakes up. Not only is she holding down a stable full time job she is doing manual labor cleaning and tutoring besides. She forgot she got a thousand dollar bonus and randomly used it to buy clothes? That was goofy. The youngest doing activities. They could really have highlighted some inexpensive things that the parks and other places do for kids besides the $150 month tuition doing cheer or gymnastics or a traveling team. The kids outshined the parents. The pattern in all reality tv.

    8. DakotaJustice, I know people were archiving entire forums but I wasn't clear on how they were doing it. So you can find it in The Wayback Machine? Which I've heard of but never used. I will try to figure it out, but if there's anything you think would help I'd really appreciate it. There were so many forums I didn't have time to read. I'm having TWoP withdrawals too. :'(

  10. I do not get Kody's fascination or need to take his children's, his wives' or his mom's food from their hands and eat it. I wonder if it is a marking thing like he is marking his territory by freely taking food from them as if he is an extension. Or, is it an ownership thing where he feels that anything, even food, is his for the taking. Small babies will move from one family member to another looking for food or reaching their hands out for a bite; dogs and cats will do that too but they are begging; however, when a grown man walks around just eating food from the plates or hands of his family, there's definitely something sick about it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous 10:40 I agree with you. I have a male relative who is constantly eating other people's food--it's a gross habit, IMHO, and he's a real "Lord and Master" kind of guy. Among his siblings he's also got a reputation as the family bully, and his wife and kids tiptoe around in fear of setting this guy off. He's got a quick temper and can be verbally abusive to those he thinks will tolerate his shenanigans. Needless to say, family gatherings are much more fun (and much less stressful) when this guy's not around. Could Kody's behavior be a subtle way to control his family?

    2. It;s bad manners and low class to eat other peoples food. When kody ate spoonfulls of his kids moc tapioca the looks on the kids face was sad. Their dad pigged out on their food treat and did not even ay thanks, then he ate his moms breakfast..pig

    3. I wonder why the Brown's don't celebrate anniversaries together like the Hendricksons did.All of the wives did marry each other, right?

      Delete
    4. The Hendricksons are not real. Big Love is fiction.

      Delete
    5. I know the Hendrickson's are not real. I know this. I was referring to the fact polygamist marry each other for eternity, they said this when they married Robyn The Darger's have said it also. They are all married for eternity. If the Brown;s would talk about their religion and how it brought their family together it would help.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous 7:05 brings up a great point--I wish the Browns, or the Dargers, or the Williamses, or any of the "out" plural families, would talk about the spiritual discernment that goes on when (a) they decide to practice plural marriage, and (b) how they decide whom to bring in as a subsequent wife. Calling their practice a "lifestyle choice" when they do it as a religious practice doesn't help society at large learn anything that might help these families live publicly without fear of stigma or persecution.

  11. Yahoo! I found you guys! :)

While I've spent an enjoyable few days catching up, right now I have one comment that I just have to make: Am I the only one who notices a resemblance between the needy Genielle and Sobbyn? I can see Robyn looking a lot like the Kodster's mom in the not-so-distant future...

Which also makes me wonder what the codependent Genielle looked like 20 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Genielle looked the same 30 years ago except she had dark hair and less wrinkles.

      Delete
    2. Haha! I imagine that a 30-year age transformation would involve quite a change in appearance! Of course that would also involve the simple "less gray hair, more wrinkles"! lol!

    3. There aren't a whole lot of AUB families - odds are they could be related in some way, even if distantly.

    4. I think Kody's mom is a sweetie. From what I've seen, I kinda like her. I don't get that same vibe with Janelle's mom. A woman coming to check out the plyg family her daughter is marrying into and then ends up marrying the daughter's future father-in-law. That is too crazy! Normal for plygs, I know. But Sheryl wasn't a plyg, and she was older and educated at that ... I guess I see Genielle differently because she seems like the kind of gentle woman who was just ruled over by a hard man and would do anything for him. I guess I feel sorry for her. When she married Winn, they were not plygs.

      Delete
    5. @Andrea, I think you may be on to something with this. Wonder if Kody's mom is passive-aggressive too?

  12. I think this little matrix you've created shows how accurate Big Love was in its portrayal of polygamy. I also think the similarities in plot lines to Sister Wives is not an accident. I think Kody dreams about being Bill Henrickson in real life and lives his life accordingly. I would be interested in seeing a comparison of the AUB to creepy Juniper Creek.

  14. It is fascinating (and cringe-making) how you can see the plyg dynamic, even the Big Love fictional one, set up of the Lord/Master with his diverse but ultimately obedient stable.

And even though Hollywood did Big Love, the back story on that was that the inspiration for the show came from the Darger's book, right?
Someone in the production/writing of BL had to have done a fair amount of Plyg research on the "not so bad versions that it shows easily" and on the really ugly hardcore sects.

Not only are the comparisons fun to see, they also do serve to show people how insidious and similarly destructive the Plyg dynamic of *master & syncophants* is in any plyg family.

Master for master, wife for wife, drama for drama.......they are more alike than not.
What would be fun is to spot the differences.
Like those chessey identical pictures in the rag-mags...the ones where you have to find the 8 differences between the two "alike" pics.....lol

  15. Speaking of other old reality shows, my all time fave is TLC's Property Ladder. Kirsten Kemp was the emcee and every single show was a unique blend of total ineptitude and greed - the series was filmed/aired 2005-2007, during the RE bubble. TLC's best series ever IMO!

  16. Let's not forget the that the Henrickson's dilly-dally in gambling business, while the Browns...well, they moved to Las Vegas.

By the way, do the Browns gamble or have they been spotted slipping a dollar in a machine? Is that OK in their Kodyvillism?

  17. I know this is off topic, but I have seen in comments on previous posts something about a rant that Robyn went on about Hunter. Can someone explain what this was?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hunter not only wasn't overjoyed to have meddling, complaining, know-it-all Sobbin as a new Mommy,.and that came out somewhat on their camping trip back in the day.......

Hunter was also clear about the fact that he was not in favor of yet another Kody-spawn joining the ranks of Kodyworld. He felt there were enough kids in the family. Sobbin was offended (sniff, sniff) and made an issue about Hunter's reaction.
The poor kid became "a topic."

So the night when King Sol made his appearance and everyone was expected to stand bedside, oohing and ahhing....Sobbin made a point of singling out Hunter to come close and pay adoration to King Sol as retribution for his unfortunate faux pas of being honest..and..more practical than any of the adults.

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Amused! Such quick service.

    3. I like Hunter, it must be hard being a teenager and already being smarter than all 5 of your parents.

      Delete
    4. I just rewatched the episode that Robyn has Solomon and insists that Hunter hold him. Hunter seems to be using real world logic to defend why the Browns don't need more children. Logan emphasizes that this is Robyn's first child with Kody, while Mariah slams Madison for her differing opinion. The Brown adults subscribe to their religion, and even when times get tough, they refuse to waver in their commitment to their faith. Logic and religion have little to do with one another, and it seems Hunter and the Brown adults will never see eye to eye.

This obsession of hers is bordering on scary or mabe even crimal stocking. These guys better take notice of this there is a fine line between flattering and mental. I think meri is pushing the the envelope so to speak. For a middle aged married woman with a grown child . I can't believe the effort she has put into being a psychotic groupie!! 19. I just watched the first episode of "Sister Wives" on Netflix. I loved it....right until the end where they all meet to talk about the addition of Robyn to the family. That interaction was the first time in the show where the wives actually seem uncomfortable with one another (foreshadowing!!). It's such a shame how the dynamic of this family has changed. Meri, Janelle, and Christine seemed so at ease with one another, and even Kody seemed likeable (ewwwwwww!). Now when I watch the show all I see is the disdain and hostility among the adults. So sad.

    1. I agree with that as well. Meri can say what she wants about Robyn being with them from the begining and not causing the dysfunction. We all know that that's a load of you know what.Is it just me or did you notice how much Janelle spoke on the couch interviews. Some where along this train wreck she lost her voice. I believe In order to keep her sanity she finally zoned out. I like her but don't quiet understand why she defends kody so much. Even a beaten down dog will defend its owner till the end.

    2. 'Is it just me or did you notice how much Janelle spoke on the couch interviews.'

I didn't notice this until you posted it...but you are SO RIGHT. Janelle was extremely chatty during the first season. To me she is the most complex of the sister wives, and I found her points of view very enlightening. The other thing I find striking about this first season is how VERY CLEARLY Christine (and to some extent, Meri) expressed their concerns about Robyn joining the family. Christine is very up-front with Kody about her fears and jealousy. And she calls him out about the amount of attention he is showering on Robyn, to the detriment of the other wives. Funny how that has been completely forgotten, and now even Christine believes that she somehow "deceived" the family and "mistreated" poor Robyn.

    5. The only reason I think the first 3 wives agreed to Robyn joining the family was because of the show. No Robyn meant no show or just a few specials. I wonder if the wives regret that decision now?

      Delete
    6. As for Janelle speaking more in the beginning, you are so right. Her identity was so tied up with her job and supporting the family that I think she is lost right now with no real career. She has had to evaluate her life and family in the past couple of years, and who knows what she really thinks? It is clear her kids are not on the polygamous path or thrilled with the family situation. One thing is for sure, Janelle is crazy about her Kody and doesn't want to admit that she may have made a big mistake marrying him.

      Delete
    7. You half to admit Janelle has some pretty great kids. Strong willed and strong minded. She should really be proud of them. Not quiet sure were these traits came from.Given the situation that they were raised in, and the circumstances that they have had to deal with. Mabe all the years of Janelle and her strong work ethic. Being the responsible one of the bunch. I believe your right that she has been lost and searching for her identity in the family now. She has kind of had to rediscover her place. I do think she might have had to reevaluate if she made a mistake staying with kody. But obviously she has concluded that he is the one for her.(and the other 3! Ha ha)

      Delete
    8. I just watched the first episode. WOW! How much has changed, and not for the better! It seems to me that the Brown appeared much happier before Sobbin "my puuurrrity" Robin slid her way into this family.

As the years go, you can see the strain on all characters, including the kids.

    9. Kody and Janelle grew up in the LDS world. Familiar with public speaking and were the perfect mouthpieces to explain why they are no longer like the rest of us. Christine and Meri grew up in the lifestyle and it was hidden. No idea what make Robyn so secure, maybe cause she lived monogamy and was not successful for her? But I can see why Meri and Christine were not the heavy talkers at first.

    10. Meri was also LDS growing up until her parents converted so there goes that theory.

  20. "New Music Seminar Artist on the Verge" doesn't mean diddly squat really, it's just a contest held in conjunction with the seminar which is basically a convention where attendees pay to hear discussion/lecture topics by various people in the music industry. From reading the article, they made such a point about Kody featuring them on "his show". I'm guessing that Kody is hoping for a kickback of some type SHOULD the band actually hit the big time. Although as I've said previously, even without SW exposure, they aren't doing too badly for a regional band since they are apparently able to gig pretty regularly.

I wouldn't be surprised if it came out that Kody is trying yet another new career as "band manager". good luck on that. LOL

    1. And......how chivalrous of Kody-boy to let Meri be his shill and mouthpiece on Twitter.
If it was Kody who approached the band with the brainstorm (scam) of having them play at the "Should-be Committed" Ceremony, then why wasn't he doing the suck-up tweets ??

He is SUCH an attention whore !! But obviously he doesn't want it to be publicly known until it actually "works." Better to let Meri look like nutty middle-aged groupie until something actually comes of it. (as in getting HIS name attached in an article)

      Good call, DJ....
Yeah, right !!! Kody Brown, "Band Manager/ Agent Extraordinae" !!

    2. I'm hoping VLL is smart enough to drop Kody like a hot potato (sorry, I'm hungry) before they get in too deep with him. All they need to do is take a good look at his track record to see a troubling pattern of failure after failure after failure.

Kody is famous for one thing, having a reality show. I can only think of one personality who actually (sort of) made it rich off from reality and that's Bethanny Frankel - although she is now mired in a very nasty divorce/custody fight right now. Anyway, I'd rather have Bethanny as my manager because that woman HUSTLED her a$$ off.

Surely VLL is smart enough not to get too involved with Kody and his Kodettes©...

    5. Amused, again having spent so much time in the music world (or at least on the periphery of said world) there is no shortage of people who feel they can be a "band manager" or "band agent". But what does Kody and Ko. know about the music industry?? diddly.

Again, as I've said, VLL seems to be doing okay as an unsigned regional band (they do have a couple of EPs and some singles on iTunes, which really means nothing as pretty much any band/entity can sell their music there without the benefit of a label). It is NOT easy to break into the big time. getting about 3 minutes of airtime on a third-rate reality show and being tweeted about by some reality TV "stars" that most people in the US haven't ever heard or and/or don't care about isn't going to make them Maroon 5.

I listened to some of their iTunes stuff and a big percentage is covers of other artist's hits. I can see why a certain segment of listener would like them, but to me they are just saccharine and boring, sounding like a lot of other bands. But who knows...

      Delete
    6. DJ do you think VLL may have succumbed to Kody's and Meri's hype that they are the next big thing?

Oh I just had a terrible thought...what if they are going to offer VLL music downloads on MSWC (like with Trainer Sean's video). Is it even possible?

      Delete
    7. "But what does Kody and Ko. know about the music industry?? diddly.'

      Yep !!
Ditto on how much any of them knew about jewelry, Internet selling and marketing !!

      Delete
    8. Who knows...I think like any other band/musician trying to get exposure, they're just happy for the attention. They also probably already have a booking agent.

      Delete
    9. If only VLL could realize that having a bunch of classless klowns like the Browns endorsing them is not exactly hitting "the big time!" In fact, given the tacky image of Kodyworld, it could diminish their potential star power.

That would be like a wannabee high-fashion designer having Walmart as their exclusive representative.

      Delete
  21. I still think there is jealousy over this band. Robyn used to tweet and say it was her and kody's band and favorite songs..she was jealous when meri had them in her house performing..

    ReplyDelete
  22. I always KNEW there was something in it for the Browns since they were tweeting ridiculously about this band. Like I love the Eagles, but I don't sit around tweeting about them. (ok, I am aging myself). So this makes sense to me, they are using the band to make some sort of money for themselves. But what kind of collaboration would they be doing? I doubt anyone would go to MSWC to download any VLL songs....Have any of the wives (or Kody) professed to be a singer? They can't possibly be their managers, they can't even manage their own lives. Are they writing songs about the unique 'love' of the family? I can't wrap my head around a scenario that makes sense.

    2. Well there is plenty of room in her big mansion and she is alone 3 out of 4 nights so maybe he should move in with her. Heck, the entire band has room to move in with her.

  26. I imagine Robyn is seething over this. Meri ditched Sol and MSWC to be a groupie/mouthpiece/professional tweeter. There's gonna be some tears over this on the couch sessions.

  27. I looked back at some comments on the VLL page and someone wanted to know where they could get a tee shirt. They replied that it would be revealed soon, they have an online store they are collaborating with, betcha it is The Browns!

  28. Being that the new season for SW debuts Sunday......
And being that the filming for the season is probably, as the saying goes, already in the can.....save for any last minute editing....
With all this current buzz about VLL *collaborating* (sorry but that term just cracks me up in its absurdity when applied to anything with KodyKlown).....guess the producers are going to have to shift around the episodes and scenes to allow for this *breaking news.*
May even include new film of Meri swooning and hot flashing at the latest VLL concert.

Geez...as much airtime as TLC has put into the trailer of the two of them weeping and fretting, it may even knock off Meri and Sobbin's standoff about college down to a lesser status.
Sobbin's pitiful "What am I going to doooo now" forlorn look at the camera may change into "How the hell am I going to pack all these damn VLL T-shirt orders" !!

  31. I wish the Brown;s would talk about their religion more. Explain their relationships and how they see themselves and their families in the afterlife. Are they still as involved with the AUB as they were before the move to Las Vegas? If they are drifting from it, is that a source of their drifting relationships? Do they still tithe the church?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I thought the AUB told the Browns not to talk about their religion in detail. I don't believe they are independents like the Dargers even though they say they are. They just can't discuss their religion.

      Delete
    2. I am thinking that they aren't as involved with their church as they once were. I highly doubt they are tithing.

      Delete
    3. I, too, would find it very interesting to have the Brown's directly address their religion. Are they still even having home church? How are they handling their children not wanting to follow into, polygamy. Can't they discuss more of their religion without mentioning AUB? This is obviously a very religious choice and not just "a lifestyle" as they like to present it.

      Delete
  32. I read in one of the first interviews the Brown's did when the show first aired that The Brown's and TLC agreed not to discuss their religion and that they would refer to it as a lifestyle. It was Kody's wish, so maybe the AUB was part of that. There is outake footage of Sisterwives that has Kody referred to as their LEADER and references to religion that were not aired. Most of it was of Christine. I think if Kody thought talking about their religion would bring them more seasons and more money they would do it in a heart beat.

  33. I just don't understand why Christine wakes up EVERY morning asking herself whether she will be a "good sister wife" or "bad sister wife" that day. Do any of you do that---I mean wake up and ask, "Will I be a good wife/husband/whatever or bad wife/husband/whatever" that day? Who does that???? Shouldn't we all be waking up hoping to put our best self forward? That someone has to ask themselves that question every single day is just plain weird.

    1. I think Christine made that statement to point out to the public how much Robyn has ruined her life and camped her style. I bet Christine could care less about whether or not she is a good sister wife or not.

      Delete
    2. The first thing I usually think when I wake up is, "Why the [bleep] are there never any donuts in this place???"

But I never scream it out loud, so I think that clearly puts me into the 'good wife' category. :)

As far as Christine goes, my opinion is that her comment is her passive-aggressive way of letting everyone know that she's unhappy. It seems like one of those ploys used to draw attention to herself without actually kicking the hornet's nest.

  37. I think she means "How will I react to certain people" or will I give "digs" about shit that bugs me. It takes a lot of self restraint to not say every negative thought when dealing with people/situations that really piss you off. There are people in our lives that fit this category..if we are lucky we can avoid them day in and day out. She isn't so fortunate. None of them are. Hey..they chose this. But I think Kody and Meri snuck Robyn in kind of...by the time C and J found out...they were in a bad position to squash it.
I've been watching some old episodes..why?..who knows? But Miss Perfect Robyn, who only wanted to please everyone,be accepted,be valued..to the point of ass kissing the wives... and "pushed" Kody to remember to call home..boy has she changed. Once she became a wife...to hell with how anyone else feels about her position as "favorite wife"... totally their problem.Rubs it in their faces even. She's a duplicitous phony who latched on to the Brown gravy train. And really Robin?...you'd let your kids leave if they were unhappy...put your children first!! She has one kid that really matters to her...he cements her place "in this family".
    I did have a laugh at the wives "singing all the old hits" during these repeats;
    Janelle: Finite Resources
    Christine: I'm not special
    Meri: Baby..Baby..Baby
    Robyn: whine...cry...oh poor me!!
Sorry for this long disjointed rant..if you are still reading..God Bless!

    1. Honestly, I think once Kodouche decided to "marry" Sobbin' Robyn, there wasn't much C and J could do to stop it. Of course, they could team up and threaten to divorce Kodouche if he were to follow through, but we all know they have ZERO spine. Besided, in order to be allowed into heaven they have to stay married to Kodouche until the day they die.

Regarding Sobbin' Robyn, the only reason she married Kodouchy is the $$$. If they didn't get to have this show, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't lure in Kodouchy sexually into marrying her (don't believe for one second there was no hanky panky before there "marriage").

      Delete
    2. I so agree that they couldn't stop it. I hate how Kody claims that he needed all the wives blessing. I cry BS on that,Christine pretty much came out and said it was all but decided without her. Good point on the heaven aspect..they have too many years invested in this shitshow of a marriage to walk away now. No private planet for them!!
Robin was definitely keeping Kody interested with her womanly wiles(Blech)..she chased after him for a kiss when he was leaving for the hospital to be with Christine. Robyn came off as desperate in the beginning. She was a loser and ate up all the attention paid by the creepy combo of Kody and Meri. Plus she was banking on help with her needy children. Meri lured her in with visions of built in babysitters..she still resents that it didn't happen that way.

      Delete
    3. "Regarding Sobbin' Robyn, the only reason she married Kodouchy is the $$$."
      Totally agree, Lobotomized !!

And they would never have had a show if she didn't agree to be the spoiler. So the whole thing has been a cluster ** from the very beginning.

Kody and Sobbin are a perfect match.
The both are class A opportunists !!
Except that Sobbin *will* look for another goldmine when /if Kodyworld Enterprise crashes and burns once the show has officially jumped the shark.

Whereas the other three will just stay and be miserably happy "multiplying the misery."

      Delete
    4. No matter how much they downplay it or deny it, they do not live their "lifestyle" just because they think it is alternative, fun, wholesome or enjoyable (if they are trying to make that case they suck at it because they're miserable). The sole purpose of their "lifestyle" is to make it to (the highest level of) heaven. It seems as though they are willing to endure a lot in this life to get themselves a good spot in the next. No matter how much abuse and suffering they'll just go through with it. So being realistic, unless they are the favorite (first) wife, they have NO say in what Kodouche wants to do/does (we all know that he really despises C and J).

You are totally right that Sobbin' used her womanly wiles to keep simpleton Kodouche interested. It was so obvious. But hey, it worked for her, she got him to "marry" her and received a piece of the pie (McMansion anybody?). Too bad all the sister wives' benefits fell through (none really give a crap about her), no free babysitting, child rearing help etc
She is having a very tough time with her kids and it shows.
One thing that has me pondering though. Beyond the initial sexual attraction and booty calls & ego stroking for Kody... It seems that their relationship has sunken in and he doesn't seem to like Sobbin' all that much anymore. It has cooled off a lot. I think she's starting to feel like what it means to be a Christine.
Also, why isn't she heaving more Kodybabies?

      Delete
    5. So true, they don't give a crap about her. They have no interest in taking on her kids. Meri is in the next phase of her life..complete "me time" mode. Janelle didn't like watching her own kids..so she's out. Christine felt abandoned when she had Truely (rightly so,after years of being the built in daycare)and she hates Robyn, so she's out. The teens are not going to help the crazy witch. Robyn is on her own!! and yes..she is clearly struggling.Weaning that toddler would help. But her kids are hard to take.
I also see that the swooning has died down,he has a short attention span..and she grates on the nerves. Maybe he is over it. He will get "the calling" soon to take that 5th wife(more like the producers will suggest it in order to keep ratings up). He loves the spotlight so much, he doesn't want the $$ or the "fame" to end, so 5th wife is probably a reality.
I think Robyn will have another baby, it will probably put her right over the edge.
      Now that,I would watch!!

    6. In their book, I believe Kody wrote that Robyn told him that she was planning on entering into a courtship with an older man with money rather than him (since he "didn't have two nickles to rub together" or something). She changed her tune after the show became more of a reality. She also wrote something like thinking that the Browns parked their sports cars and convertibles outside their home to "impress her," and said her first impression of Kody was that he was probably an idiot. She has always come across as unabashedly money grubbing to me.

      Delete
    7. Absolutely !!!
Like any me/me egotist, Kody has the attention span of a gnat.
Sobbin may still be the preferred booty call, but like a kid who has played with a new toy long enough to get bored, he may still play with it now just for something to do.
That is, until something newer, less stretched-marked, less whiney comes along.
Which may never happen unless Mona can get yet another magic mortgage deal.

    8. Who knows, the calling for fresh meat may be so strong that he'll make #5 shack up with Meri, since Mariah spends most of her time in college and she doesn't have other kids anyways. Sharing her living quarters like a good, loyal and sweet plyg-wife.
Thinking again, though, since Meri has a lot of influence over Kodouches brain, she might convince him that #5 (childless) should shack up with Robyn! That actually sounds very plausable, and that is something I'll be watching.

      Delete
    9. That would be so funny if #5 has to live with Robyn. Just like when Ana had to live with Nicki and Nicki gave her the small drawer cabinet in the hallway to put her stuff. I can only imagine what Robyn would do (besides throwing a hissy fit).

      Delete
    10. Count me in as another person who thinks Kody isn't as into Robyn as he used to be. She is no longer new or exciting and she can't be the most fun to be around since it seems like her life is always in chaos. Plus, she doesn't cook. I see wife number 5 right around the horizon.

      Delete
    11. Seeing either Meri or Robyn have to take in #5 would be crazy funny! Meri is all alone with all those bedrooms that she just HAD to have..plus a must have in any home..the very necessary wet bar. Makeshift mini kitchen for new wifey? Karma for sure! Kody could force his will on any one of them..but he has legal rights to only one of the houses. Meri's! Oh Meri..another perk of being the all important legal wife.

      Delete
    12. I really don't see Kody taking a fifth wife, but if he did... I could see the new wife living in her own (rented) house away from the Kodysac. That way, Kody could flee the chaos and spend some quiet, quality time with #5 out of eyesight of the other 4.

      Delete
    13. I mean in all seriousness, once Kodouche gets the "calling" (from TLC to keep the show on the air or from his male parts), what is he going to do? Make her buy a mc mansion in the cuddlesac? Get her a house outside of the cuddlesac? Though the latter might be possible, I think it's way more plausible that he'll make her shack up with an existing wife. Even though Meri might be the most logical choice, she's the only one with some sort of say over Kodouche, so my feeling is she'll end up with Sobbin'.

Think about it, do you think Kody decided to get these mc mansions (I'm pretty sure it was his idea and he pushed it through) just for each wife by herself? I'm pretty sure he had in mind adding a bunch of other women. Hence all the extra rooms and space.
It's possible he didn't tell all of his wives about it though, but I think that's what he had in mind.

      Delete
  38. It would be funny, interesting and would get them very high ratings....
It also makes a lot of sense. I mean it's all fun and games having huge mcmansions for each wife but it is definitely not the norm in their community and unless booty #5 has serious $$$ I don't see them buying a mcmansion for her. Maybe after a while (if she brings in a LOT of $$) but definitely not from the start.
It's normal for plyg-wives to share homes, and once Kodouche is set on something, hiss urge/craving is satisfied. No matter how it'll affect his family (like him getting a Lexus convertible while his kids received food stamps).
