  2. The new episode hasn't even started yet and I'm already laughing at the live tweets! Thank you for having them appear in your livingroom Cynical Jinx....it's so much easier to follow them this way!!

  4. Holy cow! Kody has some scary anger issues!! I wish every episode was an episode with the family therapist. So. Telling.

  6. The tweets are more engaging than the episode! And hey, I just thought of this.... Meri going back to college doesn't mean she can't work. I had two jobs and two kids and made it work. She has... a wetbar...
Oh and can we send Grody a tissue, wah I'm not the leader, wah I NEVER get to make decisions (unless it is about what chair to sit in!)

  7. I think Meri's going back to college and getting a real job will bring much more income than the MSWC! Grow up Robin!
Thank you for posting the live tweet's CJ. I can't figure out twitter. I need a tutorial.

  11. I know I posted this on the other thread, but after watching 40 min of the show I'm even more baffled by the Brown's and TLC for that matter...Ok, these people make me nuts, I can't help but to think that this whole MSWC thing is nothing more than an elaborate plot devise...i really dont believe any of it...i do not think any of them really thought MSWC would support even one person let alone a family of 22. What really amazes me is that the Brown's (and whoever is producing the show for TLC) thinks this crap is interesting...the last time this show was interesting was when they were in Utah and we were watching them go about their daily lives...now, they are all disingenuous and unrelatable...I mean really, what are they going for here, a "real housewives of Las Vegas" meets "shark tank"? How about they take a page from Survivor and vote Kody off the island.

    1. That's exactly what I've been thinking this entire time too! They can't really be serious about MSWC, right? It's got to be for the show. The most interesting the show has been to me since they moved to Vegas was the day they spent following each wife.

    3. According to all the stats I've been reading, they aren't getting anywhere NEAR 15M hits a month.

"Mysisterwifescloset.com is ranked #843678 in the world, a low rank means that this website gets lots of visitors. Its primary traffic from United States and is ranked #287,577 in United States. It has more than 1 subdomains with traffic. It has 71 visitors per day, and has 142 pageviews per day."

Yup, all that info is tracked. I haven't seen the ep yet, but the Browns should know better than to just make up some lame-ass numbers.

    5. BUT...they quadrupled their sales from the first year to the second...

Ummmm....in other words, you sold 5 pieces the first year and 20 the second year.

    7. For the show, yes. They must have known they didn't have a hope in hell of getting $250, let alone 2.5 mil. What we saw last night was a put on entirely for the show.

      Delete
    8. Nice work, DJ. And, half of those hits may be spammers from Singapore or somewhere. Not sure how those stats are actually documented, but on some sites you can't even go by the actual stats you're seeing. They're usually way less.

" I fill like I rilly want clicks to turn into sells. Do we have a dill?"

  15. I'm shocked they've made that much off on the crap on their website. Of course numbers can always be skewed to show what you want and/or need them too.

Most of it looks like sell offs that you can pick up at any Dollar Store or Outlet Sale for $1.00 - $20.00. I think the majority of their hits is curiosity generated from the show and that most have absolutely no intention of purchasing anything they may be selling, especially when you see the quality and the prices!

    2. I agree. Any VC would have them provide all their Schedule C's, I would think.
I bet I know what they're thinking, they get $2.5M, pay off the houses, and piss the rest away.

      Delete
    3. Because, if their business is a plot device or a hobby, they won't care if the VCs take it from them... they'll spend the money they got and eventually file bankruptcy again. What's that word, again??

      Oh, yeah... grifters.

      Delete
    4. Because, if their business is a plot device or a hobby, they won't care if the VCs take it from them...
I absolutely think this VC is a plot device. I wouldn't be surprised if the principles involved were hired from central casting. BUT IF THIS IS REAL, I hope the Browns research this VC group thoroughly before signing on that dotted line. Kody said last week they shouldn't worry about losing their company...I think they SHOULD be worried and should make their business decisions accordingly. They could lose a lot more than their company. Do they really need $2.5 million? It sounds to me they are planning on using the money to payoff their houses and like DJ said, piss the rest away. Bad move.

they'll spend the money they got and eventually file bankruptcy again.
If this is real, I'm hoping the VCs final decision would be to walk away, because it's obvious the Browns, particularly Kody, does not have the business acumen to successfully manage their company to profitability. Look at what happened to Sonja Morgan of RHONY on Bravo. Her "production" company got involved in a movie deal (with John Travolta's company) that went sour, got sued and LOST. She filed bankruptcy, but she may lose her home to help satisfy the judgement.

Like Stan mentioned last week, the Browns are trying to play in the big leagues and they are in way over their heads. But I saw a tweet last week from Robyn's business mentor who mentioned to watch the show - there would be an announcement soon...so I'm assuming the VC will go bust and she will step in to save the day.

      Delete
    5. I personally think Kody is right. They SHOULDN'T worry about "losing their company" (by that I take to mean MSWC and not Brown Family Entertainment) because it's really not worth much anyway. IMO. In fact, they might MAKE money if they lose the company or the site or whatever, I'm not a tax person by any means but I figure they'd find some way of writing it off on their 1040 as a loss.

      Delete
    6. "I absolutely think this VC is a plot device. I wouldn't be surprised if the principles involved were hired from central casting."

I did a google search for Stan he has a somewhat questionable business reputation. As for the company ECASI - they dabble in everything from sports management to investments to promoting LV businesses. MSWC isn't listed as one of their projects - yet. IF the storyline is legit and IF the investors sink a bunch of money into MSWC, they're idiots if they don't insert their own people into the project to head it up and manage it. It should be glaringly obvious to even a casual observer that no one in the Brown family has the experience, let alone background to manage a business the size of what Kody and Co want funding for.

Kody made reference to the show 'Shark Tank'. I'd love to see them face the real sharks and be laughed out of the room. The sharks would chew them up and spit them out.

Or is all this mention of Shark Tank their way of "hinting" to ABC (that's the channel it's on right?) that they should totally have the sister wives on?

I can't believe what a jerk Kody is coming off as this season so far. Are the wives losing control of his outbursts on camera (think RV tantrum that he had)

No real answer. Stan says at very end they are lucky his partners didn't just get up & walk out. Lol. Most interesting and only thing even worth watching was Kodouche meltdown at the therapist session. This episode was seriously like a comedy that is written & acted badly on purpose to get you to laugh at the ridiculousness of it. And don't even get me started on the music. Next week doesn't look any better. The writers/producers have NOTHING more to give us?!

    1. I don't forsee the Browns being on TV in 2017, and without their show I don't think their business will get nearly as much traffic as it does now solely out of viewers' curiosity. I seriously doubt MSWC will still be in business in three years. I'm skeptical. I hope these investors have taken that into consideration. The only reason they have been as "successful" as they claim to be is because they are reality TV personalities. With no show for exposure/marketing, their crazed fans aren't going to buy their crap. Just a thought.

  20. Nope, he said it. I guess they didn't go for their half-assed pitch. The professionals who said through a whole lot of BS and crocodile tears as a favor were "too big for their britches." Good Ol' 'Midas Touch" Brown. But honestly, the juxtaposed footage of Kody talking about how awesome they were and what a fabulous job they did with Stan talking about how embarrassingly low quality their presentation was, and how they were lucky the investors didn't just walk out was probably my favorite few minutes of reality TV ever.

    3. I love how Kody says, "they're going to look at our education" when they consider investing in them. Huh? I'm pretty sure Janelle is the only one with a degree (correct me if I'm wrong) and Meri has some college but no degree. What about the other three? Do they think having no education beyond high school is going to be helpful to them?

I had to laugh at the comments Kody was making about the pitch after they went outside, versus Stan the investor's. Kody thinks they nailed it, but Stan sounded like he had to bribe the others to even listen to and humor these kooks. Not even on the same page whatsoever. I guess I should say, they're not even in the same book. I wish we could have seen the unedited raw footage of the entire pitch. I bet they left out some juicy stuff.

      Delete
    4. I think Janelle has an associates degree and Meri only finished about a semester. In her purity pity party Robyn mumbled something about "becoming that age where you're going to go to college" or something, but she didn't go And when Christine was studying for her real estate exam she complained "it's like being back in college!" but she also didn't go. So that's about 70 credit hours between Janelle and Meri...yeah, that's going to impress successful venture capitalists whom most likely have MBAs.

      Delete
    5. Thank u Anon 8:52! I don't think any of them even have a bachelor's, including Janelle. They love to embellish the truth. They should just leave out any talk about college or their education. Like you, I believe that if you add up the collective hours they've all taken, they still wouldn't have enough for a bachelor's.

I haven't seen the episode yet but I feel this is uncalled for. Is this sour grapes because he didn't get any money? Kody is such an ass and I am sickened by the constant ego stroking by his wives and delusional fangirls on social media. Ugh, ugh, ugh!

    2. She did have about 6 inches of cleavage showing and blue eye shadow. It wasn't pretty. However, her rather odd manner of dress for a business meeting was eclipsed by the Browns' completely embarrassing ineptitude! The lady from the 80s was still more professional than the Klowns!!!

      Delete
    3. Snarkaholic, that sounds dreadful! I can understand commenting privately on her looks but Kody shouldn't participate in publicly shaming this woman.

      Delete
    4. It was just sour grapes. This was the same, "too big for her britches" woman he was tweeting about. I think he's angry that a WOMAN, let alone a woman with cleavage, would question him.

      Delete
    5. That woman did look pretty bad though, really tacky dress and makeup. I wouldn't take her for a professional honestly. I felt kinda bad for the Browns, they aren't very educated and I think they try their best with these business ideas. What else can they do, really, but capitalize on their fame or go back to 40K a year with 17 kids.

      Delete
    6. He gave that woman crazy eyes when she questioned them so I'm not suprised he retweeted the cleavage comment as payback. He's so immature and creepy at times it's downright unsettling.

    7. Well she doesn't necessarily have to be a businessperson per se, she could just have a lot of $$ from whatever. What diff does it make how she dresses - she's one of the people holding the buckaroos. She's not pitching to THEM.

  27. It has not been revealed whether or not they got any money from the investors. Stan made the comments some of the other posters stated above...but there was no definitive yea or nay...so that part of the story is still being kept under wraps. If the investors have decided to invest I certainly hope the Krew had the good sense to run any arrangements thru legal counsel.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Kody said they had $180,000 in sales in 2013. They have anywhere from 2 million - 15 million hits on their website each month, but they only do an average of 500 sales per month. There is a big gap between hits and sales. They claim that they can close that gap if they have more capital because it will enable them to offer more products.

After the presentation, Kody said they hit it out of the park. Stan, the VC said the Brown's were lucky that the investors didn't walk out in the middle of the presentation.

    1. 180,000 in one year is way more then I would have thought they would make. They have some die hard fans, that is for sure.

    2. The thing is he SAID. Kody needs to back that he said with absolute proof. Tax returns and Schedule C.

      Delete
    3. I got the impression that was the amount they sold. When you take out the cost of the product to them, etc., they probably didn't make all that much.

      Delete
    4. 180,000 in sales is NOT 180,000 in profit....

      Delete
    5. And even with $180K in sales, that's still not their profit. They still have to pay the manufacturers, deduct supplies, etc. This is just a plot line. The closet is clearly a bust, and I hope they don't think embellishing the truth is going to make people excited to buy more stuff from them. You know how people see everybody wearing something, so all of a sudden they think they should too? Even if it doesn't look good on them or it's not worth the cost. Granted, it's usually teens or people with teenage minds who do this, but these are Brown fans we're talking about here.

      Delete
    6. I think that Kody was talking in Rupees, not USD.

    7. Was the 500 sales per month or total in 2013? I've read on other sites that it's per year, but here it's mentioned as per month.

And Janelle said they won't be able to repay until 2017. When was the last bankruptcy in the family and how long does one have to wait in order to file again? But the bankruptcy laws have changed a lot in the last decade; the wife that would file for bankruptcy would most likely lose their house, their fancy watches, any savings, etc. Of course, they do seem to have their money tied up in Disney Trip futures so I doubt there would be much for creditors to take anyway, so yeah, interesting point!

    2. I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) if they have an LLC or Corporation then their personal liability for the business is almost nonexistent. That means if the business fails, their personal belongings (including the houses) are safe. This is why mega-business can fail, but their owners and CEO's can stay rich.

SO perhaps if they did use the money for the houses, then let the investors take the business, the Brown's could actually get away with it all scott-free (just minus lame-o MSWC of course)

      Delete
    3. EV, the houses don't even belong to them really. They belong to the lienholders/mortgage holders whom I believe are the builders themselves. If it's true that the Browns purchased the houses on a 3 year interest only loan as has been bandied about then I'd guess there is little, if any, equity built up at this point. The "Company Car" is leased through LIV (the MLM that Kody belongs to that we haven't really heard diddly about lately) unless he bought out the lease.
They do have an LLC or company of sorts - Brown Family Entertainment. I've always figured that the TLC money is siphoned through it, and then divied up amongst the adults.

I'd imagine any VC worth his or her salt isn't just going to blithely throw money at the Browns without a full accounting of where the money is going. I wouldn't give $2.50 to the Browns, let alone $2.5 mil.

I think that's exactly what Kody had in mind. Play the system and get those houses & plyghouse for free. Plus a nanny for Robyn...

    5. Except that a VC will probably include a contractual provision that they can audit the books of the business. If they use MSWC investor money for personal purposes, that would be trouble.

    6. "EV, the houses don't even belong to them really. They belong to the lienholders/mortgage holders whom I believe are the builders themselves."

Hmmm that is true. I wonder if that means they would lose their homes, or if the limited liability protects the mortgage holders as well? I also wonder; as they are an internet based business, could they use their houses as Home Offices and get away with using the money to pay them off? In that case the houses are necessary business components. 2.5 Mil is such a suspicious number to ask for!

      Delete
    7. I'd think that the houses would be sold (good luck on that) then the lienholders would get what's still owed to them and if anything is left, then maybe the investors get it via the Browns. Although I don't think they need FOUR houses to run that "bidness". a spare closet should do just fine. Half a spare closet.

      Delete
    8. "2.5 Mil is such a suspicious number to ask for!"

2.5 million is a ridiculous amount to ask for. Especially when they don't even have a brick and morter business front (and no, having a few pieces of jewelry present in a few shops doesn't count).

      Can I restate this please?

2.5 million is an absurd amount to ask for! No one does this! Now if they asked for 20-30 thousand (roughly the amount of their on-hand capital) along with 5-15% ownership rights to each VC (and 100% ownership upon default of repayment of loan) they might have had a chance but an online (cheap) jewelry company just doesn't warrant 2.5 million.

I can't imagine any VC in their right mind would even show up to a meeting like this. Like Stan said: "They did it as a favor to me."

For the past 2 years we have heard Christine, Jenelle and now Meri tell Robyn that this is not "Their Dream" to have a jewelry business/boutique and that it is pretty much a hobby. Then to turn around ON TV and tell investors that they are all 100% in to this business to make it succeed....BS!

  35. Hi Anon @ 9:54... I often wonder if Kody is playing the part of "Kooky Kody" for the cameras, just for the sake of the TLC pay check (which a part of me would really understand), or if he really believes this stuff? I mean, a jewelry empire? Really? C'mon...one thing is for certain and that is all this venture capital nonsense is pure fiction. The Brown's history of repeated bankruptcies and other business losses play a big part in these decisions, these investors are investing in the Brown's themselves...and that is beyond risky.

That said, I will now answer your question. He was identified as Scott Acton, Business Consultant, Forte.

I suggest you google him if you want more information.

  38. last week, Robin was talking about not having anymore babies because she was doing too much "work" for MSWC and that's what they needed investors for, to hire help or whatever. Now this week they want 2.something MILLION for "marketing," (which, thanks to TLC, is the only part of MSWC they have down). How hard is it to stick to one BS storyline? It's like, their only job.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And seriously, 500 orders a month is only about 16 orders a day. That's what, an hour of work a day? Robin can't work a five hour work week with three of her children at school and the other being taken care of by a relative (and theoretically three other mothers and a father)? It's not hard to pack 16 little boxes a day. Hell, ship them in priority mail small flat rate boxes. It's only $5.80 to ship, the boxes are free and easy to assemble (don't even need tape), and a postal workers will come to your house for you and pick them up for free! They'll even bring you more boxes!

    3. Let's just say the 500 orders is true. What is the profit margin on those stupid charms. $1.00, $1.25? How do you pay for $2mm worth of houses with that? At that St. George thing, they needed to sell 120 pieces and they sold 10 or 15. Bring in a dump truck for all the cash because I'm sure they need for the bank deposit. These people.

    6. It sounded like 500 orders in the teaser before the commercial, but I thought Janelle clarified it to 500 a month? If it was 500 total then that how could they have made $100,000+? Each order is $200 profit? That seems highly unlikely. Surely the Browns would expect investors could do basic division. But if it is only 500 total, shoot, that's about what I do on eBay, and it's EASY.

    7. 500 sales per month? - unless they're counting the pieces sold in the retail shop in town, I can't see them being that busy to be shipping that many pieces/month - that's 6000/yr! I just don't see it. But who knows.

Sometimes I put on something I particularly love, and it makes me kinda happy (I'm talking about truly unique and pretty costume stuff like Holly Yashi: http://www.hollyyashi.com/other/best-sellers/secret-garden-earrings-HS10013.html). But when life is tough and challenging, trust me: it ain't my earrings that keep me going. And that would be exponentially moreso if I were wearing the CHEAP-LOOKING crap for sale at MSWC.

The only jewelry that comes close to even illiciting the level of emotion Robyn speaks of is a silver ring I wear every day. And obly because it belonged to my recenly deceased mother. I just don't see a piece of discount junk jewelry doing the same.

-Ol' Kooter with a ponytail... LOL! My husband walked in and started cracking up when he saw him. I mean, I'm all for him trying new things with his hair, but the ponytail and flat-ironed looks are not at all flattering to him. I am hoping for either a perm or pigtails next!

-If MSWC is getting millions of hits per month, and only 500 buy anything, that doesn't mean your MARKETING is the problem, it's the PRODUCT they're pushing. MSWC is generic and lacking in unique voice, not to mention feels confused in vision. Their business is ONLY riding off their show, and once that is gone, the sales will fall away. I think the venture capitalists will see that. Since Kody tweeted about one of the investors being "too big for their britches" I'm guessing they didn't get the investment. Oh, and I'm fairly certain Kody was tweeting about the FEMALE investor, as she was the one with the most questions. I wonder if this is Kody's sexist attitude rearing it's blading head again. I bet if a male investor asked those questions, he's find him powerful and knowledgeable.

    - Robyn talking with Meri: Robyn is so selfish. SO SO selfish. I cannot believe the passive aggressive $%#o she told Meri. How she's "worried" the college route would go nowhere for her. How she's "worried" about Meri not being part of MSWC anymo- -er-- part of the FAMILY anymore. Meri stated this meant a lot to her. Be the "supportive sister-wife" you always preach about.

    - More on Robyn. What exactly is her role in MSWC? I have knowledge about running customer based business, and the bulk of work is actually Meri's job. Talking to customers and shipping is time extensive. If Janelle is doing financials, and Christine is doing marketing, then Robyn is... what... idea lady? Okay, visualizing can be a job, but it is NOT the most difficult. I actually find it offensive she complains about needing so much help. She has help with her kids, help cleaning her house, and the easiest job. I ran my career pregnant and with kids with no family or friend help. Robyn already has a live-in maid/sister/friend to clean for her and babysit and needs MORE help. If I had someone do the dishes even once a month for me, I would have been in heaven!

    - Christine got in a lil' jab a Robyn I think when she said that crying "came more naturally" to Robyn. Haha! Well it's certainly true!

    - Kody and his emotional vomiting made me want to physically vomit. Families SHOULD run on committee decision all the time! I can't tell if it's his sexist tendencies, his religious tendencies, or both that make him feel like he should rule the family. I got angry when they said that no wife could be in charge of MSWC, but Kody could. WHY should he? Because he has male genitalia? Because that's the only difference between them! Also: I think Robyn wanting Kody in charge is yet another ploy to relinquish her from doing work.

    - Janelle is still my favorite. I SO WISH she's see her true worth and start her own business away from the rest of the family!

Also found it interesting that Janelle & Christine were the two people that actually sounded a bit professional in their practice presentations. Not sure where Christine learned how to gather and compile statistics...perhaps TLC writers??? I was pleased for Christine that she got positive feedback even if the Kody, Meri, & Sobbin' had no clue what Christine said.

If the VCs are real and not just a story line, their assistants will be able to show them how bogus the presentation was. Just finding & reading posts in CJ's Living Room, the old SWBlog, and any other column about SW will have the VCs padlocking their bank accounts.

It was so ridiculous I kept thinking, "Is this a farce?"

I still can't wrap my brain around the possibility that any of that could've been for real. And what I really really really can't wrap my brain around is that they got reamed that they get all of these hits to the website that never convert into sales...and at that very moment, people were trying to access the website, and it was DOWN again! It has been down Every. Single. Solitary. time it's been a major part of the plot. Seriously? However, reading all the thoughts and impressions through everyone's eyes, this whole Kodyworld goes to Shark Tank extravaganza just reeks of the same contrived bullshit we all saw in the "will they or won't they" get approved for the McMansions !!
Same set-up, another parade of "official" people holding the future of the latest Kodyworld scam up for scrutiny and decisions. It all rings tiresomely familiar. Same annoying *performances* from the Browns, individually and collectively. Same pseudo professionals looking into the Browns financials, keeping everyone nervous and hopeful.
Seriously, do they really think this is all going to keep viewers on the edge of their seats and Twitter fingers..again !!?? Yawn....!!!

Sure sounds like the goal for TLC and Kody and Co.is to milk this faux story for as much of this season as possible. It worked for the Rent-A Uterus story (aka does Meri still have eggs) and worked surely for the McMansions caper,. So why not float another *pretend* story again??

The old saying in situations like this where it is obvious that there is a ruse that is either just stupid or it is phony has always been....."Yeah, but they are laughing all the way to the bank. Not sure whether this will be the final outcome for Kodyworld.

    1. I'm just hoping they bring up the ugly ass watches on the show. Why they decided to include them. because they are the one thing on the site that has no apparent tie to the Browns. They didn't design them, and they aren't promoting a 'friend' of theirs. the only guess is that because the Browns wear big clunky pimpin watches, they figure everyone wants one too.

      Delete
    2. Since they have some type of retailers number, they can go to any wholesalers show and buy some leftover watches pretty cheap. That is what those watches look like ... they probably got them a couple bucks each and decided to throw them on the site. Obviously, they know nothing about these watches because there is no description with them (at least there wasn't last week). Of course, with no thought to their brand, etc. All of this is in the "Business for Dummies" book - I have no idea who is advising them but I will guess that the Browns are not paying attention. Janelle - I know you know this stuff. Aren't they listening at all? To anyone?

      Delete
    3. Hey Anon, maybe they couldn't be bothered writing a description, because they figured the potential buyer could just google the name of the watch and read the description and reviews on Amazon for the exact same product. that's selling cheaper, and free shipping to boot. 2 day shipping for Prime customers.

    4. Concerning the watches; I vaguely recall an earlier episode (one of his B-day episodes perhaps) where one of the wives mentioned how much Kody loves watches. I'm guessing they were his idea, or an idea by Robyn to try and win points with him.

    5. Ya but they aren't Official Kody Brown Watches - they have a limited edition KBF CD for VLL, these are just the same watches that Amazon sells. They're really grasping at straws here. Oh well, I spect we'll be seeing the genesis of the watch idea during the show. Next, they'll be selling walkmans.

  47. Well, we learned one thing for sure. Meri can cry on command. Such baloney about the "fear of public speaking" as we all know she has done it multiple times as mentioned previously. I noticed that when it came time for her to do her thing she was calm and collected. Her face wasn't red at all. There was no fear of public speaking in evidence.

I do have a fear of public speaking so I can relate to the issue. However, after working for years, I am comfortable speaking in small groups about something I know a lot about, like my job and my work. A two minute presentation about shipping products and satisfying customers doesn't sound like too much to ask.

Janelle has a wonderful speaking voice and a calm demeanor that is very appealing. Christine was impressive, especially in her practice session. Kody, Robyn, and Meri came across as stupid, ignorance people.

    2. TLL - I agree. While I am not a fan of Meri and generally think she is unpleasant...she HAS been saying for a couple of years now that she wants to go to college and it is not her dream to work for MSWC. They need to let Meri do whatever she finds fulfilling. Forcing her to make presentations (which I think was unnecessary for their meeting) and attend meetings over this company is silly, she has stated she is uninterested and wants to do something else with her life.

      Delete
    3. Lone Lady... well said, and exactly what I was thinking. Meri has stood back and watched herself be Shanghai-ed into all of Kody's krappy scams, starting with taking Janelle on. I wish she'd wake up and grab life by the horns, sans Kody and the rest. Let it go, Merit, life is to be enjoyed!

Now *that* would be a good storyline!

And Meri going along with Kody's plan to marry Janelle is what she gets for marrying into polygamy. They could've done a lot worse than Janelle (see subsequent wives).

      Delete
    5. My son walked in while I watching the show last night. It was the Meri and Robyn conversation. He took one look and said "Have they started crying yet"?. Meri has the right to make her own choices. If it were me, my answer would be FU. Mind your own business and oh BTW: I don't need your permission for anything I do.

      Delete
    6. I still think it's possible that Meri agreed to polygamy after finding out that she probably wouldn't be able to have more children. I can see Kody using that as an excuse to start bringing the mistresses aboard, and she loved him so much that she agreed. Maybe she felt guilty for not being able to provide all the kids he wanted, irks... but if her self-worth was destroyed, she may have been more susceptible to going along with whatever he wanted -- including the Hormone Stew that is now her life.

I'm just speculating, and that's just my opinion, but when it was brought up before, I thought that seemed the most plausible scenario!

    7. Meri needs to get the heck out. You can tell she is miserable. Just look at her appearance in season 1 to now. What happened? I still see no need to have her speak. If she wasn't prepared the day before to talk, she had nothing to add to their presentation and only made them look bad. You can just tell she doesn't care about the business and the other wives, she's just staying for the reality show check.

      Delete
    8. I agree with you completely AndreaF. Kody and Meri were married for 3 years....then realizing she was not going to be able to conceive a child they turned toward (Mormon - Sister-in-Law) Jenelle to bear the children. That was perfect because Kody didn't not have romantic feelings for her, the stress was off Meri to conceive...and we all know when the pressure is off to conceive - Bam! Prego. But to really "look" like a "Polygamist Family" they needed to bring on another wife....perfect, nacho-eating Christine that Kody does not find attractive (actually he found her disgusting) if I recall from the "Tell All", Meri was good with both of these choices, because she was his love ....well, then we had a battle of the babies between Jenelle and Christine... with Christine finishing it up with beautiful Truely :).....then..........the show......we all know why he married Robyn.

This of course is also my own opinion and observation.

Invest $2.5mm in a business where all four principals have declared BK at some point? If you want other people's money for your business, you follow the Golden Rule. He who has the gold rules. Kody, as usual, had it backwards. The investors get to ask as many questions as they want. The first one they will ask is what is my source of repayment and how quickly will I get my money back. 49. I had lot of issues with this episode. Lots. Because they were dealing with Venture Capitalists and were talking about projections and financials and I am a CPA who would review such types of paperwork. I have a major problem with the Browns in the episode.
    • They had $180,000 in Sales last year. That is gross sales. What was their net income? Do they have their tax returns to show this income? Audited financials? You have to provide documents and numbers that have been verified by a third party. You can’t say the numbers and expect investors to ‘believe because everything they touch turns to gold!’. I am pretty sure they operated at a loss and took the tax deduction. They don’t know their Return on Investment (ROI)? What CFO of any company would NOT know this information? In the world of business , this is a very common and basic concept. While Janelle may be better spoken but she is not CFO material (or any of them for that matter) – she should have known this is what would have been expected.
    • So from their $180,000 in sales, they project they will be up to $3.1 million in sales by next year? What is this based on? With the injection of money would they buy new servers that didn’t crash every week? A company like Apple doesn’t even grow that fast. That is a huge jump in receipts. What is that based on? Getting 1% of people to buy their product? Are they offering something people generally want or are they just curiosity seekers? Are they counting all the people who keep trying to check out the site because it keeps crashing so they have to try several times?
    • While many were impressed with Christine’s presentation (and I was, too, based on how she is portrayed on the show)….all of this information is common knowledge. You can google and find out that x% of all sales are online to women between 18-49. This is true of many online businesses. She told the investors absolutely nothing new.
    • There was no reason for all four of them to speak. Meri didn’t need to speak. Shipping is not a biggie in this situation. If she was going to talk, she could say something like x% of our customers provide positive feedback and x% of them visit and buy again from our site. From what I have read, they had a lot of problems shipping and fulfilling orders because they were out of town so frequently.
    • It is NEVER appropriate to cry during a meeting such as this. You can speak from the heart without crying. Christine was dead wrong that crying would be appropriate because that means you care. Kody and Janelle should have immediately said that crying was not an option.
    • This was their one opportunity with these people. They thought they knocked it out of the park??? No, they were still unprepared for the questions and none of them could answer the key question: how is the business doing financially? How will an influx of money improve the business? Hiring a temp for Robyn to have a baby is not going to make this business grow from $180,000 in sales to $3.1 million in sales.
    • The Browns are not business savvy. They need to cease all attempts at running a business immediately.
    • And when they don’t get the financing, they will complain it’s because they are polygamists. I can already see that coming. And hey, Kody, quit tweeting all your sour grapes. Be a professional and learn something from this experience.

You betcha they will. Janelle already commented on the dynamics of having a husband and four wives running a business together and how it looks to outsiders.

I also 100% agree with everything else you said. I'm not a CPA yet (sat for some sections though!), but I do have a masters in accounting and I was in shock. I've seen better presentations than that when I was a barely 20 year old undergrad. Every line they threw out was beyond superficial. They. Know. Nothing.

AND, for Kody to have previously been in sales, that was the absolute worst sales pitch I've ever heard.

    2. I agree with CPA Carol. I had the same thoughts as I watched the show. You don't know what your ROI is? So glad you knocked it out of the park.

I think I have Kody's emotional vomit on my keyboard. It seems to be sticking.

    3. To CPA Carol - you have NO IDEA how much I was looking forward to seeing you comment on this show. I haven't even read your comment yet but I wanted to let you know how happy I am. :)

    4. I wasn't impressed with the VC presentation at all. I teach in an MBA program, and any student who did a presentation like the one we saw from the Browns would be in real danger of failing my class. I did find Christine's and Janelle's acceptable style-wise, but lacking in real content. And they all looked really unprofessional, although Janelle tried by wearing a dress and matching jacket. They all looked like stay-at-home moms on their way to a PTA meeting. That's o.k. for stay-at-home moms on their way to a PTA meeting, but completely inappropriate for professional women who are business owners and are trying to secure expansion funding. And as for the session with the marrriage therapist, Kody, you are such a whiner. You tell your friends you're the alpha male, and then come out with the "woe is me, I can't control my family" in therapy. Grow up, already!

      LOVE THIS!

I am so happy that I am amongst peers who understand that their presentation had NO MEAT. The few stats/numbers they threw at us were nothing Wkipedia couldn't show.

Definitely. They do not have 15 million viewers.

    11. Thank you CPA Carol! I know little about business but what I saw last night made me cringe. Were we being punked? I really don't understand what happened. From their clothing choices, their lack of preparation, their word vomit (which was full of lies) to the tears. Wow. I wish the people had just walked out, that would have made my night.

  51. The terminology used on their web site has always been wrong. They had a category of"fine jewelry"before the revamp of the website for the original sterling stuff. The called the more expensive stuff fine. They are calling those crappy gold plated watches "genuine Gold" The comment Kody made about everything they have touched this past four years has been midus, i thought, they sure cried poor mouth the last four years. This has to be a story line. Kody is comfortable borrowing that much dough after all the bitching about school loans? im not believing it

  52. Finally watched it during a slow moment.

    CPA Carol,
Really appreciate your expertise and observations as a professional and as a viewer.
Your comments make so much sense that it blows my mind that the Browns would be willing to have had their utter stupidity all documented for the world to see.
That is, IF any of it is real !!??? Jury is way out on this one as usual.

The tears !!! Always the tears !!!
Can they do or say anything without tears !!!

Speaking not just for myself, but surely for scores of others, having to deal with life, having to go to work and having personal crises simultaneously goes on every day, every hour...
    It's called life.
Sure, some phases are heavier than others, but I'll be damned if every time I wanted to cry, it meant that I could !!
It is appalling how clueless and shielded from reality these women and their loathsome leader are in terms of real life responsibilities and "have-to-do's.!!!
When in doubt or when it feels too hard......just cry !!!

Going back to CPA Carol's info........
I have a question ! Do the Browns have an accountant ??
And I don't mean Janelle who if she did have accounting degree would have said so after all this time. (A few accounting classes does "an accountant" make.)

If they do have an outside accountant, wouldn't that person have imparted the same info that CPA Carol said ?
And if they don't have one ongoing, wouldn't it have been a smart move to have a consultation with an accountant in preparation for their one-shot at begging for money?

This whole thing just smells of fabrication. We have smelled it before !!

    1. This has to be all for show, right? There is no way any family could be that unprepared for a business meeting like that. I always thought a business plan was one of the first things one did when starting a business. Here we are 3 years later and they still don't have a business plan? What the heck is going through their heads?

    2. Now that you put it that way, I am wondering if the crying is to make Kody be less of an ass. The evil eyes, the barking, the strange baring of teeth during the commitment celebration photos. It reminds me of my grandfather. My grandmother developed a major case of hypochondria because he was marginally nicer to her when she was "sick." That's pretty sad.

  53. Robyn saying people are pleased with their customer service? Feedback is positive? This whole episode
addressed floater issues made on facebook and blogs. Their customer service has been awful. That's what makes this thing unbelievable, their actions versus kody's agrandising their potential

  54. Thanks to all who have provided comments about the inner workings of businesses. That is not my area so I appreciate the insights. Frankly, I would be scared to death to take on a $2.5 million loan---but esp. if I were the Browns. As a consumer I just cannot see MSWC taking off the way they hope. There are already plenty of jewelry businesses out there and the MSWC product (as has long been pointed out) has a very small niche. Further (as already pointed out), when the show inevitably ends (whether in 1 year or 5 years or whenever), then the Browns lose all that free publicity and fan base. I agree with those of you who think Meri doesn't want to be in the MSWC business---her actions on the show say that (even tho' her tweets are all bright and cheery)---but I believe her true feelings are there on the show. I think she is terrified of taking on that loan---and I don't blame her one bit.

On another note, wasn't that a bottle of green stuff in front of Kody at one of the dining room table meetings last night? So, maybe they are still in that business. But, wow, putting their entire financial future into green stuff, MSWC and/or TLC just doesn't seem to have the staying/financial power these folks need. I would be in a panic every day about money, insurance, medical, etc.

Of course, there is probably a lot behind the scenes that we don't have a clue about---but if the story they have presented thus far (1 guy, 4 women, 17 children, 4 huge mortgages, scary businesses) is the true story, then I would be a panicky Brown if I was part of the group.

    1. I don't know much about the business world either, but I can tell that if the Browns borrowed 2.5 million they would lose their homes and anything else they had of value. They would never be able to pay that money back and I doubt they think they would need to with their track record. This is not a viable business, the only reason they have had as many sales as they have is because they are television currently.

  55. I watched the episode again and had to let some of it "jell" for a bit. What was the motivation to go after VC money when I don't believe they are structered for such a huge in flux of money. The problem is turning hits to sales and they have known since day one the reason people don't buy is because of overpriced goods that are readily available at other sites. The last line Kody says in the preview of the next episode is "we are back at the drawing board" this was all about getting sales from the show. Pity the Brown's...Kody is not very likeable so far, so don't know if it will work.

  56. I was just over at MSWC. There are "Men Watches" and "Women Watches." I would change the description to "Men's Watches" and Women's Watches."

  57. The sales of the business if true as stated by Kody don't support the kind of money they are looking for. They don't need it so Robyn can have a baby and they can hire someone. They never mentioned to VC the idea of having employees. They said marketing and product. I have been in the jewelry business with my husband here in Scottsdale for 25 years and it pains me to see these people flounder. My husband always says "everyone is in the jewelry business" it's tough and you have to delay gratification. There are other means of raising capital for a small business and this I believe was just a story line.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's real simple. The reason MSWC will never grow is because nobody is buying their designs. It appeals to polygamists and people who dress like the Brown family women. They all look like they shop at Goody's and those stores are starting to close. Never mind they all have 0 experience running a successful business. Every single one of them have filed for bankruptcy. No investor will loan them money because millions are looking at the jewelry and nobody is adding anything to the cart for checkout. Ha.

  59. I had only watched bits and pieces of this episode and I just sat down and watched the whole thing.

OMG! I didn't think it was humanly possible for Grody to look any worse than he did with his ponytail in the last episode but I was WRONG! That ponytail he was wearing literally made me laugh at loud! Wow, that is one delusional dude! He looked so ridiculous!

Speaking of delusional, thinking people are going to buy polygamist joory. No matter how much the Klowns want to believe that they are normal mainstream people, real normal mainstream people are not interested in their crappy joory. Millions of hits and a few hundred sales? Gee, think there could be an issue with what you are selling? Like no one wants it?

Did you catch Robyn's comments about monogamists? How much harder and how much more rewarding in polygamy? This is why people hate you, Sobbin. Your arrogance and you and your family's belief that you are above monogamists. Nauseating. I think I'll vomit all over everyone.

  60. Is this the first episode where they conducted some of the interviews individually. Where they weren't all together setting on the couch. I liked to hear what they were saying much better that way with the exception of the vomiting part!! It seems akward when they are all on the couch and one of them is crying, because one of them are always crying! Then the others are just staring silently. texasgirl

  62. Did anyone else notice the food Meri and Robyn were eating at the lunch they had together? Meri had a large water, a small fruity drink, and what looked to be a salad. Robyn had a giant fruity drink, a small water, and a sandwich and sides. I think Miss I Can't Eat Food so I Stay Stick Skinny is learning to stuff down her feelings with food like all the Brown women do. She's on her way to competing with them for being, um, curvy.

It's odd to me because none of them have to work a 9-5 job like the rest of us and they have endless money (for now), yet they still cannot find time to get in shape? if I didn't work a desk job my training would be top notch. There is no excuse for them not to be the healthiest they can be.
