  1. WHY? ? ? Is the My Sister Wife's Closet website NEVER UP? How do they push this business that you can't pull up EVER! I don't want to purchase but it's a good thing I don't . . . Right?

    2. Just think, they're gonna have to pay the money back or get screwed big time. And we all know how good the Browns are at paying their debts. This is going to end badly.

    3. Just another grift for these cons. They were so obviously just taking money to live on, it's not like they invest any money in building their website/ business. These investors are ridiculous! Have they checked their credit ratings? Ughhhhhhh

    4. Have they checked their website?

    5. They investors are dumb alright! Robyn said they wanted (the money) to test their "theory". What theory you ask? Well, according to Robyn: "to prove our theory that our site just needs (more) selection." Yeah sure - you need more pics of merchandise with no description, that you can't ship, and no customer service. LOL Yeah, sure - give 'em some money.

    6. I'm SO betting that at the end of the season (or at the end of next season) we are told that the money deal fell through and the Browns didn't get diddly squat. Of course, it was probably all made up anyway. I'm not getting a moneybags feeling from this particular bunch of so-called VCs.

    7. Dakota Justice I think you are right. This just may be a made-up storyline with paid (or volunteer friend) actors. They need it to look like MSWC is a going concern. 500 sales is pitiful when you consider this business has gotten hours of free airtime promotion through the show. It's like a paid infomercial each week, Robyn can have her "theory" about why they aren't getting more sales. Mine is that they have made such klowns of themselves since Season 2 that viewers watch the show more to see the train wreck than because they admire anything about their lifestyle.

    1. The Browns will never be able to pay that back. Not with their track record and a worthless business. What are any of them thinking?

      Delete
    2. Does this investment mean that the VCs value the company at $5M-$10M in value, roughly?

It would be interesting to see a real evaluation after 6 months, or to see the VCs extract and enforce some contingencies on the money. A regrouping/follow-up with their new advisor would have made a better storyline for the second episode, rather than yet another dumb party.

      Delete
    3. So...will the investors be able to immediately see how the money is being spent or will they have to wait six months to learn the Brown's used it to pay living expenses and college tuition? I'm just baffled why they think they can convert website views to sales by adding more variety. Did they do any focus groups to see what consumers truly want to buy? Do they know what kind of purchasing power their demographic has when it comes to discretionary purchases? I imagine many of the website hits are merely looky-loos (like me - I admit it) who were curious but have no intention of buying. I wonder how much in student loans the kids are racking up. I have not yet watched the party for Kody. Just didn't have the stomach for it after they got the money from the "investors".

    2. Haven't seen the show yet but I bet it is the watches. They were probably supposed to have new product on the site intended to be something unique. Robyn couldn't think of anything and so here are the watches. Ugh.

      Delete
    3. I think the new product is the 2012 Christmas ornaments...

Robyn said a few times that the money would let them test their theory. If they had a theory, other than "We have the Midas Touch," they should have presented it to the VCs and business advisor. Also, since Robyn's whole pitch was that people like what they represent and their values, they should have hauled in one of their Mission Statement canvases. And, an example of the new product should have been on their posterboards.

Maybe they're hoping that Van Lady Love releases a new album on MSWC exclusively and it goes to No. 1. But, that would be too much of a business plan for them.

Good job Maddie on your full scholarship! That is awesome. Now, Meri can go to school. I love how Janelle talks about worrying about the cost of everything like the kids' college tuition and Meri just does whatever without any thought to the cost of things or how it affects the family. Mariah gets the most expensive school, a car and whatever else she desires.

    1. I am a little annoyed that they did not spend time on showing Maddie's graduation, her party, her accomplishments like they did Mariah's and Logan's. It is clear that they put the boys up for bragging rights and since Meri has not boy, Mariah gets her fair share cause Meri is all about getting her's, right?

    2. I'm guessing they will show the latest grads, possibly next season (if there is one - ha!). Remember, what we are seeing now was taped months ago, I think.

The Browns talk out of both sides of their mouth. Problem is it's all being recorded and we can always go back and replay their verbal contradictions. First they say Vegas is their forever home, then they say Lehi is still an option. At one point they said a 5th wife might happen and at another point, they said never. At one point, they really want the kids to follow their religion. The next minute, they don't care. The latter is pretty much all I needed to hear to know that they are fakers who play to public opinion and will do anything to keep the money flowing. What person who really believes their religion is the way to Heaven, doesn't care if their kids believe it or not? Really?! And if they are saying there's more than one way, well then they should not call themselves Christians.

Granted, I don't know much about their religion except for what I've read here ... But I will respect everyone's right to choose what they believe as long as they own it. Don't flip flop, Browns!

    3. I honestly think these emotions are fake and scripted. They want drama to keep their show going so they seem snippy with each other cry all the time. This show was only real in season 1. It isn't reality to not work, plan parties all the time, and get 4 huge homes next to each other. It's jumped the shark.

      Delete
    4. I agree that Kody's snapping at Robyn was really interesting. Christine nearly killed their deal, and Kody was trying to absolve her guilt. Robyn piped in to tell him that Christine is taking ownership for the blame and he should let her, because it was her fault. Then, Robyn turned to Christine and praised her for putting together the plan. Robyn was so obviously passive-aggressive.

    5. Ya and Cristinine told Robin it was okay for her to cry at an investors meeting...

    6. I missed how Christine almost blew their deal, what happened?

I did catch how Kody snapped at Robyn, but she had it coming. She constantly interrupts everyone all the time. It is so annoying. In the flashbacks tonight, it was funny to see how lovey dovey Grody and Sobyn used to be. The honeymoon is clearly over.

      Delete
    7. Only Kody had just interupted Christine. Both should let the women feel what she wants and finish her own sentences.

      Delete
    8. I had a different take on the "Robyn interrupted Kody" sequence. This was the first time in a long time that Kody was sort of defending Christine. He was going to give her a pass on that huge faux pas in the investor meeting. I don't think Robyn wanted Kody to let Christine off the hook, so she was all "WAIT! She WANTS to own it. She WANTS to take the blame. LET HER!!" Robyn can't handle it when Kody shows favor to anyone but her.
But, maybe I just let my intense dislike for Robyn color my perception. :)

  29. Continuing with my 7:01 PM comment: They all kept yammering about the move to Vegas and how they felt about it then and now---and Christine said Kody told her that he didn't really want to move to Vegas either and she asked him why he did it then and talked about the sunsets, etc., and she said he played it all up in order to show his family there was a "silver lining" to the move and that it would be a great thing, etc., etc. I'm not quoting this all perfectly, but, this sure is change from everything before---i.e. that Kody did want to move to Vegas all along and the others knew it. So, what is the truth here? Who knows.

    ReplyDelete
  30. BS on the loan !!! No way did "legitimate" VC'ers give these idiots any money.
This is just actors and acting. $ 2.5 million down to 250,000 to 500,000.
    Show me the money !!!

Epp #2 was *proof positive* that CJ's Living Room is stalked by Browns AND TLC.
1- Why else did they go sooooo ridiculously far to retract Christine's statement of 2 years ago that KingKody *said* he wanted to go to Vegas to live.....rendering the flight in the night episode as pure, made for TV BS. And the story du jour on that is now that he said all that "had to sell" the move. BS!!!!!
They read here and they know that we KNOW that the move to Vegas was nothing more than a deal with TLC to get and keep show...and the despicable way they filmed those poor kids reeling from it.

2- In the Living Room, it is well known that Kody is an ass, an attention whore, a liar and a manipulator.
Clearly this *party* to honor the King was TLC's lame attempt to elevate the village idiot.
And, more importantly, to fill up airtime on what is obviously now a show that has gone dry with any plausible plot ideas. These Kodymares really way have too much time on their hands to be able to go the party stores all the time.

    4. Maddie has been on the show since the beginning, she should have been getting paid this entire time. Now I know it gets complicated on reality shows with who gets paid, but it really burns me up to think that these kids (along with the Duggar and Gosselin kids) don't get their fair share while mom and dad party it up. None of these kids should have to worry about college. Again, not sure if the kids are getting money from the show or their parents and are just acting, but I have the feeling the adults are screwing over their kids.

    7. Anon 11:06 - not that there's much that comes out as far as the financial renumeration from TLC is on these reality family shows, but from the little that HAS come out, the family gets paid as a unit, not individually - one check for the entire family. Now, Logan and Mariah who were both over 18 at the time these shows were filmed might be getting their own check for appearing, but then again they might not. We've probably seen Logan for 5 minutes TOTAL since January 2014. If he IS getting a check, it's probably not much. People have to keep in mind we're not talking NBC or ABC here - we're talking TLC, a notoriously cheap network that is looking at the bottom line, making these shows for as little money as possible. Also, as has been stated numerous times, they are SAG union members so they don't even get union minimums, royalties, residuals - just the one time payment plus any perks that are filmed for the show. (i.e. those road trips etc). Just saying.

      Delete
    8. Just adding to my comment a moment ago.
The parties we see on the show, TLC pays for. I doubt that the Browns would do so many parties if TLC wasn't paying for them.
While the family is being paid as one, and I do agree that the Brown adults are doing a great job of pissing it all away, I don't think the kids are getting cheated or not getting "their fair share" other than the way the Browns choose to divvy up the money by wife rather than by number of mouths to feed etc. The kids ARE reaping the benefits. As was stated by Maddie and here by other commenters, they are now living in big houses in Vegas, each kid now has his or her own room (since we now have 4 kids, soon to be 5, moved out and living at college), they got out of the polygamist schools and got to extend their social circle which meant that they are less likely to follow in their parents' footsteps. And if/when the Browns DO lose the McMansions, most of the kids with the exception of Sol and Truely (and whatever bun is in Robyn's oven if she IS pregnant) will be out, or nearly out, on their own. There is really nothing wrong with community college, and really I doubt ALL the kids are going to want to go to college anyway.

      Delete
    9. And for the most part, the "parties" amount to a bunch of dollar store junk that keeps the kids entertained at what is otherwise a family dinner.

      Delete
  31. My head is spinning from all the low-grade emotional manipulation of each other and the audience.
    - The teens' talking heads about getting VC funding: "Now we can afford college" (or similar sentiment);
    - Truely and Solomon's talking head about loving Daddy;
    - The entire party to profess Kody's bravery, wisdom and insight to make us forget the misery they manifest and display each week otherwise;
    - The obligatory random people attempting to legitimize polygamy with their talking heads.

All the wives were pretty obviously calling Kody their leader, too. Kody is emotional vomit.

  32. Kody said he only wanted $500,000 but asked for the $2.5 million on advice from someone, so he'd end up with what he really wanted. I still don't see what "products" they think they are going to offer that will cause a big up tick in their business over the next 6 months. I have to think they already know what those products are and are just keeping the "reveal" under wraps for now---I guess. MrSpock fails to see the logic in any of this.

All the wives mentioned they had a hard time trusting Kody about the move. Maybe because he never confided in them that he (supposedly) did not want to make the move to Vegas either. He was "selling" the idea of the move. I bet trust is an on going issue in that house. What else is he "selling" to the wives. Not to mention that I think any person would have a hard time trusting their spouse when he/she has several other intimate relationships that exclude them.

    3. Anon 7:38. I just watched that episode recently. That was when Kody delayed the move from Monday to Tuesday, because the house they were going to wasn't available until Tuesday afternoon. And Meri, Janelle, and Christine were questioning the change in the plan. Kody said "we're leaving on Tuesday" and Meri said "Why, because you and Robyn just decided that when you were over there?!" Then she immediately apologized and backtracked, but you could see her frustration already with Robyn and Kody making plans without the other adults.

  34. Does anyone remember when people used to take pantyhose and make them into smooshy faces and sell them, like cabbage patch dolls? When Sobbin starts to cry or pout or talk, her face twists like these dolls stuffed into jars. So, mr anon had a great idea for mswc. They could take these dolls and put them on bobble head dolls and call them Sobbin head dolls. I think that would be Great suggestion for the new merchandise they are looking for.

  35. I don't understand why this can't just be Robyn's business and pay the kids minimum wage to help pack and ship the stuff. If Meri actually puts together and ships what the heck does Robyn do all day, every day?

If Mariah got the car why is she flying back and forth, and why is meri driving her to school and helping set up, did she fly home?

Of course your dad could be put in jail. It's illegal. If you dad committed fraud he could go to jail. Why not try to legally get the law changed and live monogamy until then? Then you don't have to worry about prison.

Of course the parents were excommunicated. They weren't in communion with the organization. Why would it bother them for that to happen?

    1. It killed me when Christine said her part about her dad or whoever being put in jail just for having 2 wives. In case she didn't know, it is ILLEGAL to have more than 1 wife or husband in the U.S.A.

      Delete
    2. The lack of regard for laws kills me. They can steal and it is okay--charging up money on credit cards that you are not going to pay is stealing; they can commit fraud--having children and being in a relationship with a man and having children by that man and then getting food stamps and other social programs by saying the man is not around is fraud; they can break the laws of our state and federal government--plyg is against the law. These people are grifters, plain and simple. They come up with scams and then focus the entire family on how to pull the scam off. Yuck!

      Delete
    3. When has charging up credit cards and not paying considered stealing and therefore against the law? It's a known fact credit card companys write off bad debts for tax breaks. I don't agree with polygamy but I don't agree with having children starve because of their actions of their parents. Gypsys have scams and are grifters so why not single them out too?

      Delete
    4. Monica, if you buy something on credit and don't pay for, you have essentially stolen from the credit card company. When people steal from stores, they pass the loss on to the consumer but that doesn't make the person any less a thief. Just because a credit card company writes off a bad debt doesn't mean someone doesn't pay for it...tax payers pay for it. I do not think the children should starve but I do believe the parents should be accountable and as far as other groups of people, I do believe that lumping a group of people into running scams and being thieves based on their cultural background is somewhat racists. I think I would reword that to say maybe some other people commit scams and are grifters.... But, we don't really talk about other groups. This is a group for discussing the Browns. I realize you often come to defense of us discussing the Browns but I don't understand how you are missing the points that we are making.

      Delete
    5. It isn't the using food stamps that is fraud; it is lying to get those food stamps, which is the point Anon 8:08 was making.

      Delete
    6. Just because charging up cards and not repaying the debt you rack up can't get you arrested (although it is most definitely a civil case type of offense), doesn't mean it's right. And I'm sure that Robyn didn't feed her kids with her Victorias Secret card.
I'm one of the people here who really don't give a rat's about whether they are polygamists or not (to me Kody's got one wife and three mistresses/baby mamas). It's just an open commune. Those kids were NEVER going to starve. Dollars to donuts most of their racked up card debt (and I'm sure they're in debt now, the TLC $ could not possibly stretch to pay all their bills now) was from stuff they really DIDN'T need.

And let's not even go into the ethics, or the fact that the rest of us end up paying for those "write offs" one way or another. Just because someone can't get thrown in jail for something, doesn't make it the right thing to do. Especially since when the Browns were racking up those debts (multiple times) they more than likely KNEW they weren't gonna pay them off. And that is just wrong.

      Delete
    7. Unless someone has access to welfare applications, how would anyone know the Browns lied in order to receive aid? Or that their credit card debt was from items they really didn't need? And excuse me for saying this, but anonymous, by grouping the Browns into being grifters and cheats based on their being polygamist isn't that discrimination too? What I'm saying is, welfare abuse is not just polygamists. Fix welfare and you fix the problem.

Because every father of 12-17 kids needs a Harley.

  36. That party was just weird. Who does that? My observations from these two episodes tonight:
Janelle's personal trainer picked his nose and flicked it.
    Robyn has a muffin top.
Meri going back to Lehi "for a number of reasons" and I think one of them was to get away from the cul-de-sac chaos and drama.
Janelle's boys seemed in no way interested in keeping Kody distracted and Janelle way over reacted when she thought one of them spilled the beans.
Kody seems to have the most chemistry with Christine, even when he is annoyed with her.

Robyn's comment about Meri moving further away from the family and she is afraid that she won't come back was priceless...so we know that once a woman gets a taste of independence and education they run to the nearest travel lodge to be forever removed from that list of those Kody will call from the grave. My prediction..(If they really did get money).... I'm sure Kody and Robyn will start using the money. Meri will make sure she gets her cut. Janelle and Christine won't get anything and will be blamed for the business failing. The saddest thing is these two fools will accept the blame. Christine will apologize profusely for things she didn't do and Janelle will just lay there and do nothing. It's hard to root for women who are so passive. .

So we are supposed to buy that they are poor while partying their butts off in four huge homes, that they are eating out like it's going out of style. Like they left Utah because they were persecuted...but the wives never believed it because it was being so positively "sold" to them, but they still went on an on about how they were leaving because they were so persecuted. Like they could possibly get a half a million dollar loan for their business when they're combined credit score is probably 500. Like their neighbors love having to listen them scream into microphones all night, or that the kids are worried about how they can afford college but Meri can pay for it without question. 44. I've been indoor climbing for about 6 months now, love it too. It's not as scary as Janelle makes it sound. She was on a low-rated route, judging from the size of the holds - big and easy to grasp. She was roped in - her belay partner was out of camera range. If she let go, she'd be held by the harness/rope. I'm also afraid on heights btw.

    1. I think that segment was just a plug for rhe trainer's life coach and personal training business, even though it's such a weak endorsement. I think it was also to reposition him professionally on the show, since he's been called out as a sycophant here.

Just like the 5K, Janelle says she's afraid, she barely attempts to climb, quits, has to be coached to try to reach a low hold and then declares that she's proud of her success. Sean plugs himself by declaring that her work-outs make her strong enough to climb the whole wall, yet we've never seen one upperbody work-out in their clips.

When Janelle tells Kody that she's going to a climbing wall and is afraid, he replies, "Well, you'll be in a harness." He couldn't have been less encouraging. Sean must have kept his man card by demonstrating how to climb with no harness. Logan only contributes to the scene by trying to legitimize Janelle''s invisible progress.

In yet another plug for the trainer, next week's preview shows Janelle climbing a hill with her trainer, ready to resign to being fat forever.

      Delete
    2. It's not a big deal to climb up a few feet on the wall without being harnessed in. People do that all the time, just to get a feel for the beginning of the route before tying into the rope or whatever. Also, a good way to practice balance (which is key to climbing, not so much arm strength) is traversing the wall and focusing on your foot position. Sean isn't a climbing SME and I would have had more respect for him had he stepped aside and let one of the climbing instructors at the facility give Janelle a belay lesson. Climbing the wall is only half - it's very much a team sport. If you climb and can't belay, it's not at all fair to the other person who wants to climb as well, because basically you're taking turns, one person climbs, while one belays.

      Delete
    3. oh and after reading my 7:36 post, I have to add, that if Janelle HAD taken a belay lesson beforehand, she wouldn't have been freaking out about getting all of five feet up the wall on what looks to be a 5.3 route. Rock climbing is hella fun and can be challenging for sure - but learning how to properly double back your harness, tie the knots properly and securely, and operate the belay device - had Janelle done this first I can assure you that she wouldn't have been freaking out. Unless of course it was all for TV. I see people at my climbing gym climb for the first time EVERY SINGLE day, all ages, all walks of life, all fitness levels and I've yet to see ANYONE freak out.

  46. Well. I actually fell asleep during the second show... so, here is what I *do* remember.

    1. I agree that janelle has lost no weight. I also agree with the poster who said that she's spineless. I don't feel sorry for her or any of these women, though, because as my grandma used to say: You can't be a doormat unless you lay down first!!

    2. Meri's "friend" obviously wanted her 30 seconds of secondary d-list fame.

    3. Kody's "meeting hairdo" looked like 1950s Betty Crocker.

    4. Christine is still -- in my opinion -- as homely as ham. I disagree with a previous poster who said she and Kody have chemistry. She's loud and strident and seems like she needs to suck the attention from the room in order to survive.

    5. I believe that their photos are photoshopped, filtered, whatever. They all look bigger. Kody looks like Jeff Daniels in "Dumb and Dumber" whenever he tries to speak intelligently.

    6. Gross trainer Sean is annoying, and ripping janelle off. His sanctimonious condescension deserves a kick in the ol' twig and berries. Not that he's responsible for what janelle eats, but still... he bugs me.

CJ... Their storyline swiping is over the top! At this point, I think the bill should run anywhere from $250,000-$500,000. :D

    1. AndreaF I agree with EVERYTHING you said. Janelle HAS lost SOME weight, because her face is thinner, but anyone watching her attempt to climb (and yup I was ready to smack Sean!!!!) could see that she has a LONG way to go and she hasn't lost THAT much weight. Remember a couple of seasons ago (damn, probably a YEAR ago??) when Janelle sat down with the Bombshell trainer and talked about food intake? They didn't discuss calories. People can talk about thyroid and insulin resistance as much as they want but most of the time it's a calorie thing and if she's taking in too many calories, no matter WHERE from or how much she works out, then the scale isn't going to move that fast. Shit, Janelle herself admits in her freaking BLOG that she's having problems staying on track food wise.

It's time for someone to sit down and have a Come to Jesus moment with her. Have her download Myfitnesspal or whatever calorie counting app she wants to use, tell her to stay at 1500 calories a day (I'm being generous here - I exercise WAY more than Janelle does and if I don't bring my calories down to 1300-1500/day I won't lose weight) and measure/track every. single. thing. she. eats. for a week or two. I mean, the moment it crosses her lips, then it gets added to her food diary. then let's see how much she loses. I'm guessing that IF she's honest with herself and IF she stays at 1500 or below, she will have a really good weight loss. Just saying.

    3. Oh and I think Sean is still on the show BECAUSE he's annoyingly polarizing. Which makes for good TV. The producers probably don't give a shit if Janelle loses weight (and again, I think it was obvious in last night's show that the 40 pound loss is more than likely an exaggeration, or if not, she started out at more than 265) they just want ratings.

    4. AndreaF - I agree with you, too! Meri's "friend" whom she hadn't seen since they were like 7? Pleeze ... And I do not have much love for Christine at all. I agree with Kolleen's assessment, she is as fake as they come. But I will say this, I honestly think she is the most naturally okay looking out of them all. I personally do not find her pretty or beautiful like a lot of posters, and a lot of that is probably because she seems like a poser to me. But when seeing them all without makeup, to me she is the one that needs the least embellishment. Also, I think Aspyn is very pretty. Which, by the way, has anyone ever said that Meri was the pretty or hot one? Like ever? I thought she was a pretty bride. But seriously, a person's attitude has such an impact on whether or not I think they are attractive.

  50. You know, looking at it from the wives' perspective, especially Robyn's, Kody probably *is* an effective leader.

Let's face it, a couple years back she was a solo mother living in a trailer with three kids. Now she's borne the spawn of Kody, lives in a Las Vegas McMansion and just got venture capital for HER boutique business. Robyn is living her dream. It might be called My Sisterwife's Closet, but it may as well be called Robyn's Closet.

Has Kody been quite so good for the other wives? It sort of occurs to me that Janelle and Christine are without ambition (Janelle pretends to have some, but Robyn is way ahead of her in the 'live your dreams' stakes.) And Meri is going back to college and exploring the fruits of being an empty-nester. I think, given time, she'll soon see that having only one child is actually a blessing.

All in all, being part of the Kody show has been incredibly lucrative and useful for Robyn, gives Meri a fair bit of freedom and autonomy from the family and as for Christine and Janelle? Well, they'll reap what they've sown. So far that seems to be cow like placid acceptance of whatever Kody decides.

Seems to me that polygamy, like so many things in life, is what you make of it. Robyn knows what she wants and goes for it. Christine's only desire is to be third wife. Well, she got that, and then spent the next twenty years sitting on her laurels. And Janelle? Janelle lacks the self esteem to do anything more than the books for Robyn's business. She says she wants to do real estate, but like the weightloss, nothing really ever materializes.

You could see Kody's irritation with Robyn and she just wouldn't STF up. And this week, she was really trying hard to put all that past hate behind her by getting on board with the new and improved Chistine's idea of honoring the king kody. You can see Robyn's value decreasing more and more. Her only redemption is to have another baby and let's face it, I don't think that is a good idea to her; although, she is going to haft to put out another baby soon or the King will say, girls, Meri and I are going hunting. 55. Has the LV move been good for their family? I think it has been good for the kids: Some of the kids were still being homeschooled and some were going to a religious school (not that there's anything wrong with either but really, Christine a teacher? Not! and religious schools in that area might not be up to snuff, if you know what I mean). I believe Maddie said it best that if she hadn't transferred to school in LV, she would not have had those opportunities, so for the kids the LV move was good but I don't think that was Kody's motivation. After all, when has the kids ever been his motivation?

One last thing: Not only are the wives and Kody begging for people to buy their crap cause they really need it to get the kids in school, but now poor Maddie is being sucked into the spare change role. If people don't buy from our family business, we won't get to go to college and boo hoo. I think because our site speaks so highly of Maddie as being one of those girls that will, we think, break the chain and live her life well that the parents say, let's use Maddie, she has such good PR and they convince her to beg. 57. Back to Janelle. I'm not on team ANYONE for this show, except possibly the kids and I think we're seeing that the kids for the most part are more than ready to get the hell away from the whole fracas as soon as they're able, with the exception of Mariah.

Janelle has really never shown much ambition. Yup, she left Kody (because Meri was making her life miserable) and got her own place, and went to college (we don't even know if she really has a degree, I agree it's probably just a standard degree in accounting or whatever, not that I'm putting that down but she's no financial wizard) because she had to support her kids. In fact she kept having kids with Kody during that time.
She got a job with the State, an admin desk job, then she got comfortable. What we saw in the first season and the first show in particular was a woman who had a set routine, get up early, go to work and leave her oldest to make sure the rest of the kids ate and got to school. We know, because she was a state employee and her salary and benefits were public record, that she didn't make all that much, considering she was supporting not only her own 6 kids, but helping to support the others as well. If the show had never happened she would still be in that same comfortable desk job, getting up early, going to work, working all day at whatever it was she did, and then coming home late at night. She's VERY much a creature of routine, who is also accustomed to using food as a comfort and recreation.

Yes, she is spineless. We saw eps of her "disciplining" her kids. They don't listen to her. They just don't. Fortunately, they're good kids, nothing exceptional, just regular kids really. I still don't think she's a good fit for a real estate agent, not the type that shows houses and can go out and find those buyers and motivate them to buy or lend confidence to their sellers. How many houses has she shown, 2? She's just not outgoing enough.

I'm sure she'd rather be back at her cozy desk job.

    1. I have never trusted Janelle. When she justified Kody having that Lexus Sports car by saying they got it cheap, (as if you can ever get a $60K car cheap unless it fell off the back of a truck) or how she couldn't understand what the big deal was when she had to explain that she used to be Meri's sister in law...or was it that her mother was Kody's step-mother via spiritual marriage with his father...

I get an uneasy feeling with her...I would wonder what she hasn't told me about the house she's showing me "Just refer to page three in your packet" I can hear her saying. Or saying for the umpteenth time "That's a good question. Let me research it and get back to you!" which can only work so many times before you start to wonder how much she really knows.

    2. Agree, Janelle's MO is just not one of credibility or competence....or clarity !!

As the show began and has gone on, I think TPTB have crafted images for each wife.
Looking at the rest of them, Janelle was easy to cast as smart one, and so whatever cryptic statements she tosses out are assumed to be fact.
Except that, like so much of their back-story, it is usually smoke and mirrors.

  59. I keep wondering to myself why they didn't start a party planning business instead of selling joolrey online? They have a party at the drop of a hat for any and no reason at all and it always has to have a theme. I doubt they could pull off anything fancy but at least they have some general experience in planning parties... lots and lots of parties. Even the kids are sick of the parties.

Oh and thanks to y'all, watching last night's episodes made me cringe everytime someone said DILL lol

They are following the 'Big Love' storybook. Margene had a jewelry business, so Robyn has to have a jewelry business. Barb went back to college, so Meri has to go back to college. Nicki has an "affair" and a nervous breakdown....WHOOPSY!!!

I'm just waiting for Kody to start courting wife#5, and running for public office.

    2. with all the time kody has on his hands, he may be courting a waitress in Vegas when he is not running around the cul de sac Ha Ha will she have his child?

  60. So was it just me or did Kody seem unimpressed when Maddie handed him the scholarships she'd received? He kind of shrugged, did a weird mouth thing... I guess since she isn't attending to get her MRS in polygamy, it doesn't really matter if she goes to college anyway.

    1. The business address listed is also a residence. And the business Stan, Amy and Kody have in common is probably the green Koolaid company.

    2. Personally I think the "VC's" other than Stan were friends/actors who wanted to get their faces on TV. And I bet you're right CJ - they are all in LIV.

    3. Ok that ticks me off because it seems they're trying to make their business seem more credible by involving VCs and making the VCs appear to be a tough crowd. Then, of course, they miraculously win these tough, supposedly legit VCs over and their fans probably think the closet is truly worth buying from. Ugh! Plus, judging from what their fans post to Facebook and Twitter, well I can see how they might be conned ("I wish I had what y'all have", etc).

CJ, Now that makes perfect sense and puts the whole faux VC deal into perspective.

    1. It only took a quick 30 second internet search to find this info. Not sure if they think their viewers are too stupid to figure it out or they just don't care. Maybe Stan's business is flailing too and they wanted a little TLC money too.

  63. When Maddie brought her scholarship letter in to the family to have Kody read it outloud, i noticed he neglected to say how much the scholarship was for, just didn't say it out loud, Maddie said it was for her full tuition. Did Kody not say how much it was because it was more than Mariahs? Did Maddie out scholarship the smart and better then everyone else Mariah? Why would Kody not brag on air about how large her scholarship was for> He also turned his back on Truely when in Christines bedroom and she was jumping on the bed..You would think he would want to hug a child that had been on deaths door.

    1. Of course she out scholar-shipped Mariah. Mariah is an only child with a mom and dad. Maddie has a single mom raising a gaggle of kids :-)

    2. One big difference between Mariah and her sister Maddie is Mariah did not hold a high school political office, but Maddie was her class president. Many eons ago when I was in high school there were certain things you had to do to distinguish yourself from the rest of the student body. One was being well-liked, the other was being well-liked enough that your peers "voted" you into office. Maddie also tweeted about the charitable works she was involved in, like car washes etc. Mariah? Not so much...although didn't she get a Letter for archery? Oh and she went to Mormon seminary classes.

Anyway, the fact Maddie uses the word Invictus (a famous poem) as her twitter banner puts her heads and shoulders above Mariah..."I am the Master of my Fate. I am the Captain of my Soul" are powerful words to live by, especially when you're a female born in a plural family.

And what words does Mariah have on her twitter banner? "just your average tv star"

      I rest my case.

  64. I think he didn't read the amount because of us picking at the figure. Even with Mariah, first it was ten. Then it was leaked she got a full ride eventually. Then that was retracted. Madison is more private.

She will have room and board, or get an apartment. There is out of state tuition. Maybe it's enough to counter the out of state tuition? But even with the out of state tution it's a reasonably priced school. I really don't think they all need to get full rides. I think it's enough that the kids are getting accepted and want to do more than high school. Especially doing church and homeschool for long.

If not for the kids no one would care.

  65. For me, the "big moment" on the show was the news of Maddie's scholarship--right on, girl! A full ride to the college of her choice is a great accomplishment, and I'm happy for her! The rest of the show pales in comparison. They're getting 20% of the funding they requested--o.k. They had a party to fete Kody as leader of their family--ho hum. Everyone acknowledges Christine almost blew the deal by saying the Browns might "get lazy" and Christine eats humble pie--big whoop. Maddie should have gotten the party, and I got a little angry at all five of her parents for not acknowledging her for what's an awesome accomplishment.

Madison, if you're reading this--I'm proud of you and happy that you're getting to see some of your dreams come true. True, I'm a stranger, but I know how hard it was to earn that scholarship and I commend you for making that effort. Keep up the good work! ;-)

  66. Kody had to pick up mariah at the airport, did he not know why she was in town? i don't believe it. Kody sold the move as a vacation to the kid's? They are speaking from the heart about how happy they are they have money and a big house.."Truely said when he gets mad? i just scream.".wow..kody gets mad ?

  67. This episode is history revision at its worst..they had to reach back to the most contrived episode to extend their 15 minutes of fame? and more emotional begging for college money. Has any one else other than meri and robyn gotten landscaping yet?

  68. I loved the connection made earlier between the VC pals and the green goop MLM. I think that connection is very likely.

I found the Brown's investment pitch to be so poorly conceived and delivered that it was uncomfortable to watch. And then, it was followed by Kody patting himself on the back for a job well done. He was even so arrogant to say he has the Midas touch.

And I guess he does because the family paychecks keep coming. The show keeps getting renewed. They are still in those overpriced giant homes. No one has been forced to get a real job, and now a VC investment for a junk jewelry website built around the family's 15 minutes of fame.

Where can I sign up for the TLC gravy train? Clearly, it ain't hard to manufacture a little homespun drama.

  69. Kody wants the Lehi house to NOT look like a polygamist ouse? They said the whole time the show was filmed in Utah, that the kid's had polygamist Peers, their friennds in school all had several mom's. Why would they not market to rheir neighbors?

    1. Good question. I think Kody and crew are on the outs with their church and know nobody from church wants to be linked to them. Even Kody said he thought they would have all these visitors in LV but nobody is coming to visit. Kody also said he was surprised that no boys have "asked" about the girls or tried to court them. I think they are estranged from their church and other parents dont want their kids to court the Brown kids. Which I think is a blessing so they will finish school.

  71. Now that we know they got the money, the fans who follow this will be expecting more product on the website. They have set themselves up for a fail. Unless they fix the website issues first none of it will work. Robyn looks like she is ready to barf or poop or something on these couch sessions. Her face expressions are of misery.

  72. I think the segment about Meri's friend and seeing her childhood home was the best part. Any back ground info about their history and a look into their experience as kids growing up in polygamy is interesting. They need to do more of that instead of coronation parties.

  73. Remember when Mariah wanted to get into the Naval Academy in season one? Kody said they wouldn't choose her because she is a plyg kid. No. She wouldn't have lasted 2 days there before she had a meltdown and cried all the way home. Now Maddie could have excelled at one of those type colleges. She is a leader. She moved to a new school and two years later was elected class president. That says alot about the type person she is. I can't wait to see where she is in 4 years and what she is doing after college.

  74. What happened to Kody praising his wives as "independent", "autonomous" & "strong" ? This season it's all about Kody being the supreme ruler and the wives filling their roles as obedient, adoring sheep. It's also funny that the only 2 pieces of jewelry on clearance (for half price) at MSWC are the SW/Strong Woman necklaces!!

  75. The contractors were holding back their laughter at that instruction. Then, one of them said that the only difference between a polygamist house and a monogamist house was the number of bathrooms.

Lehi is a polygamist area. Converting the house from a polygamist house would probably decrease its resale value or the number of potential buyers.

  76. Note to Cynical Jinx: this is completely off-topic, but I just thought of something: is Meri Brown somehow related to Marlene Thompson of Centennial Park? They seem to have a family resemblance--the same nose and chin. I was just re-watching the most recent episode of "Sister Wives" and was struck by the similarities between Meri and Marlene.

  78. Holy moly. Can I just say how upset I was when on the couch Maddie said they need the money from these investors for their siblings to go to college? That is not a concern that she as a child should have. And I also believe the Browns are very unrealistic about paying for college for all of their kids. I can't handle these folks and their cracked up story about their struggles. Sorry, I don't feel bad for you. And Robyn, for the crying, they make anti-depressants.
