I have to admit this. I was totally appalled at last week's birthing episode.
First of all, we've already witnessed Robyn pushing out one of Kody's babies from her nether regions.
At least Kody wasn't shown with his hand seductively rubbing Robyn's inner thigh. Seems this time around, the midwife had the gross privilege to not only get splashed when Robyn's water broke explosively, but she practically had to crawl on top of the woman to yank the Princess Ari-ola out. Unfortunately, the poor baby's clavicle was broken in the process. YIKES!
Daddy Dearest Kody trying to dance with 3 of his Kodettes |
Frankly, I can understand the Baby Princess' reluctance to enter the kooky world of the cul-de-sac.
I know I would be reluctant.
And secondly, did Robyn's Mom Alice and Step-dad Paul really need to be sitting front and center in front of the birthing action, taking pictures with a CAMERA for goodness sakes? Aimed right towards Robyn's Lincoln Tunnel? To tell you the truth, I'm surprised there wasn't a huge tub of buttered popcorn in Alice's lap, with a gallon size soda in her hand while she watched and photographed the action. Good Grief!
What's WRONG with those people?
Okay, rant over because....
It's L I V E T W E E T P A R T Y T I M E !!!!
Will Meri and her acorn Mariah kiss and make up?
Mariah: Mom, your eyebrows look funny! Meri: Wait til you see me with a banana in my mouth! |
Is the Honeymoon Experience finally over for these two love birds?
Robyn: Good grief Kody. Ya could've used a breath mint for cripes sakes! |
Prepare yourself for MORE Kody BLOVIATING!!
There's only ONE Mrs. Brown now and her name is Robyn, doggone it! |
While Robyn plays the sweet and innocent Queen of the Cul-de-Sac!! Just call her Mrs. Brown, thank you very much!
Wow, now that I'm the real Mrs. Brown I don't need to be nice, right? |
Will Robyn actually tweet tonight?
Well, that depends if the episode has a segment about her, and ONLY about her. Gotta keep up the appearance of being totally self-centered, right?

Kody admits to wearing hair extensions during the Great Flee from Persecution:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fishwrapper.com/2016/06/11/sister-wives-preview-clip-kody-brown-hair-secret-confession-video-polygamist-reality-tv/
The extensions looked horrible. He regrets he didn't have "serious hair" for a serious situation. Of course you can't tell the bad extension hair from his usual bad hair.
Wearing extensions are the least of Kodys problems but it does feed the rumor that he secretly wants to be a sister wife.
DeleteOmg I missed that. That's hilarious!
DeleteSeriously? This Ken doll wannabe who let his wives drive around in beat up cars with duct tape on the windows and balding tires had fricking hair extensions? Wow, talk about priorities.
DeleteYes, it took 24 hours for that 6 hour drive to Vegas because the cars kept blowing tires, and they didn't have any that fit. Kody kept just putting any old tire around on them. They had to stay overnight somewhere. They had 3 days to pack everything up after they told the kids while they were at the rented mountain cottage for Christmas - just when did Kody have time to get these hair extensions.? Any normal man would have just asked the barber to even things up, even if that meant a buzz cut.
DeleteI'm guessing the production company wanted extensions to try to make the continuity more seamless between footage shot in the move and later in talking heads. It ended up just looking ridiculous.
DeleteNot only suggested them, but TLC likely paid for them too.
DeleteI haven't really been watching the current season. I've 'recorded' them and hit play whilst I tackle chores.. I don't know why I am so interested in this family as I've never watched a single reality tv program ever- I surmise it's because I come from a very large family and live abroad so I like hearing the chaos- I've been catching up on the show from way back and have actually found the early seasons to be kind of interesting and more open (vs what I've seen in recent seasons..)
ReplyDeleteBut I do find the severity of the hatred for all things Robyn confusing.. I don't understand the R.E.A.L reason for the divorce and Meri's depression/betrayal.. I am guessing that is where the hatred began but it can't just be that viewers hate her just because she is a new wife!?! The guy has four.. So why do we only attack Robyn?
I am genuinely interested as I have no feeling for any of them more than people claiming their 15 minutes that I am somehow drawn to watching.. But Robyn insites such intense emotion it seems.
Robyn is manipulative and conniving. A viewer who’s carefully watched the program from the beginning (and I’m ashamed to admit I’m one of these,) has seen countless situations in which Robyn’s true self has appeared through her projected “I just want what’s best for the family” BS. What we’re left with is an overall feeling of her disingenuousness. Have you ever met someone you felt was disingenuous? It can be very unsettling: why are they hiding their true nature? Why are they putting up a persona of feigned sweetness and cluelessness? It’s always done to hide an agenda. In Robyn’s case, that agenda is simple: to usurp the love and attention of Kody from all the other wives and children. She succeeded within the first few weeks because there is no psychologically healthy adult in that family to bear witness to Robyn’s psychopathy. Robyn is perpetually making power grabs. That seemingly sweet comment she made to Meri on the couch last week – something about, ‘I hope you don’t feel bad hearing us talk about our kids…’ That’s a perfect illustration of Robyn’s (or any narcissists) method of control: to remind you of your own sense of personal failure so that you cannot ever overcome your fears and worries, so you remain locked in the same paradigm, so you don’t ever realize your potential. I could visualize Robyn smiling wickedly on the inside as she knew her acid words, masked as “caring”, would run like a dagger through Meri’s heart. Of course, Meri starts crying. We would, too.
DeleteChiming in too on the "But I do find the severity of the hatred for all things Robyn confusing.."
DeleteWell, if you have been watching from day one, you know that Sobbin was brought in to Kodyworld to seal the deal for the show contract. TV melodrama?? You bet !!
TLC created the perfect soap opera (Reality TV style) with Sobbin as the coquette/ villain. But what TLC missed (or did they) was that their original premise of all things being Plyg perfect and love-sharing was blown to hell with the Kody's new bedmate/baby incubator.
She was scripted to be the 'spoiler." She was insidiously insulting to all three original bedmates. Robyn/Sobbin is absolutely a stealth expert.
Under the guise of sweetness and furrowed brow, always honed on in creating "harmony" TLC aired aired her march toward becoming the "star" of the show. Uhh, correction...CO-star of the show. Add in her three kids by another father and her two Kody kids, Sobbin was SW's (primarily Kody's) ticket to 7 years of income.
But at what price to integrity, dignity, credibility........for all of them !!!
Sorry for the repeat words....damn IPad
DeleteWelcome aboard, Anon Abroad!! (I couldn't resist!)
DeleteI gotta agree with Ayumi. From the moment I watched that first season, it was very apparent Robyn had an agenda. She preceded to rip the heart out of Christine, when it was revealed that she secretly allowed Kody to select her wedding gown...and then when Kody stupidly announced it in the couch interview, the hurt on Christine's face was simply heartbreaking. We found out in their book (courtesy of Janelle) that Christine was so devastated - being that the original 3 sisterwives had thought Robyn trusted their input - that she actually did not return back to the studio to film the rest of the interview for 3 days! And what was Robyn's excuse? Well, instead of owning up to her bad judgment, she blamed Kody for opening his mouth and blabbing about it!
And then there was the honeymoon, where Robyn INSISTED he call each wife while she sat in the room and listened. My impression was the Original 3 had had enough of Robyn's hijinks, especially since they did not get a 2 week honeymoon, all expenses paid. Not surprisingly, again in their book, the wives were a bit peeved by Kody calling them (are you seeing a pattern of behavior here?) literally digging that knife ever so much deeper in their backs as they were reminded who he was with. I remember that at least one of the wives refused to take his phone call (Janelle?).
Another would be when Christine's water broke with Truely, Robyn ran after Kody and laid a huge kiss on his lips as he tried to rush to the hospital. According to their religion, a single woman can't kiss a married man until their marriage. To do so would be the same as adultery. But it's on tape...They locked lips and Kody joked about being kissed by his girlfriend while his wife was in labor. Now supposedly Christine has said she wanted Kody to kiss Robyn, but that's a bunch of bull...Christine was just trying to save face.
And that's just a couple of incidents from season one!
And I agree with Amused, too! (I didn't see your comment)
DeleteBrilliant, Amused and CJ!
DeleteAmused, there are so many angles to Robyn’s behavior, and I love your insight into her financial/business maneuverings. Very clever of that fink to enter the family at just the right time and put herself in the best possible situation for financial gain. I think you’ve got the whole motive part down: while Robyn wants to usurp love and attention from the king, it’s only a tool to be in the best financial position possible. She sealed the deal by becoming the legal wife, and surprise-surprise, she doesn’t have to be that nice to the king anymore!
CJ, goodness, you always touch on and remind me of moments in this show that are truly heartbreaking. It was terrible how Robyn tricked the wives into thinking their opinions mattered. And that kiss during Christine’s labor is unforgivable. All this and countless more things Robyn’s done, while she uses terms like ‘sisterwife code’ to feign her loyalty to the other women. Will this woman’s wretchedness never end?
Great points from you all, but please don't forget one of my favorite Robyn-true color incidents...the birth of King Sol when she said, something to the effect, " I've had your fathers child, I'm part of the family now, I'm here to stay, you have to accept/like me. " of course I'm paraphrasing but I remember her saying it when Hunter came around to hold the baby. Those words were so contrived and manipulating. So true to her master plan of control.
DeleteHer amazing ability to be a victim and abuser at the same time is pathological.
Example- "I never had a crib for my first babies, but I left the marriage with a $1000 bill from Victoria Secrects. " huh? What? I'm supposed to feel sorry for you , a poor victim of excessive lingerie and not enough money for a crib. Phsyco!
I'd forgotten about the VS bill! Way to prioritize Robyn.
DeleteAND...when Maddie said she didn't want to sign that commitment statement, Robyn said any child that won't sign it can leave the family. This is from memory but I think the Original 3 wives did overrule her edict immediately but Robyn protested by equating signing with doing chores and that you can't tell a child it's ok not to do their chores. Something like that.
DeleteThe comment about her sad tale of woe for not having a crib with her other children reminded me of the fact that she opened a PO Box so that fans could send her gifts. People offered to pitch in for child care gear for Solomon because they believed the family was in financial distress because of the "flee from prosecution" and she couldn't afford newborn items.
DeleteAlso, she later stated that she believed in whatever it is called where your child sleeps in the same bed as you for years, so she didn't need a crib. She practiced it with all her kids, including Solomon.
DeleteThe thing about Robyn for me that I truly cannot stand is her total refusal to ever accept responsibility for anything that has gone wrong in her life. Thousands racked up in credit card debt? Not her fault. Bad credit? Not her fault. An unplanned pregnancy? Not her fault, even claiming rape which is not believable in her case. My Sister Wife's Closet failing, yet again not her fault. Kissing Kody while Christine was in labor before she was married to Kody? Not her fault. It goes on and on with this woman. It's gonna be epic when the show ends, the money is gone, the houses go, and she is the wife with the youngest kids to support. She is going to sell Kody up the river so fast his head is going to spin.
DeleteI think the biggest reason I have no sympathy for Robyn is the way she portrayed her ex husband as this abusive rapist on national t.v. I doubt very much that he is, but let's just say he is, what kind of mother says this on a reality show, in front of all her kids? Her "purity speech" had to leave lasting scars for her first 3 kids. I don't believe her stories of abuse either because magically after her first husband signed over custody she let her kids go visit him. I know if I had kids with an abusive ex, I wouldn't send our kids to go visit him alone, especially once he had no parental rights. I truly feel terrible for her first 3 kids for having her as a mother.
Sorry for the rambling, but I remember way back to the first full episode with Robyn where she went on a date with Kody and gave her sob story. I was watching the show with my mom and she immediately said that the other wives shouldn't trust her, that she has an agenda but I didn't think she was too bad. My mom was right again of course. It isn't all Robyn's fault that the family appears to be crumbling since she married into it, but it's not a coincidence either.
Ayumi, please don't ever stop commenting. I have been on this board for years and work in mental health and your comments are the most clear, astute, and well written. You nail it every time. Right on the mark.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anon 3:05PM! I'm always having "Whoa, I didn't see that..." moments when I read through the comments. This place is a feast of psychological insights, thanks to the Brown Family smorgasbord.
DeleteAgreed all of the post are insightful, funny, truthful and very entertaining. CJ has set the tone for very high brow snark worthy of her talents. I have commented before that it is a challenge to keep up with the fantastic wits here. Love this blog and previous SWB that keep me sane after watching these clowns.
DeleteSome of my favorites venom from Robchin...
Worried out loud the team t-shirts for the 5 k wouldn't fit Janelle.
Telling us how concerned she was about whom and where to deliver her bills too when first joining the harem. Grift much?
Constant reminder of her womb bed and breakfast offer, to "bits of Kody and bits of Meri".
Thus making her a saint of sisterwives.
The evil David Jessop X husband that was stripped of his children legally, stripped of his name sake son and even expunged off their birth certificate but is good enough to have custody 3 of "Kody's kids" for summer months two states away. Yeah that all makes sense.
She claims to have lived in a ran down trailer with no heat, treated/abused by X husband, and not properly outfitted for three babies, but left the marriage with bills for lingerie, not nursery furniture or utility bills but had $1000 worth of underwear.
And let's not leave out her counciling that seems to get her the most camera time, most fake tears and clearing the throat noise. I believe they said that the original 4 didn't know how to fight until Robyn manipulated them all to seeing things her way.
She always stated that she needed and got more of Kody's time. After all she self proclaimed herself as the "sex" wife. Must be all that Victoria Secret crap she wore under her modest clothes.
I've had my moments hating on all these folks but Robyn has been a steady target for my snark since day one. I've never felt compassion or empathy for her fake personality. "She-Ra" the most powerful manipulator of them all.
Wanted to comment on the picture of Hunter graduating from the Air Force Prep Academy. He is showing his completion certificate with another certificate granting his admittance to the Air Force Academy. This should be HUGE news for that family! But, no mention that he was accepted into the academy - just announcement of his graduation from prep school. Not everyone makes it out of prep school into the academy - about 75% - which proves to me that once again the Brown's are clueless. Remember all our talk about them posting he was at the Air Force Academy when he was at the Prep Academy? We could never decide if they were being disingenuous or just clueless about where he was going to school. This proves to me that they still don't have a clue. They either just assumed he would automatically pass on to the Air Force Academy from Prep (which was a big assumption) or they again just still don't get the difference and therefore, are not commenting on this momentous achievement!
ReplyDeleteI follow the live tweets during the show, and I'm pretty sure it was tweeted or re-tweeted that he received his acceptance several weeks ago. There were a lot of congratulations to him, and I think he may have posted it on Instagram, but I don't follow any of them there, just read the live tweets here.
DeleteAlthough that doesn't take away from the fact that the Brown's are clueless and disingenuous.
Well 10 minutes into the show & we're back in therapy with Janelle, Meri & their 20 year feud! Seems like another fake storyline for ratings because neither one of them looks terribly interested in fixing things!
ReplyDeleteIn their therapy sessions, Janelle seems intimidated by Meri but like she really wants to work on their relationship. Meri, however, seems smug, entitled and angry. I wish they'd just lay the obvious on the table and move forward (I.e., Meri stating she doesn't want to share her husband anyway, but definitely not with her ex-SIL).
ReplyDeleteExactly!!!!
DeleteChristine and her "monogamous grass" comment. She is so catty!
DeleteChristine (and the rest) demand that the world respect their union, but is absolutely oblivious to the fact that she continuously disrespects monogamy and, really, men in general.
DeleteMonogamous grass? What was her comment Liz?
DeleteChristine was talking about polygamy and how hard it is and then made some comment about she won't be tempted by the "monogamous green grass on the other side"
DeleteThanks for the explanation Liz!
DeleteMeri's body language and facial expressions when Janelle was talking were offensive. She was almost rolling her eyes. Meri doesn't even seem to be trying.
DeleteMeri is so over all of it. I guess TLC is paying her well otherwise I think she would have been long gone already.
DeleteWHY did they name Robyn's baby Arellano? She says freaking ariola every.stinking.time. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteMeri only made those paintings to get in Mariah"s good graces.
And what Maddie said about Logan's girlfriend was so so very sweet.
That's all I have for now LOL
I agree! That was the first thing I thought when I heard her name! Of course, Kody is so proud and taking all the credit for deciding on that horrible name! Poor thing!
DeleteAnd now it's the Kody Show...
ReplyDeleteAnd what's with Christine and her "monogamous grass" comment? I think she'd LOVE to be monogamous, (because she mentions it constantly) but doesn't have the guts to do it. She doesn't think she COULD do it.
ReplyDeleteThat's right Christine...taking care of a man by yourself is hard work lady.
Haha-notice that too! It's sooo awful having your husband all to yourself! Ew gross! Especially since making friends outside of sister wives seems to be so dysfunctional!
DeleteTV has been on...not paying attention to it except to turn the channel when catching ALL of them pretending that Sobbin was:
ReplyDeletea- a surprise
b-a "maybe, if it worked out" courtship
Beyond being disinterested in this farce of "a show".....in lieu of the Orlando tragedy/horror tonight.........
How dare ALL of them agree to film such utter Bullsh**t ?/!!
But they Do....they do dare to pretend that Sobbin was anything more that a bargaining chip with TLC!!
Sick opportunists.......all of them
I'm done tonight.
** Prayers for all the victims of the Orlando massacre.....
For all the injured and for all the families of the deceased. **
The hatewatchers and some of the fans are bailing tonight. Tweeting that it is too boring, etc. Now, I'll just have to wait until it's over to read the comments here from those who could sit through it. The comments are the only reason I like that the show is still on. I kind of want it to be cancelled, so I can watch the foreclosures because Kody sucks.
ReplyDeleteI was just telling my daughter the only reason I watch that stupid show is because I have to come to cynical Jinx living room to dish with you guys!
DeleteOh and I'll make it through the first 15-20 minutes of the Kody special. I had to turn that crap off I couldn't take it
DeleteU had to watch my Penguins win the Stanley Cup, and catch up on Hamilton's 11 Tonys. Of course, I missed nothing on Sister Wives - just more fake therapy, crying on the couch and tree pictures.
DeleteSorry for the typo - I had to watch my Penguins... but I hope you all did, too!
DeleteOf course Christine doesn't even bother to wash her hands when she comes over to hold the new baby! I guess it wouldn't make any difference since Robyn's house looked filthy while she was giving birth, and the midwife couldn't be bothered to tie her hair back during Robyn's labor. That poor "baby sister" has been exposed to more germs in her first two weeks of life than most adults.
ReplyDeleteI saw Christine rubbing her hands while standing there talking to whoever had the baby, and I wondered if she had put hand sanitizer on when walking in the door, maybe it was in the foyer, for people to use? But unsure. And yes, I agree with many on here, that house is so cluttered. The baby was put in a bath towel, a purple one, that you couldn't sanitize with bleach during a washing, so I wondered how many people had dried their bodies off with that same towel. Or did they just grab it from the adjoining bathroom's towel bar? blah! And why does all their homes look like they all shop at the same place, Hobby Lobby maybe?? Trinkets and quotes, and every inch of Robins house has something on the walls, floors. Do they not like simplicity at all? It is just too much for me. Cluttered. YOu know they didn't clean that bedroom like it should have been. Or the bed sheets. Probably the same sheets her and Grody slept on the night before. Yuck.
DeleteOH wow, I must be slow! I finally just realized why meri talks so slow on the couch interviews. She's reading lines the producers have written. Christine runs through hers quick, almost like a child reading in class because when she's finished, she grins like " didn't I do a good job"? While meri really stumbles with her reading and trying to Adlib .
ReplyDeleteOk like there was ever a chance that Robyn wouldn't go to Hawaii. But I betcha Christine was secretly hoping she wouldn't (wink wink)!
ReplyDeleteKind of the way Robin looked when Meri didn't leave the family and gave them tree pictures instead. I could tell Robin was totally disappointed LOL!
DeleteBwahhhh! Hilarious Liz!
DeleteLogan is starting to remind me more and more of Kody. He sits like him, and now he starting to dominate the conversations on the couch. I see where TLC is going . They're hoping we will get reeled in by engagements and weddings and probably grandkids.
ReplyDeleteMichelle seems to have an opinion, but is also completely enamored by him. Kinda like Kody 'n Meri
DeletePiper, I was thinking the same thing about Logan.
ReplyDeleteLogan and Michelle look a lot alike
ReplyDeleteI agree. So do Maddi and Caleb. Thought so watching both couples on the couch.
DeleteOh my gosh! They both do!!! Woah!
DeleteI just tuned in..is the whole show recaps of past episodes??? not worth watching then
ReplyDeleteThe first hour was Meri groveling and giving some paintings to apologize to everyone. The second hour was a re-cap of the Brown's chaos. Not worth watching, but it is always interesting to see how much the family has changed since the show started. They never should have added Robyn, it was like someone waved a magic wand once she joined the show and the adults started falling apart.
DeleteSo true anon 1:41pm , before Robyn...
DeleteMeri had scenes with bonus kids that she was invested in, loved and seemed to have fun. The Christmas pajama tradition was very loving.
Janelle was working and productive and even though she was "checked out" it made sense because she was a working mother of six!!! I'd be comatose too on my time off.
Christine was fun and productive teaching the home school to all kids and very sincere and warm.
And then came Robyn. Making them all depressed, self doubting, jealous and fake. The fake laughing and cheerleading for Kody is just pathetic. The struggles and clinical depression that has all been recorded these last 5 years should be used to teach psychiatrist and psychologist. And the manipulation and lack of empathy from Robyn is classic psychopathic behavior.
Meri was so trim too! Her hair looked nice, she seemed to light up from the inside when the littles came around. She is so sad now!
DeleteIn the previews for next week:
ReplyDeleteRobyn asks a very bitchy question of Caleb/Maddie right when they are asking Kody to marry them.
Also, all this fanfare for the new baby, it almost seems like it's done almost in a mocking way. Maybe because we know it's so over the top fake. Also, did Truly get such fanfare?
When Kody asked Christine why she didn't bother to take the baby for the night, I wanted her to ask him if Robyn ever offered to take Truly for the night.
I just realized tonight why princess Areola is so sheshul. She's only the second legal (and biological) Brown child. I guess she ranks right up there next to Mariah now.
DeleteOh lord! I never even THOUGHT of that!!
DeleteWow, yes! Not born out of wedlock! The nuance! Oh my
DeleteI don't think we ever even saw Truely after the initial birth at the hospital. This blog community commented constantly about not seeing her and especially Kody holding her for a couple of years. In my perception it was all about being broke in Vegas, sisterwives all depressed after leaving Lehi, sad kids and of course the ridiculous Junk selling website. We never saw Truely!
DeleteThen I remember the episode where Kody carried Truely around looking at houses at the cult-de-sac. Definitely a result to this blog community complaints of the neglect of Truely.
I don't think anyone can forget how see was neglected to the point of being in the hospital of kidney failure when Kody was caring for her. What a nightmare.
So now we have the second issue Brown from Robyn that we all need to worship because she is magical. Just like Sol, she will be brought to the horde and told to greet and acknowledge her as special!!!! I know from what is on tape that the first 13 ( not counting the Jessops) with the exception of Mariah were worshipped like these two with Robyn.
So yes, you are definitely onto the 2 legal children being "entitled " !!!
We're "Not" worshipped, I meant to say.
DeleteCult-de-sac omg
DeleteIt will be interesting in 10 years or so to see how Kody's other kids really feel about all the attention Robyn's kids get. Dayton seems to have gotten off easier than her other kids attention wise, and it was so nice to see him joking and laughing with the other teen boys last night. However, you just know there's a ton of resentment festering based off the blatant favoritism.
DeleteSorry Sister Coldsore, being the 2nd legal child is not special. That is "just paperwork." ;-)
DeleteNice one, "paperwork" those two pesky birth certificates that have Kody's name on them. It must be horrible having that paper trail haunting him. Oh and I guess now three more birth certificates for the Jessop kids. I guess good old Robn has all her bases covered except King Sol.
DeleteLisa- I'm wondering if Sobbyn had Koduche legally adopt Sol when he adopted the other kids. Since they weren't married when she had Sol, I wouldn't think Kody would be on the birth certificate, but I could be wrong. Sobbyn seems to get everything else she wants (and then some) so why not a bonus adoption to boot?
DeleteAm I the only one who noticed Maddie said Logan had to act the Adult, protector and gave up so much. There is a rousing endorsement for polygamy where there are lots of Moms to meet your needs.Yes. I broke and watched the show. It took my mind off that shooting. I also wanted to thunk Janelle with first her"Meri takes over when I do nothing" . Lazy wench. Then She is disappointed in Christine for the "fundamental " reason Kody built that darn rock thingy. Would the fundamental reason be them being fundamentalist Mormons ? I loved when Christine would not back down to Janelle.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone from day one remembers Logan awaking 5 siblings at 6:00 am to cook a hot breakfast for all and loving get them off to school while bio dad was sleeping with one of his girlfriends. And mom was already at work to support the family. I think we all collectively agreed that Logan was the only adult in the family. I always found that Logan and Maddy were the only two that had a healthy outlook and honest perception on polygamy. They seem authentic and sincere. They seem to have flourished in spite of the parent drama and the ever growing horde of siblings.
DeleteThat's why I had no problem with Logan moving out while attending UNLV. Kid earned a break. I'm glad he seems to be making the most of it. I hope he actually graduates and gets the hell out of Dodge, with or without this girlfriend as wife. ;)
DeleteWhen Logan, Maddie and their significant others were sitting on the couch talking, Logan commented that he and his GF did not plan to be polygamous. He said that the Brown adults "benefited from polygamy", but he gave no details. I'd love to know what he and the other kids think the benefits of polygamy were to their parents (other than having multiple 'moms' and a huge family of siblings).
DeleteSurely they realize their respective mothers settled for having only a small percentage of the love/attention/respect from their husband than they should have, that the moms were often very lonely when Kody was with another wife, etc.
What possibly do Logan, Maddie and others see are benefits of being polygamous? Hearing him say that left a very unsettling feeling in me; although they've personally elected to be monogamous, do they really not see the abuse, pain, jealousy, etc, etc, in polygamy that we see? Do they think that other than the multiple wives and the many half-siblings aspects of polygamy, that it's fine and dandy and healthy? Do they forget the times they didn't see their father for WEEKS (iirc, it was at least 3 weeks that Janelle said she didn't see him when they were in the rental homes) because he was busy with another wife or was mad at one. I have a feeling they are fine with polygamy and they would defend and back it just as strongly as their parents do. I guess I was expecting more and different from them. Maybe since they mainly grew up while the family was still living together their experiences were much different than the kids like Hunter, Paeden who may have an entirely different opinion on polygamy.
Oh yeah, Logan knows that polygamy is a pile he is just too nice to call his parents out yet, particularly on their own reality show. I still really like the Brown kids, even Mariah has grown up a little. It's very telling that none of the kids are choosing to go with polygamy. Bet Mykelti is going to get married next and convert to LDS, hence Kody's irritation with her last night.
DeleteI think Maddie chose to get married so young to help fill the void in her life from having a dad who can't even remember her childhood. Now she has an older man who only wants her and gives her tons of attention. Caleb seems like a nice, calm, quiet guy, not an attention ho like Kody. I hope things work out for her.
The benefit the adults receive is that they will be a god and goddesses in the afterlife. *yes, I'm rolling my eyes as I type it* but honestly, that's what the adults believe. Ugh.
DeleteThe biggest benefit of polygamy is sharing your closet with your "Sisterwifes" (grammatically and spelling incorrect) because Both kreepy Kody and Junk jewelry are in the closet.
DeleteI am glad someone brought up the comments Maddie made about Logan. I think the subtext was oozing out of every word. Logan was the man of the house and definitely took care of his younger siblings. I sense strong feelings against polygamy from all of Janelle's children (except maybe Savannah), and I've often wondered if those opinions were formed during the time Janelle left Kody and was on her own.
DeleteHow terribly difficult it must be for the kids to continue to hold their tongues and maintain so positive on camera. I imagine a little truth telling would cost them everything. Even Caleb has adopted a canned response. Live and let live, but it's not for me. Full stop.
Oddly enough, Mariah was the one who stated a couple episodes ago that she basically stopped drinking the Kool-Aid and changed her belief system after she started to get an education. That might have been the most damning statement a family member has made against the religion on camera, especially considering how deep Mariah's convictions were for the faith during high school.
I made a list of the things I noticed while watching.
ReplyDelete1. Kody Asking Christine why she didn't offer to spend the night and help Robin take care of the new baby (sounded judging and implying she doesn't do enough for Robin to me)
2. The intense focus on the new Baby. (While a new baby is very special, none of the other children besides Solomon, including Truly at her birth ever get this level of focus)
3. The talk about how the new baby is special, comforting to all and almost never cries or fusses. I know all mothers adore their babies, but they made her sound almost supernatural in the way she soothes everyone who touches her.
4. Kody was filmed packing while at Robin's house and once again only appears to live there.
5. Robyn had a snarky smirk while the conversation about Mykleti never coming home was aired. She seems to enjoy it when Kody is frustrated with another wives children.
6. Christine for one of the first times every spoke out against Meri, when she complained about her interupting the packing. Might have been a legit complaint, but I find it notable that with Meri's fall from grace, people are getting mouthier about her.
7. Kody blaming the divorce on Meri - saying that she surprised them and asked for a divorce and describing his anxiety and going /oh, no what she is going to say now/. This was pretty dishonest. We all know that Kody and Robin wanted and pushed for the divorce and the real thing he is anxious over is Catfish.
8. Meri sounded really desperate and sad during the meeting where the paintings were given out.
9. Mariah wasn't paying attention at the meeting and was texting. (Although she still is pretty young and she was legitely quite hurt by Meri)
10. Aurora had be the first one to get the flower necklace and had to point out she was first to the camera man.
11. Maddie gushing about Logan caring for her and her siblings during childhood, made it sound as if Logan was the dad around that house and not Kody.
12. Maddie was really emotional and her stomach seemed swollen. Could she be pregnant?
13. Watching the clips, Meri looked so much better 6 years ago, like a whole different and much prettier, healthier and happier person.
14. Watching the clips, they were way more modest at the start of the show than they are not. They were more spiritual as well.
15. Kody actually said "I was drunk my own arrogance." So true. He always is.
16. Christine is currently the best looking of the wives. Meri is the worse looking.
17. Christine's laughter during the Kody segment was so over the top, it seemed manic or faked.
18. Kody actually called his hair cool. (Wow he is clueless)
19. Janelle said that Kody is a great guy, because he makes changes. Really? I have yet to see any positive changes in him.
20. Janelle actually threw Christine under the bus regarding the rock sculpture. She used to be my favorite wife, but not any more. She seems like a mindless yes woman, saying brain dead comments to make Kody look better.
I have to say Christine is my favorite now. She has serious issues, but at least she seems to care about the children and mean well and she rarely throws a sister wife under the bus. Rarely not never.
Excellent observations!!
DeleteGreat list! At one point when Christine was talking, Kody was all frowned up. He almost never smiles when she talks. It really does seem like she annoys him and gets on his nerves.
DeleteAurora-the first to get her lei. Not surprising.
Ari is the new Golden Child. I actually like the full name tho. Problem is it sounds too close to Aurora.
It is amazing how much the Browns have changed since the first season. Meri looks like a totally different person while Kody and Robyn have aged about 15 years in the past 5. I think the addition of Robyn sucked the life out of the family.
DeleteIt was also very interesting to look back and hear Meri say she didn't want things to change with kody marrying Robyn and she didn't want it and Christine say Kody had a vision of marrying Robyn before she'd even met her which made her uncomfortable. Sounds like the wives didn't have much choice after all, surprise surprise.
I have no doubt that Logan was the "father" figure for Janelle's kids and probably Christine's too while Kody just came for the fun times.
Robyn was bugging the heck out of me by trying to make her poor baby out to be something mythical, she's a baby who had a rough birth, stop trying to bring more attention to your kids. It's obvious Kody is always at her house and gives her kids more attention.
I could sense the desperation in all 4 of the wives last night to keep the show going. I wonder if TLC has given them some ultimatums? My bet it Meri is ready to bolt the second the show ends, it's painful to watch her pretend to care.
Great list - it was especially surprising and disappointing that Janelle was on Kody's side regarding Christine's "anniversary" trip and rock tower. Christine should have had a weekend to feel cherished and special. It was bad enough that the therapist was along for the ride. I have liked Janelle but that was a low blow to Christine's psyche.
DeleteAnon 532 a.m., I too, noticed the reference of the baby never fussing, comforting to all, she has "this thing" where she just makes everyone want to sleep, peaceful if you will. Yet, I heard Robin say in her talking head, that the baby had colic. So which is it? She is the perfect baby, never cries, or she has colic? I had two colicky babies, and believe me, they are not peaceful. The cry hard, and for hours. So unless she thinks a little fussing is considered colic to her, or she is pretending she has a mythical lil princess with special gifts, that a great fairy gave her in her crib, while sprinkling pretty fairy dust onto the babe, declaring she will never cry, and she will be the perfect, brown, specimen.
DeleteRegarding Mariah texting and seeming disinterested during the gift opening/painting reveals, I think Meri really doesn't get all that Mariah is upset about. I think Mariah's eyes were opened to a lot at college and with all of her feminist Twitter posts, I can see her being appalled by her mother's grovelling (or being forced to grovel) in this way.
DeleteI too think Maddie is pregnant with the crying over Logan. How many people took advantage of a guy who is what 22? Were they people in the family because he was not dating that long was he?His speech about doing things first was odd. Did he not realize he is eldest. Both he and Maddie do not enunciate their words very well. She speaks through her teeth and him slurred words. It probably did not matter because no one listened to them anyways but if Logan was the Adult ,the pinnacle, we have problems. He is going to a doctors assistancy? Not assistant? I would think good communication skills were important to a doctor's assistant.I do not think he is too bright. And frnkly he has an oddly small head.I would love to see Janelle and Kody's family tree.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, some of these observations are hilarious. I too noticed the assistant-see? What was that?
DeleteAbsolutely Maddy pregnant! See has always been a little thick but the loose clothes , the obvious middle bump even when she came home to talk to everyone about Caleb and really thick around the middle and super emotional is not her usual personality.
Also explains why "country bumpkin" Janelle put up no fight to discourage her decision to marry quickly, move away from school and ultimately quit.
By hilarious I mean spot on - things I just noticed when you said it. Didn't mean any sarchasim.
DeleteI read my post and thought the first line could be taken wrong.
She didn't look pregnant in the wedding photos I saw posted. It was last Saturday, and this would have been filmed months ago. We'll find out soon enough, unless she's pregnant and they try and hide her due date.
DeletePhoto shop
DeleteThe wedding photos that have come out so far. as expected, the moms were dressed just horribly, Meri was in sued fringe long vest
DeleteIn addition to enunciation, Maddie (and Caleb) and Logan need to learn table manners. The conversation at the luau was painful to hear, because of the lack of substance, the delivery and the talking with mouthfuls of food. How many times have we heard the Brown children ask each other if their dates expect them to be polygamists? At least once a season.
DeleteApparently, the state of Montana is crawling with rabid Sister Wives fans who stalk Caleb to ask about Kody - but it's only happening now that he's engaged/married to Maddie, not when he was Kody's brother's brother-in-law. Yet, David Jessop can remain a recluse...
Every week I'm reminded of how much I love Paedon. He's such a cute, tall, gentle giant kid.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness he is huge, what a sweet kid. I was amazed at his adult appearance. Has to be a restive gene back to Wynn, Kody's dad and Christine's family wreath because he towers over little Kody.
Delete* recessive gene* since I can't type or proof read I'm going to work.
DeleteThanks CJ for hours of entertainment through the years. The fun and thrill ride of looking forward to sharing on this blog after watching the show. I Truely watch the show so I can come here to participate. Thanks a million CJ, I enjoy every post.
Thanks for enjoying the Living Room, Lisasumms!
DeleteSeriously, this midwife should have had changed from her street clothing into scrubs. She needed a face mask or eye protection of some kind. Her hair should have been tied back. She got a face full and it's her own fault.
ReplyDeleteVee
Agreed. I thought about the street clothes as soon as they wanted all the family members to change their shirts to hold the new baby. At one point the midwife ducked way down into Robyn's neither regions and I thought, whoa, I had two babies and no one ever put their face that close to me.
DeleteIs that midwife blind? Had to get real close to see or what?
It was weird and very scary on many levels. When I saw that blue baby I just started crying.
1. Robyn not a spring chicken
2. Baby really big
3. Concern about her position before delivery
All this adds up to high risk and I really felt anxious watching.
Robyn got lucky this time, but I really hope if there are anymore babies for her she chooses to go to a birthing center or a hospital. There were a lot of red flags that seemed to get ignored for this last birth.
DeleteI took another look at the birth and that poor baby looked really blue, what were they thinking? And then they let everyone pass her around, oy.
Okay first, with Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, then Robyn's niece, and Christine's mother, there are a total of 7 adults. 18 children, with Logan, Mariah, Mckeltie, and Maddie moved out, that leaves 14 children left. Aspyn, Hunter, Paedon, and Garrison, are all 18 this year or older. That leaves 10 children left living in the homes, under the age of 18. 10 children, and 7 adults living there. This family makes it seem like they have it so hard, and need so much help with the children. Oh please.
ReplyDeleteTo be a fan of this show you are not suppose to be able to do any of the following: count, reason ,analyze or discern.
DeleteI wonder if the streak of the Brown kids leaving is going to continue with the next crop of kids coming up? Something makes me think it will continue. I also think that thanks to Kody being an absentee dad for the most part, all the girls are going to get married young with the exception of Mariah who seems to be exploring her sexuality (good for her!).
Deleteyes, yes anon 10:44 , I always feel that we are supposed to enter the kingdom of denial to watch this show. The kingdom where Kody is king, prince and jester. Where you simply rewrite history and lie to appear perfect.
DeleteAnd agreed anon 2:10, me thinks all the girls have daddy issues and will marry young to older men, like Maddy. I think there is a 8 + year age gap. If anyone can verify but I thought they said Maddy in her teens met Caleb in his late 20's???
Uhhh, these people !!!
ReplyDeleteHome with a miserable cold so figured I was in the perfect mood to watch.
Only got past the opening teasers before coming here to vent...of the Court Jester Idiot and the Queen and the 2 non-wives all looking expectantly at Meri as she stumbles with that fake "aw shucks" move she does when she is trying to follow the script (usually badly) to deliver her big news. Assuming the news is she hands out the wine and paint pictures. Yawn....!!!
Then the clip of the Meri/Jangle rematch with Nancy the renowned TV Plyg therapist, has Meri saying how auckward....hmm, correction...that is Jangle's pronunciation of awkward.
Anyway, Meri says how awkward it is sit and say all these things in front of Nancy. HUH!!??
I know I am congested but I can still hear......and think.
It's awkward in front of Nancy....but NOT in front of the camera to be aired for the world to see??!!!
Do I dare to go back and actually watch this load of BS?? Is it worth it??
May need more cold meds....and finger poised on mute and/or FF.
I would have blown a gasket if I'd been interrupted while packing for my whole family to go on vacation like Meri did, just to give Kody his birthday presents - something that could have been ANY other time (except it had to be done when they could film it, right?! UGH).
ReplyDeleteAnd, the "symbolism". SMH At least Robyn spoke up about how Meri is all about hidden meaning and symbols for everything and makes such a big deal about it. And, IDK about y'all, but I like to choose the art I hang in my house and just maybe, her sister-wives didn't all want to have to hang Kody's gifts in their houses. Gawd, their houses are such a hodgepodge of nicknacks anyway, I guess another painting on their walls won't make much difference.
I think the symbolism was Meri's marking territory or Kody in each of the other wives' homes. Since she has no chance of having a glamour shot with Kody and the Lexus, maybe wine paint-by-number drawings are the next best thing. She probably expects them to be hung next to the family mission statements.
DeleteLet's face it. Filming this show is the Brown family job. Production determines their schedule, and "Meri's gifts to Kody" was on the list for that day, as was "Family Packing Day". I seriously doubt anyone was pulled away from anything without advanced notice. I call BS on that one.
DeleteDo the Browns and TLC think that the more they re-air the clips from their exodus from Lehi and the more they talk about their oh-so-frightening persecution by the meanies in Utah, that the public will finally capitulate and believe them?
ReplyDeleteI say enough already, TLC. We've heard them talk about the same BS and we've seen the same clips, how many times now? Are they that desperate to fill an hour or two of tv time that they have to rehash the same old carp? Does the family not have anything interesting going on that they could film? Never mind, I know the answer to that question, lol.
But, OMG, give us a break TLC. Either show new content or cancel the show. We've seen some of the same film clips at least 6-8-? times. It's dead, stick a fork in it, it's done. Spare the viewers and the Browns the pain of more monotony and boredom and put this show out of it's misery.
Wow, what an insanely boring mess of redundant, ridiculous rehash of "nothing"....unbelievably bad TV !
ReplyDeleteIf this is the best TLC can do, or it is the caliber of the epps waiting to air, then they had best expect those needed ratings to disappear.
Great comments and insights have already been posted here, so I will try not to repeat what has already been said.
Hard to even call *disgust* an observation, but here goes...:(shallow as they are)
Since this heavily scripted/old clips "couch" episode took place at Meri's house...
If I was Meri I would have *on camera* suggested to Sobbin that she refrain from repeatedly pushing her shoe-covered foot against my polished wood coffee table.
Bad form, Sobbin....tacky, sloppy manners.
And oh lordy, is Jangle getting extra $$$ for again waving those "Kody Is Great" pom poms, or is she getting an extra squeeze from the Idiot as payment? Whichever it is, Jangle looks like the ultimate fool/ moron/ desperate wannabee fav wife (which will never happen) every time she does it.
Jangle, a word of advice....stick to vacantly staring into space, it has worked so far in allowing you to at least look a micro tad smarter than the other sycophants.
Ha!...Illusions are wonderful, aren't they??
Speaking of the Kody harem......
Is the makeup artist who glammed the babes for the couch shoot down to only one color eyebrow pencil?? And did she misplace her reading glasses? They all are wearing the same color eyebrows.
Sobbin is back to brunette, yet her brows were oddly drawn and too light for her hair. Their shape just emphasized her signature "worry" look. Hmm, maybe she likes that. Or maybe the makeup artist doesn't like her? Or...Sobbin does her own makeup, and in that case, go for it, Sobbin.
Meri has (sorry Mariah, you tried) defiantly kept her thin brows. But Meri...it's about having an "arch"...not a long half circle.
Apparently Jangle does not own a mirror, or she is color-blind. That top did absolutely nothing for her other than make her pale skin look mustard greenish. And when will she get that her single process bleach job needs some contrast.
Christine was on her giggle meds again, but at least she was somewhat "real" when Jangle was stumping for Kody about the rock pile debacle I think Christine has been reading some Empowerment books on the sly. Good for her!!
Could someone, maybe the producers, teach these cretins (namely Kody) that "her and I" is pathetic for a late 40's egotist to still be saying and looking all self-important. Couldn't his college kids drop a hint to dear old dad??
All in all, this week's TWO hour SW epp was a colossal waste of time...anyone's time !!
When is this season over.....can it be next week !!!??
Bravo Amused! You're on fire!
DeleteYes to all of these points. Let's see and hear more about Kody's hair extensions, rogan, mouse, just men hair color, beard coloring and signature dutch boy doo.
I wanna hear about his make up and anything that shows this guy is more flamboyant and obsessed with his appearance than any of the four couch pillows that sit beside him on the on the couch.
And yes all their eyebrows are crazy. Lol
Hair mousse, not mouse. I hate auto correct.
DeleteLisaumms,
DeleteThanks and LOVE "couch pillows".. !!!
LOL.......so aptly put !!!!!!!!!!!!
sad to see Janelle has re gained most of the weight she lost. Also, that pink blouse looks a lot like the one she wore in every episode in season one, and the intro, and New York. That sloppy pink blouse that was over sized.i thought she threw those out so famously and took pictures and posted on twitter
DeleteI wish there was a love button. Great post Amused!
DeleteI too feel the pain for Janelle and her weight journey. It is clear she eats her emotions and the sudden regaining of her weight coincides with the new "family structure". She was doing fine on her fitness goals even though it takes longer as we age and then they announced the divorce, dump Meri, marry Robyn and pretend it was for the kids lie. She was shocked when she sat there and you know she couldn't get those peanut butter Fritos in the oven fast enough when she ran from Meri's house.
DeleteAmused, I LOVE your candid posts! Hilariously accurate.
DeleteAw, thanks, Ayumi and Anon.
DeleteHow in the world does the Brown family believe this shows polygamy in a positive light? They all make comments how the grass isn't greener with monogamy.
ReplyDelete1. Meri and Janelle have hated each other since day 1 of being sister wives. To a point where Janelle moved out once, and twenty plus years later, they are trying counseling to have a type of friendship.
2. The show has shown us Kody and Christine struggling and having to endure marriage counseling, where the solution is basically for Christine to bottle her feelings, and just act happy that she gets to hang out with Kody, cause then he will want to spend time with you.
3. His Marriage to Meri has been rocky for ages. She was going to leave him for a another man, but got catfished instead.
4. When a sisterwife no longer has a child living in the house, she doesn't know her place within the family? Yep, that strong sister wife bond is alive and well, if you don't know your place, cause you don't actually help out with the other children. Isn't it great to say, you don't know your place in a family, you think you could at least fall back on being Kody's wife, but yet nope.
5. When none of the older children want to live a polygamy lifestyle. This tells you a lot. They encountered it everyday, and NONE of them want it for themselves.
6. That sister wife bond is so strong, that you have to bring in outside family, a niece, a mother, to help raise the children cause no one else is helping.
7. When you all live in separate homes. Each one wanted their own domain. Guess what? You are all basically living a monogamy lifestyle now. Each one with your own house, own kitchen, own children. Kody is like a traveling dad, and spends two nights a week at each house. None of them want to go back to sharing a house. (My aunt lived in the same subdivision as my mother. I would travel on my bike between my mom and aunt's house) These children basically have one mother, and three aunts that live in the same subdivision.
Your first sentence made me laugh out loud. Everything you said is spot on! No. 7 should be glaringly obvious to them, right? It reminds me - the SW HATE it when someone says "aunt". As if "aunt" were such a horrible concept. The problem is, I don't think the word "mom" means what they think it means...
DeleteEvery item exactly what I've observed from day one. You hit the nail right on the head.
DeleteWhat are the benefits again?
Built in babysitters they never use.
Lack of trust with other mothers.
Your kid can live with other mothers, which hasn't seem to be true, I'm sure Aspen won't last long with Robyn, just a ploy this season to show us how Robyn and Christine are besties now.
Help each other with new babies which didn't happen with Truely and apparently Jody is the only one allowed to help with Robyn's.
They keep saying all these benefits but we see none of them in action. Talking out of both sides of their face. Liars!
Robyn & Janelle will probably hang their paintings in the bathroom & Christine will hang hers in her "library/reading" room.
ReplyDeleteHa,ha,ha hilarious! Or maybe Janelle can get hers way up on that ledge with the saddle. Perhaps Robyn will put hers between the two huge Alice in Wonderland chairs. And agreed Christine's will definitely be in the library.
DeleteLove your post CB , soooo funny.
You nailed it. I think these women believe wholeheartedly that the phallic bond they share is stronger than any other bond between women. Please excuse the vulgar image, but they really believe that a communal penis is what binds them all in the most holy way. Those of us who are monogamous can't possibly understand the bond of two or more women who share one man's wiener. (Oh gosh, I'm so sorry I put that imagery out there...)
ReplyDeleteMrSpock is reporting in late, having just awakened from the the coma caused by watching last night's SW episode. The words "boring" and "repetitive" do not even begin to describe those two hours. The only part worth watching was the scene at the Kona airport on the Big Island---mainly because MrSpock was there two years' ago and it brought back memories of a wonderful vacation.
ReplyDeleteMrSpock came close to throwing a shoe at the TV when Kody's persecution story was re-played for the one millionth time. And a second shoe was almost on the way with Christine's "monogamous grass" comment. No one wants to trade places with you, Christine, and have to play doormat to a pretend husband in order to get scraps of his attention.
MrSpock will now return to his usual calm self.
Awesome MrSpock, so funny I laughed out loud to every sentence. Coma, induced by SW episode. Too funny but so true.
DeleteI was wondering where you were MrSpock!
DeleteGreat comments tonight.
All very mature and insightful.
Who knew such people watched this show?
:))
...Kody's persecution story with the added tidbit that is supposed to somehow make us feel even MORE sorry for him ... since .... sniffle.... he had to suffer through that trying time....sniffle...with such. bad. hair...
DeleteVulgar but right on sister!
ReplyDeleteNo this is not to vulgar. It's the truth. They all share one aging tool that appears to only work for Robyn.
ReplyDeleteI have been raised in a family of strong women that out number our men. I have great relationships with all from grandmothers to baby nieces. I have fantastic friends that are soul mates and as close as my biological sister.
I'm pretty sure than not one of them have slept with my husband. Most have always like or find my husband fun and kind. Never have any put the moves on him or have I ever felt I needed to watch out for such behavior. I think that is pretty normal behavior. But if I had to share him with any of my family or friends I too would be as I'll adjusted, depressed and lonely as these women appear to be on Sisterwives.
"ILL adjusted" not I'll adjusted. I need a bigger phone and smaller fingers. I've had a typo in everyone of my post today and auto correct is my enemy. Maybe I should just turn it off. Lol
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the birthing episode (thank goodness, with Robyn's water breaking like a tidal wave into the midwife's face), but I saw from many comments that her stepdad was all up in her "Lincoln Tunnel" (lmao, CJ!), so I wondered if they could have balanced the gallery out a bit by having a member of Kody's family there, as well.
ReplyDeleteLike, I don't know... Kody's stepsister, Janelle?
Which brings up another point -- did Janelle have her own stepfather (Kody's dad!) present at all her birthin's? Maybe it's a polygamy thing?
Lmao, AndreaF,
DeleteJanelle, stepsister, wife, sister in law, baby mamma, head cheer leader and business pal. Wynn at her "birthin's" not likely. I'm pretty sure Kody wasn't allowed to stroke her inner thighs either during the bumpkins birthin's.
Hahaha it felt like Robyn told her parents to be there for filming and they were literally...there...just sitting there watching their daughter push a baby out onto a bed. Like no big deal. They looked bored and out of place. Why does Robyn need so many people watching her give birth like she birthing the family heir? Is she the Princess Kate of the Brown clan? Geesh
DeleteI got a weird sense from it that it had something to do with status or recognition of the baby. Is Robyn from a prominent polygamous family? Or is her stepfather? I seem to remember that being a Sullivan was somewhat important (though not as important as Christine's bloodline).
DeleteAnyhow, it kind of struck me like Robyn's parents needed to bear witness the birth for some unsaid reason, and nobody seemed to find it strange, awkward or improper, except us of course.
I just now watched 3 episodes ago where Meri and Mariah are talking. 1. Mariah is not taking care of herself and has gotten HUGE and unhealthy. 2. If my daughter treated me that way I would tell her that I was yanking her private school funding and sending her fat tail to UNLV with the rest of the kids. Mariah seems to feel that she is special and entitled but she is really just a spoiled brat. There will come a day when she is brought down to earth and I can only pray that it is captured on film.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Mariah is a real jewel. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. That "legitimate " entitled attitude. Who can forget the car scene, fixed on the new house that had not closed yet. The judgemental text about Walmart shoppers being "ghetto" in Vegas. The fit about moving away from her school in Lehi, again private and different from other kids. Great idea to pull the money for expensive college in Utah and make her go to the UNLV or maybe UNLV is too urban for her. Yuck she is just repugnant.
DeleteI have to agree with the above comments. If I were on national TV, I would hope that I would increase the diet and exercise efforts over the years and look smaller each season, instead of larger like these people do. Mariah acts so superior and entitled, but she is not any better than the other kids and she may be getting a dose of reality now that Meri is no longer the legal and favorite wife. It will be interesting to see her fall from grace and watch her become equal with the other kids. Janelle was also not looking her best in the couch episodes when they talked about wedding venues. It is obvious that all exercise efforts have been abandoned when we saw her large stomach roll. The women in this family do not put any effort into physical fitness and health. They just get larger every year.
DeleteI have to say that one thing that really bothers me is that they all , especially Kody refer to the kids by their bio mom. Christine's kids, Janelle' kids etc. Kody never says "our" kids whenever he talks about the separate families. Always ownership is identified as the moms tribe. Kody never admires they are his. Maybe that is an extension of not putting his name down on paper. God forbid they won't qualify for government assistance after this show is cancelled. Does anyone else notice this pattern of identifying the child(ten) by mother only?
ReplyDeleteYes I have noticed that and yes it bugs me too.
DeleteRemember the scene where all the babes (excluding Jangle who declined due to her chronic aversion to fun) were dancing around Kody at one of the kids' parties.
ReplyDeleteThat scene was so ridiculous, but it made me laugh. It looked like some early civilization sex ritual of females dancing around a male in hopes of getting "his attention".....like dancing around a maypole....wink, wink.
This episode was even more boring than the boring ones before it. Like others have said, they’re using too many flashbacks much too often. The “storylines” are non-existent. At this point, watching SW feels like a personal penance. I’m trying to justify all the time it takes to watch, but I have to be honest with myself: I only watch it to come to CJ’s living room. That’s it. (TLC owes you some $$, CJ.)
ReplyDeleteI’m actually tired of Robyn being so repugnant. I used to like disliking her, but now I just want to shield my eyes when she’s on screen. She is literally painful to watch. Every one of her gestures oozes self-righteousness and entitlement. She’s always the most special – her kids, her everything. Robyn, Hell’s Snowflake.
I actually thought Meri’s creative endeavors were nice. I thought the paintings were touching, in that she spent such long hours and thought on them, trying to make them meaningful. Remember that Meri used to sew EVEYRONE in the family a set of pajamas every Christmas? She’s creative and she puts in effort for everyone when she wants to. When has Robyn done ANYTHING like that for the family? My point is, Meri is creative, and she CAN be a creative force when she has her head on straight. Christine can be quite creative when her meds are working. Janelle at least has a day-job. Robyn has nothing to offer the family. Nothing. She is not creative. She robs others of their creative energy. She is an emotional vampire.
I wonder what on earth Robyn will do when this show is cancelled? Work can’t possibly be an option, can it?
(Well, I guess I’m not really tired of disliking Robyn, afterall.) ;)
PS: Logan is utterly priggish.
I fear that (if the show lasts that long), in a couple of years, we'll have to suffer through an entire season of Sobbyn's fertility struggles as she tries to pop out golden child #3 after hitting 40 (2018...that hill's coming quick, Robyn!) I don't believe Kody will be content to stop having children once Sobbyn's biological clock stops ticking. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that when Kody decides to find himself a new brood mare, Robyn will willingly lead the charge, to make sure the new wife is someone she can manipulate and control. That is, unless she can somehow convince Kody he doesn't need any more kids (GOOD LUCK with THAT, sister!).
DeleteMercy, no Robyn fertility issues! And no more Robyn babies, for God's sake! I was laughing until I realized this could actually come to pass, and we could actually be subject to it... I don't think we've done anything to deserve that kind of punishment. Bring on the new wife though, and I'm game for another year or more.
DeleteYou're right - if Kody doesn't have more kids, what will he do with himself? (Let's just not even think about that...)
Oh no way is Kody ever going to be done having babies. Robyn better watch out, because when things go South it's going to get UGLY in the cult duh sac. I have the feeling that Kody is just pacifying her for now while she's still fertile, once that ends she's going to find out what it's like to be put out to pasture like Christine found out 5 years ago. I bet Kody used to kiss Christine's butt when she was still giving him babies, like he does Robyn's now, hence her surprise and subsequent depression when he stopped pretending. Guess that's something us boring monogamists don't have to deal with.
DeleteAnd you said it, all the wives have something to offer to the family except for Robyn. She is just the sex wife who makes everyone else miserable. She came with bad credit, debt, and no work ethic. Wonder how much money the family wasted on My Sister Wife's Closet? Kody was very unwise to legally marry her out of all the wives, I wonder if he can declare bankruptcy again?
Excellent reference, Amused! And they wonder why polygamy is seen as archaic and bumpkinish? Here we are in modern society, trying to emphasize that a woman is a whole being unto herself. And here these people are emphasizing that misogynistic belief that a man is woman's salvation on earth and in heaven. Yeah, polygamy's going to catch on, Browns.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice Maddies new name is Maddie Brown Brush?
ReplyDeleteAm i the only one who couldn't tell the difference between grody's good hair and his bad? Also they didn't have work or money then but they could afford expensive hair extensions? Really? How come no one is upset about that taking bread off thier table? Additionally I have noticed janelle and meri have very expensive vitamixes and kitchen aid appliances.....
ReplyDeleteThe only difference I noticed was the extensions were very straight and his natural hair is wavy and not well conditioned so it's frizzy. If anything I would say the fake hair looks better.
DeletePlease tell me again why meri, Janelle and Christine were not there in the bedroom when robyn had her baby. wouldn't that have been appropriate since they are all like "moms" to all the children? As for sister coldsore's comment on Robyn picking out kody's replacement brood mare, remember Robyn, Meri picked you thinking she could control you
ReplyDeleteI wondered that too. You would think at least Meri and Mariah would have been in the room, especially for Sol's birth? I could get why they weren't there if she wanted just Kody, but since her mom and step dad are in the room, one would think her beloved sister wives would be in there too.
DeleteAs it is, the other wives are probably so relieved queen Robyn hasn't insisted they be there to worship her as she gives birth to one of Kody's legitimate spawn.
Question of the day.....
ReplyDeleteSo why DOES "Stolen Purity" Sobbin have no qualms about birthing for the masses and not just for her mother and stepfather (and why does this guy so enjoy ringside seating at a dilated uterus?)..???
Could our gal Sobbin be a closet exhibitionist?
Or is there a $$ bonus included in being willing to literally unveil all for the show???
And then, of course, add in all the extra face time fretting about her pregnancy, midwife scenes, Kody doing his verbose best at explaining every blooming thing, detail, etc....then labor and delivery and the perfunctory family ooh and ahhs scenes, the endless THs....all this adds up to *significant* Sobbin airtime !! Solid proof and insurance that Sobbin is indeed the "star" of Kodyworld and will continue to squat on that spot as long as she can.
And hey, isn't it just an amazing bit of stars and glitter that as soon as Sobbin replaced Meri as legal bedmate, Sobbin got pregnant? But she didn't for four years after Sol when she was just another non-wife. Why it's almost as if that was an integral part of the/ her plan. Ya think ???
Also don't forget she said she wanted bigger boobs at her shower....to make Kody more gaga?
DeleteThe better to fill out those Victoria Secrets bras.
DeleteKind of makes you wonder what their definition of modesty is when they won't wear short sleeves/shorts but are fine showing their money shot to the camera men and the world? I don't think sharing your body fluids for the world to see is very modest. Same goes for the Duggar girls who have to wear skirts for "modesty" but are fine giving birth on camera.
DeleteExtra bonus points to Robyn for having her step daddy in the room, front and center when she's in hard labor. Even Jim Bob Duggar, another huge creep didn't insist on being in the room when his daughters are giving birth. Whoever said Kody is going to be in the room when his step daughters are giving birth but not for his bio daughters, I'm afraid you're right and that is truly disturbing.
Kody said that birthin' is sacred. Yet, Mom, Step Dad and TLC were there, at the foot of the bed, with their cameras, for the money shots of Robyn's spread legs. Robyn didn't mind them, but the viewers. Kody's expertise seemed to have come from his childhood on the ranch.
DeleteI wonder if TLC will show any footage of Meri hanging out with her forner Las Vegas bestie, Elisa Furr, in Hawaii?!? Meri was posting some "strong woman" posts when she was hanging out with her in Hawaii. It's interesting to see how much more comfortable and relaxed, Meri seems to be around outsiders than her own sisterwives and former lover, kodouche!
ReplyDeleteHey CB, Good to see you !!!!!
DeleteNo kidding! But then who can blame any of them for being uncomfortable around each other.
No two, let alone all four, are similar enough to have much in common beyond sharing Kody and his equipment. Doubt that any of them would choose each other as a friend if they were living over here in mono-grass world.
Hey there Amused :)
DeleteThat's for sure!! I've been reading all of your posts & as usual you're spot on! Like you, I didn't want to repeat what most have already observed.
Ha! Ha! Love the image of "mono-grass world," Amused. And, YES, it IS greener.
DeleteSo in the 2nd hour, in the old clip where they show Kody kneeling at Janelle's. Right after he finds the TV mount hardware he'd been looking for after driving around like a madman from rental to rental. Was that one of his blond weaves/wigs behind him on the brick?! Or what the heck was that?!?
ReplyDeleteLOL.......I forgot about that !! I noticed that too and thought WTH !!
DeleteGlad you remembered..... cuz inquiring minds need to know.
Obviously that item got past the editing elves. Anyone else have a clue?
So does Janelle/Jangle wear a wig?
Is Kody into "games" in the harem bed?
????????????
We got to witness what looked to be a rare and revealing unscripted moment, probably the best real moment in the history of the show, while the wives were watching the Galveston rocks debacle clip, and Meri leaned in to Christine and said, "This is a bad experience of him being a jerk." Talk about validation. Talk about the most honest description of
ReplyDeleteKody-in-a-nutshell ever by anyone on the show.
We know Janelle rarely registers on the emotional spectrum, flat-lining her way through most of the episodes, but she really revealed the extent to which she is detached and in denial when she chastised and mocked Christine as a childish, self-centered pouter. For God's sake, Christine was on her anniversary trip, undergoing relationship therapy with her
husband, the therapist asked them to build a representation of their relationship and where they saw it going, and Christine obviously dearly hoped her husband would want to do so. There was nothing wrong with this, and nothing immature about her reaction to what was Kody's coldest behavior yet on the series and one of his cruelest comments ever to Christine (but only one of them). Janelle has carved out such a comfort zone for herself being Kody's cheerleader (Brown-noser), not rocking whatever boat Kody happens to be in, that she has drowned out not only her objectivity but also her empathy. And what of her autonomy and identity? Forget hoping for sisterhood from Janelle--she's struggling to
distinguish between Sister Wife and Stepford Wife. Reminds me of when she did the same thing to Garrison in Alaska over Kody and Sol. No wonder Garrison has fast-tracked a ticket out of there.
Ewwwwww...
ReplyDeleteAbout kody's hair
ReplyDeleteI just watched the tree painting episode. I don't care for Meri and think that she is really annoying, but I did like the paintings and felt like she did a nice job on them.
ReplyDeleteSo, the birth:
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that long ago that I had my last baby. I think about her birth often - I was NOT as composed at Robyn. I was yelling at everyone to PLEASE. Let. Me. Push. I knew I was ready and so was baby and that pain is, well...it's insane, as many of you know. My sweet midwife was literally throwing things around trying to get ready b/c baby was really coming fast.
When I finally had the green light, baby was out in a push and a half. Literally. But, it was sweet and tender and oh, so perfect.
She laid on my chest for about half an hour before any nurse dared to ask for her (hospital policy is to keep baby on mom for about an hour). My daughter didn't even cry. She just laid there, warm and soft and just looked around. It was perfectly magical and I'm so grateful that even through my yelling, I had a sweet and serene time with her. She actually didn't really cry until she was a few days old. It was awesome.
Oh, and my babies are of decent size: Over 10 pounds for 2 of them, thank you very much. lol.
Anyway, I am telling you this because:
1 - I admire Robyn's composure. I don't know how she did it.
2 - I don't think it's fair to talk so negatively about the birth. I mean, neither Robyn nor the midwife planned to have the water break when it did. But, I'm sure the midwife has had worse and it's just something that happens.
3 - Most of us on here are mothers and may have fond memories of our own babies births. I know I do. I think birth, no matter how it happens, it an amazing thing. It's a personal thing and I'm just so sad to read the snarky comments on how Robyn's birth went. Robyn chose to film another birth, but we also chose to watch it. The comments about "Do we HAVE to see another gross and disgusting birth?" make me stare, because the answer is "NO!" No, we don't have to watch the birth. We can look away or turn the channel or turn the TV off completely. That's all there is to it. So, let Robyn have this one. Next time, if you aren't able to handle a birth that shows nothing graphic (like the placenta, which I HAD to see and touch with my births), then walk away.
4 - Poor Baby's name. Now that we know what the correct pronunciation is, maybe we could drop the Areola remarks. The baby didn't choose her name. If we REALLY want to be snarky about names, google the baby's name of: KVIIIlyn. That's K(Roman numeral 8)lyn. Katelyn, Caitly, Kaitlyn, Catelyn (however it could be spelled): http://metro.co.uk/2016/06/14/mother-gives-her-baby-the-the-most-ridiculous-unique-name-yet-5943694/
5 - Robyn's daughters standing outside the door: What a genuine and sweet reaction to hearing their baby sister cry for the first time. I am sure they went to bed dreaming of when they could be moms in their own time. :)
Thank you for sharing your considerate thoughts.
DeleteJust Me, I think you're projecting your own perception of the beauty of birth onto Robyn. It's wonderful that you appreciate your own experience of these lovely things, but our "snarky" remarks about Robyn are well-founded. Robyn is a despicable human being. Robyn uses lies and cunning to fill her food bowl. Trying to make us look petty for noting her horrid behavior isn’t the way to go. We’ve earned our right to make fun of Robyn. Robyn deserves a lot more than just the occasional snarky remark. Robyn has ruined many lives within that family, and it’s perfectly acceptable to call her out on it, AND to inject some humor at her expense. So here we go:
Delete1. No, I do not admire Robyn’s “composure”. Robyn’s behavior was all about self-righteousness and ingrained misogyny. It’s perfectly wonderful for a woman to express OUT LOUD her pain during childbirth. None of this “be ladylike” rubbish from a bygone era, when to scream meant a woman would be diagnosed with hysteria.
2. Yes, the water broke in a most unseemly way for the camera. Robyn was paid handsomely for it. We get to discuss how disgusting it looked until the next hideous thing Robyn does. She’s the one who chose to be “demure” and have a few million people watch her birthing process. That’s not our problem. And while birth is miraculous, “beautiful” is not how I would personally qualify it; It’s messy. Very messy. And we’re just being realistic when we point that out.
3. Yes, we did have to watch it, because we’re obviously “fans” of the show. That’s the whole point of this place. TLC forced their steady fans to witness that wretched display (again.)
4. If you’re that concerned about Aria, you should contact the Browns and suggest they put her up for adoption. We’re not the ones doing any harm – the baby can’t read. They, however, are parenting that innocent tot, and that’s the people you should be VERY worried about.
5. “I am sure they went to bed dreaming of when they could be moms in their own time.” I just don’t even know what to say to this…
Not that Ayumi's thoughts need any endorsing, not at all......however, some excellent points are made.
DeleteThe "show" is a show because of what footage is chosen to be aired. The show is called "reality" however it is designed to be a soap opera with dramas and twists, laced with "wait till next week folks to see what happens" BS.... that's what keeps those vital viewer numbers up.
But it is not just the viewer numbers that are the lifeblood since viewers can be fickle. In this day and age, it is the social media chatter that insures those coveted numbers stay consistent. SW was designed to be controversial. Reality shows are a breed of entertainment that feeds on loyal fans who observe and yes, snark the content.
The producers of these shows count on it.
Agree across the board.......birth is miraculous !!!
Birth *should* be a sacred event within a family.
It should not be penciled in as part of a filming schedule which will then carve up those dramatic birth scenes for ratings usefulness and effectiveness. And footage of the water breaking in the midwife's face could have easily been left on the cutting room floor.
But why drop a ratings gem like that??!!!
Well, reality is if all this is for the ratings and the $$ ...they wouldn't..and they didn't !!
And if a cast member of a reality show agrees "to birth" for the cameras, for the show....
then that performance will be discussed and yes, even snarked. Everyone involved from Sobbin herself down to the midwife knew they "and the birth" were part of the scripting for the show.
side note....And maybe that is why the midwife looked so"camera ready" as opposed to hair tied back, more sterile clothing, etc.
Well put Just Me. It detracts from the validity of the abundant legitimate things to discuss when half of the comments are not giving credit where it is due. I'm no Robyn fan, but she does do birth well. My births are a few years in the past and I was never as composed during my natural birth and accidentally peed on some nurses for a csection. I can't imagine if anyone were as mean spirited toward my births as some of the comments I see here.
DeleteNow, then...I wonder about Christine's nose. Why is it red on the tip sometimes?
ReplyDeleteShe reminds me SO much of Lady Elaine from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
Mariah's tears, "My mom did this to ME." Well, no. She did it to your daddy.
Paedon: Why is that kid so huge? Maybe he has a growth disorder. Like, he's really not normal.
I actually liked Meri's paintings. I thought they turned out nicely. I know I can't paint like that. I can, however, draw a mean stick figure. :)
We really are seeing more of Mindy. She has such an odd voice. I know she can't help it, but every time I hear her speak I have to stop and stare. I can't figure it out. I just keep thinking that the best story line would be to have her bed Kody as well! One can hope, I suppose.
Christine's mom - we see more of her as well. But she gets no camera time. I would love to hear her talk about how she observes her daughter's life with a plural family. And...I would never, ever have sex with my mom sleeping down the hall. No. Way.
The trip: I would laugh and pay big money to see Kody smiling at the camera as he closes the bedroom door to his wife of the night while on vacation. It seems like he did that with Christine in one of the first episodes. That would be icing on the cake. Maybe he could hang a sock on the doorknob as a bonus.
Oh Just Me, I love your optimism that Christine and Kody are having sex down the hall from Annie. I don't think it's an issue (the having sex down the hall from her mom) because I don't think Kody is having sex with anyone except Robyn!
DeletePaedon might just be a big guy. For whatever reason the men in my family are huge the shortest one measuring in at 6'3. While the women are short the tallest (me) coming in at 5'4. Sometimes genes are just a little funky.
DeleteI'm guessing Christine's nose is red b/c of rosacea. Most of my family members have it to some extent (thanks, Mom and Dad!). Makeup (especially in LV heat) doesn't usually do a very good job covering it up, either. It's a skin condition, it's not about drinking. My family and I don't drink, but we still have it. Some foods make it worse, but medication never helped a bit.
DeleteAlso, I have a friend who was quite a bit bigger than his tall siblings, even when he was 14 and they were finished growing. Clearly Christine passed along some tall genes from somewhere down the line.
OH, MY GOSH!
ReplyDeleteI JUST HAD THE BEST IDEA!!
This family needs to be on WIFE SWAP!
Can YOU ONLY IMAGINE??
All four wives go to live with someone...I can't think of who it should be, but some celebrity wife swap. Maybe you all can come up with a good husband.
And let Kody take ONE wife for a week.
Any suggestions?
Did any of you ever watch John and Kate Plus 8?
ReplyDeleteRemember when Jon got hair plugs?
Kody needs to do that.
I'd watch...I bet he'd be laid up in bed for a week and each wife could bring him some lovin' while he recovered. :)
Maybe Robyn could get her boobs done at the same time and show the camera how she has to push them down as she heals.
Maybe Janelle could get weight loss surgery!
Maybe they could all be hosted on "What Not To Wear" Is that show even still on?
Or maybe they could all (ALL) go through an extreme makeover! I'd pay to see that. :)
I have always said that this whole family desperately needs to be on what not to wear. They could bring Clint and Stacey back and do a special for the show. Teach these women that dressing modest does not mean wearing three layers of t-shirts 3 sizes to small. Seriously TLC you need new story lines pay attention, I rarely watch anymore( kody makes me cringe) and even I would tune in for that episode.
DeleteI know this isn't news to anyone here, but there is really something wrong with Robyn. She sat there stone-faced and emotionless while watching the first episode/first season clips of Christine's distress and panic at her husband bringing another wife into their family without her even being allowed to meet Robyn or weigh in on the matter, and more hardened-faced Robyn watching Christine's distress and pain over her husband heading out on road trips to have dates and fall for his girlfriend while Christine was pregnant, but when it came to the clips of Christine's hurt during the rock cairn incident, Robyn was all smiles, smirks, laughter, and enjoyment. Now, it's possible she was laughing at Kody, but no one else was laughing and there is nothing remotely funny about that entire rock therapy session. There is a little something in Robyn's face in those scenes, though I'm not sure if it's disdain or defiance or both).
ReplyDeleteThe couch clip of Kody explaining the scheduled group therapy showed a Robyn face shut down but yet full of emotion for herself--dreading it, persecuted, and pissed off. Wow, she really did not want to go to group therapy. It was at group therapy that she made her most revealing gesture of the series, in my opinion, when they were in the courtyard doing Nancy's position-yourself-in-relation-to-each-other therapy, after Christine had been floundering for quite some time to find her place, any place to be in relation to Kody (long after Robyn had immediately nabbed her spot shoulder-to-shoulder with Kody). Christine verbally expressed, yet again, her pain and distress, how lost and unsure she felt, and she finally went around to stand behind Kody. Kody started to turn to face Christine, seemingly to let her know she had a place with him and he wanted to relate to her, but Robyn immediately slapped a french manicured talons-dug-in-deep death grip on Kody's upper arm and stopped him from turning to face Christine, and he let her stop him.
...
.....
DeleteRobyn really has no ability to empathize with Meri, Janelle or Christine, possibly empathize with anyone, really. She is a cold, calculating, narcissistic person. Period.
Christine is seemingly the most loving, nurturing adult of the five, by a long shot. It's really been horrible watching her struggle ever since Kody and Robyn tipped the family off its foundation and all out-of-whack. It's apparent Christine has done the most for the family, certainly for the kids. Robyn, Meri and Janelle all possess the ability to be hard and mean in a way I don't think Christine possesses. Imagine this family without her in the equation. Her softer nature is precisely why she has been cast as the whipping boy and had to endure everything from Robyn dating Kody while Christine was pregnant to Robyn making out with Kody while Christine was in labor to Robyn preventing Kody from relating to Christine during therapy to seemingly having a say in nothing of import in this family.
Like the (insert diagnosis) that she is, Robyn isn't done with Christine. Something tells me Robyn's favorite movie may be Gaslight. Very recently Robyn told Christine during a couch chat that she hoped she wasn't stepping on her toes by having Christine's oldest daughter move in with her. Christine told her that she did have a problem with it. And, predictably, Robyn went right ahead and had Christine's child move in with her. Never mind that it's probably not a good move to let an adult child get all the benefits of moving back home but none of the responsibility that would have come with moving back in to her actual 'back home'. However Robyn wants things, that's the way they're going to be.
Robyn has clearly come between Kody and each of his long-term wives--emotionally, physically, and time-wise, she has come between
Kody and his other children in favor of her children (both those who are Kody's and those who aren't), she has come between Kody and his only legal wife--divorce of a 25-year marriage, she has come between Janelle and some of her children via Janelle's deference to the ruling King and Queen, and now she's inserted herself between Christine and her oldest daughter. Any fool can pick up on the hurt on Christine's face and in her voice when she talks about the situation. Any fool can pick up on her fake-it-till-you-make-it behavior when dealing with the situation. Robyn cares not.
CSM, I’ve really enjoyed your comments. Very insightful stuff here. I’m in total agreement with your views on Christine and how the family would really suffer without her. And everything about Robyn’s lack of empathy (posterchild for NPD,) are right-on. And that is exactly why she can step on Christine. Christine really has a playful soul, doesn’t she? She’s so nurturing. I get that. I’ve felt that from the beginning with her. She’s messed up emotionally because of that family dynamic, but I think her spirit shines through. And I agree, you can see her pain about the whole Aspyn thing. Very much so.
DeleteAlso, did you notice how smiley and cheery Robyn was when Kody was talking about Mykelti? Robyn loves dirt on the other wives’ kids. She can’t even hide her giddiness. Yikes.
With regards to Robyn's non-reaction to Christine's pain during the rock-building therapy session - I think it illustrates Robyn's narcissism beautifully. Firstly, no empathy. Secondly, she is never held accountable for her behavior. No one holds her accountable, and she can't fathom it. She's not responsible for the any relationship damage that happened after she entered the family. How could she be? Total disgusting Narc.
I appreciate the insightful comments that have been shared. I feel that the value, if I can find any, to this show is as a cautionary tale against polygamy. The sad and often abusive displays between the Brown adults show that this lifestyle is damaging for all involved. This group, (I can't call it a family-- well, the Mansons called themselves a family. . . ) has all of the financial advantages of being on television, they do not have to worry about money anymore or the fear of anyone finding out their secret so they should be able to live their lifestyle freely. But they have shown that even under the "best" circumstances they are still petty, bitter and manipulative.
DeleteThese women are damaged and abusive to each other. Kody has shown time and time again how unkind he is as a partner. His behavior towards Christine is terrible. I am sure that we all remember the camping episode when Kody ripped up Christine and the other women just ignored the behavior. It is so telling when Meri mumbles that she will let Kody yell at Christine because it is easier than facing him herself. All of the women pick on that poor woman. It is like watching someone kick a dog. She has the kindest heart and is the mist brainwashed of all of them. She is the only "true believer" and that sets her up for the abuse because she will NEVER leave. She will medicate herself silly and keep hoping that Kody will love her someday (too many Disney cartoons I suppose). The nacho incident was the beginning and now it is just the practice to pick on her. What I learn from this show is not that it makes them better but it makes monogamy better. When they spout their drivel and try to convince us that they invented happiness, I wonder who they are really trying to convince. Please cancel this show TLC so that this family can break apart and the women can seek happiness away from a camera.
"What I learn from this show is not that it makes them better but it makes monogamy better."
DeleteThe most accurate assessment and takeaway of all 7 years of SisterWives !!!
Bravo, Missy !!!
What I take away is from the Brown's lawsuit. They filed it, then ignored it on the pretense Kody was afraid to go back to Utah because he might be arrested. He went to Utah many many times with Robin but yet he was afraid? Then when the ruling came out in their favor, Kody still did nothing to help their ccause, but preceded to do what non-polygamist were afraid of by divorcing one wife to marry another wife making a mockery of marriage vows. No wonder the original ruling was thrown out. The Browns are some of the dumbest people on this planet!
DeleteI would like to have a diagram of the living arrangements at Robyn's house. I believe she has 5 bedrooms. One would go to Robyn and Kody. One would go to her two older girls. One would go to her son. One would go to Solomon and the new baby. And now one is being given to Aspyn. In the show it appeared that Aspyn had a room to herself. Where does Mindy stay? Is she bunking with the two older girls. Robyn's house is not so very different from Meri's. Mariah mentioned that her bedroom was small. Why on earth would Aspyn be given her own room? Are we to believe that she is really living with Robyn, or is it all for the show?
DeleteCan someone explain to me why a bonus mom would undermine another mom by having a bonus kid move in instead of going to their actual mother's house? Is this the FLDS where we are splitting family? For people trying to not give the impression they are living different from FLDS they sure look like they are the same.
DeleteThe problem with Meri....
ReplyDeleteMeri grew up in polygamy, and states that she wanted to live this lifestyle. But the thing is, she really isn't cut out for it. I think if she was given the chance and went to college like Mariah, that she would have changed her mind like Mariah, and not want to live that lifestyle.
* Meri admits that she never felt a close sister wife bond with either Janelle or Christine.
*When they all lived in the same home in Utah, Meri admitted that she would often just cook for her and Mariah, and the two of them would eat alone
* Meri does not appear to have a special bond with either of Janelle or Christine's children. (ie. When Maddie announced her engagement, she wanted to tell Christine cause she felt like a second mother to her)
*Meri insists in getting the same amount of money for her household. Instead of dividing money my cost of feeding, clothing, children, Meri insisted on receiving the exact same amount of money as a family with six children.
* She finally finds a close sister wife relationship with Robin, but after a year, that "bond" seems to be not as strong. Robin has to continue to beg Meri to be involved in the family, and with her children. Robin has to constantly tell Meri that she belongs in the family.
*She fully planned on leaving Kody, but then found out that relationship was a catfish.
Has she ever been happy in living polygamy? It's obvious she and Kody no longer have a healthy loving relationship.
Thanks everyone (especially CJ) for the updated snark on this trainwreck. I am way up north visiting my first grandchild (she is magnificent!)and like most kids these days my daughter and son-in-law (who happen to be happily monogamously married)don't bother with cable and I am too lazy/cheap to figure out how to watch it on line. Doesn't sound like I am missing much.
ReplyDeleteHaving just witnessed (well not literally--like normal people my son and I were down the hall in the waiting room waiting to be invited in when appropriate)the true miracle of the birth of a healthy baby to loving parents I wonder if after the 18th baby the pure joy of it all becomes diluted when it becomes a plot point.
I am starting to hate Jangle way more than Robyn (surprisingly). You can see this season that Robyn is not having Kody's foolishness. I like that. Jangle, on the other hand, is his self appointed defender. It's sickening. And when she threw Christine under the bus regarding the stone structure, I was floored! Back when that episode originally ran, Christine said all the wives agreed that he was being a jerk. Now Jangle puts her down for her feelings during her anniversary weekend??? Ugh. I wonder if Kody has asked her to take on this role? I really don't like it. Grow a spine Jangle!
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, during the older episodes of Jangle speaking up about Meri demanding the same amount for her house when their financial situation was dire, Meri answered in a strange way, "Well, I'm sorry you think I took something you thought was yours." I thought that was odd until they started explaining their backstory. And suddenly it seemed to me that she was regerencing Janelle "taking" Kody all those years ago. I think Meri was blindsided my Janelle and that's where that comment came from.
ReplyDeleteSorry if this was already discussed on this thread, but is that Mykelti Christine is talking to and about in the promo for Sunday's show---about possibly wanting to marry someone she's know for 5 months? Haven't Kody and Krew been saying for years that AUB courtships are short? So why is Christine distressed? Anyone?
ReplyDeleteI remember that too. Robyn got extra time even though she was a girlfriend and not a wife cause their engagement was way longer than others in the faith. Christine wasn't happy she got equal time cause she wasn't yet a wife and Janelle rationalized the equal time because it was extended engagement probably for the show.
DeleteAnd courtships were for marriage
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I find it very easy to agree with a lot of the points made in this cosy little living room. I really enjoy reading your insights -more so than actually sitting still and watching a full episode. I do still think some of the extreme hatred for Robyn is a bit excessive. She IS in a polygamous family and while I appreciate that you have all very eloquently educated me on a lot of deeper analysis than I gleaned from watching I still think that she has a human side.
ReplyDeleteI have no sympathy for any of them (they don't want it anyway, they just want fame and fortune).. BUT, as you have concluded many times, the sisterwives have no real relationship.. What if- Meri, Christine and Janelle all ACTUALLY (not for the phoney therapist) built a friendship.. Imagine if Meri felt fulfilled and supported because she had two neighbors she adored that she could talk to and hang out with... She and Janelle could plan these little trips and get aways that Janelle keeps teasing via social media.. Christine would have two other people that 'know' her husband (as sick as that seems to us sad monogamists) that she could get advice and support from..
Those three could build something that would leave all this Robyn bashing behind.. And that would be the best revenge, imagine the tears when Robyn's left on the couch alone feeling left out.
A clever narcissist knows exactly how to gain sympathy from empathetic people. That’s what they do. And that’s exactly what Robyn is doing. Sorry, but I don’t like the direction of ‘we shouldn’t be so hard on Robyn’. Let me ask you: Have you EVER in the course of the SW show, seen Robyn take responsibility for causing someone else emotional pain? Have you ever seen her apologize to anyone? All the other wives have, and even Kody has – but not Robyn. That is a red flag. When someone cannot ever apologize for hurting someone else, it implies a lack of empathy and a distorted sense of self (as in, far superior to others.) And all this adds up to serious personality disorder. The proof is in the pudding: Everyone’s miserable. (That’s a byproduct of even ONE person in a family having NPD. Everyone suffers.) With people like Robyn, you really have to be careful how empathetic you allow yourself to be. Her sweet expressions during labor are designed to evoke your sentiments. If your maternal/empathetic side is unguarded, watch out. You will start to love Robyn. Notice it happening. She’s a sweet girl who gave birth on television. She has pretty children. She’s just trying her best. She has her good moments. She is kindof cute and funny. She really doesn’t deserve all the mean comments… Before you know it, Robyn’s got you the way she’s got all the adults in that family.
ReplyDeleteNo. I’m unmoved. I will begin to look at Robyn differently if she begins to hold herself accountable for some of the emotional problems she has caused. I will look at her differently if she owns up to her mistakes towards the other wives, owns up to a history of selfishness from the moment she entered that family, and makes a few well-needed apologies to Christine, Meri, and Janelle. Until then, she’s still the scorpion in the nest.
I agree that Robyn is a textbook narcissist but I also agree that the O-3 could best serve revenge by banding together and freezing her out of their bond.
DeleteThe show is getting a lot of mileage out of relationship problems between the wives....not only as plot points, but as fodder for the chats, and yes, the snark.
ReplyDeleteWhat sticks out about all this is that the original three have been together for over *twenty* years!!!
Twenty years of interacting or not interacting. A dynamic that was their "norm" for over two decades.
Yet now, now that they have had a show providing income, a show that needs storylines and scripts, their communication style and possible problems are priorities? Also, from occasional vague comments made by them through the years of the show, it seems apparent that using a therapist is not new to them.
Sobbin-Robyn has been onsite for almost 8 years, counting the year of courting. And of course, the show only presents those snatches of footage the producers have chosen to air. Who really knows what has gone on in Kodyworld where she is concerned. One epp will show Sobbin's overt manipulation, the next one shows all the wives laughing and supporting her.
Or are they laughing at the viewers getting all riled up at created dramas??
Is this the game plan, to keep the chatter and the snarkers vocal and ongoing?
I'm not a Robyn fan, but I disagree that she has NPD. Kody, on the other hand! I would not at all be surprised if he truly did.
