Okay, so maybe we still aren't seeing the real family. But I'll tell ya one thing, that façade they hide behind is beginning to crack - a whole lot!!
We already know what a vindictive wretch Robyn can be, but isn't it rich when she tries to give out a passive-aggressive slap to the face to the Mistress of Passive Aggressive digs, Meri Brown!

So cute, indeed!And of course, since Robyn was "married" to Kody when they filmed that episode in Wyoming with old friend Ken, she apparently feels she is qualified to let the audience know that Christine's feelings are certainly not shared by Robyn - firmly standing by her man Kody and his rather insensitive LDS friend.
Although Ken's comment was off he has always been kind and accepting to us. I have had several positive experiences with him & his family.

Yes! And, not only was it last minute, it didn't take very long, or it started very early. They were on the road at 10:30 a.m., which was 90 minutes later than planned. Janelle was the one who explained that in the episode, and she never mentioned that closing. At most, she could have been delivering keys to a tenant after a lease-signing.
DeleteAlso, this episode was within weeks of Maddie's graduation and move to college, all their celebrations, Dayton's surgery,and the TLC filming schedule. Although fitting a closing in that schedule would be very do-able, I don't believe that Janelle or any Brown could manage.
I wonder if Janelle isn't working in the realty office, just not as a realtor? Could she possibly be a broker or paper pusher in the office? I don't know what that would require. I'd like to believe Janelle is still working and hasn't turned into a bum like the rest of her family.

DeleteKody has gone overboard on being a 'star'. He has gotten so excited about having a TV show, than he has forgotten that his 'co-stars' are his family and should not be negatively discussed by him on tweets, message boards, and so forth. Plus, he doesn't care about Christine... she's supposed to be 'the fun one', and her feelings are impacting him seeing her in this manner. Therefore, she holds no interest for him. As for the children's feelings, he only considers that if it gives him a role on his show (such as attempting to connect with Maddie, or sobbing about her going away to school. She's not even the first girl to do that, Mariah is).

ReplyDeleteOn a serious note, whether or not Kody and Christine's fight was real, his tweets about it were very insensitive to the mother of 6 of his kids. CJ, I do know what you mean about Kody gaslighting Christine. It was like her feelings that she shouldn't be married to Kody pushed her to lash out about Ken when she was really mad about Kody's refusal to ever take her feelings into consideration. She also has a lot of un-resolved feelings about leaving their home in Utah. It should be very interesting to see what happens once her mom moves in with her, seeing as her mom obviously cannot stand Kody. My money has always been on Meri or Robyn eventually leaving after the show, but it just might be Christine.
As for Meri, her body language during the couch interviews has been very telling this season. Her entire body is shifted away from the group. Even her hands are folded facing away from the rest of them. She no longer talks much in the interviews. She is so over it all. I hope one day she meets a nice, middle aged guy who has a decent haircut when she's hanging out on the strip and moves him into her house. Hey, it could happen.
I am glad that Maddie has gotten far enough away that Kody cannot chase her out onto roofs anymore in his quest to get her to spill her guts. She has shown that she is so over that bunch. She stated years ago that she would be going back to Utah as soon as she can. She did just that.
ReplyDeleteI have to take Christine's side on the Ken thing. She may have been tedious in her demands for an apology, but she does have a point. If Ken did tell Kody to dump three of his wives and come back to the church, Kody should have cut off his friendship with him. It's one thing to express disapproval of the polygamist lifestyle, but another to tell a guy to get rid of three of the wives. It is disrespectful to Kody's children. He's kind of saying they don't count either. What kind of "friend" is that? And for Robyn to say he's a good guy -she's always enjoyed being around him - something like that...Really? She would be one of the dumped wives. He was talking about you, Robyn, and you stick up for him on twitter. Ugh, these people have no self respect!
ReplyDeleteKen was asked to be in the reunion episode, and, I expect, was asked to not hold back on his feelings about polygamy. I think he and Kody have reconnected as 'friends', and he did what all religious people do... encouraged a strayed lamb to come back to the fold. It is true that for Kody to come back to the fold, he has to leave his extra wives. Ken was only stating a fact. Kody was free to say 'not interested in coming back'. End of story. It's Christine that made it personal against HER.
DeleteIt's also plausible that Ken was 'joking' People make flip comments about running off on vacation or to live in some exotic location that would be totally unsuitable for their spouse, children, etc. That does not usually mean they want to leave their children, nor are they actually encouraging the other person in the conversation to do so. I can mention wanting a date with George Clooney, without actually meaning either one of us should cheat on our spouses. Should my husband be offended by a comment like this?
Kody live Tweeting and gaslighting Christine was despicable. In my opinion he is a text book sociopath.
DeleteAt this point Ken doesn't even matter. Christine is an emotionally abused wife who is also a religious zealot brainwashed from birth. Why would Kody ever show her that text to begin with? He probably enjoyed her reaction. For all we know Kody sent some kind of baiting text that precipitated Ken's "joking" response.
I hope one day Christine gets deprogrammed and leaves this cult. (The AUB cult and the Kody cult.)
Kody's tweet throwing Christine under the bus shows just how low this family, particularly Kody, will go to create an interest in their show. Calling Christine petty was unfair, especially when you factor in the pettiness of Meri's tears of just because I only have one child, some think I am taking from them as she looks at Janelle and then there's Robyn's, well, if my children are not treated better they might chose to go live with their father. Meri and Robyn own petty and like CJ said, he only throws Christine under the bus. I don't know if it is because he really dislikes her or if it's that she doesn't care that when he and the other wives pick on her or are angry at her, her children feel an alienation of affection from not only the sperm donor and spare moms but the other children. Truly sees her mother and Kody fighting and Sol sees it, do you think Sol can separate Truely's mother's relationship with Kody from Truely's relationship with Kody? Additionally, the three women who are not in the fight have the privilege of doing Kody's bidding by trying to smooth things over. Robyn particularly likes that job: remember when Meri had the meltdown at Meriah's graduation and Robyn had to help Kody understand? Well, that power to be the link that connects one wife to Kody adds status to that wife in a way that having Kody pissed off at Christine takes away her value. I don't put it passed the idiot Browns to have staged the entire thing but it is sad that the children must witness this and face the consequences of being the child of the unfavored mother.

First things first, if TLC/Sister Wives and Puddle of Monkeys, if you think I believe that this group of yahoos walked into a Pawn Shop and asked for that kind of money and it was just handed over to them with the only collateral being some junk jewelry and $50 t-shirts well let's just say I got some ocean front property in a Las Vegas Cul-de-sac I'd like to sell ya! I also don't believe that Kodi and Meri didn't realize that was the motel they stayed in on their "honeymoon".

Since Robyn's friend blew them off and Ken also blew them off, what did they do with their free time that day? BTW, I think it's hilarious that even their "friends" don't want to hang out with them. Of course, it could be because those people have jobs or something.
Now, here's my take on the argument. I see Christine's side of feeling hurt. I see Ken's side even though if he was actually trying to save Kody's soul he probably should have made the effort in person instead of by text. I do not and cannot see Kody's side. He was a complete jerk on the show and even a jerkier jerk on Twitterland. All for a buck!!

He also said women should not have money or else they can escape -no I made up the second half of that sentence.I can read between the lines. Anyhow her AUB polyg crown is tarnished. I am sure the kids already know not to mess with the head of the house and we know they have seen the favorite wife thing polyg kids say makes childhood scary. I think they are trying to sell this as the worst case scenario when weknow some polyg women are beaten badly and in the case of Rebecca Kimbel had their kids taken away. Except for the part where he brought his testicles into the conversation you would have thought he was talking to his daughter . DeleteWhat is fascinating, well, more like frustrating, is that these plyg women who appear on the shows have chosen for their lifestyle to be up for scrutiny, And in the Browns case, they chose to live in Sin City where their MO is definitely an oddity. We have even seen the Brownies evolve in their fashion. Gone are the ridiculous long-sleeved T-shirts covered with too small, bulge-enhancing tank tops or pre-school baby doll ruffled numbers. Maybe they abandoned that look out of common sense since they are living in the high temp desert now, but at least they dress less cult-ish now.

DeleteWhere do I start in my criticism of Christine's behavior? I agree with many of the statements here that Christine and the rest of the Brown wives have been, and continue to be, victims of abuse--both from their shared spouse and the institutional abuse perpetrated by a faith system that sees women as second-class citizens. That said, though, Christine's diva-like behavior regarding Ken's statement and Kody's continuing view of Ken as a friend is way out of proportion. There's nothing Ken can do to harm Christine or any of the Brown family. Ken can't "rat them out" because they've done that to themselves. The Waddoups decision decriminalized their family structure, so as long as they're not defrauding the government by "bleeding the beast", the Browns are safe from legal persecution. The Brown family has chosen to use the First Amendment rights to get the judicial system off their backs, and it is that same First Amendment that affords Ken the right to criticize the Browns' lifestyle, based on theology, religious dogma, or any other criterion. When it comes to the Constitution and the rights it affords any individual or family, what's good for one should be good for all. If Christine wants to live her faith openly under the First Amendment, she's got to expect criticism from mainline LDS followers and anyone else who wants to spend time and breath disagreeing with her. The same right of free association that the Waddoups decision upholds for Christine, her husband, and her sister wives, gives Kody the right to choose his friends freely and without Christine's approval. Her diva behavior is unattractive, immature, and does nothing to strengthen her position on Kody's choice of friends.

If Christine wanted an empathetic, compassionate, or understanding spouse, she should have married someone else. As plyg "royalty", I'm fairly certain she had her pick of men with two wives.
