    1. She also says she wants integrity in her products. Meri said its not 'fun' anymore...
When was their business fun or full of integrity?
Robyn using the term integrity in regard to herself or her work is like Mama June discussing maternal instincts and low fat diet.

  4. Sobbin says she is working "insane" hours for MSWC......Sobbin, you are too, too funny !!

And where oh where are those "lost" piunds, Janelle? Me thinks Janelle has exaggerated quite a few pounds!! She looks no different.
Meri, you should NEVER have okayed that clip being replayed of you in that puke green "Committment" gown. OMG !! To see it again is painful. You looked like you are about to bust the seams. Yikes !!! Sooooooo unflattering.
Christine..just stop. You sound so much smarter when you are silent.

  5. It really looks like Janelle has gained her 25 pounds back. Holy Cow. That might explain her self consciousness about the dance thing.

  6. Yo! Janelle! You were married to Meri's brother, now thanks to you and Cody, Meri has shared hormones with her brother!

  7. That's what I said about her 25 pounds...she is really gaining the weight back plus some.

  8. TLC, listen up.......
Janelle and Meri need to go to lunch with Paulie and Rosemary........and trade sisterwives !!
Geez.,is every plot just a redo of some other show???

  9. I wish Janelle would just say "I knew Meri before Kody because I was married to her brother." We all know it. Just spit it out.

  20. They are just thinking up something, anything, to film. Apparently, real life--feeding, parenting, where Kody goes all day, what the wives really do all day--is too boring or somehow off limits for filming. My guess is the wives function like single Moms with little help or involvement from Kody.

    ReplyDelete
  21. All Robyn's whining about having to work "crazy" hours just show us that she has never had a real, full time job before.

    7. I was told that Dayton's father was OK, and that everyone in MT knew his wife (and Dayton's mother) was cray cray. And "she" essentially confirmed this when in one of the early Vegas season, she said if the other Brown kids didn't start accepting Dayton and his sisters they could choose to live with their father fulltime. I don't think a "way worse" father would be allowed such custody arrangements. Not to mention they have spent Christmas and summers with him.

You might be wondering why I'm not mentioning a certain name. Perhaps tomorrow I'll explain why!

  40. Why was Dayton on an ATV...apparently with no helmet on?

Why did King Kody and Christine go with Mykelti on that internship interview? She was perfectly capable of going in alone.

    ReplyDelete

    1. A helmet doesn't mean no injury. The fact there was only a face injury suggests awesome luck or a helmet was worn.

  41. After looking at some of the designs in Mykelti's portfolio, I wonder if the designer is saying you need to design something that will sell about her portfolio or about her future designs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Myketi's designs are not indicative of someone who has studied fashion or fashion construction.
In fact I am pretty sure I have notebooks full of similar designs from grade school (I do not write this in a critical way, it really was a shock how basic her portfolio looked).
I don't like bashing the kids because they have it hard enough, but instead of supervising her interviews and 'managing' her exposure to the 'crude' world of fashion, Kody and Christine should have forked out some money for art and design classes.
You have to have basic art (drawing) skills to design and draw a professional portfolio. Don't get me wrong, I think the kids have done very well considering what they have had to deal with at home, usually I am impressed with how much more logical and rational the kids seem in comparison to the adults.
Sadly Mykelti may have inherited some of Kody's baffling over confidence. She has had some fantastic opportunities to meet with people in the local industry and see what is expected/required but doesn't appear to have taken to heart the preparation, additional trainings, and practice needed to match the skill level of other prospective designers.
Self confidence is great but it shouldn't overshadow reality.

    2. Oh, LaPetite, I am so enjoying reading your post-live tweet party comments. Kudos to you.

      Delete
    3. Yes. Great Comments!
Kody thinks Mykelti just needs to meet the right person and everything will happen magically. She seemed disconnected when the designer was making comments about the costume type dresses in the portfolio. She is majoring in business right now so she has a long way to go before she gets into the fashion industry. She'd have to get a job at the bottom right now and work her way up until she goes to fashion school. (I think.) Was that "internship" the designer offering to teach her or was that just a plot line for the show?

      Delete
  42. Why are her parents at the interview for an internship? Are interviews for jobs completely unknown to them?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's what I said earlier....why on Earth would her parents go with her. This is a business...not a babysiting job. I hope she was able to win him over even though her parents were treating her like a child.

      Delete
    2. Because it was "for the show' !!!
Every scene, every everything...is for the show !!

      Delete
    3. If I were the designer, having Mykelti's (or any other prospective intern's parents) come along on the interview would immediately disqualify that candidate from consideration. Potential employers need to see that potential employees or interns are mature enough to get themselves to work on time without parental guidance or help. All the Browns did was show that they don't trust Mykelti to behave herself in a professional situation. Also,if the parents' presence was necessary (because the child is underage), they, too, should be dressed professionally. Jeans just don't cut it. Epic. fail. Sorry, Mykelti.

      Delete
    4. Agree. Epic Fail. Kody has to go to the interviews just in case there is someone famous or some connection to be made for his favorite "wanna be designer" wife. Christine just goes for fun.

If Mykelti ever breaks into the fashion industry Robyn will become her new best friend.

  51. Pullleze...!!! I would love to do a poll here in how many of us have had kids go college.
How many of us have packed a car with baskets of clothes, dvds, toiletries, bedding and driven our kids off to college ?? Nothing against Maddie...but really Janelle and Kody, didn't this already happen with Logan??

Must you all and TLC force feed a predictable scenario to your viewers as if it is a "happening" worthy of 30 minutes of airtime!!
What the hell will the rest of the season be about.......!!??
The hell of grocery shopping ??

    1. this show was boring as usual, and I admit i wasn't paying much attention, but did anyone besides Maddy handle any of the packing of her things from her room to the car ? Looks like the rest of the one big happy family would have pitched in to help just a little.

      Delete
    2. I noticed she wasn't given a car and went to school in utah. Unlike her sister. Why not have another car go down there to help her if there is too much stuff? Kody was doing business stuff and they couldn't start out when janelle wanted? Right. Didn't notice Mariah at all. I'm still unclear which mom moved in? Didn't Christine's mom leave?

      Delete
    3. Kody doesn't have all those memories of his children growing up because even when the rotation puts him at a certain house, his reason for being there is probably way more focused on his bed mate for the night.....Well that, and laying around on the couch eating nachos and playing video games.

      Delete
    4. I'm still unclear which mom moved in? Didn't Christine's mom leave?
I've heard Christine's mother moved in. Yes, she left Christine's father when Christine was 16(?) and I think she's a LeBaron (not the car).

      Delete
    5. That clip really surprised me. She would have been the Last Mom I expected to move in... based upon Christine's fear of spending time with her, her aunt, and so forth. Also based on the fact that she left polygamy, and Christine was really upset with her for that.

    6. Could it have been her bonus mom?

    7. the clip showed her bio mom

    8. I'm glad Madison is showing some independence--the Brown teens, with the exception of Mariah, seem far more mature then any of their myriad parents. Apart from that, is it my imagination, or does the Millennial generation seem to need more help leaving the nest than Generation X did? When I left for my college, I put all my worldly goods into one suitcase (all by myself), and my parents drove me to the airport. My father handed me an envelope with $200 cash in it and said, "make it last, there won't be any more", and they said good-bye. Eighteen hours later, I had to figure out how to get myself from the airport at my final destination to my college campus all by myself, and then had to buy the personal items I'd need (linens, a lamp, stuff like that). I had hand carried my portable Olivetti 50 typewriter and my backpack with 12 of my favorite cassette tapes and my Sony Walkman (o.k.--I admit being OLD!). Then I had to figure out how to register for classes, collect my financial aid and scholarships, and secure student employment. These kids seem to need far more parental assistance than I did, or that my parents thought of providing (I was the first in my family to attend university). It's good to see that the parents are able to help, but is this a common occurrence? Parents of college fledglings, was my experience out of the ordinary, or do the Browns represent the way this this life event usually unfolds?

  52. And what did Robyn say about being worried about money verses integrity...say what? Where was integrity when they all wracked up credit card debt and defaulted on payments? Integrity really? Double talk, all double talk I say!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Robyn...Integrity?? Oh that is hilarious. Didn't they steal the "Be Values" idea (design) from someone else? She tried to profit from Autism? She doesn't pay her bills? She bashes her kid's father on TV? She pretends someone took her purity instead of admitting fornication? She came in as a home wrecker to get on the show? They need to put duct tape over her mouth.

      Delete
    2. I don't want to hear about integrity from a lady who was kissing another man's wife when the wife was in labor. Not to mention all her unpaid debts and public bashing of her children's father.

  55. Robyn tweeting about Dayton's name being a combo of his first and middle name is a complete lie. In season two when her children were introduced she and Kody allowed the producers to say with a banner across the screen that Dayton was Kody and Robyn;s son and he was named after Dayton Ohio like the other kids were named after cities. They participated in that story line and now its out that that was a lie.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, they made a comment that many of their kids have names that are also the names of cities, they did not say he was "named after" Dayton Ohio. His father is David Preston and he is also named David Preston. "Dayton" is a combination of the two. It makes complete sense.

      Delete
    2. They didn't say he was named after Dayton Ohio, that segment was just pointing out all the kids with city names. Dayton could easily be an amalgamation of David Preston

      Delete
    3. re watch the episode..there is a banner running across the lower screne saying he was named after dayton ohio

      Delete
    4. His name is/was David. It's not uncommon for a junior to be casually called something else so as to not confuse things.

      Delete
    5. There was not a banner saying he was "named after" Dayton Ohio. There was not a banner saying any of the kids were "named after" any cities. There was a banner pointing out cities that have the same names as the kids, but that is not saying any of the kids were specifically "named after" any of those cities.

  59. No offense to Dayton, but who out there in the world of autism is "diagnosing" people such as Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson with Asperger's? That kind of historical speculation is utterly ridiculous and is clearly being done by some people in the autism world today as some kind of "feel good" mechanism so they can tell children "oh, look, you are just like Benjamin Franklin!"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Speculating that people such as Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson did NOT have Asperger's is utterly ridiculous and clearly serves no purpose but remove optimism among people who relate to them through their own experience's with Asperger's

      Delete
    2. Do you have some historical medical evidence on Franklin and Jefferson to support a diagnosis of Asperger's for either person? Facts? Medical records?

      Delete
    3. Hate to tell you the autism world and everyone remotely related to it is labeling people with spectrum like qualities who lived before the term was formed middle of the last century. It's not the boy. It's really not a feel good mechanism. It's really meant for the people who aren't austistic to try and understand those on the spectrum by bringing up familiar people who also happen to have quirks. 1 in 88 or less. I hope you don't find yourself so connected with autsim. I really don't want to be ben franklins mom. He already has a mom and he is dead. I also don't need my kid to be Ben.

      Delete
    4. MrSpock is not connected with autism, but does have someone with more severe autism in the family. MrSpock just objects to labelling historic figures with conditions/diseases i.d.'d in recent times when there is really no evidence one way or the other for such labels to be assigned to people long-dead. MrSpock thinks that gives false impressions to people such as Dayton---i.e., that he and B. Franklin or T. Jefferson are somehow alike based on Asperger's---not to say that he may be like them in other ways. Maybe Ben's and Thomas' family descendants would object to such labels---and Ben & Tom aren't here to confirm or deny what they think on the subject. As for "quirks" or the like---don't we all have some? MrSpock certainly does! But we don't need labels for everything.

      Delete
    5. I think it's just rude and disrespectful to the dead to be trying to diagnose and label them with things after they are long gone and when they can't speak for themselves. It's right up there with how rude and disrespectful it is to baptize the dead into religions they didn't believe in.

      Delete
    6. For the love of Christ, the ridiculousness never ends. Anonymous 9:16 pm, your bizarre type of 'inductive' reasoning is ludicrous. Lord, I wish we knew which Brown you were so we could peg the low IQ branch of the family tree. Tears to my eyes, seriously.
Go ahead and compare yourself to whoever you like, if the need for that type of 'one-upmanship' is so great. We can all speculate until the cows come home. I get it. My friend's kid has Marfan's syndrome, and it feels hopeful and inspiring to think that maybe, according to written notes, that Abe Lincoln had the syndrome and well. But puhleeze, to assert that denying Lincoln's (asserted) Marfans takes away hope...your singing the song of the Scarecrow.

    7. Recently, skeletal remains of at least 15 people were found buried in the basement of a house in which Benjamin Franklin lived in London. Apparently, forensic evidence revealed that these people died around the time that Franklin was in residence in the house. Using this as evidence that Franklin was a murderer is the far more plausible than using his eccentric behaviors to diagnose him as a person with Asperger's. If we are going to use circumstantial evidence to draw one conclusion, it's fair game to use that same reasoning to reach other conclusions. Thus, I humbly submit that if it is reasonable to assume, based on Franklin's documented behavior but no substantive, first-person, medical or mental health examination, that Benjamin Franklin lived with Asperger's Syndrome, we can also reasonably assume that he killed at least 15 people, dismembered them, and buried them in the basement of his London home.

      Here's the link: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/why-was-benjamin-franklins-basement-filled-with-skeletons-524521/?no-ist

If parents, teachers, or other adult figures want to use leaders such as Franklin or T. Jefferson as examples that different isn't necessarily bad, and encourage kids (with Asperger's or without) to embrace their individuality, good for them. If kids want to use Franklin or Jefferson as role models for what one can achieve with hard work and dedication, that's great, too. Diagnosing without examination--no bueno.

  64. Got my laugh of the week the week from watching Kody and the clown crew do their little dance for Mykelti. Did you see how happy Kody looked with himself, showing off for his daughter's young friends, probably thinking he is hot stuff and hoping for young wife number 5? I actually re-wound it to laugh some more. Mykelti looked mortified. Can't understand what the song had to do with graduating or why her parents were doing the dance at all when everything should be about Mykelti at her own graduation party?

I just can't with the My Sister Wife's Closet anymore. Same old Sobbyn crying that it isn't any fun blah blah blah, Meri not wanting to be there, Kody being a total idiot, and Christine and Janelle's (slightly) more intelligent comments on getting new/better products being ignored.

How exactly is a "hobby" business stopping a lady with a nanny from having anymore kids? I wondered why Kody's attitude cooled down so much towards Sobbyn last season, now we know why. She isn't willing to have more of his babies which was the whole reason he married her besides her being a "trophy wife" for him. Guess she isn't living up to either reason these days.

Meri was so quiet and appeared very detached. Still have my money on her leaving once the paychecks stop rolling in.

Maddie's attitude was so humble and grateful. Love how she thanked the ladies for helping put her party together. Could you imagine another Brown child who shall not be named thanking people? I thought her speech was well done, it isn't easy giving a speech in front of that many people and cameras. I wish nothing but the best for her and Mykelti. Wonder if they were both given cars? We know Mariah and Logan were given sweet cars.

Bless Dayton, I hope his surgeries help him. He's had to deal with a lot in his few short years.

    2. I cannot understand how a business that hardly sells anything takes up so much of Robyn's time. How is it that she thinks a huge uptick in sales would help her have a baby?. She doesn't want more sales, she wants an assistant to be provided for her with the investor's money. Given that she wants to do her own designing, wouldn't she be far busier if there were more sales?

  65. Last night's show was like their jewelry website. All over the place with a little of this and that, nothing tying anything together just a bunch of stuff thrown together to give the impression that there's substance. Robyn's pathetic explanation of the no announcement show made it even more awkward and unbelievable.

    1. Last night's show seemed to be put together from a bunch of B-roll film. I think that they even had flashbacks to the episode on air within it, or from the 1st hour in the 2nd hour. TLC must be salvaging the footage it already has, because the timeframes and storylines were around the same time as last season's ending and didn't really move forward.

Kody was more strident about their "culture" in several of the talking heads. I think that it was to keep connection to the AUB. Also, they referred to their "wealth" in the graduation video preparation. Most appalling were his interactions with his daughters: he said that he was happy that the one broke up with the boyfriend; and the talk when they moved Maddie (?) into her apartment was just ridiculous. His lying down on her couch during the move and his lament that he can't protect her were just his trying to mark his territory.

The MSWC segments were incoherent. First, they wait for investor money. Then, Robyn has a crisis, because the business is about her art, not selling items they buy. And, Kody didn't really want investor money, if he had to give up control. And, they go to a "trendy" boutique (with Hipster in its name, so there's no mistake) and agonize further - but their business is not brick & mortar. Then, Robyn and Kody take their iconic joolry to a 2nd-hand store as the perfect place for it to sell.

It was really a long two hours.

    4. Freya, you're right on target about the Kodester.
I actually watched Downton Abbey at 9 rather than SW. I tuned in to the second showing of SW at 11, and turned it off in embarrassment about 15 minutes into it when Cindy Loo Hoo (my 12 yo daughter) (not her real name, of course) popped out into the living room because she couldn't get to sleep and was looking for a back rub. Ironic enjoyment as opposed to earnest, etc.
Last season, Comcast did not offer previously aired episodes "on Demand", which is my limiting feature--gives me a private forum from the kids.
Also, love Janelle. Becoming too hard to watch the Kodester.
However, I am sooo enjoying reflecting on this live tweet party. Cynical, you do it right.

  66. Why did Christine leave the set?

Robyn is having trouble getting pregnant. This is an excuse. Heck parenting four kids is enough to be too tired to add another one. Stop pretending it's business related. She should be a little scared with one child already on the spectrum. Two aren't on the spectrum. And for Sol it's too early to tell for certain. It's possible to have more than one child on the spectrum and at various severities.

Brady could learn from Kody. Practically speaking with that many people there are going to be medical situations happen from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Just think of the carefully calculated *and crafted* suspense of last season's cliffhanger...
Sobbin is asked if she is pregnant.....drun roll....And then the phone rings.....!!!
TLC says....Too Bad.....you all will have to wait till next season to find out......but meanwhile knock yourselves out speculating in cyberspace and keep it up till we return.
That is what is called a desperation move to create something out of NOTHING to keep the show going and justify renewing for another season.

Just like resurrecting the worn out Janelle and Meri Mean girls saga....Again !!
20 plus years later because her weight precludes her from dancing (and she didn't dance last year either, so why the fake drama about it this year)...anyway because of that stirring up the Meri mess, she is finally going to therapy. But *of course* there is a camera crew right there as this very private and alleged smoldering issue is explored. (obviously that therapist must need clients badly)
1-They needed a plot and Janelle was willing. Because if she really was such a private person, a person uncomfortable with attention, she wouldn't want to emotionally undress for the viewing public. She would just go in therapy quietly and *effectively.*
2-Unless.....our gal Janelle is as passive/aggressive as the rest of them. Ya think !!??
And intending to do whatever it takes to keep those TLC checks coming
TLC says jump, they say "how high...or... how low"
Either way, this bit is like everything else.....for the show.

Couldn't have been more wrong about the new female in town. Yep, they got me on that one !! Not a dog or cat but Christine's mother...make that Christine's Ex-Plygwife mother.
And apparently her desertion of the Principle doesn't matter if Christine was adrift and sorely in need of a replacement nanny, housekeeper and home manger now that Aspyn and Mykelti are gone. Makes perfect sense.

Lastly, it was said often back when the McMansions were being built, that much sooner than later there would be empty rooms once the upper tier of kids graduated and left home.
So hearing Janelle lament Maddie's empty room or Meri rambling around in her five bedrooms.....Really ?/!!!
And Kody.......just how long and how often are you going to slip in the untrue "we were forced out of Utah" BS...??

    ReplyDelete
  68. Of course Janelle will do almost anything for the cameras. She will soon have three children in college. It must kill her to do that though--I don't think she is comfortable with it at all.

I am totally over mean Meri. Whatever, Janelle!

    1. Maybe Janelle is comfortable with being uncomfortable.
As long as it pays off somehow.

As she herself said, Meri was born to the plyglife, Janelle wasn't. And yeah, she sure did "know" Meri before Meri met Kody. They were sister-in-laws. (loved how she skirted the edges of real facts on that one in the episode)
So at what point did poor, shy, quiet Janelle look at *her friend* Meri's husband and decide to offer her herself as wife #2. Kind of ballsy and disloyal for such a shy flower.
And was it *before or after* divorcing Meri's brother (where she was a non-plyg wife) did Janelle get the stirrings that Kodyboy was the prize and going Plyg was for her?
      We will never know.

And whatever happened to the real estate job?

    2. I noticed in one of the picks of Kody and meri, Janelle was there and not so cleverly edited out is a mans arm around her (Janelle). Must be meri's brother since they were married then. What's the big deal? I mean they admitted she was married to meri's brother previously. Is this a case of believing their made up lies?

      Delete
  69. I guess someone besides me thought Meri was being a bit snarky with Janelle last night on Twitter....

"Oops! My comment last night abt some of us crying when kids leave was a bash on me! I mean, did you see me when Mariah left last year? Ugh!"

  70. So, I'm rewatching because someone said their houses were dumps already. Christine's house seems to have the typical problems--piles of stuff on the floor and what looks to be a damaged windowsill.
Robyn seems to like a lot of knick knacks on surfaces. She has some strange looking thing by the front doors on the inside. Could it be a vacuum cleaner?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Just watching Janelle's discomfort with the lip synching. Janelle definitely has a "me vs. them" attitude. I think this is a personality thing, where they are extroverts and she is an introvert. But Janelle feels outside the family.

Meri also has a "me vs. them" problem. Her sense of isolation comes from her empty nest. She had very little involvement in this show tonight. She's probably thinking about her rock stars (VLL) and wondering what they are up to.

And I guess Robyn is developing a similar "me vs. them" problem, since she is all about "art" and "integrity" while the rest of them just want the money.

  72. Dancing is not a weight thing. Some people just have an opposition to dancing and it doesn't have anything to do with body type. I don't mean opposition as it needs to be made illegal, just they don't understand how and don't want to try in front of people. Slow dancing as a pair is fine but fast dancing or a dance routine in front of people is just too much.

The only person Kody seems married to with a true marriage relationship seems to be Christine. Robyn doesn't seem to have an authentic relationship with him. He doesn't appear close to Meri or janelle. Even with Christine and Kody are at odds they have a give and take with each other. Like the gym mats in the garage interaction. Meri and Robyn seem to control everything. More like Jon and Kate and how they were married. Do this and that and do it my way. Janelle is just independent with low expectations of him.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Could be weight had nothing to do with Janelle not wanting to dance. But it is an easy assumption in her case. She mentioned "my body doesn't move or work that way"..something to that effect.
The whole thing was blown up for the cameras anyway. That much is clear.
She chose not to dance the stupid thing last year too and no mention was made...or at least was aired.

  74. These people are some of the strangest I've seen on TV, like ever. I thought the Duggars or Honey boo boo's clan were strange, but I just can't figure these people out. That dancing, just wow. I can understand enjoying dancing, but there's a time and place for that. Not a family spectacle at a graduation party. I don't blame janelle for wanting nothing to do with them. I've never seen a 40 something year old man dance like such a lunatic. Who acts like that? I suppose man child Kody Brown.

    ReplyDelete
  75. SMH at Kody's comments about Mykelti dating that boy. Something like: in "our culture" "Dating is only when you are preparing to marry". While this may be true, it was disturbing because the truth of the matter is, it is likely"in their culture" that a girl would be chosen by some skeevy perv with multiple wives while the boy was cast out so as not to be competition. I'm not saying the Brown family would follow this practice with any of their kids, but to put it out there was disturbing. If they are not going to delve into the harsh realities of "their culture",especially on this topic, it's probably best not to mention it at all. The implication that their stance on dating makes them morally superior is nauseating. They know the truth about "their culture"..stop pretending.

    1. Kimba girl, I totally agree. If Browns are not willing to be upfront with the "harsh realities" of their culture, then it is indeed best not to call attention to it. The custom of dating as a commitment to marry may seem quirky, but other customs within that particular culture are downright scary. The Browns should not want people to go there.

  77. It's narcissistic. No parent should spend that much time and energy devising ways to humiliate their child or make their kid's special events about themselves.
Each time the Browns do this and their children are forced to play along you see their eyes becoming more and more blank.
Kody's selfishness has cost these kids anonymity, friends, future and past experiences, and now their self respect (and special moments). Not everything has to be about their dad or his wives, regardless of how much he pouts or how little he values his kids.

    ReplyDelete
  78. This show has annoyed me. It has irritated me. Parts have even angered me (like the way Kody demeans his children and their feelings about additional children and mothers).
This episode infuriated me. The dismissive way Kody treated Mykelti and the fashion industry was tasteless. It was rude and embarrassing.
BUT the sex (rape basically) and self defense 'scared straight seminar' they have to Maddie AFTER criticizing her apartment for not being the 'college experience' disgusted me.
1.) I don't understand where Kody gets off criticizing anything having to do with Maddie's choices of home, college, or future relationships. Kody did not attend college and has no clue what the typical experience should be, watching Animal House does not make him an expert.
She got a significant scholarship, he should be thanking God that's one less tuition expense to worry about.
2.) Maddie has not made a secret of wanting a different and better life than her parents, nor has she been secretive about desperately wanting to return to Utah.
3.) Maddie was very open about wanting distance from their lifestyle and be her own person. She counted the days until she could leave and thrive despite any parenting or protection Kody feels he provided every 5-6 nights (if even that often).
4.) Kody and janelle fretting that Maddie would destroy her life over some guy...like her mom did? Like she might find a skeezy 'dude' like Kody perhaps?
5.) How about you spend the 18 years before college teaching your daughter that her value is more than her virginity and that her body is not inherently sinful...instead 18 minutes of lectures assuming she will fall victim to sleazy men and sexual assault?
6.) you hope the distance will make her want a relationship with her father? The same man who cannot remember her childhood because of his neglect? The same man who marginalized his children and WIVES as property? The same man who outright ignored his daughter's request that he leave so that she can get settled in peace instead of teased about being and getting raped?
7.) Your distance will only make her realize even more so how what a disease you are to the health and happiness of your family.
You are a disease. A plague on your loved ones...
I'm sorry to rant. I've made fun of Kody. I've called him a POS and a terrible father before, and I've even gotten mad at him and had to change the channel.
Tonight I became furious. He is a bad person who does, says, and thinks bad things. I really do believe that this is a much darker situation than I ever really understood. I believe that allowing this man to have *raised* children verges on abuse.
Again, I'm sorry. That conversation and this episode really made my skin crawl. I can no longer laugh at his ignorance and buffoonery, I have become disturbed by it. I find him disturbing.

  79. Holy Moses, LaPetite, that was a very interesting psychological essay. Great dissection of Kody's behavior. I must say that I agree with you. I think that Kody may have some attachments (check out John Livingston's book "Adversaries Walk Among Us").
Maddie, if you read this, know that you are smart and strong and amazing, and can accomplish everything you put your mind to. We are all rooting for you!

  80. Thanks Bemused...I didn't realize I went on for quite so long.
I think that's why I have to DVR this show. I miss too much 'plot line' from blacking out in rage or embarrassment to follow along live.
I'm not exaggerating when I say each season of this show makes me more and more uncomfortable with the way this family is run, and the deeply flawed system it was based on. I've never been pro-Brown or supportive of polygamy, but the differences between the family dynamics first season and this season are astounding.
I feel like this family has gone from doofy plygs in an undesirable and questionable situation to terrible people actively harming their children.
(I work with child protective services and that is not at all hyperbole.)
These kids will have some emotional scars to work through. Luckily it will be easier (and cheaper) if they can just show their therapists clips and countdown episodes.

And this theme seems to be continuing in their relationship today. If I know I can bully you with just my words, then im going to continue to bully u, just because I know I can.
