SISTER WIVES: Live TWEET PARTY for May 29th, 2016

But first...

Let's chat for a while.

I'm not really sure if there will be a new Sister Wive's episode tonight, and to tell you the truth, the last two episodes have been soooo boring, I have yet to make it through one sitting without falling asleep. So I would welcome the vacation, if you know what I mean.

And let me warn you. This season of Sister Wives is not something you want to have playing while you're in REM sleep, I tell you! If you've watched Rosemary's Baby, when Mia Farrow suddenly says "This is no dream,  this is really happening!" well...let me just say it was a monogamist woman's nightmare (refer to the picture of Kody below, lasciviously licking his chops while looking at Robyn's naked belly) to see Kody's visage instead of the Devil, coming towards me with horns sticking out of his head. And the warts! Then I realized those weren't warts, they were  COLD SORES!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

And on the subject of naked bellies, what's the deal with MSWC website? I'd put a link here, but Google is warning users to think twice before venturing further.

Notice just under the url for MSWC is the warning from Google. Here's the full explanation from Google Support...

Yeppers, so unless you want to see some ugly stuff, which would be infinitely more entertaining than Robyn's naked, pregnant nether regions, please don't venture there until Google (or your anti-virus protection) gives you the all clear!

If you want more information, here's an article from AATT that goes into a little more detail and speculation. It does make you wonder when was the last time Robyn actually LOOKED at her online store...apparently not this week.

MSWC Website Hacked AllAboutTheTea

Oh, and don't forget...Maddie's getting married very soon, so I would bet money Meri and Jangle will most likely be no-shows. Kody, Christine, and legal baby momma Robyn have been no-shows so far this season.

So let's party without them, doggone it! Checking the TLC website, there's a 2 hour episode tonight (Lord Give Us Strength) titled "Unforgiven" so let's party and snark!!!

It's L I V E  T W E E T  P A R T Y  T I M E   !!!!

Prepare yourself for MORE Kody BLOVIATING!!

Where's Kody's bald spots? Are those horns growing out of his forehead?

While Robyn plays the sweet and innocent Queen of the Cul-de-Sac !!
Robyn: This isn't really happening, this is all a dream!
Will Robyn actually tweet tonight?
Don't hold your breath!!

It's Sunday Night and Sister Wives is on the snark menu in My Living Room!!!

    3. I think it's good she's getting a hobby but I wish she would paint for herself. Kody doesn't care about anything but himself and maybe Robyn right now. It's better than Robyn's hideous portrait gift to Kody that rewrote history by drawing her kids in their younger with Kody. That was the creepiest drawing ever!!!

A hobby, developing a new interest, a creative outlet/therapeutic benefits...it's all good news on the Meri front.

I'd like to personally request that Meri paint over the disturbing caricature Robyn commissioned last season, which made a very unfortunate appearance in this week's episode, so no one has to experience being that creeped out and horrified ever again.

    1. It seems weird that we see Meri and Mariah have a talk about the state of their relationship, but we have yet to see Meri and Kody alone together discussing Meri's breech of trust. Technically the only person Meri betrayed is Kody, and their relationship is obviously fractured. They seem to not have any desire to mend things between the two of them ( paging Dr Nancy- therapist extraordinaire)! Meri did nothing to Mariah except embarrass her, yet that is the focus.

  7. I am shocked at Meri's reaction regarding not being able to take Solomon with her to Utah. Absolutely ridiculous. Slamming the door? I think Meri is probably an extremely difficult woman to deal with. I would not have felt the need to explain why I didn't want my toddler going for an overnight trip with anyone. The answer is No ...period. If you want to get mad, slam the door ....whatever. Bye.

    2. I was shocked by Meri's anger and the way she sulked and pouted when they went to her house to talk to her too. ITA with them and you, he is 4 years old.

Meri wanted to use Solomon to soften Mariah up and that is wrong, wrong, wrong. Why submit him to their intense personalities? He doesn't need to be around them while they are at this impasse.

      Delete
    3. The part that is dishonest is them professing they are all like Mom's to the other kids .Obviously that is not true.If you go back episodes this is the tripe they fed people. This is part and parcel of what the big selling point for polygamy is.Let us not forget Robyn wanted to harbour Meri's child in her womb. That is a little more personal than borrowing a kid for a trip that was suppose to be just like your own.And in what way are they going to be helping Meri ? Kody should take his kid in hand instead of being divisive. Same goes for Christine and Aspyn moving in with Robyn. He breaks all these women and plays good cop with the kids.

      Delete
    4. Yes,this proves that they don't "all parent all of the kids". If Meri wanted that type of relationship with Solomon, the kind where he would have been comfortable and enjoyed spending several nights away from home with her, she should have built it. She has that huge house and Meri has had him spend the night 1 time in his entire life! Pathetic! Then, she wants to take him away from home for several days to try and get on her daughter's "good side". I personally find Mariah revolting. She is mad at her mom? Okay, what about her DAD? Ugh! Also, parents are people also. We make mistakes. She didn't do this to hurt Mariah. Mariah needs to learn how to see things from other people's point of view. She is too old to act that immature. However, if someone wanted to take my son away from home for several days, I would consider the relationship they had built with my child and how comfortable my child was around them. Given what we know, I would have done what Robyn did. On this one issue! Otherwise, I honestly can't stomach her.

      Delete
    5. I was proud of Mariah and how she seems to have really opened her eyes about polygamy and is admitting to wanting more and better for herself. Bam, the girl has grown up!

I was also proud of her for calling out Meri (she did it on tv; IDK if she has done it face to face) for her emotional affair and for lying about how far it had gone. IMO, a lot more discussions about Sam went on between Meriah and her mom than we know about and that is why she's so upset with her. I don't think Mariah will ever fully understand why Meri did what she did until and unless Meri admits it first.

Until Meri admits the truth about the affair to herself (which I'm doubtful will ever happen) and until she admits it to her ex-husband and sister wives (which I find even harder to believe will ever happen) I don't think she has a chance to find the forgiveness she says she wants to much.

The majority of Meri's angst and unhappiness is directly a result of the lifestyle/religion she chose and there's no way in the world she'll ever be happy and fulfilled while she's still a part of it. I wish she'd get the courage to go to a therapist who didn't agree to steer clear of polygamy's cause and effect on their problems like their beloved Nancy does. Any therapist worth their license (I'm looking right at you, Nancy) would have them look honestly at how their lifestyle is causing them so much pain. And, we know that'll never happen with Nancy!

      Delete
    6. "Any therapist worth their license (I'm looking right at you, Nancy) would have them look honestly at how their lifestyle is causing them so much pain.

      Yes, Yes and Yes !!!

      Delete
    7. So many comments talking about the lifestyle being the cause of the pain. But even thought the Browns have tried to push it as a "lifestyle choice", it's not. it's doctrinal. These women think their literal eternal salvation depends on living this way. It's not a lifestyle choice for them; it's a celestial prison sentence - for life, time and eternity.

      Delete
    8. Anonymous 7:14. You are spot on. This is not a "lifestyle"; veganism is a lifestyle, living in a treehouse in Thailand is a lifestyle but polygamy is a religious belief. Kody will pull his 4 wives through the veil into the Celestial kingdom.

      Delete
    9. I disagree because I don't think the majority believe any of the tenets of their faith, except Christine and maybe Robyn. For Kody, it's a chance to be adored/worshipped. For Janelle, she got the man and somebody else to raise her kids. For Meri, again she got the man. I don't believe that either of those three believe polygamy is the only way to Heaven. If they did, they should be very worried about their children.

      Delete
    10. They're not worried about their kids getting into heaven. To them, heaven is free. Everyone gets into heaven (except a very few apostates who go to outer darkness). It's about what level you get to in heaven and if you will be exalted to godhood.

They believe they all existed in a pre-existence and chose their path in life back then; so if the kids choose not to follow polygamy, it just wasn't their "calling" from their pre-existence choices. But they are not worried about their children because they think the kids were sealed to them so will at least join them in their version of heaven (although the kids won't be exalted or become gods of their own worlds). And they really do think Kody will be exalted to a god and that they will all be goddesses with him (hence the "eternal" nature of their spiritual unions). But this exaltation is dependent upon them living the polygamy life well and the sister wives supporting him and each other so they can earn Kody that right to exaltation. And their own exaltation depends on if he then chooses to call them up, which is always his choice and they will never know until the afterlife.

It's a sick, sick lie that dirty ole Joe Smith told more than a century ago so he and his buddies could sleep around and it's still terrorizing women and children. It's so very sad. And it's so deeply, deeply engrained in all of them, that's it's very hard to leave. Very, very sad.

      Delete
    11. Thank you for explaining that. If they believe that, then no wonder Meri was gullible enough to believe that a good-looking, rich billionaire wanted to steal her away.

I watch scenes with Meri by turning closed captioning on and then pressing fast forward. It's amazing how Meri's words still go by too slowly in FF, but it takes most of the painful slowness away.

Between Meri's slowness and scenes all about people moving in, people moving out, people setting tables, .... well, this show is basically unwatchable. That fifth wife can't show up soon enough. Not really. I don't wish that on anyone.

    3. It was all a load of hog's wallop but the thing I find refreshing is Mariah starting to ask questions and do some critical thinking about plyg life. This has been a major shift in her thinking.

  13. Mariah has it really tough. At this point, she must be wondering what is loyalty, what is commitment? In a way, Meri is bearing the brunt of it, when both her parents have the issue. Its not just the catfish situation, how does Mariah now view Kody with his 4 wives?

We finally hear Mariah does not feel connected to the polygamy religion any longer. I wonder if she'll move back to Nevada?

    2. I agree Anonymous @ 7:16 and Mariah called her out on her BS, as well as her ridiculously thin eyebrows, on national tv. The spoiled girl is becoming an independently thinking woman! Take that Brown adults. lol

      Delete
    3. Mariah still seems like a spoiled child to me. Attempting to humiliate Meri by making an unkind comment about her looks in front of other people, because she's mad at her about other issues she refuses to discuss with her, is an incredibly childish thing to do. Particularly when Mariah looks as rough as she has lately.
Meri screwed up. But for Mariah to claim she's now this critically thinking adult who realizes the things she learned in her church weren't necessarily true, she has zero empathy for the emotional struggles her mom has had as a direct result of polygamy.

      Delete
    4. Mariah is probably mad at her mother more so because she was always the princess of the family. She always had more than all the other kids and now she's been kicked to the curb. (In her mind.) She still gets the most expensive college but it probably comes with loans these days. She probably blames her mother for the her lack of princess status when it's really her Dad and Robyn who have chipped that away from her. In terms of money she still gets more than the other children...even Robyn's. Meri should cut back the support so she learns now to become a better person. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. I do give her a break as she was so indoctrinated by that religion and was always compliant because it brought her rewards. It's hard to get cult religion out of your head.

      Delete
    5. I think Meri involved Mariah a lot more in her 'relationship' with Sam than they're telling the cameras. She took Mariah to Disney with her where she met "Lindsay" (I think) but only because "Sam" sent her in his place. I believe Meri had every intention of introducing Mariah to Sam but it fell through.

Mariah is showing real emotional pain, something we have not seen any other Brown kid have to go through, and this pain was inflicted by her mother. I feel for her, and, all things considered, her reactions have been mostly mature for a 20-year old. She's able to articulate her feelings of anger, betrayal, hurt, and more, and she is still able to access empathy and express love for her mom. I think she's on the right path to working her way through and past this awful situation.

      Delete
  15. Although I have in the past found Mariah to be petulant and unlikeable, I am beginning to see a side of her that I like. Mariah, if you read here, I agree with every word you said. It doesn't matter whether this "relationship" was real or fake, man or woman, catfish or lover. Your "married" mother had a relationship with this person, clearly against your advice. The fact that Meri (and Kody, and the others) have taken to referring to this person as a FRIEND, is a bald faced lie. Meri, we heard you begging, professing love, plotting meetings. We saw the provocative pictures. This was no mere FRIEND. No one FORCED you to beg for your love to be returned. No one FORCED you to take provocative pictures and send them over the internet. Perhaps when you get honest about all of this, you will earn the trust you destroyed. You fell in love with a fake internet predator, but you DID fall in love with someone who was not your husband. Mariah's education appears to be doing wonders for her. She said it herself. She's developing objective thinking abilities that have not been available to her until she broke free and started her own life. My advice? Insist that your mother stop lying about this "friendship". It was no such thing. Fake or not.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I absolutely agree with you. EVERYONE is pretending this was just a friendship and it clearly was not. It was an intimate relationship regardless of whether they actually met in person. I have no doubt that Meri would have left her sham of a marriage if the SAM had been a real man. Mariah is the only person actually being honest and not portraying Meri as a victim. Yes, it was horrible that she was catfished, but she would not have been catfished if she wasn't looking for a (or participating in) a romantic relationship online.

    2. I was raised in a religion where an emotional affair was just as bad as if you had had a physical affair... So as far as I'm concerned, it was an affair, not a "friendship".

Kody wanting to go wedding dress shopping: Ugh, enough, Kody. It's creepy how much he wants to be involved in the wedding dress selections in this family.
    Tree symbolism: Ugh.
Mariah: UGH, UGH. I don't blame her for being angry. I don't blame her for wanting/needing space. But she is painfully immature. I disagree that her college experience has made her a more well-adjusted person, she's the same entitled, bossy, girl. I don't think she's thinking for herself, she's still going along with a crowd. Before it was her faith, now it's her, "gender roles are gross" peeps. She reminds me of a middle/high school girl, rather than a young adult woman.

    3. Carmel Brownie,
Mariah is a typical sheltered kid who finally gets to college and has some new experiences. Usually, these kids learn about gender and gender roles while still in their freshmen year or early sophomore year, thanks to an English course or two on Gender and or Identity and for a few months, they read and learn all about gender and gender nonconformity and so on...but a few of these kids obsess over it because it is so totally antithetical to their family's world view so they use gender roles when they rebel, spout it to their parents and siblings, and even write more than the average amount of papers...I've seen students in accounting ethics write about gender roles and not in relation to business. LOL...so Mariah is stunted, as we all knew she was and would be. I am not watching sister wives this season, I tried but dammit, they annoy the piss right out of me. The deal with Mariah is she will always be emotionally stunted because her mother is and her father is and the other adults are. She reacts from a place of emotion instead of logic and that will never change for her and she will always feel and expect entitlement. Just from reading here and remembering Meri's I don't feel important and where do I fit in and blah, blah, blah...well, it's always "me" or "I" with her. I really wish she would leave the family and really struggle with life so that she can grow and and develop her emotions more than in relation to Kody....where do I fit with Kody; I'm not important to Kody; I am not needed by Kody...that's what she means. Bless her heart!!!

    4. "Gender roles are gross" Sounds like Mariah has taken a women's studies course or made friends with some third wave feminists. I think it's pretty interesting, actually. Although normally I just roll my eyes at college kids who spout the things she's been been posting on twitter(and I lean left), I think it's fun to watch her go through this change. I wonder where she'll land in a few years when she is out of college, and has had time to mature and process all these new ideas she's been exposed to.

      Delete
    3. anony @ 11:13pm, I think that's exactly what Mariah was saying when she said gender roles are gross. I took her to mean that she now sees the traditional roles her mom, dad, bonus-moms live with are gross and that is no longer what she wants for herself. When she left for college she wanted the woman breeder/man the planet ruler type of lifestyle for herself, now she doesn't.

      Delete
    4. If she rejects the roles of man and woman that she saw growing up she would know two things. Polygamy is stupid and that it really is no one else's business including her's whether her mom is emotionally faithful to her ex husband who is sleeping with several other women, or at least has the ability to do so.

An entire family group would have to be on board with being so public by marrying a brown kid. I think that is the main reason none of them have gone polygamist. Some we always knew never would. Some we knew never could cause there are just not enough women. The first kid to turn polygamist would be David/Dayton and all arranged by mommy. I'm sure she would pull a darger and have him marry two women at once. Her oldest daughter will be married by19. She is really needy due to her mom dragging the kids from place to place and family to family. Half the brown kids and Robyn's kids are at risk for attachment issues. It's not the girls fault. Mariah might have only been for polygamy until now as a sign of support for her mom and her mom's choices.

Seems Robyn was brought in to fulfill Kodys sexual needs and for companionship she was not getting with Janelle and Christine... Robyn is turning on her and Kody only has eyes for Robyn. rule #1 never trust another woman with your man.

    2. Notice there have been no scenes of Meri and Kody discussing Meri's emotional affair?! I think their spiritual marriage is over, and they have no intention of mending things between them. Wonder if that happens often in polygamous marriages - the man and one wife no longer have a relationship but she stays as part of the family?!

  25. So..Mariah told Meri to knock it off and dump the internet friends, and KOdy told her too....but she did it anyway and is now trying to repair trust. It make everything Meri says not make sense as far as protecting the family. I can only imagine what Mariah must have witnessed or heard over this period of time Meri was involved and meeting up with creeper woman. Or what Meri may have told her, i do feel for Mariah, her pain seems real.

But she appeared to have gained weight before becoming pregnant with Areola. I think she was on some fertility medicines, so was already heavier before she conceived.

  27. We were given a respite from Christine's fake laughing and only had to endure a very brief episode of fake crying during the dress shopping, so that was a plus for this one.

  28. I need someone to "splain" to me how Robyn can deliver a baby without spreading her legs. Every preview clip I've seen she's laying in bed, legs down, like she's going to take a nap, not push out a 9 pound baby. But, props to her for doing it without raising her voice or yelling at Koduche. That woman's got a high tolerance to pain, that's for sure. I normally can't stand to see her on the screen, but she's got baby deliveries down to a science!

  29. I can see why Meri was shocked about the whole Solomon thing. If Robyn wasn't 8 months pregnant and had a chance to go to Hawaii alone with kody again, I believe her "maternal instincts" would drop Sol off at bonus mom's house in a second. Nightmares or not.

  30. Again with the whining about your empty nest Meri? Tears over not knowing what "importance" you are to the family and where you fit? First of all, not every person in the world is important. Second, what exactly do you do to build and nurture relationship with all the kids you claim to be "mother" (fourth mother, but mother nevertheless) to? Even through the scripted TV show, you come across as withdrawn, exclusionary, and a favorite player. We never hear you talking about making an effort with Christine or Janelle's younger kids. You don't appear to interact with your neighbor wives. You appear to be wandering aimlessly through your lonely, empty nest life and yet you have 23 kids in your life that you say you are mother to?? I don't get it. Why the interest only in Robyn's kids? You could be making an effort with a dozen others. If you chose to. Get a job. Do what every other mother does when she's finished raising her kids. Find a life for yourself. I don't recommend sitting alone in your house playing with internet friends. Stop being such a snotty crybaby. You are no victim. Maybe when you stop feeling like you need to be special, or somehow "important", you will settle into what could be a satisfying and rewarding life.

  31. Last night's episode could be a strong contender for the SisterWives hall of fame of most repulsive, annoying shows so far. And considering all the garbage that show has aired through the years, that is saying something.

TLC must have thought they hit the mother load with Mariah's face time about Meri's Affair madness. Seriously, how much *relentless* mileage did they hone from that taping!!
Starting with the snippets shown at the beginning of this epp, coupled with the teaser at the end of last week's epp, I lost count of how many times they had clips of her diatribe before they actually showed the "talk." between the two of them. It was a relentless bit of producer mischief.
Sure, right.....A private walk and painful talk....in front of cameras..all scripted and camera ready.
    Really, TLC ??
However, Mariah did appear quite willing to vent her spleen and do her solo talking head which they then could efficiently chop up into handy pieces for suspense for the final 2 hour edit.
    It was a producer's dream.

And either someone at TLC has a thing for full-term pregnant bellies, or Kody really does have a say in what gets filmed and what hits the cutting room floor. The "feeling of the belly" was epic in its length. Seriously, who ok'd that bit? Who pasted that together?
It was ridiculous at best, squirmy uncomfortable watching Kody getting his kicks at worst.

Oh, and the faux scenes of the Idiot sulking because he isn't supposed to see Maddie's wedding dress so he will be teary overcome at the wedding......gee, ya think someone had to cover his eyes last night as he watched himself on TV ??

    Stupid, stupid fake show......!!!!!

"Hey family, sorry for the mayhem with me and the fish, so here's some Meri originals to grace your walls. All is forgiven and forgotten right?? You can trust me now."
It was laughable, but was a bit of comic relief, so kudos to the producers for that bit.
All that was missing from the "artist's teaching studio" was the wine and beer ala the wine and painting gigs popular now, which by the way are fun...once.
Her 'studio" looked like a hastily thrown together corner of a guest room or den with brand new cheap easels from Art World and a few tubes of paint.
But this is Kodyowrld where professionals are picked for their bottom lines ($$).

  34. Mariah and Meri both annoy me. Mariah is tired of being engulfed by her mother who needs to get a life. However Mariah is a person who has always seemed cold to me. It is telling how all the kids now even Mariah are now refusing polygamy. They know it does not work. Meri's paintings are not real art but that paint following the instructor 'wine and paint' kind of art. The trees annoyed me. Meri is wasting her life trying to fit into a family that booted her out long ago. Kody has his "new wife" and family with Robyn. It is gross to watch this woman crying every second, but then not admitting the true source of her depression. One can tell she is not happy with her giant empty house.

Christine and Janelle just live their lives with their kids and are happy being single moms, and Kody is this guy who just stops by to visit every now and then. Christine, I think shrugged her shoulders, and thought well I got my kids and I need the paycheck, so calmed down about Kody who has moved on. She doesn't seem to be clinging on to him though she tries to keep the peace with him. She just wants him to leave her alone.

Janelle, as the accountant personality, did the same long ago, she's got her kids and Kody is just there. She can take him or leave him but Meri is not happy being a single mother and Empty Nester. Meri did have more of a connection with Kody and status as the first wife and now that status is gone. It is sad to me how Meri cannot even admit she had emotional affair because she no longer shares a connection with Kody and that their "marriage" to him is long ago over.

It is sad and pathetic how all these women cry and blame themselves for this polygamy system that is inherently broken. Meri seems to do nothing but cry but she remains trapped. I believe when the show ends, Meri, Christine and Janelle, will completely move on from Kody, and Robyn and Kody will be living like a monogamous couple. Kody is proud of his endless kids he could never afford without the TV show and gets grosser with every new season. I agree that it seems Kody visits with his other kids but that the other three "relationships" are essentially over with no visits to other beds and have been for some time. These women aren't even girlfriends anymore or co-paramours, they are baby mommas and because there's no baby at home for Meri, she is basically a single woman, who gets to babysit other kids a lot with no real connection to them. She needs to leave but seems too afraid of being "alone" but then she needs to realize she is already alone.

This show has proven polygamy is a damaging system to both women and children.

  35. Mariah is still a spoiled entitled person. If she would stop and think how it must feel for her mother to be cast aside for wife #4 and get no respect from Kody maybe she could understand how vulnerable her mother became. Mariah is still ugly and her attitude makes it worse. Why do these women wepe away fake tears and check their finger tips all the time? Brianna seems like such a sweet little girl unlike her needy older sister. I don't see any of the kids embracing this way of life. I sure wouldn't.

Gosh, I can't believe I'm supporting Mariah, but she showed some perspective and maturity and so I'm hopeful...

About the wedding: I didn't understand the point of all the guys in the wedding party are dressing down and everyone can wear jeans and khakis... but then she needs a big, fancy, formal, traditional dress. The only point of having an informal wedding is so you don't have to be burdened by the fancy formal wear!

I remember back then and it seemed liked she was reveling in the "male" attention she was getting, particularly when she and Dreamer received those flowers. As noted back then Kody's mother's day floral arrangements were more expensive and he wasn't a self proclaimed millionaire. Even before that unfortunate time period, Meri was acting like a teenage groupie with her obsessive tweeting about VanLadyLove. It's obvious Meri is still searching now that she realizes her former "lover" has moved on...Perhaps she needs to explore monogamy by moving away from the cul-de-sac away from Kody's kooky control and experience love with a real man, not a millionaire just a regular guy. Something tells me she will experience fulfillment and realize how polygamy, at least for women, is not what it's cracked up to be.

Wasn't it just an amazing bit of coincidence that cameras were already in place at Sobbin's just as Meri comes over to ask for Sol..... and Sobbin and Kody had "no" idea??

Besides, why the surprise reaction when Meri walked in....if they knew she was coming?

      That's the other point........
How many times has one or the other supposedly told the camera something is going down, and then it happens. Are they all sealed to a solo contract of disclosure to the producers unbeknownst to the others, and then it is a matter of "action" with the others surprised? Doubtful.
It is just the same recipe of faux action and reaction that all reality shows use.

      Delete
    4. What was the surprise? Meri walked in they said Hello. And don't be naive, It's a "reality" show. Some stuff is set up in advance. Were they going to NOT react at all when Meri came over? They barely registered a "hello" that's not a giant surprise reaction. It's not fake, but it's also not perfectly real either.

      Delete
    5. Anon 12:42,
With respect to your opinion, I am not naive to the reality show format and process.
It is what makes the reality shows different from a documentary.

In a documentary, the subjects are filmed as they go about their lives. What is captured on film/tape is what takes place without plots or set ups.
The reality shows are dependent on creating situations to be filmed for viewer ratings and reactions to what is shown. SisterWives is no different from any other reality show.

As for the set up in question...
In real life, Meri would have simply called or gone to their house to ask to take the child with her. His parents would have either agreed or declined. No cameras, no fanfare, no fodder for the blogs....just a normal interaction. But that is not what Reality TV is all about.
It is a booming industry with millions of dollars on the line dependent on scenarios that incite interest and reactions, and at times, stretch credibility.
"Reality" TV may be a misnomer. Perhaps it should be called "created reality" TV.
So let's just agree to disagree. :-)

You know, Kody just wants more kids and is willing to appease the current breeder(Robyn) at the time. However, I don't think he is heads over heels and 100% devoted to her like he used to be. He never even fixed her broken couch before he handed it to Maddie. I bet if another pretty young thing came around, he would marry her in a heartbeat despite Robyn's protests. Even if he spends most of his time at Robyn's, I can see him skipping out if any real work or effort has to be made around the house. He would just say he had to check on another wife at that time.

  44. I just thought it was so awful of Meri to try to have a talk like that with Mariah on camera. Mariah told her she wasn't ready to talk and Meri kept pushing it. Whether it was to make herself feel better or just for the show, it was terrible to do that to your child (even though she's an adult, Meri should want to protect her).

Mariah may have been somewhat immature but I really don't blame her.

  45. It's interesting watching the show since I cut the cord with cable. It means I usually see lots of internet commentary and reactions before I can actually see it myself. After watching the latest episode this afternoon, I'm surprised; based on reactions I'd read, I expected to have a different response to the Meri/Solomon situation and to the Meri/Mariah situation.

I thought the Meri/Solomon situation was reasonable on all sides. Sounds like Meri spends quite a bit of time with Solomon and Mariah loves him and it wasn't unreasonable to ask to take him. Given how the Brown's seemed to raise the other kids, I could have seen any of the sister wives taking one of them at 4 years old on a short trip to see family; true, Robyn seems more over-protective generally, but it does seem that Solomon spends a good amount of time with Meri. (Interesting that Meri seemed to stop herself from saying where Kody and Robyn were out of town when he slept at her house....Hawaii?) Maybe Meri didn't know he'd been acting more clingy lately., so was caught off-guard by how fast Robyn said "No." And Robyn's response made complete sense to me, too; and I thought she was totally nice about it. (Gawd, I can't believe I'm saying nice things about Robyn...smh!) And I didn't think Meri stormed out in a huff and slammed the door. She looked like she was going to cry and tried to leave while she was still holding it together.

And count me on Team Mariah. She did make some immature and snarky comments; the eyebrow thing was just mean and she could have said something to her mom in private and without cameras. But other than that, I thought she was reasonable and dead-on. She hasn't cut her mother off and in fact told her she loved her several times. I think she's just lost trust and faith - and perhaps most importantly respect, for her mother. And her mother's actions didn't just affect her, they affected Mariah too. I can understand that she's angry and she probably knows she'll just stay angry if she tried to talk to her about it now, mostly because it's obvious Meri is still in denial. And I don't think Mariah will put up with the BS when she talks to her. If Meri would be honest and really come clean, I bet Mariah would talk to her about it and be a support to help her really get to a good place. But as long as Meri is still in denial, I don't think Mariah is willing to play along with it. So again I shock myself because she is a Brown who has bugged me so much in the past.....but I'm Team Mariah. She spoke truth and she actually did it reasonably and with some love and compassion.

And finally, how cute is Breanna!? I can't believe she's only 11. She is going to be a tall girl. And she is sweet and funny and adorable. Loved her!

  48. My Sisters have kids and they have been dropping them off with me since they were 1 years old. I take them on trips, have them for weekends all the time, and they spend weeks in the summer with me. I love those kids more than anything. We created an Aunt and Uncle's house that is a kid's dream house. We Heat the pool, buy outdoor toys, and indoor toys. We take them on vacations that include ATV riding, boating, lazy rivers, and national parks. We play board games with them or sometimes just sit on the patio and talk to them. They bring school projects over and we help with those. I never dreamed of this being my life but it is the most rewarding thing ever. In fact, I believe that God put me on this earth to be an Aunt. Everything else seems so unimportant. These ladies live next door to each other so why aren't they having kid sleep overs all the time? Why wouldn't they go on trips with one another? Meri could be the awesome Aunt or Sister Wife Mother..Whatever. She should install a pool in the backyard and spend quality time with those kids. It would bring her the most rewarding experience she could ever imagine. She would definitely find her place in life. Robyn would probably try to keep her kids from going there too much as Robyn is a sociopathic, narcissistic control freak. Kody would get nervous too as he couldn't parade around as the man of the year. Christine and Janelle's kids would benefit greatly and they need that since their father is not a healthy roll model in their life. In fact, I think Christine would join in and help plan some awesome activities for the kids. Meri..Take my advice...Be that awesome "Autie." Mariah would come around very soon as well. You would be the hero of the cul-de-sac and more importantly you would gain something that is better than anything some rich, vegan guy who owned a plane could ever give you.

Here's my two cents on the feelings of worth that polygamous women attach to child bearing, rearing, and sharing: 1) these women feel their entire worth involves their womb...can they have enough children to earn the respect of the other wives and the baby daddy? 2) if they are beyond child bearing age and when their child/children leave the nests, they struggle with what to do and the first thing that comes out of the mouths of the other wives is help us raise our kids...be our sitter...help us and if they are like me, after my kids grew up, I didn't want to raise anyone else's kids and that goes for my grandkids too...I love them and take them to really cool places and visit them and they visit me, but my value as a human isn't about my ability to be a good mother or grandmother...it's nice that I am considered both but when I meet to friends, the first thing out of my mouth to legitimize my worth is not my parenting/grand parenting/fertility status...no, it's who I am what I do....I don't put out the pictures of the kids until long into the relationship because I am more than the sum of those experiences. That's where I and usually monogamous differ from the polygamous women...their identity is tied to their uterus....so Meri isn't going to feel useful until she finds her identity and what she likes and wants to do with the rest of her life. It doesn't have to be school; it could be a job she likes or it could be hobbies, or a gang of women who like something like camping or running or something that is what will make her more individualized over the other wives....this notion that Christine is the kitchen wife; Janelle is the worker wife.....sucks because women are more than those skills that are ideal at making a man's life easy.....hell, what about making their lives easy....

    2. I agree with everything you just wrote. Everything is tied into them being mothers. And once their children are grown, they are left with "what now??" Meri has been going thru that process since Mariah graduated high school. I wonder if Christine and Janelle will feel that way soon too?? It's very sad that they cant see the good things in beginning a new chapter in their lives. Instead, they're left with "what the heck do I do now??" What is my self worth as a person if I dont have a child in the home?? I was reluctant to watch this season, since the last season was so depressing. When I first started watching the show, I was intrigued, and wondered how these women coped. But, year after year, I see how the women are so sad, they all look depressed. Even Robyn looks tired now. She is not the spunky Wife#4 anymore. She looks just as haggard.

  49. I am going to say that I admire Mariah for speaking her mind and saying that it was a romantic affair, not a friendship and it doesn't matter that there was no guy, Meri thought there was and it happened.
BUT, that being said, I think her comment about Meri's eyebrows in front of the others was so mean. Meri has truly given her all to that child. She shouldn't be such a brat and she should try to be a little more supportive of her mother who has done everything for her. I think Mariah might be a little afraid that she would be cast out if her mother is out. There are no other full siblings to hold her in, she would be on her own. I'm sure there is some fear there for her.
And Robyn....It is her right to say no about Sol, but please spare us the crap that "we are all their mothers." That's just not true. Small children often want their mothers at night, nothing strange about that. But they want THEIR mother, not their bonus mom next door.
I agree with several others' comments here. If Meri wants to find her place, she needs to be involved with the other children. AND NOT JUST ROBYN'S CHILDREN!!!! Christine and Janelle have plenty of kids to go around and I'm sure they could use a helping hand in driving them to activities, school projects, babysitting smaller children. All things she can do to incorporate herself into the family and feel like she has a "place."
And last thought....We sure are seeing more of Mindy this season. Wife #5??? It's starting to be more believable.

    1. Mariah is completely right on. She has changed so much over the years and has had her eyes opened in a dramatic way. I hope that she becomes a strong and successful woman and shows her mother how it's done. I remember being that age and trying to figure things out. Not easy.
Also, not a fan of Robyn, but I will say that neither of my kids went on trips away from me when they were as young as Sol--I fully understand Robyn's reaction against Meri taking Sol on a trip like that.
To be honest, I stopped watching after this season's first episode, and I don't miss it, since I have been checking in on this blog.

    2. 1.349 M viewers and a .4 rating.

    3. That's basic cable numbers. Everything in the top 100 hover more or less in this area. I think the bigger picture here is that ratings for everything are gradually sinking. The numbers for Sister Wives are consistent. And in this world of Youtube, Netflix, and Amazon I imagine a network likes that consistency.

  52. I am sorry to disagree, but I think Mariah acted childish, narcissistic, and entitled. Maybe it is because she has always been treated that way, but she is still the child and what romantic relationship her mother has is none of her business. Especially when "Dad" can sleep with any woman he wants. For the first time, I felt a little bad for Meri. I still can't stand her, but I can see she was just desperate for love, attention, and affection and fell in to this trap. Almost any woman that had been tossed aside would do the same.
Did no one catch Kody admitting they are grifters living off the government? When he said he hoped "Baby Sister" (I hate that name) would be born on December 31 so he would not have to pay for her all year but reap the benefits during tax season. Since when did he ever pay for any of his kids. I still believe the divorce between him and Meri had more to do with Mariah getting government grants by being the child of a single mom than Kody wanting to adopt more kids. Any way to work the system...
I also agree with the post above- Kody is losing interest in Robin. Time to find a new, younger woman to cling to. He will probably talk the wives in to his idea of a new wife by telling them it will be good for ratings and help save the show but we all know the skank is just wanting a new play toy.

    1. Mariah would not be eligible for any federal grants; Meri makes too much from TLC. And both parents income are considered on a FAFSA, regardless if the parents are married.

      Delete
    2. Actually, both parents incomes are not always considered on the FAFSA. As a divorced woman, only my income was used to determine eligibility. Also, if the money goes into one pot in the beginning, it would be possible to manipulate things so that it appears that Meri has little income.

      Delete
    3. This is what I wondered too. If all the money from the show goes into one pot. Maybe a company with a Brown title. This would give Meri very little control or leverage.I will not profess to be an expert but was their lawyer not the family lawyer? Yet he did Meri's divorce.

    4. I don't think him saying that he wished the baby would come before December 31st is him trying to fool the government. Every person I know who has been expecting a baby around that time of the year has stated that the hope the baby is born before the 31st so they could claim it on their taxes for the year.

  54. My issue with the Mariah vent is that she agreed to film it.
No one would fault her for being angry, hurt, embarrassed, disillusioned, etc, about what her mother did.
However putting it out there for the masses knowing it would be chewed to death by public opinion is a decision she make later regret. And really what did she accomplish since, Meri, on camera, still stuck to her story that she was victimized and coerced?
Mariah's age may not be a factor here, but her inherent behavior style.

    1. Is it really surprising that Mariah agreed to film with TLC dangling a big check in front of her? This is the meat and potatoes of "reality" shows. And maybe she really thought that she could encourage her mother to actually be honest for once about what happened, instead of playing the perpetual "victim" card. I don't watch the show, but my sympathy for Meri decreases more and more as she fails to acknowledge that she was a willing partner in what she believed to be "true romance." I'm sure that it did turn nasty toward the end, but there is no way she was coerced into sending radiant (or dubious) photos and declarations of love to the batfish. She was looking for something she didn't have in her relationship with a narcissistic man who busies himself with multiple women, There was nothing wrong with her wanting something better, but her pretence now about it all is an insult to anyone with intelligence.

      Delete
    2. I imagine it was also Mariah's way of maintaining some control over her "voice" in the story. She talked about Meri breaking her trust. I expect that was partially that she didn't follow Mariah's advice to not-even-start/break-off the relationship with CF, she probably froze Mariah out during that time (much like Kody descried himself being frozen out) as she prioritized the CF and, although not stated by anyone on screen, she was talking to the CF ABOUT Mariah. Meri didn't just put herself "out there" by being so indiscrete with this crazy CF person, she also put Mariah out there. And now Meri is in total denial and trying to rewrite history about what happened. I expect Mariah was ok with or even wanted to film things herself so that she had more control over how her own point of view was portrayed. I can respect that choice.

      Delete
    3. It is funny you bring up control issues. This is why I think Meri has developed a personality this way. She has no say over the big picture so she micromanages all the small details. She took her role as number one and held on tightly. Living in a dysfunctional situation one with not act in a functional way. They just fit in as they can.

      Delete
    4. Yup. It's interesting to see how all of the wives adapt to that complete lack of control over the biggest things in their lives. I've often felt when watching the show that the wives are like the biggest kids in the family. They are referred to in a very impersonal way (THE wives or THE moms, much like parents refer to THE kids in a collective).

And although there are many examples of the lack of control they have, the biggest one that sticks out in my mind was the decision about the divorce and new legal marriage. It was entirely Kody, Meri and Robyn's decision. Janelle and Christine were not consulted at all about something that would totally shake the power structure in the family in the immediate future and after Kody's death. And, particularly after Kody's death, something that would potentially put their own and their children's financial stability at risk. Even if they all actually would trust Robyn in that powerful role, the fact that they were not even consulted is stunningly offensive and disrespectful. They were notified. And they were notified literally the day before it happened. And they were notified after some of the kids. I don't think I have the words to describe the level of disrespect and disregard that this shows.

And it's just one thing. One huge thing, but still just one thing. There must be thousands and thousands of other insults and disrespect over the course of a lifetime in this hell-on-earth their religion locks them into. Awful.

    5. Anon 9:41, I totally agree that the women are not valued. The decision to move to LV was not one they were allowed to stop; he and Robyn made the decision, they followed. Likewise, the choice of the new wife was made not by the group as they lead others to believe but Robyn and Kody connected at a party, Meri saw that there was a connection, so to save face, she got involved in the process...it's a matter of I cannot stop it, so let me be the one to say I brought you two together...that way, I am not pitied but hailed as so cool and down with all of this. The other women were told about it much later. The bringing in the extra children, the adding extra biological babies, even where which kids go to college are all examples of the wives lack of voice. In fact, Kody makes a decision and they either do it or leave. I think that is why women from monogamy cannot see polygamy as a healthy lifestyle for women because the women lose their power. My husband and I are partners and we make decisions together and sometimes I am not on board with where we go on vacation but I go because sometimes he isn't on board with my choices...but those little things are the things that couples can negotiate over but those huge things like up and moving the family or adding adults to the bedroom are not choices that should be made without 100% agreement with all parties. Not that my husband nor I share our bedroom....well, I take that back, we have three fat cats that think they must sleep between us...but other than those bitches, no others enter the sanity of our bed....Anyway, you are so right, polygamous women are on the same status as the kids....the children...the wives...the moms...and when he says their names, he says them so fast Robynmerijanellechristine....just like that and he smirks when he says it......they are one...mine....my wives....I own them.

    6. Agree on Meri saving face by saying she chose Robyn for Kody. In fact, in the first episode, Meri happily said that she picked all three of the women to join the family. I guess, as with most rewritten Brown history, never mind that Meri has said the complete opposite in later episodes. Meri has said at various times that she was blindsided by Kody marrying Janelle, and that Christine was very difficult for her to adjust to. Nothing the adults say rings true.

  56. [I didn't intend to have my full name on my post, so will try again)]

I'm not fond of Robyn, and I think that Sol has been babied in a way that I haven't seen with the other kids. However, I feel that Robyn already has "Baby Sister" intruding into Solomon's life in a very negative way. Is Robyn's house so short on bedrooms that Sol and Baby Sister have to share one? It doesn't look like a very big bedroom for two - even if Baby Sister will spend most of her time in the crib. I really disagreed with the way that Robyn kept presenting sharing that room to Sol. She kept asking him if he was okay with that, and did he want to share the room. It seems to me that she gave him all kinds of reasons to say that he didn't want to share with the new baby - not only his room, but also his mother. No wonder he wakes in the night and wants to come into bed with Robyn. He doesn't know how to say that he doesn't want to share with Baby Sister, so he turns it into neediness. Wants to come home from a play date in order to see his Mommy.

  58. I don't like Mariah, but I don't fault her for correcting the narrative publicly like this. People are going to speculate no matter what she says/doesn't say. And since Meri has done nothing but insist that she never actually cheated because the catfish wasn't really a man, and the rest of the family refuses to call her on it, SOMEBODY had to say it. Kody doesn't have much of a moral leg to stand on, which basically leaves Mariah as the primary victim of the lie.

  59. It is sad, and indicative of the lack of "real" interaction this love-sharing family professes to have, that Mariah felt so alone in her frustrations about her mother.
What?? No counselor, no peer siblings, no bonus mom, no bffs, no one for her to vent to... to seek validation for her turmoil??? No One ???

As much as Mariah can grate, I doubt she did the TH for the money, if indeed she would have even received bonus $$ for her facetime. She is still a minor. Wondering if the producers talked her into it??
They (producers) certainly got a ton of teaser mileage out of it.

    Speaking of counselors.........
Thought how sad it was for Meri to suggest that Mariah and she get counseling for their stalemate.
Too bad, Meri didn't think "counselor" for her own distress about being replaced by Sobbin.
She too needed a "voice" to express her grief and rejection and may have been less likely to dive headfirst into the Sham debacle.

    1. Curious, why do you say that Mariah had no one to talk to? Did I miss that? Also, she is not a minor ( if we're talking over 18).

I know Maddie tweeted to her that she did have a part in their family ( a while back), so I think she and Meri have both been playing the outsider card. I hope it's not true that if the mom is in trouble, so are the kids. That is craaaazy!

    2. I said minor because no one knows if the children get individual payment for appearances on the show. ????
Would she have filmed that if she had a confidante, professional or otherwise??
Someone to talk to her, help her sort through her feelings...hear her version?

    3. I echo Amused's comments.

Meri offered that Mariah, when she was ready, have a session with Nancy the therapist. That struck me as so contrived and controlling. Mariah probably has access to free or affordable mental health services on campus. Also, it's a personal and individual decision, but Mariah should have sought counseling or help to process what did occur, which would have led her to address her anger with what she's facing now.

If Meri and Mariah are crying that they're alone in that family, it's just one more example of their inadvertent condemnation of polygamy and Kody's leadership, but then, he cried victim, too.

One final note: Meri's visit to Mariah in Utah had to be in mid- to late December (immediately before the birth of "Baby Sister" (gag)). So, Mariah didn't bother going home between semesters and may just be brooding non-stop.

    4. I also have a feeling that Meri expected a very different playing out of that talk, and that she probably pressured Mariah to participate. Kudos to Mariah for expressing *her* truth in that moment.

Either Sobbin is seriously IQ challenged, or Kody is a self-obsessed idiot who has the loyal ear of the producers for his talking head spots.

Or maybe Kody really is licensed/ordained in his church.
Either way, it's disappointing that he performed the wedding~ just once he should stay out of the limelight.

  68. I cannot imagine how awful the cat fishing was for Mariah. For the longest time, her mother was the legal wife and head wife. The other children were second to her as were their wives second to her mother and in the book, if you really do a an analysis on what the wives say, you get the real picture, so it's not just me speculating. Plus we've seen the fits she has thrown on TV because they got in their homes before she got in her home.....and now, in front of the nation, her mother's dirty little secret is not only on the news, but the cat fisher put all the texts and pictures together on a blog and in a book and the show is featuring it....so I get why she is so humiliated. I am not sure but there hasn't been much said about if the other girls in the family have supported her or have they smirked at her vast position change....sort of like watching her eat crow. Again, this is where polygamous relationships damage the women and their children. I'm not a fan of the obnoxious antics of Mariah either but this time I do feel sorry for her....

  69. So, Meri's idea for painting Robin's relationship with Kody is a sunrise -- which, according to Meri, represents her and Kody being in the early and rising part of their relationship. To follow that theme, I noticed that Janelle's was dark, showing almost no sunlight. Christine's "whimsical" themed painting, according to Meri's symbolism, CERTAINLY would represent a sunrise - but rather a sunSET - waning waning waning gone.

    1. I'm not sure she carried that same sunrise/sunset theme across all paintings; i think it was just something she was putting into Robyn's to show deference to their relationship and get back into Kody's good graces.
