From Meri's inspirational treasure trove.....
ReplyDelete"Meri Brown ✔ @MeriBrown1
I surround myself with empowered women... "
Umm........no you don't !!
Empowered women would never put up with sharing a man......especially Kody.
Amen to that!!
DeleteIn the Thanksgiving decoration planning, Janelle quit in so many ways before they even started. It's typical laziness, but she tries to spin it as that Meri has it under control, so it's done.
ReplyDeleteSo far in this epp, the crises du jour in Kodyworld are :
ReplyDelete1- Jangle is overwhelmed at the setting of the table......laughable !!
She sees it "as big nebulous".....She is comatose...really !!
2- Kody has tangled cables.......!!
No, say it isn't so...........!!!
Hunter must see lights strung from the houses ala the "should be committed" party so he knows he is home. Insane !!
or .....TLC had absolutely NOTHING left to film with these grifters.
One thing though.....I would hate to see any of them have REAL problems to solve in life if these stupid plots are supposed to be soooo challenging.!!!I
So far this is INSULTING to watch !! Just ridiculous crap to fill up the time slot.
I see Robyn tweeted a pic of Kody & baby A. Too bad he was never like that with Truely. I'm sure Christine just loved that indirect jab of a tweet.
ReplyDeleteI saw a pic of Kody with Truely earlier. You know they read this board and that pic was posted for show. It was a cute tweet tho!
DeleteAnd did you see the look on her face? Priceless. She's a perceptive little person.
DeleteHalf the show has now been devoted to the Thanksgiving decorations: 70 spray-painted cans. The intervening drama was Kody's hanging lights in the wind. The talking heads are each adult's interpretation of the symbolism of these activities. It's painful.
ReplyDeleteAlso - after 25+ years as not being the decorator, why would Jangle usurp Meri's role as reconciliation?
I feel sorry for the middle children, who are dragged into the decorating activity.
It just occurred to me why these people are not leaving their misery. They think the law is the cause of their misery when it's really the polygamy. Glad the kids have not embrace polygamy yet.
ReplyDeleteIn the show opening, Meri says that she believes polygamy makes her a better person. Has she, or any of the wives, ever described exactly what or how they're better because of it? What emotions or behaviors or lifestyle is better, and what specifically about their beliefs makes the difference between them and a monogamous person?
DeleteOh Wow.....Kody is "the MAN" braving the wind to string cables for the lights standing on the top of the ladder......
ReplyDeleteBut....shhhhhh...don't tell anyone........
TLC had to have had a cherry picker truck (like the utilities companies use) with a camera crew filming "the MAN" doing his manly and dangerous stuff parked right beside Kody-Idiot .so he was never in danger......!!!
And Kody' new "do" looks like he had a recent perm....the Dutch Boy/ Amish special !!
And wouldn't t it have made more sense to attach the cables to the center ring on the ground first then attach each cable to the houses. Guess not when you are Kody and doing it stupid not right
DeleteShhhh, writejenn. That is too practical and it makes too darned much sense for any of the Brown adults to understand. Plus, it wouldn't be nearly as dramatic, nor take as much camera time, as their "stupid - not right" method.
DeleteJangle, the indecisive non-shopper always concerned about their finite resources, bought Christmas stockings, including one for Logan's girlfriend of 9 months, before Thanksgiving. It sounds like she paid full price.
ReplyDeleteShe didn't buy one for Kody, to which he replies, "I'm just a sire, not the father." One woman replies, "That's why the kids came out so well," or something to that effect. These people really hate each other.
That woman was Janelle! Honestly, I think it was the first real thing Kody has ever said on the show.
DeleteToo funny. This had to be the best moment of every episode ever. I think it has to be pretty true. I mean, I am sure Kody comes around to wrestle and rough house with the boys and he comes around to soak in some of the spotlight of Madison's wedding, but was he really around that much for any of the hard child rearing moments? I bet Savannah barely knows him. Logan was probably the man of his household, hence Jangel remembering Michelle, but forgetting about Kody, Whoops!
DeleteThat was such a WTF moment for me. How do you buy a stocking for the dog and your college age son's girlfriend but not your husband and father of your 6 kids? These people are so strange.
DeleteJust further evidence of where the Kodster spends his time.
Deletetheir tweeting all of these i love you's are so fake. They live next door to each other...it's just for the show.
ReplyDeleteThey're also emphasizing this on the show. Again, if they say it often enough, it must be true. Or, they're trying to convince themselves. They show each mother with different bonus kids, and they show the half-siblings front and center for Hunter's big return. Of course, Kody was toting King Sol out to the lights.
DeleteThe oxymoron of the epp so far.......
ReplyDeleteJangle says "I am emotionally overcome" .....???????
How can one tell.......???
Sobbin gets her face-time saying how MUCH she can't wait until Hunter comes home...!!
ReplyDeleteThen....is filmed commenting on how Hunter didn't gush about "the lights"......
She is so stealth.......
Mariah should ditch the lumberjack plaid shirts. Not a good look for her.
Why is Meri always acting like she is just so superior and has such good taste. At least Janelle shows some self awareness and realizes she's falling into her old pattern of just letting Meri boss everything. Janelle is too passive and I can see how that would get on someone's nerves, but Meri really has no room, like at all, to try to come across like she's so much better than Janelle. That's kind of the vibe I get. Someone else had said that on another board and I agree.
ReplyDeleteI can understand Janelle taking a back seat. She admitted decorating was out of her element and it was something Meri does well. I respected Janelle for recognizing that in herself and acknowledging she needed and wanted to learn. When Meri started giving orders instead of giving helpful instructions, I'd have stepped back just like Janelle did, too. I understand Janelle not wanting to start up conflict. Score: Janelle 1, Meri 0.
DeleteInteresting..... the catfisher special is saying how single people "looking for love" are vulnerable......
ReplyDeleteand they are showcasing Meri as a prime example......
But our gal Meri was "not having a affair"......remember !
Did anyone hear Janelle say "everyone's here ... Including Meri." And Meri was about to swing her foot off. I noticed when Meri is "over it", she swings that foot.
ReplyDeleteLol...true to form, Robyn's daughter was the first one to get to Hunter and about knock him out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, in the oh-so-adorable, "King Sol, do you like your room decor?" scene, one of the daughters hovers in the background the entire scene. The camera never catches her face - you only see her Huntington Beach sweatshirt from the Kody & Pixies vacation. And, Robyn and Sol have their backs to her the entire time, playing for the camera. There's no reason for her to be there - she's like the "Something's Terribly Wrong" sign in the Meri therapy scene.
DeleteYep........she sure was !!!
DeleteThat poor girl. I feel the worst for Robyn's kids. I hope her girls see the light at some point. It's got to be awful having a mom like that and can you imagine having your bio dad torn down publicly, on top of being on a reality show and part of a large polygamist family? What a nightmare.
DeleteI'm not watching SW. So I'm coming here for yalls snarky details :) I'm flipping channels between OKC Thunder game & Billboard awards. I'm only watching to see my GoGo's & see what kind of show Madonna is gonna put on for Prince tribute.
ReplyDeleteSeems like they could have found Robyn a better fake pregnancy tummy! It's obvious the couch scenes were filmed after the baby was born. She looks like she has a couch pillow shoved under her shirt. Her belly looks so different than in the "nursery" scenes.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder SW the show did little about Meri and Sham.....
ReplyDeleteThis special was in the works where Meri gets to be an innocent victim who was forced to call with those VMs and send pics.........because she was "afraid"....!!!
Was she made to send the banana pic...??? Made to fingernail carve his name in her leg and selfie that.?
I am not quite sure what they are afraid of. They had someone come to their house and thsat was scary. Since then they announce when the kids are having a fundraiser and will be present. Show their new accomodations and new workplaces. So for safety conscious people they are quite the contradictions.
ReplyDeleteI'm conflicted on whether or not I believe Meri's story; on one hand, it would not surprise me if "the friend" who visited her was making threats. On the other, I really do think that at least some point, Meri was willing and looking to leave with Sham, and the vast amount of VMs can point to that. Still...who saves that many VMs, real relationship or not? Maybe there is something to Meris's story and CF was stockpiling along to blackmail or sell to tabloids???
ReplyDeleteI thought a lot of Meri's story was full of unnecessary and unfounded drama.
DeleteI think the majority of Meri's "fear" is her misunderstanding and simply being too naive and unaware of what is taking place in the lives of most people who aren't involved in a cult like she is. Her saying she was being followed or her house/phone were bugged because Sam knew where she was is a prime example. There is a simple iPhone app that shows user's locations - and it's used by millions of people, but she became paranoid about it when most wouldn't give it a second's notice.
She and her fellow sister wives and their cult leader have their heads in the sand and misconstrue statements most people wouldn't think twice about. They judge everything from their narrow and unrealistic polygamous frame of reference and it leads to them jumping to unrealistic conclusions.
I'll admit I've spent way too much time checking out the catfish's tweets, and while I believe Meri has reframed and revised her intentions (1,000%), I also totally believe that catfish threatened her.
DeleteI 'read' the catfish's 'book' and even the 'I'm so romantic and cute and sensitive' anecdotes written to place catfish in a glowing light are fucking terrible. The kind of subversive abusive crap that teens and tweens do in relationships because they see it on tv and don't have the tools or life experience to realize how overly dramatic and unhealthy they're being.
The persona created to woo Meri is laughable and creepy at the same time, and the fact that a grown woman not only fell for it, but planned to leave her family because of it is humiliating. This situation shows how emotionally and intellectually stunted Meri is, and how desperate and unhappy she must have been to even engage this person at all.
Catfish's best attempts to create the 'dreamy vegan yet muscularly handsome sensitive and spiritual billionaire' make the average readers skin crawl. It's not even fantasy, it's obvious delusion and at no point reads like a straight or well adjusted grown man.
All of these things show a seriously unbalanced person at the helm and the catfish's following Twitter interactions are full of threats and vitriol. So while I agree that Meri misunderstood some of the technology involved and has played up the nature of the threats, I do not believe she has outright made up the feeling of being threatened. I just think she's fudging the timeline and her reactions to such threats.
There was definitely manipulation and abuse (quite a bit in their tweets alone), and yet it was still better than living with Kody.
That's what Meri should really be scared of...
Wow well put 'LaPetiteTerror', that hits the nail on its head. It's creepy she didn't recognize it as weird, that she's so far into lala-land that any healthy alarm bells have been muted. Sad really.
DeleteSurprise, surprise... Aurora just had to be the first one in Hunter's arms when he walked in the door. Robyn has royally screwed that girl up.
ReplyDeleteOf course she did. I worry for Aurora. I also worry for the effect that her spotlighting likely has on the other children of the family, especially Christine's often overlooked daughters.
DeleteHunter even had to tell her that he had to hug the other kids too.
DeleteTLC Revisionist History:
ReplyDelete"While news about her impending divorce was beginning to spread, Meri was catfished..." Too bad the divorce was discovered after-the-fact and even blindsided TLC. Later, Meri says that although she was flattered by and accepted the attention, she fended off Sham by telling him that she was married.
The catfish special also says that the pressure from the catfish in isolating her was so much that Meri broke, then it cuts into the clip of Meri, saying, "Don't be surprised if I just up and leave..."
Meri apparently figures out all by herself that she's been catfished, as soon as she learns the term. And, she was partly susceptible because so many people were tweeting her such negative things. She's such the victim.
"Sometimes it's easy, for me, to just not have Kody mad at me." Says Meri..what did she think bolting from the family for a complete stranger she met online was going to do to Kody???? she contradicts herself so much.
ReplyDeleteThe BS that Meri is the biggest victim of catfish in the history of the Internet is just about the most ridiculous crap I've ever heard especially since there is also a catfish story that involved a murder!!!!! (On the same show) But Meri Brown is struggling to pick up the pieces...give me a break.
ReplyDeleteMeri will be picking up the pieces forever unless she decides to be honest with herself and her family about what really happened. The way they dance around subjects drives me nuts. They are their own worst enemies and the direct cause of most of their problems.
DeleteMeri won't be truly happy until she admits polygamy isn't for her and leaves Kody and the Brown chaos behind.
DeleteRobyn has so much crap in her house. Guess she has all the money for shopping these days.
ReplyDeleteOld habits die hard. I bet her closet and drawers are full of Victoria's Secret too.
DeleteWanna bet how much credit card debt good ol' Sobyn has racked up right now? Kody was very unwise to tie his horse to her cart because he'll be on the hook too and I don't know if he can just declare bankruptcy again.
DeleteLurker here. I've been waiting to see if anybody would comment on her junked up house. When I first noticed how much stuff she's crammed in there since they moved in, since those TLC home tour videos, all I could think was "Why would she do that?" Her house just looks awful. Sanford and Son came to mind...
DeleteAnother observation...... Kody likes to put his drill in the background scenes which is supposed to make us think he really uses it. He can't even do a good job pretending. I can use a drill better than him. I'm married to a real man that doesn't have to show off his drill. He'll fix things before anyone notices. Kody, check your man card. I bet your wives can use the Dewault better than you!
ReplyDeleteThe nursery/Solomon room is so half-a**ed. Seriously all they did was organize it and hang some sheer/very thin curtains. I thought when Robyn said split the room with pink and blue there would be some painting and maybe a little effort involved. And why did the other dubbed, mainly Christine need to come help move out Solomon's crap? I had a child a few weeks before Robyn and was super active till the end... she seems to be using this pregnancy for attention and to have others help her do things. Also, sheer curtains in a nursery?????? We have blackout in both our kids rooms because they nap during the day. She also put the bumpers in the crib. For a family which uses women as a conveyer belt for babies should know those bumpers are NOT recomended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The curtains and bumperstell me neither kid will be using this room.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, snarker - neither kid will be using the room.
DeleteI scratched my head about the silly storyline about fixing up that room for the 2 kids, too. They've admitted Sol slept with them for a very long time (despite Kody's complaints) and I assumed nothing would change with the new baby, so why pretend any child would be sleeping there... and then I remembered they had to come up with something to film for the show. And, as you pointed out, it's obvious the room isn't conducive to any child actually sleeping there.
Any excuse to spend or should I say waste money, right?
DeleteThe last 2 episodes Christine has really played up the sister wife camaraderie charade in her sofa time.... think she's learned the key to having kody not be a complete jerk to her and totally dismissive of her kids! ( remember when she said in the Galveston episode that kody relationship with her kids changes when he's unhappy with her)
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that he doesn't seem to appreciate it either. He doesn't seem to love her any more or even really buy the act.
DeleteHe refuses to give her "five" last episode when she made a joke about Robyn. He though he laughed. He was also quick to say he didn't think Robyn's idea was "stupid." Even though it was obvious he did. Robyn didn't seem bothered by the watch incident. She sure seemed confident.
And remember on the Thanksgiving episode and they were talking about the tables, Christine went into her "soft" voice and Kody just walked away. Personally, I think with Meri in the doghouse and off her throne and also Robyn big and pregnant, it probably made Christine feel better and like she might have a chance with Kody. I'm not a Christine fan, but if I had to choose, she'd definitely be in the top two of the wives, IMHO.
DeleteAlso she was looking cute in her leggings and boots.
Christine is working hard for Kody's attention these days, poor thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Kody is back to a 3 night rotation and has cut Meri out. That probably makes Christine very, very happy. Seeing your husband every 3 days is a lot better than seeing him every 4.
DeleteAlso Christine seems to have dropped the hysterical teenager giggles that made her look so silly and annoying last season. We even wondered if she was drunk or on some sort of medication (or that maybe she should be haha). Hope she really did change that, and that it's not just the TLC editing room.
DeleteIf memory serves right, Meri had a talking head with the film crew about her "conflict" about wanting to leave. *before* the Alaskan dinner was filmed. Why else would she agree to tell her family she may leave ON CAMERA??? When that aired my first thought was who would do that on film unless there was a story line being developed via production for the show.
ReplyDeleteNo doubts at all that Meri did fall prey to a catfish and by a particularity creative catfisher.
However, she was in with both feet and was playing the coquette willingly despite no return from her cyber lover in pics, facetime or physical meetings. She became afraid only after she had sent all the VM's and pics, and only after others were pointing out the fraud to her. (and of course by then Sly Sobbin already knew too and was the spider in the corner).
One point that was strongly made in the special on catfishing was that it is quite easy now to fact-check anyone through various apps and sites...that should anyone suspect a lack of veracity in a cyber relationship, there are numerous ways to check given details.
Also the point was emphasized that many people are so infatuated that they "want" to believe it all and forgo any scrutiny actions. Meri is a classic example of such a reckless mindset.
Plus.......let's not forget the new PR bump the show has now received via that special.
People who never heard of SisterWives now heard about how a woman legally married to a guy with a harem was divorced by the guy so he could legally marry wife # 4. And....the catfished woman is still *spiritually married* and still living in the harem.
And.there is a TV show all about these people !! New viewers, new ratings???
*No wonder* Kody's talking head spot at the beginning of last night's epp had Kody all mushy benevolent and forgiving and wanting to move on with Meri. He is seeing a renewed contract and ratings in his delusional head. TLC is too, no doubt.
A little snark is warranted......
The producers of the Catfish Special obviously had a makeup and hair crew on board for Meri.
A team who vetoed any orange-go foundation and greasy, hanging straw hair.
Maybe Meri should learn something from that.
I have to check my notes but I'm very sure Meri had ended the relationship before the trip to Alaska. If she was contemplating leaving Kody, that had to be when she was in the throes of infatuation with a non superhero who won't be named and her ex husband spending all his time with his new legal wife. I'm thinking February to April timeframe. By May, the bloom was off the rose leading up to the late June - early July fiasco with Living with Models when Hollywood types figured out the Hero was really a Zero when "he" didn't make good on his money pledge.
DeleteDid Hunter get into the actual air force academy? Janelle tweeted that she was going to his prep school graduation
ReplyDeleteHunter was admitted into the AF Academy PREP School not the Academy. Presumably if he has done well, as well as how much the Academy needs a state wrestling champ in their wrestling team, he will be admitted to the Academy.
DeleteI had the feeling that the producers were going for humor with the silly music and trying to make Kodouche look like Clark Griswold hanging tangled lights in the dark. Janelle is so lazy, I mean disengaged. When Christine was babbling about how shocked and worried the wives would be to see Kodouche balancing on the ladder top, she only mentioned Robyn and Jangle, no mention of Meri. Does that mean if she had the chance she would tip the ladder over?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if Christine was hoping the ladder would fall over or that Kody might get blown down? After the way Kody has treated Christine I don't think it is the wise choice to trust her with holding his ladder.
DeleteVery telling that Christine left out Meri's name when a few years ago Meri would have been the most concerned about her "lovers" safety. Me thinks Meri is done and all the other wives know it.
I'm disappointed to read the Meri-hate on here today.
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember, this is a family where the husband says jealousy is the fault of the wife and she must deal with it on her own and not trouble the husband.
But then, a young, pretty, fertile wife comes onto the scene and proves to be exactly what they've never been- a focal point for their husband.
Then the divorce.
Notice at the dinner when Meri says she might leave, Robyn says "well just tell us where you're at". There's no love lost when a wife leaves and it's "her" fault.
So to have voicemails that show that Meri is telling this online man that she loves him and wants to be with him-- are you surprised? She's been with the same man for 20+ years and his head was easily turned by one woman. She was dumped and trapped, so she fell for the first bit of attention given to her.
I don't blame her, and there's absolutely no proof to show that IF "batboy" had turned out to be a real person that would have left the family.
Stop shaming her for being a woman with needs both emotional and physical that are not being met.
The "Meri-hate" is about her inability to be honest about the situation. And as far as proof about leaving the family- she said at the family dinner in Alaska she was probably leaving the family. She talked about it in therapy with the family before going to Alaska. She certainly wasn't going to go out on her own, she was going to leave to be with Sam.
DeleteI would imagine that conversation would go something like "I've fallen in love with someone and am starting a new life with him".
DeleteNot "Don't be surprised if I am just up and gone someday".
She looked very distraught at that dinner table. A woman leaving her family behind and giddy in love would appear very different, IMHO.
NotTakingtheBait,
DeleteWith due respect to your opinion and post, the "Meri-hate" that you mention may be more a case of a clear observation of poor and careless choices.
Meri is a key face on a six year Reality show, a show that has had prominent media coverage long before the catfishing. She is hardly an unknown, ditto for her family, and definitely her daughter. This "reality" should have been a major factor in any decision she made to dabble in a faceless online relationship with a would-be lover.
No question, the plyg setup is hell for the women, no matter how much Meri contends that it makes them better. Jealousy is clearly rampant and toxic. But they all "know" this.
The wives, legal or pretend, enable that hellish life by not only living the lifestyle, but also by having a show where they pretend it is all good and wonderful...when what they show on film is anything but validation of good and wonderful.
Is the show "the scam"....are they really happy and simply laughing at the scam they film??Are all the tears and fears and problems all fake??
jmo....
If Meri was that conflicted and in need of comfort and attention, and no doubt she was, why not call their therapist and book a private session or two.....away from any cameras ??
No one would blame her or question her motives, her credibility or her intelligence.
I don't think it is Meri-hate. The Browns, including Meri, put themselves out there for money.
And that money has its own price tag. There will be scrutiny. People are calling it for what they are shown. And what they see is mash up of conflicting statements and timelines.
And unfortunately, it is courtesy of the Browns themselves.
NotTakingtheBait...are we watching the same show? Robyn the young pretty fertile new wife????? Please. Robyn is not young and she is not pretty. She is nearing that age where babybellybumps will stop...her fertile days, like the others, are nearing an end. Plus, she is, of all the wives, the least attractive. The only thing she has going for her, if you can say that, is she isn't obese...but she's fat. Not that there's anything wrong with being either but hot she is not.
DeleteCalm down @runKodyrun. I was referring to when he began "courting" Robyn. That's when this all started. Yes, she was way younger, thinner, prettier than all the wives then. Sorry, truth.
DeleteBeauty is in the eye of the beholder, NotTakingtheBait. I'll give you "young" and "fertile" but definitely not "pretty."
DeleteI don't think it's necessarily "meri-hate". I think most people sympathize with the plight of these women (even though the willingly chose this lifestyle). I think the "hate" comes from her dishonesty about the whole situation, and painting herself as a blames less victim, when she clearly was not.
DeleteSorry for the typos. Dumb phone.
DeleteMy 2 cents? I think people aren't really mad at Meri because she had wandering eyes; people are mad at Meri because she is still there. At least I sorta am... if Meri had run off with someone new to be monogamous and succeeded, she would probably be more popular. Even if she'd gotten cat fished and still decided to leave, I bet a lot of people would be behind her 100% and wanting her to be happy.
DeleteI think a lot of people are bashing her not because she got 'fished, but because she clearly feels unhappy and yet still stayed. She knows she's miserable, and yet is still opting to be a public face for polygamy. That's why she takes heat, I think.
@ Sister Limes 5:46pm, I agree with you, with one addition: people are also mad at Meri because she won't own her part in what happened. People who boldface lie while simultaneously playing the victim card, regardless of the circumstances, are generally viewed as loathsome. If she owned what she did and bravely stepped out on her own, I would support her wholeheartedly.
DeleteMeri brought Robyn in to torture Christine and it back fired. I feel no sympathy for Meri at all. I don't want bad things for her, but I don't feel sorry for her at all, she did it to herself
DeleteOMG, JANELLE!!! She is driving me crazy and I'm only just past the first commercial break! She wants to do something with Meri, so she picks decorating. She tells us she sucks at it, that Meri is great at it, then complains that Meri is taking charge and it is getting away from her (Janelle). But then she again says that she doesn't even know how to make 1 napkin ring, let alone 70 of them. But she doesn't want to go back into her old pattern of just taking orders.
ReplyDeleteHere's an idea...PICK SOMETHING YOU ARE GOOD AT TO DO TOGETHER!!! OMG, seriously, teach Meri how to file the taxes or something. Show her how to pay her bills. Take something you are good at, grab Meri, and tell her, "I want to do this together and practice taking charge like you. Can you help me?" Gosh, how hard is it?
And another thing...all those rooms and you choose to bunk 2 kids together. Those HUGE. McMANSIONS. and. you. put. 2. kids. together.
DeleteAnd Kody not getting a huge response about the lights? Dude, it's a boy coming home, not a daughter. Sorry to get all stereotypical, but their wrestling champ son is coming home. Why would he give a frick about lights?
I just can't...
Last one...For the preview for next week - WHY would you take another wife's small child with you to Utah??? How old is he? Not kindergarten age yet...Especially if you are going to go and visit your only child who is having issues with your relationship (due to catfishing). Does she want a distraction? A shield? WTH????
DeleteThis just shows the premise that the kids are kids of all the mothers is carp. And Meri can give up legal rights because the kids are hers too-but not really? Is Robyn still nursing him? Is he not going to see Mariah his sister? It probably is frosty in the Cult de sac for Meri.No wonder she wants to getaway. I guess Mri is only good for next door babysitter
DeleteKody only knows how to do lights ,burn steaks and almost kill a child, and emotionally abuse women. He has a small repertoire . The women do flash dances minus -Janelle.
DeleteMy ultimate takeaway from this epp was Kody-idiot looking all self-important and Oz-like proclaiming...."Thanksgiving is a VERY important "American" holiday !!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.....you would have to search far and wide to find a guy with knowledge like that.
I do not think it is "Meri-hate"... its simply questioning her intelligence ". You CANNOT be in the public eye(refuse to call them celebrities) telling everyone how wonderful polygamy is and then do something so incredible stupid as have an "online affair". Then instead of manning up suddenly it's all about her being afraid and she was threatened. Was she catfished, yes, did she put herself in harms way, yes! Is she taking responsibility for it,no! The only good thing coming out of this is that Christine has risen from the bottom of the pack. I think thats why she's so happy lately and spending time with Kody(shudder...thats hardly a prize). Mari is being punished..you know that whole Kody being mad at me scene?? Kody is probably pissed that Meri was ready to break their spiritual vows and their TLC contract by leaving. They need to realize that they show the the ugly of polygamy.
ReplyDeleteI have no doubts that Kody is livid, 100% pissed off at Meri behind the scenes. he may be keeping sweet for the cameras and supporting Meri publicly but can you imagine how furious he is that his first wife was going talking with who she thought was another man, sending him banana pictures and spilling secrets?
DeleteWe all know Meri would have left if Sham had been real and I think even Kody and the Sisterwives know too. Mariah definitely knows. Kody and Meri are playing sweet to each other while the show is still on, but I would pay to be a fly on their mcmansion walls. I wonder if Meri is groveling to get back in Kody's good graces or if Kody had a wake up call and is trying harder to keep her around, or if what I personally think Kody and Meri are avoiding each other and just see each other for family functions and the show?
Anyway, I think Kody is back to a 3 night rotation with Meri cut out....
A one night rotation with Robyn being the McMansion of choice is more realistic.
DeleteI'm having all kinds of issues with the timeline of these events! They made it seem that Hunter had been away FOREVER yet he was just in the episode where Janelle and Kody were talking to Gabe about joining the National Guard, so when was that filmed? Wasn't it the same episode that Maddie left for Montana in and if so, why no big love (see what I did there?) for her return???
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm confused too. Hunter's hair was long too. How long had he been home to be able to grow hair to that length - after being in the Air Force Prep School? Also, Gabe said he was joining the National Guard, but when they came home from signing up they said the army?
DeleteThe National Guard is a part/branch of the Army
DeleteI'm one who stopped watching a few seasons ago but follows the snake-worthy nonsense here and on PTV. I've also worked with domestic violence and sexual assault victims, so I tread lightly where victimization of any kind may be a factor. I understand the trauma that catfishing can be for those caught in the trap. That said, I remember reading several of her tweets - some very public flirtations with the bat-brain - and thinking she was playing pretty fast and loose for a legally married woman in the public eye.
ReplyDeleteI admit that I have a hard time balancing her dual role as both legitimate victim and a willing participant in a betrayal of the family she claims to love so much.
Or "snark" - though there may be one or two snakes in this family. ;)
DeleteYeah, I feel sorry for Meri and think she got in waaay over her head, but I remember reading the tweets in live time and it seems like Meri was really enjoying the attention at the time and now she's trying to deny that she wanted a relationship with Sham at one point.
DeleteFood for thought: I wonder if Janelle's issues with the decor is really about decor... Or is it about something else?.. I find it hard to believe. I've never met an adult who reacted that way.
ReplyDeleteOn another note I am over here laughing bc Janelles name was auto corrected to Jangle for the first time for me today.
Is it just me or is watching mundane activities like preparing dinner and setting the table boring? No one lines up at my house to see this as entertainment. The highlight of holidays is not arguing either.I don't need to hear others petty bickering .And no in our boring monogamous house there is no second ,third and fourth wife to give their two cents. What a yawn fest. I think not only is Aspyn moving in to distance herself from Christine and Meri in preparation for marriage, I think they are setting us up for Meri giving up her house. Just like the adoption was a set up to justify the divorce.Seeing Aspyn and Mariah abandon their mothers pains me.It reminds me of those FLDS kids singing about Daddy being so great. The women teach the kids the Dad's are on a pedestal. Later they turn against the Mom's to be on Dad's side. Now maybe we have a bit of insight into why women do not leave. They can not win for losing.
ReplyDeleteThe most curious part of this episode for me was on the night Hunter came home and Kody tried to make a big deal about the lights in the cuddle-sac. What was the deal with Gwendolyn's outfit?
DeleteMy guess was that it was for a school spirit day. My daughter had to "dress like a nerd," when she was about that age.
DeleteA few thoughts:
DeleteFirst, if this really were treated as a documentary, showing the everyday lives of a culture we don't normally get to see, like "Polygamy USA," the mundane might be interesting.
Second, That would be interesting if the cameras were following people who have LIVES and following them as they live them - not boring, lazy dopes whose sole existence is to keep the TLC gravy train running.
Third, we wouldn't need seven seasons to get a decent idea of how that culture functions.
Anon:9:17,
DeleteAbsolutely SPOT ON... on all three counts !!!
Anon 5:13 pm said "Is it just me or is watching mundane activities like preparing dinner and setting the table boring"? Exactly! This episode rates right up there among some of the most boring SW episodes I've seen. I admit I still watch this ridiculously scripted yawn fest but it has to be recorded in order to FF through all of the repeat footage. I have to wonder if my life is so boring that I would willingly give away some of my precious time to sit through this garbage. I suppose it IS entertainment as far as providing material for us to snark about. I don't care about any of these people. Not like I used to. They bore me. I can't remember even one "reality" show that has kept my interest once they started to get too far off-track with scripted nonsensical scenarios.
ReplyDeleteWhen SW first came out the premise was something entirely different than anything I had ever seen on TV. How long has it been? Six years ago? I can't believe how much this show has gone downhill and how it can maintain high enough ratings to still be lucrative.
If I could ask the Brown adults one question it would be "is the money really worth it"? How has putting their lives out there for public scrutiny effected their children? Especially the younger ones. I suspect the answer would be that the pros outweigh the cons. In my opinion that pound of flesh is too high a price to pay.
So, I watched. I'm sure Meri can be mean, but I get why she gets impatient with Janelle. I am more of the mindset of if you have a job to do, do it. Janelle ponders over every tiny detail. WHO CARES!!! Put some silk flowers in a can and move on. That tiny little bit of insight let me see how they had such a horrible start. They were both young and super immature (still are) and trying to play house with the same husband. Hmmmm, takes years of therapy to figure out the problem there.
ReplyDeletePretty much. And they've been very open about Meri being a neat freak and Janelle being more of a slob, some of their big fights were about leaving dishes in the sink to clean the next day etc. I love my husband to pieces, but our biggest fights have been about cleaning and why it's not okay to leave a mess to clean up for later (I'm the clean one). I can only imagine how ugly the fights can get when it's with your sisterwife that you didn't really want.
DeleteAlso, we've all seen how messy Janelle's house can get, I side with Meri on that.
You know, I read their book (it was on Amazon for like, $2) and I was surprised by the fact that after I read it Janelle was my least favorite. She came across as having zero understanding of her or anyone else's emotions, and was just completely detached. For whatever reason she decided she wanted Kody, pursued him, and then seemed completely dumbfounded that Meri didn't enthusiastically embrace her brother's ex-wife as her husband's new girlfriend. The clash between those two personality types combined with Janelle being super fertile right away made me much more sympathetic to Meri than I was before.
DeleteYou figure....looking back (and an outsider looking in at the whole picture)...Kody and Janelle weren't' raised in a polygamous life. They were both recent converts, so neither had ANY skills at how things were to work out.
DeleteMeri was mostly raised in polygamy, so she would have seen for herself the ins and outs of the emotional roller coaster it is for the women. However, if we look at Mariah and see her as a mini Meri (which I suspect she is) we can look back and think that Meri was probably just as emotionally over the top and outspoken as Mariah is now. So put together an opinionated, outspoken bully personality that is Meri (coupled with intense space issues and jealousy) with emotionally stunted, borderline checked out Janelle with a man who could care less about any womans emotion and only cares about his needs being met and "just having fun!!" and it spells a real mess. They might go on and on about how Meri and Janelle have an issue to this day....but guess what is missing in this whole storyline!? There was a MAN involved front and center who takes NO responsibility for the role HE played in their issues either!!
None of them had real skills, and with Janelle being a recent convert she was probably filled with the thoughts that "it all just works out because we are doing this for our God" and was most likely shocked when real life emotion slapped her in the face. After this last episode it is right out there. Janelle has absolutely no idea how to articulate her own feelings, I'm starting to think she doesn't even know how to process her own feelings. She is so shocked when she realizes that she actually FEELS anything!!??
If those two really want to connect they need to BOTH get out of their everyday space. They need to go on a long weekend camping trip and just spend time together, no cameras, no phones...far out of their world and away from everyone else and especially away from those "therapists". Put their feelings and thoughts out there and just move forward with a working relationship. In a family like theirs its like the Office rule. We don't have to like each other, we just have to get along to get the job done.
"...and with Janelle being a recent convert she was probably filled with the thoughts that "it all just works out because we are doing this for our God" "
DeleteNope, can't ever buy into the concept that Janelle-Jangle found God, plyg version, and joined the faith. And then it "just happened" that she fell in love with the Idiot.
At some point before or after her divorce from Meri's brother, Janelle went bonkers hot for Kody...her brother-in-law by marriage.
She had socialized with Meri and Kody and apparently even casually knew Meri before Meri married Kody. She knew Kody's bent for having a harem.
Somewhere down that road, Jangle decided she wanted Kody, married to Meri or not. So claiming to be a budding convert to the Plyg faith would have been expected and required. Jangle is so low energy, so compliant, Kody must have known she would be an easy, willing participant for his harem. Another woman lusting for him.....a narcissist's dream.
This whole nonsense of the Meri/ Jangle (and yes, spell check will change Janelle to Jangle and it's still funny) personality dilemma is really getting old.
ReplyDeleteMeri is a controller, Jangle is an escapist. The twain shall never meet. End of story !!!
What is infuriating and tiresome is that TLC is so obviously out of gas for new plots, they foist these idiotic, recycled plots as "a show.". Given that they are fresh out any legitimate ideas that will engage the remaining viewers, they insist on resurrecting this ridiculous story line which was already pitched last season. It didn't fly last season and it won't now.
Then they use the absurd redo of KodyBoy (yes, he is a man-child) *again* stringing lights.
Not just again stringing the stupid cables and lights, but giving him viewer-exhausting face-time to explain how it is done...as if viewers cannot visualize the mechanics of simply stringing cables with lights placed on them. Unbelievably insulting to any viewer, snarkers included !!!
And Christine, we get that you are thrilled to finally have a film spot with yourself and the Idiot, but honestly, it was beyond stupid and annoying. But at least when this epp was filmed last year, glad that between your meds and Sobbin being out of commission for bed duty, your life looked like it was better.
Then....TLC is so desperate to fill that hour, they have Sobbin and the Idiot cajoling a toddler to like his new bi-colored, bisected room. Seriously, I want to believe that even Sobbin was embarrassed to film that drivel. Was Kody? Not a chance...doubt that he ever refuses an opportunity to be on camera, no matter how ridiculous they all come off.
And just think, next week, we get to see the showdown between Mariah and Meri.
All I can say is that the TLC $$$ must be pretty juicy to get both of them to film whatever will be shown.
Would any mother *and daughter* want that conversation put out there for public consumption and commentary.......unless the money was THAT good???
I think it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with their belief system. If it was Iraq Meri would have been whipped publicly or stoned to death. In this circumstance it is public degradation. This will show Kody has raised Mariah to comply. The taint of Meri's actions can not be allowed to impact the girl's chances for marriage.Kody has a lot of girls. It concerns me we do not see Christine's girls. One in particular is very pretty and very whitesome looking. I fear for her.Aspyn living with Dad .The lines have been drawn .Mariah is a product of her upbringing. I hope in time she will not need rescuing from herself because after she lambasts her Mother publicly I see her going more zealous. She may back herself into a corner if she is ever in the same situation herself.Mariah has a wide stubborn streak. My Mom always warned me about that . How does that expression go"do not cut off your nose to spite your face?".Mariah often digs in and is an azz. I think Miss Mariah would have been really jealous had Mom had that baby and taken her crown. Finally I think the new baby looks like Mariah-a lot. It could have been Meri's egg she is so similar.
DeleteKody may THINK he has raised the girls in such a way to be marriage material in the polygamous world... however, none of them except Mariah seem interested in it. Mariah no longer seems interested in it - College has a way of making you think twice about things. Especially if your dorm mates tell you that you are being ridiculus. Maddie is going Christian, Logan is non-religious, the rest seem to be following. Only Robyn's girls will be raised to be polygamous. The rest of the offspring think their Dad is a doofus. I cannot imagine marrying into this family any more than I can the Duggars. You will notice Caleb and Maddie seem perfectly happy to be 16 hours away?
Delete"I think it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with their belief system."
DeleteWell, anything is possible with these people. However, if this is Kody's idea, and for the reasons you suggest, not sure TLC would go along with it unless it was TLC's agenda and mandate.
Several seasons ago one of them said that they have little control over what is shown.
And I do believe that they don't. Once they go along with this faux plot, or that goofy story, it is pretty much out of their hands just what makes the final editing cut.
In theory, it is their show, but in reality they are paid performers. Performers who are told when and what and how......for those paychecks, for those McMansions.
...the TLC $$$ must be pretty juicy to get both of them to film whatever will be shown.
DeleteI think they are desparate for money, particularly Robyn who must maintain that super polygamous mom facade to dazzle her 2 friends with.
Heavens but this was the most boring SW episode EVER. Like many have pointed out – do we really need an entire show about setting a table and stringing lights? There is no meat left to this program; It’s all skin and bones. Meri strikes me as a bossy bitchy bully. Janelle? She’s unbelievably lazy when it comes to assessing her emotions. It’s so hard for her to muck through them that she’d rather give up than try. So she’s distant and she turns off and tunes out, and all that lame crap. GROW UP, Janelle. You’re a woman. Figure out how you freakin’ feel and speak your mind! Meri, the human steam-roller, sure as hell isn’t going to wait for you to formulate your thoughts. Keep in mind that sometimes two people just aren’t meant to be friends. Maybe you should accept your working sw relationship and move on.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! I don't understand the need to forge a deeper relationship when the one they have works. Not everyone in this world is meant to be friends with everyone else, particularly two women who sleep with the same man. If it weren't for TLC $$$ their relationship would continue to work as coexisting concubines.
DeleteYou're so right! This whole rubbish about them trying to forge some deeper "connection" must have to do with inventing new story-lines. And isn't it funny how from the outside it's clear that these women are just a gaggle of glorified concubines? To themselves they appear as holier-than-thou self-righteous women of god. Spare me.
DeleteThis show is just driving itself into the ground with the most boring of storylines, yawn yawn yawn. We've seen the lights before, the kids have seen them so why are they going to act surprised ? I'd just suggest they leave them up permanently so we don't have to go through this tedious trivia all over again anytime soon. TLC just stop glossing over the real turmoil in this family with decorations and fancy lights, we want to know what's really going on...... eg does Kody still sleep with anyone other than Mommie Dearest?(doubt it). Unless they're prepared to dig deep with this show then it has no future, perhaps Kody could end up stringing lights as a career..... there's plenty in Vegas !
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the health implications to the wives of having a husband with multiple partners for decades? Surely it cannot be healthy from an ob-gyn perspective--especially the possibility of passing stds/infections/general germs/bacteria to unborn babies. Meri was bent on cheating on Kody. I wonder if any one the wives have a say in Kody cutting her off, if he had not done so already. They don't consider themselves polyamorous and say they don't "get weird" but why all the talk about swapping spit and hormones from Kody to the kids. Reproductive health is important and with how shy they are about PDA I find this life style truly literally and figuratively unhealthy. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Meri has been cut off even before the divorce. She's a lonely woman seeking love, romance & fulfillment. She's never gonna get that living in the cul de sac & staying spiritually married to Kodouche. You can claim to be all sorts of spiritually marriied, but come on now!? Is that really satisfying her sexual needs & desires? And Kody could care less about the other 3 not getting their needs met, as long as Robyn is keeping their honeymoon phase alive...lol
DeleteAlso, we all know that Kody likes to pick & choose parts of their religion to fit the agenda of the church of Kody. I'm sure he's just having sex w/ Robyn so he can procreate(God help them if she pops out anymore lil kodys.
It's not even a matter of cheating. Given the sex abuse statistics and the remarrying going on among them it's just not healthy to have so many direct and indirect partners. We know it happened to some of the Brady family. Kody, Janelle, Meri, Christine, Robyn, David, Janelle's first husband. Kody thinks he is the professor of sex ed but with that hormone spit swapping talk he gave his daughter it's clear science is not his strength.
Delete(Original commenter here) kms: wow, you're right. I had forgotten about the previous marriage. How long had she been divorced from her ex before marrying Kody?
DeleteCaramel Brownie: I had not really thought about the perspective of Meri's needs not being met in that way. I think Janelle has joked in the past about how awesome polygamy is bc you can let the other wife be the one Kody climbs on top of... But sexual intimacy is pretty much impossible for Kody to genuinely have with each wife, let alone successfully parent and have an individual relationship with over 15 children. It's a full time job alone and leaves no time for a real out of the house job. Which is why this TV show was their cash cow. Too bad he still spends all his time with Robyn and her kids from a previous marriage...
There is divorce in most of these unions. The dargers the sister wasn't originally a wife. She stayed with them after splitting with her prior spouse and fell in love with the sisters husband. Janelle and Robyn both were married. Who knows who all were married to them or with them before. Sadly for the Brady's at least one wife spoke of being abused earlier in life. With the stats of 1 in 4 women by age 18 being victim of abuse really the potential health issues go beyond a group of 3-4 people being exclusive to one another. It's not only cause of past choices or failed relationships. Health issues are not deserved period. The other issue is their conditions because of being in a closed society. Kody and Janelle are the best at bringing someonething new to the gene pool, except their ancestors were likely shared with the spin off sects anyway. I know there is no first degree relations but look at the trouble the Amish have by only marrying other Amish from similar geographic areas.
DeleteThe hygiene ick factor of routinely sharing a man sexually has been brought up occasionally for all the years this blog and the original one have existed. When Sobbin joined the harem and it was quite apparent that she has a herpes pattern, it was especially discussed.
ReplyDeleteIf the Brown women have concerns, or their OB-GYNs do, it has never been even hinted at in any episode. And frankly, it cannot just be about confidence that Kody is only having sex with them exclusively. Janelle joined the family after a sexual past with her first husband, as did Sobbin.
So either or both of them could have brought any kind of new "ick" to the table (bed).
Plus, as you said, what about the normal gyno stuff we women may have to deal with from time to time....deal with and would not want to share it or contract it from someone else.
Have no idea how this topic is handled in the plyg world, if it is at all.
But it sure is yet another blazing deterrent against plyglife.
Janelle was previously married to Meri's brother and now they share a husband. ew. All the inter-family germ swapping is truly disgusting. *Shiver* Janelle plays it off like no big deal... But it really is. Is Robyn's husband related to the Browns? lol (I hope not). For people who are so "pure" with their thermal-under-tank-top fashion they sure do get around! Wow!
DeleteAmused, I'm embarrassed to say I have been reading these comments about the adults sharing germs thinking only about STIs, never considered normal gyno stuff, like a yeast infection. It's not an STI but good lord that is a level of sharing I want nothing to do with!
DeleteI think Robyn's ex and Christine are 1st cousins.
DeleteIt is very common in the plyg world for close relatives to "marry" see The Principle for details of each family.
DeleteI still can't help but wonder how the invisible man and the JYD are connected.
ReplyDeleteIt's just too odd that a person shows up and befriends Robyn, makes it onto the show, becomes somewhat of a Robyn protector and agent, but turns out to be a bit shady and not so nice to the fans.
Then lo and behold, another member of this family is woo'ed and befriended by a perfect stranger and it goes terribly wrong.
And the invisible man continues to be defended by the JYD. Does anybody else think this is weird?
I can't help but think somewhere in the past these two paths have crossed and somehow they know each other. Perhaps were working together all along or maybe the JYD was once woo'ed by the invisible man too?
I'm glad you brought this up, I had the same feeling.I think Robyn and JYD (with JO being included) cooked this scheme up. Robyn probably cheered Meri on at the beginning, laughing behind her hand with JYD the whole time. When it got to the point that Meri was ready to bail, Robyn had to step in and tell her that she was being catfished. Robyn knew the show would be in jeopardy. JYD could have been trying to blackmail Robyn and that's why they cut ties, not over some tee-shirt kerfuffle.
DeleteDear Not Taking The Bait, I've quit wondering how they are connected because I don't think we will ever know for sure! What I do think is that they are cut from the same cloth. They stalk people/celebrities on line - ingratiate themselves - for who knows what purpose. In the case of Kendra, I think she loved being on an episode of the show and obviously is seeking attention and any association with these "reality stars" is a win for her. With regards to JO, her stalking/catfishing was deceptive and sinister and again - not sure what her end game was either. Attention? Blackmail for Money? Feeling important? Or maybe just downright crazy and we will never know for sure.
DeleteI think the alliance between JYD and JO came about because it must have seemed mutually beneficial to both. It kept them both in the spotlight. JYD was probably jealous that JO was receiving so much attention and she decided to join in the action!
And to Pool Queen, kerfuffle is one of my favorite words!! I bought the Butter London nail polish named Kerfuffle because I love knowing I have nail polish with that name (and luckily I did love the color!)
Hey ya'll
ReplyDeleteCan anyone explain why this polygamy show is still on the air, yet every other polygamy show was canceled pretty quickly?
The other shows were honest and raw about their pain and struggle. In spite of that I personally found Brady's family to be emotionally oppressed and hard to relate to. It was more depressing. Maybe Krazy Kody just has more light hearted antics like when he tried to clean the poop chute on the RV lol.
DeleteTwo reasons.
DeleteFirst reason is the lawsuits.
Second the amount of time spent in people magazine and similar publications.
The Brady's can be admired for staying together. They left the control but stayed with one another.
DeleteKms: Brady's family seemed to be in less denial about how hard polygamy is...but more raw and honest about their pain. They all seemed to have tears in their eyes in every episode. Kody and fam seem slightly more "main stream" although some still speak in the "keep sweet" tone.
DeletePerhaps the Browns are willing to do anything for ratings? Easier for TLC to manipulate and control without complaint.
No doubt about it, the inhabitants of Kodyworld will...and have done... ANYthing for ratings.
DeleteThey need the cash from TLC to keep those contractor-grade McMansions in the "family."
However, TLC did pull the plug on the elder Duggers when their scandal hit the media and internet. Will they finally end the Kody Show??
With the Meri mess, it looks like as long as they can keep skirting the reality of Meri's voluntary soft-core VMs and pics to the he-she lover, it appears to still be game on.
Fascinating how TLC and Meri have avoided any mention of any of that.
The parents were on the specials. The parents are profiting off speaking gigs because the Duggar name is still in the media cause of the continuation of 19 kids renamed. I really don't see them having pulled the plug for being worse than mama June. At least that little girl has a daddy who won't stand for her to be in danger. At least the kids managed to get away from the house and the offender go to prison cause people reported it. The Browns are not allowing their kids to be sexually abused.
DeleteI wish the Brown's would have used the opportunity of the publicity and TLC show to shutdown this freakin CF JO. She has gone off the rails on NBYblog. The Brown's have always made the least amount of effort and taken the least amount of advice and i think their situation with this CF is just not going away and seems to be escalating. What a mess Meri has made.
ReplyDelete
