From the looks of Kody and his Kodette's tweets, they are ready, too.
Last week they were no shows on Twitter. Who knows if they'll pick up their phones tonight to tweet sweet nothings to their quickly dwindling audience.
And it doesn't help their cause that Food Network Guy Fieri's Triple D Finale will also be telecast during prime time tonight.
Gee, what will I watch? Guy Fieri or Kody and Kompany rehashing their latest season, which was nothing more than rehashes of the previous seasons.
Hmmm....such a hard choice to make. But I bet y'all the Browns will give their full attention to...wait for it...wait for it...anything but their Reality Show!!
Before we start our own festivities tonight, let's look at some "notable" Brown tweets from this week.
Well, isn't this interesting? Not only is MSWC still doing business, someone was smart enough to advertise a Valentine's Day Sale more than two weeks in advance!
Better run and stock up on their wares now, while you still can!
HUGE VALENTINE'S DAY SALE! All products are 50% off๐ Come shop at https://t.co/mNYUt8BejG for your special Valentine! ๐ pic.twitter.com/3cmApv8ZYc— MySisterwife'sCloset (@MySisWifesClos) January 28, 2017
Meanwhile, Meri has gone into
Blessed to have an amazing friend and unofficial mentor who loves and supports me enough to… https://t.co/wcKc4TqTKc— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) January 28, 2017
Back in the cul-de-sac, Kody was busy tweeting out his views to his unsuspecting followers.
In what has come to be the quintessential Kody Brown behavior of always being a day late and a dollar short, he pledged to Papa Joe Darger that Yes, the Browns will attend a march against marriage control in Utah in about two weeks.
Wasn't the failure of the Brown's lawsuit the reason for this renewed effort by Utah polygamy activists? So, why is it Papa Joe who's spearheading this protest march and not Mr Polygamist in Vegas "I Have Four Wives" Kody Brown? Hmmmm......
Apparently while Papa Joe is the face of polygamy, Kody continues to be it's rear end. 'Nuf said.
The Brown Family will be there! We want to see the laws change. We want freedom for families. https://t.co/pA4LNh64JV— Kody Brown (@realkodybrown) January 28, 2017
Kody's next tweet is kind of sweet. On one hand, he sounds excited about the birth of his first grandchild, but he could have left off the part about the rocking chair. Now all the fans are going to start sending rocking chairs to the cul-de-sac! NOT!!
Baby is coming soon. Enjoy your date nights while you can. Oh! That reminds me....We need to go get a rocking chair! https://t.co/Tcg07NOJts— Kody Brown (@realkodybrown) January 28, 2017
Now that SCOTUS has refused to hear the Brown's lawsuit, their pro bono attorney has gone on to bigger and better things. I wonder if Turley responded to Kody's tweet?
Watching you right now! https://t.co/Gzo6g7KNss— Kody Brown (@realkodybrown) January 29, 2017
And finally, leave it to Jangle to remind everyone to watch the Sister Wives Finale tonight. Sister, if tonight's Part 2 is anything like the snooze fest Part 1, y'all are in some deep ratings you know what!!

Hi Everybody! Just a quick FYI.
Once the blog posting reaches about 200 comments, new comments will go to the next page. When you scroll all the way down to the end of the comments, you should see the words "Loading" or "Load more...". Just click on the words until they disappear! You should then see all the comments loaded.
Thank you Cynical Jinx for inviting us into your living room for another evening of snark.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!
DeleteHi Jinx. I live in Canada and today Feb. 3rd, 2017 in Bountiful, BC, Canada - The court ruled that Brandon Blackmoor and his former wife are guilty of child trafficking of a 13 year old girl for sexual purposes. This was the little girl seen marrying Warren Jeffs in that now famous photo. FYI in case you wish to follow this development.
DeleteUHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!
ReplyDeleteWhen asked what he loved about Meri in the beginning, Kody said....
"Her respect and adoration of me".........!!!!!!!!
Really did he say that! Oh lordy be no wonder their marriage is a hot mess.
DeleteThat's typical of a classic Narcissistic personality disorder.
Deleteuhhh, CJ I love this blog and I think that you are fantastic. So, it is difficult for me to correct you but the Super Bowl is next Sunday not tonight. oops.
ReplyDeleteMy bad! Actually I've never watched the Super Bowl (WHAT) so I googled it!
DeleteThanks for the FYI Missy. I've switched out the Super Bowl with what I'm watching right now, which is Guy Fieri on the Food Network. I know, but somebody's got to watch the nonsense on the Food Network, right?
Deletehey, at least Guy has better hair than Kody! And you might learn something there.
DeleteWatched ng Masterpiece & PBS instead.
DeleteI turned off Food Network for PBS to watch Victoria, but it came on an hour earlier, so I watched the series about the 6 wives of Henry the 8th. I was able to catch a later showing of Victoria thank goodness. It stars one of my favorite actors, Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne! Yummy!! The actor playing Albert not bad, either!
DeleteI love the Secrets of the Six Wives series. I keep forgetting to watch Victoria. I need find it on the PBS Website
DeleteWell, after listening to the first portion about how Meri and Kody feel about their relationship, MrSpock cannot figure why they are staying together---other than Kody mentioned his "ego" as being a reason. Why Meri stays---not sure, except maybe she cannot conceive of going it alone or making a new path.
ReplyDeleteYea Kody doesn't care about these women (except for Robyn ) he just doesn't want to look like he failed! Same with him being a dad. He wants to be worshipped and adored. I've noticed some pics of Kody and Robyn's oldest daughter is hanging all over him like she has a crush on him. Robin better watch her back !
DeleteMeri's Lularoe biz could be that new path. That stuff really sells and Meri has the bonus of being a "celeb". It's not my taste, but I know people selling the LLR line are making real money! It could really be her way out.
DeleteWould like to point out that gay marriage has only been legal in the US since 2015. A parent being surprised that their child is not who they thought they were is not unusual. This whole story line seems.... dare I say it .... "weird" to me. Mariah so mad at Merri, Merri desperately chasing her ... and bam! In your face Mom ! I'm gay!
ReplyDeletedepends on the state. There are many states where gay marriage has been legal for over ten years
DeleteSeriously...If TLC and the Browns are willing to finally and clearly state how much "truth" was manipulated about Meri and Kody from the "beginning"f the show...while meanwhile the rabid, deluded fans were believing every freaking word and scene for 8 years, what does that say about all of them and the producers??!!
ReplyDeleteAnd would this bearing of the souls even be shown tonight if they were not so desperate to stay on the air.
They even grift the truth when it suits their wallets.
And why, oh why is Sobbin the mouthpiece for the wives. The newbie, the weeper, the word slurer......why !!
SO far, Janelle simply sits beside Kody looking at him adoringly.
Christine is "Christine"...makes a few high pitch comments but then retreats for Sobbin to take over.
Kody is doing his predictable "concerned" but pissed off face and tone tonight.
I love how she talks about Nancy the "thurpist."
DeleteShe also needs a Speech Thurpist
DeleteHow many times can Meri post the tweet below?
ReplyDeleteHey all! Busy life, but I'm here for at least part of the finale tonight! Enjoy! :) #SisterWives
She really doesn't get it, and she shows her work ethic. Also, if her life is oh-so busy, why is the entire show clips and rehash - even the older children's couch clip!
WHY are they showing the older kids couch chat from just LAST week...again !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a resented waste of time !!
Nobody even thought to ask Aspyn anything about her life, even though she would be living in Robyn's house.
ReplyDeleteIf even *that* is the truth !!
DeleteMore important, she seems to be a lovely person, focused on her educational goals, while demonstrating leadership skills that her peers value. Other siblings are on their similar paths, but this young woman never seems to receive her share of the spotlight that she is earning.
DeleteAmen. It's the Duggars. The kids are invisible unless they are marrying or birthing.
DeleteI haven't watched yet, but maybe it's a good thing they don't focus on Aspyn. The spotlight never seems to help kids on reality shows.
DeleteIt's the NFL Pro Bowl and the NHL All-Star Game tonight, also Mercy Street, reruns of numerous things more interesting to watch a second and third time as opposed to the same clips a second or third or hundredth time of Sister Wives.
ReplyDeleteOf course the page hadn't updated until I posted my comment, which I see had been already corrected before my post. Blogger hates me.
DeleteBlack Sails--fourth and last season on Starz. I L_O_V_E love John Silver, and he and the 'Maroon Queen's' daughter have a very fine relationship progression.
DeleteKody's grossed out by the thought of taking Mindy (whom he identifies as his niece) as a 5th wife. But, his father married his father-in-law. He married his brother's-in-law ex-wife. His daughter married his brother's nephew. The wreath never ends.
ReplyDeleteThat should read, "But, his father married his mother-in-law." We never the fathers-in-law, of course. We only know about Robyn's stepfather's endless honeymoon marriage and Meri's father's words of wisdom to Kody.
DeleteI think Robyn and Christine are related in some way too. What's that old saying? Families that play together stay together.
DeleteChristine is some level of cousin with Robyn's ex. I'm pretty sure Kody is, too. Others on this blog know the specifics.
DeleteKody's daughter (Maddie) married his brother's (Curtis) brother-in-law (Caleb, brother to Curtis' wife Erica), not nephew.
I haven't seen Part 2, but if Kody said he's grossed out at the prospect of marrying Mindy, and previously said he was initially grossed out physically by Christine and said he initially had an "ick factor" at the idea of marrying Robyn, and is platonic with Meri and probably Janelle, I'm starting to think all the people who believe he is gay are on to something. He doesn't seem to like the women, just the part where he gets to produce a ridiculous number of his spawn.
Those are some of the most compelling reasons that make me think he is gay. I lived 15 years with an ex husband just like him who ended up being bisexual and then admitted to being gay. I feel very strongly that Kody's attraction to this lifestyle was to impress his father and "prove" to the public that he was in fact heterosexual....imho
DeleteI agree. I've noticed that Kody is always the most animated, smiley, and super happy when he's around his "guy" friends on their dates and wrestling with them on the mats. Even the verbage he uses when describing time with them like "hooking up", "guy's night out", "fan boyed" are very telling IMO.
DeleteYes, just was predictable......hour # 2 is ......
ReplyDeleteA re-done, already seen, docu-yawn of Christine ~!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
there are pictures of Tony on Mykelties instagram from over a year ago. I dont believe this whole i dont know him from christine. they exagerate everythink!!!!!
ReplyDeleteand Tony was not as fat. a year with the Browns has added pounds on him
DeleteTrust me, those two will only get fatter. They are both pretty young to be as obese as they are--especially Tony. It made me ill when he cooked for the family--all fatty large portions of beige food.
Delete" Cheating is all about convincing yourself you are innocent" A quote from Kody in the golf scene. It seems to be indicative of the drive behind polygamy. You commit adultery but pretend you are innocent because you have a higher calling.
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteKody's response to the "burning bridge" question = I'm totally over you Meri; we're neighbors.
ReplyDeleteAnd Robyn's attempt to butt-in and "help" with getting him to answer...? Yeah, super nice until the pass-vie aggressive: "Of course. You'd do it for anybody... You're a nice guy..." (Might not be the word-for-word quote, posting from memory. But it's close enough. She's such a b*tch.)
Whew ! Sobbin Brown/head wife and only true wife is "in the House" !!
DeleteShe is Kody's muse, his Jimminy Cricket, his translator, his "explainer" !!!
She does seem to specialize in "visuals"......burning bridges, stolen/smashed hearts of purity !!
Uggggh Robyn only butts in to answer for Kody so he won't look bad to the viewers . She doesn't care if Meri and Kody ever speak again. If you want to know the REAL Robyn , watch her facial expressions closely while others are speaking. She is not a good person. I'd literally pay to watch Kody marry another wife and see Robyn have to deal with the loss that she has put everyone else in the family through .!
DeleteYeah that part was a little ackward to watch. Then Janelle & Christine had to chime in w/ Robyn to help make Kody look like less of an asshat. Someone should of told Kody to fix his face b/c his scornfulness was on full display while he was struggling to find the 'polite' way to answer the question about the burning bridge.
DeletePiper7- Wouldn't it be interesting if Kody were catfished into marrying someone who just wanted to mess with him and Robyn? Of course, it would also mess up the kids even more, and we wouldn't want that.
DeleteSomeone reads your website . .. Robyn chose Sobbing as her spinoff name!!!
ReplyDeleteMERI AND SOBBIN... If your thighs don't see the gym, then they sure DON'T need to see spandex leggings..
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice how hard Robin was blinking when Kody was telling what made him fall in love with Meri? You'll never convince me that his relationship isn't over with everyone but Meri . Robin would never allow it! And Christine's constant cheerleading whenever Kody is even remotely criticized is nauseating also .
ReplyDeleteMeri and Kody will never be able to resolve their issues because there's another women involved. He can not devote himself to fixing their problems because he will always go where he feels adored and. It have to work ! He can't go on a trip with Meri to reconnect or spend every evening with her. It's a joke to think that they'll ever be whole again.
ReplyDeleteYep. He doesn't have to. They can just go. Which is why they marry more than even the celestial three. Which is why a disproportionate number of men will be absent spouses. Which is why it must never be legal.
DeleteAnother season of Kodyworld is history.
ReplyDeleteThrough the years, the "run Janelle/Christine/etc run" mantra has been tossed about by viewers as we watched Kody's behavior toward the various mothers of his children. I never was moved to join in that chorus, figuring most of what we were seeing was fake or heavily scripted.
Now the cry is for Meri to leave for all the obvious reasons.
Kody's indifference to Meri, which is clearly now blatant hostility since the catfish debacle, has been the norm and in effect since before the show even started. It was all smoke and mirrors about them...all along.
If this season provided anything new, it was hearing/seeing them officially confirm how contrived the show has been *all along.*
That admission fatally shuts down any illusion that "SW the show" has any redeemable entertainment value left to peddle.
And for sure, Sisterwives the show has blown its cover as a voice for selling the unknown, misunderstood wonders of Polygamy. They certainly have successfully shown the world exactly how it all works !!!
The message is clear and cemented. Polygamy only benefits the Master of the bedrooms. The women and children are his vehicle and accessories for self indulgence...aka "his greatness."
Absolutely....All of these women should leave Kodyworld !!!
Even good ol Sobbin has to know that she has hitched her wagon to a flawed narcissist. They all colluded in theory and desire to allow themselves to be Kody's investment capital to achieve fame and $$.
What and whom would blowhard Kody Brown be without his harem???
Without his horde of kids? The same place Jim "Blob" Dugger would be without having pimped his family.
The Brown women admit they watch the shows, and finally admit they read the blogs and boards....yet there they all are.
Will any of them leave after the show ends???
And if any of them actually got a spin-off from it, would anyone now believe it was authentic...like SW has been authentic ???
Oh Amused, how I enjoy reading what you've got to say...
DeleteSo, Basically Kody and Meri haven't gotten along since "they" married Janelle, Christine nauseates Kody, and both Janelle and Robyn had previously been in even worse relationships. Wow, is that love multiplied??
DeleteBack in Black,
DeleteDitto to you too, and everyone else in the Living Room !!
I had to comment after I finished watching the tell all part 2. Just like many of you have mentioned it's all rehashing of the same scenes etc. I hate watch the show, but I honestly have to say I felt true pity for Meri after watching the scene about the burn in bridge. How embarrassing for her and how sad. I cringed while watching the scene- he couldn't bring himself to answer yes without help from robyn. It's honestly sickening. This whole family is fake. I wont be watching next season, IF they even get another season...
ReplyDeleteI first watched the Night line segment, where Kody stated that he has only a platonic love for Meri, and Meri "hoping" that they can one day have a relationship. And when asked if they would divorce, Kody stated, I don't leave. So basically Meri has to be the one to call it off.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is look at the situation. Kody still gets romantic love from three other women. He still gets his sexual needs met, as well as his emotional.
Meri is just alone. Kody no longer spends a night at her house. He could still do that, and just sleep in a seperate bedroom, to still try and reconnect and spend platonic time together, but he chooses not to do that.
So while Kody is trying to make it seem like he is such a good guy who will not leave Meri, he already has. He has checked out of the marriage, emotionally, physcally, and spends no time with her. He really wants her to end it, so he doesn't look like the bad guy in the media.
So Meri continue living in an empty house with no romantic love, no sex, no husband spending anytime at your house. I don't pity you, if you choose to stay and put up with that.
Agreed! Kody is completely done w/ Meri. If we can all see it, I know she sees it too! She can't continue to get on TV & expect folks to feel sorry for her since she's continuing to stay. She controls her own destiny & happiness. I think she's only staying now to continue getting a piece of the TLC pie.
DeleteAccording to Sobbin', It was Meri's destiny that they all shoulda been together from the start... The creepy family portrait proved it!
DeleteBut she has the wet bar!! LOL
DeleteProbably the most revealing and painfully sad piece of tape to see from Part 2 was when the moderator asked Meri how she felt about Kody's answer to the burning bridge scenario. It was the most pointed and "honest" response to ever come from Meri's lips. She didn't waver and work on thinking up a halting answer.
ReplyDeleteNope...instead, she said, "which answer...?"
A very honest response it was since when the moderator posed the question to Kody he refused to answer, and instead went into a riff about BS complications. However, when Sobbin saw that he was waffling, she quickly swooped in and asked him the same thing and re-framed it so that as she put words in his mouth, all he had to do was agree. Literally, Sobbin rescued him from being filmed and documented for being the miserably cruel jackass that he is.
And Meri damn well knew it..which is why she sadly said, "which answer?"
Why should Mariah respect Meri? Her own Dad wouldn't even save her off of a burning bridge. Just kidding . Mariah is being Mariah... she's always been pissy. That clip they showed a few weeks ago when they pretended on of the bits list his drivers license... she list her mind. I imagine that Meri and Mariah both gave that in common. Or the time Meri yelled at one of the kids for showing her arms in a tank top . I think amongst the children Meri was the least favorite and all the kids probably avoided her and Mariah for being moody and entitled whole everyone else was suffering and wearing hand me downs and sharing a room w 7 other siblings .?
ReplyDeleteSorry about all the typos . My phone has been auto correcting to words I don't want. I wish there was a way to edit my post .!
DeleteYeah a few times in seasons past the other kids have made some sly statements about Mariah. I couldn't tell you the episode, but I remember at least twice where they made subtle comments about how annoying Mariah is.
DeleteThe legal complication with Kody & Meri is that they own that house together---at least there has been no indication otherwise. Of course, either could sell out to the other. MrSpock agrees that Kody/Meri as a "couple" has bitten the dust and there is nothing to make one believe things will change for the better--no matter how hard they "work" on it. These folks are always allegedly "working" on something in their relationships. Apparently, their "hard" work never pays off.
ReplyDeleteMrSpock has never accepted the idea that marriage, in general, requires a lot of "hard work." Either the couple is concerned about each other's well-being and happiness or they aren't. Same goes for friendships, etc.
MrSpock, Ms RunKodyRun agrees wholeheartedly with your assessment of the idea that marriage doesn't require a lot of hard work. In fact, before I married the Mr., I did a lot of hard working on survival and issues related to being alone and then we married and while life hasn't always been easy, it's been better now that we have each other to get through those hard life's lessons. I would like to add that relationships with my best friends and not so best friends are not that complicated either. I don't understand why the Browns, if their life is so great, must go to therapy to work on relationships with each other, with him, and with who ever the hell else happens to be in their fractured lives. I really feel sorry for them.
DeleteIf we define "hard work" as being attentive to one's spouse, putting their needs and desires ahead of one's own, and actively working to demonstrate an ongoing emotional commitment and a true concern for the other's well-being, than I do have to say it takes "hard work" to make a marriage (or any relationship) successful. Therein lies the tragic flaw of polygamy: the lack of reciprocity between spouses. The women have to do the "hard work", sucking up their own needs and desires in order to maintain their bona fides with their husband. Similarly, each woman is in a friendly fire fight with her sister wives, navigating a complex environment where there is no single aspect of family life in which any one of them is anyone's first and greatest priority. "I love my sister wives, and I love all of our children, but I'll be pissed off if Wife #2 gets the new transmission for her car before I get the replacement refrigerator. I have twice the number of children she has so I have contributed more to building this family; as such, my current needs should override hers". Meanwhile, the "priesthood head" gets stroked by as women as he would like, contributing little more than DNA to the family's ongoing growth and enrichment and perpetuating an insecure vibe among the wives and children.
DeleteIn my mind, the hardest work within a polygamist family would be keeping myself from beating the snot out of the husband unit, taking my kids, and getting the hell out of Dodge.
Got2bdrc that is the most clear cut insightful post I have seen in awhile. NAILED IT
DeleteSo very true, and that is why polygamy in itself is emotional abuse.
DeleteCJ, I LIVE for your captions each week...Especially the Meri ones. #Justsaying#Lessonlearned
ReplyDeleteThey are so funny! Also..Thank you for the only way for me to really see the tweets all in one place too. I know the show sucks..but this site is still top of my list of places to stop in and catch up!!
Robyn said Sobbin'Robyn!!! I wanted Jangle to say Jangle!!!
Thank you, kimbagirl!
DeleteThere is something that has been nagging at me. I want to know more about Christine's father. I know that she is "polygamy royalty." However, her mother is separated/divorced from him. During the "All about Christine" I saw again the panel discussion with her Aunt Kristen. Christine said something along the lines of "your husband was never very nice." So what about Christine's dad? Why did Annie leave? I believe Christine when she says she was raised in fear of monogamists. I think she truly has a deep seated fear that their family will be torn asunder. Why oh Why would she visit this lifestyle on her children? What was Christine's life like?
ReplyDeleteIn the "Tell All, part 2"
ReplyDeleteChristine looking at Kody - "Can you just give your super awesome response of: You know what, I love these wives and I going to focus all of my attention on these beautiful magical wives..."
Kody scowling the whole times says -"Christine, this is not a scripted show. Why are you scripting this?!"
So telling of their love... OUCH!
another example of these adults using the cameras to manage their relationships.
DeleteChristine needs to stop romanticizing polygamy! It doesn't work and the women are miserable! Kody is only nice to her now that she kisses Robyn's butt! She's obviously upped her meds so she won't be sad anymore!
DeleteC. J. if this does not belong here please delete.
ReplyDeleteUpdate on the prosecution of the FLDS on the Arizona border for financial fraud. http://www.sltrib.com/news/4840093-155/prosecutors-say-jury-instructions-changed-the
I don't watch their show anymore but saw their into one day and I am shocked that they use they same intro! They have pretty much dis-spelled everything that each one of them say, so how do they let that continue and keep a straight face?? It's almost laughable................I take that back.....it is straight up laughable!
ReplyDeleteI quit watching their show several seasons ago, but was flipping through channels the other day and noticed the intro with all them spouting why they are in a polygamous "marriage" and it made me laugh! Pretty much every single thing they each say has been proven, by them, to not be the case at all! I'd be asking to change that up to say "here is why you don't want to be in a polygamous situation!"
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wonder if production or the network is doing some passive aggressive manipulation of their show's intros. I've noticed similar contradictions on some of their other shows, too. Or, they just aren't paying attention or they just don't care enough to invest the time and money to change it?
DeleteI'm voting for too cheap to change it!!
DeleteWonder if anyone in Kody's world would have preferred having Mariah's news be a private "family" experience without the cameras making it a "show" event?
ReplyDeleteThe Family as a whole could then have issued a press statement confirming the news (before the rag mags hopped on it) and voiced their unconditional support and love for their daughter and Mariah could then have handled press requests any way she chose after that.
Wondering because now that we see how much of their comments and input about *anything* appear to be randomly subject to reversals and re-dos in the tell-alls, how "real" was any of the family's reaction even if the filmed "coming out" was actually a reenactment?
Just as Sobbin and Christine gave birth on camera so Kody could act like the birth maestro and bask in applause for a job well done for ratings, the way Mariah's news was handled suggests that it too was done expressly for the ratings.
Did anyone catch at the very end when Kody stated that "we didn't plan on Robyn" when he was asked about planning on adding another wife. He also said that "we didn't plan on Christine" just as an afterthought mumble. No one expanded on it, but I immediately thought...well...Christine sure did PLAN on YOU! I wonder if she has ever regretted that decision over the years.
ReplyDeleteI thought he quickly added the Christine comment to pacify Sobbin because Sobbin didn't look too happy when he said her name.
DeleteBut you're right, the "current" version is that Christine set her sights on Kody first. But then so did Jangle according to past Kodyworld lore.
Just wondering - why is Janelle called Jangle?
ReplyDeleteOn Google News there was an article written about the Browns. The writer apparently did not proof the article before publishing...autocorrect had changed Janelle to Jangle. I just couldn't resist using Jangle, it fits so well!
DeleteIs it safe to go on to the sister wives closet website now, or is there still a threat of catching a digital cold sore from the porn?
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering if anyone will be watching Escaping Polygamy on A&E tonight? (Tuesday January 31 at 10:00pm est).
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I find Escaping Polygamy far more interesting than Sister Wives. Even if Esc Plyg is completely staged it really is shedding light on the truth behind the Kingstons.
My answer is a bit late, but yes, I watched. It was a 'how are they doing now' episode about some of the people they've helped leave polygamy. I agree, Escaping Polygamy is very interesting and I enjoy it much more than Sister Wives. I'd like to see a discussion of Escaping Polygamy here, too if CJ would be open to it.
DeleteThis whole "burning bridge" comment. When and why do you guys think Kody said this to Meri? What do you think he meant by it when he first said it to Meri?
ReplyDeletei think it was first said by Kody when he and Meri were outside in the chairs in the clip Kody said" I'm tired of crossing a burning bridge for you" meaning i think going to bat for her with the other wives and family.
DeleteMeri threw out the "burning bridge" thing when they were sitting on the patio discussing the catfish and mariah. To me it felt like Meri bringing up the burning bridge statement from a past argument to deflect away from Kody saying "you told me to stay away". They both take digs at each other on camera, even Nancy the therapist told them to stop that.
DeleteKody loves to talk in metaphors. I see this statement as yet another metaphor he used and in the tell all they looked at it as a literal statement instead of the metaphor Kody intends it to be. That's why he was so frustrated and confused, needed Robyn to interject again and again.
I was watching an old interview of Meri, which I think was very telling. Actual quotes from Meri:
ReplyDelete"Janelle's relationship with Kody was not, although I mean they loved each other, it wasn't like romantic."
"With Christine I perceived as much more romantical (then Janelle's) and he cared about her much more so I felt threatned."
Just wow. Meri talking about how Kody cared more for Christine then Janelle was a pretty awful thing to say. And she kept saying she was threatened at all by Janelle and her relationship basically because Kody loved her more. The more I hear Meri talk, the more I really dislike her.
In this interview she has a really negative opinion of Kody's feelings for Janelle.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UKm_5-gVkY
Wow, I think you might be on to something. And of course... Janelle doesn't argue the fact. Interesting how much more confidence Meri had back then . She's like a whole other person since she's no longer the legal wife.
DeleteI think Meri is just re-writing history again. She did not want to admit that she was jealous of Janelle, so she made it seem like she was jealous of Christine. That woman hates Janelle, and Janelle obviously isn't too fond of her. I'm not saying it is or isn't justified, but please ... Meri was jealous of Janelle. For whatever reasons ...
DeleteInteresting clip, now I wonder if Meri pushed Robin into the mix so Christine could see what is was like to be threatened by the new pretty girl and bring Christine down a notch. Anyone agree?
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting theory. If you believe Meri and Kody now, they have talked about having issues in their marriage over the last ten years. So it would make sense if they were in a bad place, Meri could have been jealous of Kody and Christine's relationship, and did want to add Robin to bring Christine down a notch. Cause boy did that really have an effect on Christine and her relationship with Kody.
DeleteThen after years of Christine's jealousy, she seemed to be getting back to a good relationship with Kody, and Robin, so Meri lashed out again, with the whole catfish thing.
I do think Meri's alliance with Robyn and her eagerness to flaunt it in front of Janelle and Christine showed she had her own selfish motives! Meri kind of got what she deserved with the whole Robyn thing.
DeleteCynical Jinx,
ReplyDeleteYou have been with the show *since day one* !!! (borrowing Sobbin's three favorite words)
After the watching this season and knowing all you do about the show, what do you think their chances are for yet another season??
Asking because TLC is putting out a lot of chatter about at least three new shows (maybe more) coming sometime this year or early next year.
Ya think The Kody Show is finally done??
Or do you think they'll have a few "special" Kody shows- Maddie and Caleb's baby, Mykelti and Tony's wedding, etc. But not a full season of one or two hour shows.
ReplyDeleteI just want specials. Please TLC, just 1 special a year.
ReplyDeleteCould Meri possibly apply more eye shadow?! The only thing I can focus on when she talks is all that eye makeup and how bad it makes her look. Just a plain orange face would be better. I imagine she would be unrecognizable without her "mask."
ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice that when Caleb and Maddie were talking about the baby, he said that he would have to be responsible now and get a job??? Are you kidding me? The family said Caleb was so great, yet now we see he appears to be a grifter. Water seeks its own level.
ReplyDeleteI thought he said something about a better job. They are probably bringing in enough from SW to support what appears to be a modest lifestyle.
DeleteWhat struck MrSpock was Caleb saying he now had two people to "worry" about. While, of course, most people have worries about family members, the idea that the first thing he thought about was that he had to "worry" about his wife---and now a child---seems problematic. What about "Now I have two people to love and care about!" That would be an entirely different mindset.
DeleteExcellent observation Mr Spock, per usual
DeleteI heard "get a job," not "get a better job." Grifter is right.
DeleteGosh....I also heard "get a better job..." but who knows with my hearing! Maybe that's what I wanted to hear?! Maybe I inserted the word "better" because I was hoping he already had a job.
DeleteYea, I've always gotten a real "douchey" vibe from Caleb. Maddie should have waited and found herself a real man. I guess she didn't have a good example of what a "real man" is like with Kodouche as her father....
ReplyDeleteAll of the daughters will jump at the first chance to get married because they are starved for a males attention .
DeleteHonestly, I kind of like Caleb.
DeleteI do not care for the Browns. Like at all. I think their children are becoming entitled since they have been on TV.
Well, from Madison's Pinterest page, this must be the name for her son: Axel James
ReplyDeleteThis was the first season that I didn't watch. The 2-hour format they started last season just put me to sleep. From what I followed here and from the commercial clips, I found Mariah's honesty with herself refreshing and brave. It made her past behavior a little more understandable to me.
ReplyDeleteI was also surprised to hear Meri and Kody admit on ABC that they no longer have romantic feelings for each other. That was a huge admission to me. I can only assume that Meri stays in her "celestial marriage" because she continues to believe that Kody is her ticket to a higher realm of heaven.
As for the future...if the show gets picked up for another season...I am curious if others will start to open up now that the court case is dead in the water.
In Nightline's Sister Wives clip last week (thanks again to WhyNotBrotherHusbands for mentioning or many of us would have missed that little gem - where Kody says he does not love Meri anymore but he will not leave her) anyway--Nightline introduced the segment proclaiming Sister Wives as "TLC's Hit TV Show." That might be a bit of hyperbole, but when you look at the viewer numbers for Sister Wives, I don't think the show is on its way out yet.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the production cost is low enough to make it profitable and TLC doesn't appear to have a high bar with regards to viewership. TLC historically looks like they don't care much if shows increase viewership each season--if they hold their own--just even stay static with numbers--they are "a hit."
My personal theory about recycling and dumping in those shows"All about Meri," "All about Janelle," etc. - along with that show looking back at highlights of their trips - was an attempt to introduce the family to new viewers. Viewers who have not been watching the last 6 years but were attracted to watch by the attention generated by the catfish scandal and the Mariah coming out storyline. It sure looked to me like they assumed they had a group of new viewers and they would capitalize on that. However, the problem with that is when I saw the clips from the 1st season the show appeared way less contrived and scripted and the family looked healthier. It made me think that I must quit watching...... and just come here for recaps!
OMG, so, if you watch the Lifetime Channel, the show Dance Moms (my guilty pleasure) did a dance a week or 2 ago about sister wives and polygamy. I just thought I would mention it here. lol I looked on youtube but no one has posted it yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat were the ratings for the season? How about in comparison to previous years?
ReplyDeleteSomewhere here someone posted how Tony is in Mykelti's Instagram a year ago so how can her mother say they don't know him a year later. I just scrolled back a year through her and Madison's Instagram accounts and it's true, there's photos of him from a year ago including one at one of the McMansions in December 2015 in a photo with Mindy and Caleb and Logan's girlfriend and other people I don't recognize and there's Tony! Revisionist History again. A year before the wedding, he was at their houses!
ReplyDeleteArk, I always think the Brown's are telling stories and bending the truth---but in this case, Christine could be telling the truth. The Hawaiian vacation was on spring break (end of March) if Mykelti informed her mom that Tony was asking for her hand in marriage this would be unsettling if December/the holidays in 2015 was the first time he made an appearance at their house. St. George is about a good 2 hours from Vegas, so the 3-4 months between Dec. when he first popped up in a picture and then to the vacation in March, he might very well have not been to the house many times.
DeleteTell me this can't be true - A new TLC show called "Brother Husbands????"
ReplyDeletehttp://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1131760/tlc-show-brother-husbands-better-than-sister-wives
Apparently this is real. TLC is hitting a new low!! When TLC debuted Sister Wives several years ago, I think many of us were so curious about this hidden lifestyle (religious cult). I didn't know before this blog and the show how many different sects and people are out there practicing polygamy. From other knowledgeable and insightful bloggers in CJ's Living Room, I have learned so much about the history and destruction to women and children by these polygamous groups in the name of their "religion". Through this show and blog, I will say I have educated myself, so maybe the show did serve some purpose. I have zero interest in being manipulated by TLC to watch a show about "Brother Husbands" which clearly is just a show based on some attention seeking individuals and does not represent any type of real sub-group in our culture.
DeleteI've seen "Brother Husbands". It's available on TLC on demand on my cable provider. Initial opinion: not impressed. This family is polyamorous, not polygamous. As I understand polyamory, it is not religion nor faith-based; it's a secular decision to have a group type relationship, in which partners might be sexual with one another regardless of gender. The spotlighted family had a woman and two men; the men have sex with the woman but not with each other. They have five children, three of whom were fathered by the third husband, and I think the first two were sired by the first husband. I get a really weird vibe from this group--it seems to me that the guys are kind of "soft". Showtime also has a show about a small number of polyamorous families called, "Polyamory: Married and Dating" (http://www.sho.com/polyamory-married-and-dating).
DeleteMy opinion: TV is becoming the 21st Century version of the freak show, displaying those with physical differences (little people, people with obesity, transgendered people), families that are different from most (polygamy, polyamory), the hyperfecund (Duggars, Bateses, Gosselins) and those who refuse to establish independent identities (Putmans). Really lowerst common denominator entertainment. If you wouldn't go to a live "freak show" because they are exploitive, you probably shouldn't watch these shows because they are equally exploitive. You know for damn sure that the networks and production companies are making profits from these shows, and while the featured "acts" are paid for their participation, they don't make nearly what their exploiters do. Just saying.
If you need a mind-numbing distraction from depressing current events... TLC Go app has unlocked episodes from S1...
ReplyDeleteOk... so Janelle is fat as ever so I don't get what the "Strive" thing is all about and what her part in it is. Caleb says that now that he's going to be a dad he has to get serious - like "get a job" - did I hear that right?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sick to death of seeing the same old crappy clips from years ago - how many times do I need to hear about the move to Las Vegas? Fake, fake and fake yet they still pretend the police were about to jail them as polygamists.
What a waste of time.
I agree! I was shocked by how much weight Janelle has gained back . After Robyn she is my least favorite. She seems so complacent and lazy and always making excuses for Codys behavior. I swear she wanted to be a sister wife so she could have someone else raise her kids and barely have to deal with a husband . The fact that she's never shown any jealousy over Kody and his time tells me that she only has platonic feelings for him.
DeleteJanelle shows incredible jealousy (although she claims it wasn't) and anger during the Robyn and Kody honeymoon episode regarding how long they were gone. 11 days I believe. She seemed so confused and befuddled over these intense feelings she was suddenly overcome with to the pointment where she didn't answer the phone when he called for 7 days. I believe she loves Kody a lot more than she is willing to admit but has to "check out" and self medicate with food because she knows that love will never be reciprocated.
DeleteAlthough I do agree she didn't want to do the hard work of raising children and keeping house and enjoyed being away letting Christine do that.
DeleteIn her own weird, sloth like way, Janelle might be the most secretly gaga over Kody. Maybe she is so closed off emotionally she never shows it? We witnessed her rare flash of anger during the Kodyn Honeymoon. I will have to say when analyzing the tell alls, etc. it is Janelle who really is the most defensive of Kody's behavior and serves as his biggest cheerleader.
DeleteThis is even the case during the live tweeting of the shows. She takes on the role of head tweeter and serves as the apologist when the family doesn't tweet during an episode. Is she the only one capable/motivated to tweet---or is it because she knows what it would do to Kody's ego and their finances if the show fails? I haven't quite figured out if TLC assigned her the role or if she took it on because the others are even lazier/and don't comprehend their complete financial reliance on the show. Regardless, it is Janelle who always comes through with the obligatory apology about why they will not be tweeting during an episode.
I wonder if anyone else noticed the last few seconds of the 'Christine Show'
ReplyDeleteOften my DVR clips the last few seconds of a show that runs a bit over. I just now happened to see the last few seconds of the 'Christine Show,' which wound up on 'Long Lost Family.' In these few seconds, the credits are scrolling along the bottom of the screen, and the back ground music increases in volume, signalling the end of the show. Christine is next to an emotionless, scowling Kody, while she delivers her prozac-inspired comment, "...I think things are on the upswing finally, and that's really nice." (while beside her, Kody looks coldly into the distance)
However, as that scene fades to darkness, yet still visible, you can see Christine's drug-induced happy face, slowly drop into a very sad expression, matching the unhappy expression of her baby-daddy sitting next to her.
This happens very quickly in "real time," but with the use of my DVR slow motion, and the ability to pause the DVR, it's easy to see her positive smile drop into a very sad expression.
Christine works SO HARD at being the positive cheerleader, but you don't have to scratch the surface very far to see a different and sad reality.
It's very interesting editing. The editors could have clipped that piece a second or two earlier, and left it on a light-hearted positive note. However, they intentionally CHOSE to make visible Christine's expression change, to an expression of sadness, thereby ending the 'Christine Show.'
When Sister Wives began on TLC, the editing was clearly in favor of the Brown's charade. But over time, editors seem to be more willing to show things as they really are.
DVR is a wonderful thing. I noticed when Maddie got married and threw the garter something happened that upset Maddie and her husband. The look on both of their faces said it all. Next you had the talking heads(Meri)saying the garter was so "very high on her thigh" it grossed her brother out when he caught it. I don't know why she even felt compelled to mention it. All I know is the look on Maddie and Caleb's faces looked like Maddie wanted to throw up as she patted Caleb's hand and Caleb looked like he wanted to take somebody's head off. I rewound and re watched several times. It's near the end of the episode. Something happened that upset the bride and groom
DeleteYes, hide the children...I watched that, but my take was it was editing. When the camera was on Caleb and Maddie it really didn't look like they were standing in the same area as the garter toss. That scene felt weird, like the worried/upset look was filmed separately and then inserted to try and make something out of the "Garrison didn't want to touch the garter" statement. Yet he was smiling and flinging it around his finger. He didn't look grossed out at that time.
DeleteHe looked happy to have caught it to me too. Meri's head interjected that he was not happy at all and mentioned the garter high on maddie's thigh. Very strange to me. I don't think Meri wants anyone to be happy, she wants them all as miserable as she is
DeleteThis all makes their involvement in the march for polygamy even more ridiculous. By their example, they actually make the best case for monogamy!
ReplyDeleteMariah is the absolute worst. The hypocrisy is nauseating! I mean, let me get this straight: she suppresses her sexual identity for YEARS, because she was raised in a religious community that frowns on homosexuality. THEN when when she springs it on Meri and Meri takes a split second to adjust her vision of Mariah's futurle--as Mariah KNEW she would (Meri was raised in the SAME COMMUNITY that frowns on homosexuality, only an entire generation EARLIER) Mariah acts like Meri is a complete and total unenlightened Idiot. The look on her face when they talk about planning Mariah's wedding makes me ill--as if the legality of gay marriage means Meri should automatically be used to the idea. Her family has fawned all over her for coming out. Mariah is just using this to hurt Meri, and she knows *everyone* will take her side in the public standoff against her mom because the *enlightened* feel they have the moral high ground.
ReplyDeleteI've watched this show from the beginning. I've read this blog for years. This is my first time commenting because it's making me crazy. I've read various points of view regarding Mariah's behavior toward Meri, but I've yet to see anyone over point out this horrifying hypocrisy and I had to say it. It's repulsive and infuriating.
I am glad you commented, I enjoyed reading your post. I think it's been hard for me to give Mariah the benefit of the doubt because her behavior has typically seemed bratty to me. Maybe it was just the editing....all I know is some of the scenes with Mariah have been so unflattering. The evening she spent in the car, sobbing outside their new homes because the other families got to move in before her..... and when Robyn announced she was having a baby and Mariah fell apart in the bathroom bawling over the news because it wasn't Meri pregnant. Unfortunately, her behavior onscreen has portrayed her as very ungracious. If she had been my kid, I would have told her to get her sh*t together! Instead, Meri seemed to encourage/tolerate this self centered behavior. In that respect, I also have a hard time feeling sorry for Meri because I think she created this monster! (this is just an expression - I am not seriously calling/suggesting this young lady is a monster)
Delete"Maybe it was just the editing.."
DeleteTrue...It could be the editing, and also perhaps scenes which were scripted for effect. Yes, exactly like the one with Meri pleading with a distraught Mariah in the car wailing because those two wouldn't move into their McMansion until "the next day"...!!. That one looked like sheer producer mischief and it was ridiculous to watch.
However, one fact that does remain in play is that Mariah agreed/chosen to have her coming out announcement filmed for the show. She certainly could have declined. No matter how delighted the producers were to toss in that plot blockbuster for ratings, Mariah also must have had an agenda in placing her parents, particularly Meri, in the spotlight for public speculation and comment. Was it deliberate revenge on Meri or was it for fame and $$?? Or both!!
We will never know just how jaded any or all of them are at this point...jaded and opportunistic for the $$ !!
Amused - thank you for articulating exactly this issue with her coming out. Mariah agreed to film it for some sort of ulterior motive--whether it was for the $$ or to watch her mom/parents squirm on camera--not sure which (maybe a little of both?!) but definitely Mariah had an agenda. Who would get pleasure out of watching their mom on cameral under that kind of pressure? A very self centered kid.
DeleteAnd let's not forget that a reason why, boo hoo, Meri and Mariah had to wait to move in was because Meri dilly dallied on the paperwork for that stupid wetbar and missed a deadline while the others did their paperwork and got their funding secured. Fries me that Meri let Mariah have a fit like they were being punished instead of fessing up that she caused the delay and no one else.
DeleteYes, indeed, Ark of Snark.....true, true!
DeleteIt's almost as if all that was aired and seen is simply lost in space, and the Browns can rewrite or forget things that were "seen" !!!
Unless, of course, all that nonsense about who got their paperwork in on time was all BS too. If anything is clear now from 2017 Tell-all Part 1& 2, much of what we saw through the seasons was fiction.
...alternative facts...polygamist style!
DeleteThank you Anon 9:32. I could not have stated what you said better myself.
DeleteI'm late to the party. Been reading everyone's snark for years, but sometimes I can't comment on my phone, which I mostly read on. I have to wait until I get to a PC.
I didn't watch any of this season. That is just how sick of them I am. I love to read what everyone else is thinking, though. Usually agrees with my own line of thought.
LOL, "alternative facts, plyg style" is one of the funniest things I've caught in a while. Thank you
DeleteDitto!! My husband wondered what I was laughing at. Loved the "alternative facts...polygamist style!"
DeleteI will be very interested to see what kind of a turnout they have for the march against "tyrannical legislation" the Darger's and the Brown's have been tweeting about. It is quite an unholy alliance between the polygamists and the LGBT community marching to keep the government out of their bedrooms. It is fascinating to me that these fundamentalist polygamous groups will align with the LGBT even when they preach against homosexuality and the extreme sects believe it is punishable by death. It really does bring new meaning to the expression "politics makes strange bedfellows."
@Big Sky, remember the first season of "Big Love"? Roman Grant is interviewed by a newspaper reporter who asks if Roman believes that same-sex couples' marriages should also be legal. Roman says that they should be, just as polygamous marriages should be legal. The next day the headline screams, "Polygamist Prophet Says They Are Just Like Gays". Strange bedfellows, indeed!
Delete@got2bdrc, I didn't have access to watch "Big Love" when the series was on and it has always been at the top of my list to start watching when I had the chance. The comments on this blog about "Big Love" always made it seem like a show I would enjoy! We just switched to directv and they have all the HBO shows available so I will start it soon!
DeleteBig Shy,
DeleteGlad you will have a chance to see Big Love!!
Since you have watched SW for many seasons, no doubt you will easily see the similarities between the two. Character personalities, and for sure, story lines and plot points.
For those of us who saw BL first, it sometimes would take a minute or two or three to see the SW mimicking when looking back at BL's many seasons. But you will likely see them right away !!
It was as if the producers had BL's playbook right in hand when creating many SW dramas.
I keep hoping that the "Mariah's Coming Out" scene was staged and that she had already talked to Meri about it. If not, I think she is very mean. I can't imagine having a moment that personal on national t.v. I am very open and have said many times that I won't care one bit if my kids are gay, but I still wouldn't want a camera in my face when I find out. Mariah expects acceptance and love, but is unwilling to try and give the same to Meri over the catfish situation. I thought that after she came "out" she would forgive Meri and move on, but nope! She has just been so spoiled and allowed to behave horribly for so long that Meri really did this to herself.
DeleteBigSky: Watch Big Love!!! You won't be disappointed! It is one of my favorite T.V. shows of all time! I actually kept my HBO subscription only for that show and quickly cancelled it once the show ended! My husband and I started watching it when it first came on and I was pregnant with our first son. We both loved it and miss it so bad!
Janelle was on Fox 5 news in Vegas promoting Strive with Janelle today. Okay I'm just going to say this, cause I don't know how to sugarcoat this. She looked bigger to me than she did ion the tell all. She was wearing a blue pantsuit, and the jacket was two sizes too small on her cause it could not come close to button close.
ReplyDeleteI am not wanting to body shame because I think woman are beautiful in all sizes but when you are promoting a weight loss program, and you are the spokesperson, people are looking at you to lose weight. Imagine if a celebrity was promoting Jenny Craig and instead of losing they gained weight.
She is still obese. I know tv adds weight but I was shocked when I saw her on there.
Haven't seen it and am surprised that Janelle would do that.
DeleteCertainly would not body shame anyone either, but still am surprised. Not so much about her doing that at her size, which arguably is interesting since Strive has been in place for several months already and she isn't showing any visible success, but also that she would venture into being a spokesperson without the cushion of just being one of the SW pack.
She surely wasn't an effective communicator on the recent season.
Between her lazy, almost indifferent presence during the run-up to the wedding and her god-awful, awkward toast at the reception, I can't imagine she is capable of coherently generating interest and energy "to sell" people on a weight loss program.
Here's the link: http://www.fox5vegas.com/clip/13087664/get-moving-janelle-brown-inspires-community
DeleteShe actually seemed animated and said a number of times that this is about "mobility." Interesting choice of words.
Isn't one of her sons fitness oriented? Her oldest? Why doesn't she ask him for help?
DeleteWatched the clip, thanks for the link Ark of Snark. I admit when the camera panned out to show her, she does look bigger. I don't think the jacket she wore helped matters it did seem small for her. Didn't she launch this company five months ago? If her program worked I would expect more of a change in her body.
DeleteIt really makes me doubt either her commitment to her own program, or the program itself? And that is the problem when a person starts a company like this. All eyes are on you to see the results. And I just don't see results that one would expect after five months.
Wouldn't it be exciting if we took Janelle's t.v. appearance as a sign the show is getting canceled?! I want to believe the only reason she is doing this Strive thing is because she sees the end is near for the series and she is grasping at straws for future income.
DeleteI agree with all my fellow bloggers that it makes little to no sense she would pick a fitness based/weight loss program. Unless she is just that stubborn and still fuming the family wouldn't back her on running a fitness center. Instead, the family threw their energy toward My Sister Wive's closet.
The only thing that does make sense about Strive, like all the other Brown ventures, it appears they want to make money on either MLM/pyramid scheme based ventures (Liv Water and Lularoe--and I'm not sure what category Janelle's doomsday food storage containers fell under) or they sell junk (My Sister Wive's closet). I'm thinking we could place Strive in both the pyramid scheme AND the junk category!!
Thanks for the link, Ark of Snark !!
DeleteYes, she did seem more "on" then we have *ever* seen her on SW.
However, not trying to snark, but definitely cynical about her story that when her weight-loss journey began 4 years ago, there just were no resources for her.
Huh !!!??? Really ???
Were her compelling blog entries back then about her pre-dawn trips to the fitness center for months under the tutelage of Sean the Trainer all an illusion?
And going back even farther, was her project, complete w/business plan, for a SW "fitness" center all a mass hallucination for the viewers??
No resources...??
Or simply yet another stab at a SW money scheme ??
side note...
She mentions "working"....why have we never heard of Janelle as a "successful" realtor, if that is still her legit job?
Totally!! All those personal training sessions with that groupie - uh trainer Sean - who was always at their house to waht the show live tweeting with them. WTH was that? Yes TLC, we remember those FACTS.
DeleteShe kept saying she was working out, going to him blah blah, all for a storyline. With her struggles (no surprise after 6 kids) I wish she would give herself the real gift of self-love and have weight loss surgery. Now there would be a storyline! Robyn would have a ShitFit if Janelle became smaller than her. It's a tool she could surely use. Let's not forget when she was training for a 5k that Kody had to show her up at. Such liars!!
For Stive, she would have had 5 months of personal trainers at her disposal, not just videos, so what gives. At least two of her sons are into sports, just look also how roided out Logan is.
Strive With Janelle is just embarrassing. I guess the target audience is shut-ins who don't move? Otherwise, I think everyone does the basic movement daily that Janelle is talking about. I actually think this will be less successful than My Sisterwive's Closet. I think Meri's Lularoe income will do far better also because even though I don't like it, people do buy that stuff.
DeleteAlso, I don't think weight loss surgery would really help Janelle much. I have watched so many people fail on My 600lb Life. You really have to be committed and want to change. If Janelle has had this company for 5 or so months and isn't even losing weight with that as a motivator, I don't gastric bypass will help her. I mean, most people that would be publicly launching and promoting a company like this would at least try and have some weight loss to show for it. I feel like this company is so fundamentally flawed. Basically, she is trying to sell the mindset that it doesn't matter what you eat, it doesn't matter if you lose any weight, as long as you move a little everyday, you will "Strive". Well, basic science tells us that's not true....
So, Robyn got a cat. Well, her second youngest daughter got a kitten. Thought she didn't like animals?!
ReplyDeletehave these people no shame?? no resources??? a personal trainer, doing videos bragging how the paleo diet worked for her, she cant resist cake because there is a birthday party every month. This is a joke. no resources ??she has NO WILLPOWER !!!
ReplyDeleteThere were cameras at this march in Utah for polygamist. I dont know the details but Kody carrying a sign that says "my Lover" in red is just may too much. Especially with his kids in tow. Christine must be, who is he taking about because it's not me. He is just jumping on the march bandwagon for publicity. They never attended any of the court proceedings.
ReplyDeleteIf TLC cameras were there, you can bet that the footage of KodyIdiot "acting" the part of the informed, engaged activist will be used by the producers front and center in next season's trailer.
DeleteKody the Protestor has such a ~hollow~ ring, doesn't it !!?
Oh crap! This means there's another season of this nonsense?
DeleteJanelle & STRIVE: Just watched the link to the broadcast (thank you, Ark of Snark). Have to adamantly disagree with Janelle's "take" that there were "no resources" out there when, in fact, there are clubs and programs galore. If "moving" is what is being touted, then throw on a pair of shoes and go for a walk---or just walk around your own house several times per day---if you have more than one level (as Janelle does), go up and down the stairs---up & down, up & down...it is not rocket science---it isn't even beginning science. MrSpock hopes Janelle's "journey" will reap her fitness rewards---but, so far, not seeing any progress.
ReplyDeleteUtah demonstrations for polygamy: Who didn't see that coming? Once the door was opened wider as to who can enter into a legal marriage, then every conceivable notion of who/what can be married was bound to take a stab at getting "legitimized," for lack of a better term. As discussed thru the years on this blog, the implications for such things as Social Security, inheritance, etc. could be mind-boggling in a plural situation. The legal world better start ramping up---just as it has had to do over things like sperm donors, being a rent-a-womb, having fertilized eggs languishing in cold storage---and the list goes on...
Agree MrSpock!! I was heartened to see there was not a good turnout at the demonstration. Heck, between the Darger family and the Browns they comprised 25% of the estimated 200 people there (and I think 200 is stretching it from the pictures I saw online!)
DeleteIf the state of Utah would make a legitimate effort to start prosecuting welfare fraud, domestic abuse/child abuse, child rape, etc. it would send a clear message to these fundamentalist groups abusing women and children. Note to the state of Utah; you don't have to wait for more stringent bigamy laws to enforce laws already in place!!
I looked at the pictures that accompanied one of the articles about the pro polygamy demonstration. I saw Kody, Meri, Janelle, and Christine (who spoke at the rally), but no Robyn. Her oldest son was there, as was Aspyn, Madison and her husband, Logan, and a few other children. I am very curious about where Robyn was. Seems like an event that they would all want to make a united front, or at least the appearance of one.
ReplyDeleteShe's legal, so maybe she didn't need to be there. She's likely a monogamist in her mind so why support such a change in laws that would reduce her full legal loot to a fourth (if there's anything left when they are old). Weird Maddie AND her husband would be there since she's been so anti from the get go. Argh, they must be filming another season!!
DeleteArgh is right! At least two different people tweeted that the Brown's production crew was there at the march filming it for the show.
DeleteIt will be interesting to see what next season will bring...OR NOT
DeleteHave to say the pic above on the Twitter feed of Kody standing there looking at the security guard/police officer only needs Kody to be wearing an animal skin toga, dragging a large animal leg bone ala Fred Flintstone. His hair and dopey Neanderthal snarl are already picture perfect.
ReplyDeleteNo question...
This footage of the march will be a plot point for next season !!
Would anyone doubt that Kody or TLC would resist exploiting this opportunity for showcasing Kody ?!!!
I hate to be one of those women who shames another for how big her belly is, but with Janelle's trying to make money off of other overweight women, she deserves what she gets. It's the same as putting their family in front of a camera to demonstrate how healthy they think their lifestyle is but then they get all pissed when critics point out the flaws in their arguments. Here's a little advice for Janelle: Until you get inside your own head and work there, all the life style or exercise or weight loss coaches in the world cannot help you lose that weight. Oprah's pulling the wagon full of yellow looking fat after surviving weeks of a liquid diet and dropping down to like a size 3 or so; Star Jones telling the world she lost all her weight by doing a little stretching; and the gal from Wilson Philips dropping weight, gaining weight, and dropping again. It's clear from the extreme to the more extreme that the mind needs to be fixed first and the rest should follow. Janelle has listened to Meri say over and over again that she was never jealous of Janelle because Kody didn't have romance with Janelle (just sex); then who can forget Robyn's telling her to start a line of clothes for the plus size; and even Christine digs with Janelle's lack of maternal instinct. I ask what woman could stand up to those subtle insults? And here she goes again trying so hard to get some kind of validation with a very public weight loss attempt, which hasn't seemed to work. One of the best ways to fix your mind is to remove the person or people who mess with it...here's a thought, maybe, just maybe, Janelle would do much better if she built a huge fence around her house and stopped the appearances for the camera of the faux relationships that she supposedly has with the faux wives and the faux husband. Geeze: to thine own self be true...
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to earning income I really wonder why these people think their true potential source of income is selling something. Haven't they learned by now they are not good at it and go get regular day jobs with steady paychecks?
ReplyDeleteI don't think any of them really want to work. I'd think that they would all want to work on different things so they don't have all their eggs in one basket. If one thing fell thru, they all wouldn't crash and burn, they'd only lose 1/5th of their total income. But real jobs, not these pyramid schemes. I think they think they are so famous people are going to jump on the pyramid under them giving them a cut of their work, again money for nothing in their minds. I agree with ark of snark, they should all go get real jobs
DeleteAnd here's a shock, if one of them got a steady full time paycheck, they could start saying for retirement and get some health benefits for dependents. But in their mind, it's easier to just sit back and let the government take care of them. I really wonder how will they make it as seniors without any contributions going to Social Security and so on. Have they ever contributed to SSA or a 401k, for example? Irresponsible if not.
DeleteI thought Janelle had a retirement once upon a time and they cashed it out running for vegas, Janelle's retirement, Kody's decision what to do with it, why ask why...Makes me tired Ark.
DeleteIndeed, Janelle, a plus size herself, is attempting to "cash in" on women (and men too, I guess) struggling with weight issues and inertia in order to find a solution, just as RunKodyrun pointed out.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is the glaring fact that "moving" one's body does not necessarily need an expensive fitness center membership or an online paid subscription like STRIVE, as MrSpock duly noted.
Agreeing with Ark of Snark.....
At what point do the Browns understand that their multi-level scams/ online quickie business/ blog/subscription projects are not ever going to succeed? Not in counting on a wide spread response that they naively seem to expect. The Browns' track record on such endeavors is dismal.
And, thanks to Cynical Jinx's Living Room and the old SW Blog, readers know that these money-making schemes are almost DNA inherent to Plyg philosophy. But does that Plyg group make up the majority or volume of their viewer base or potential customers?? Doubtful.
Also, if one does a google search of LaLaRoe's current status, the speculation is that the craze of LalaRoe wild print leggings and clothing is fast reaching its peak due to saturation and cheaper competition.
Meri had best hurray up and score as much as she can and as fast as she can. The down-slide is imminent !!
As I'm rewatching old seasons I've noticed Janelle looks the best in Season 8. She had lost the most weight that season and appears the most independent at that time. If she had a tummy tuck or some of her skin removed at that time then I firmly believe she would have appeared smaller and more attractive than both Meri and Christine. I feel that the ensuing divorce and catfishing with Meri, blackballing of Christine and making Robyn queen of all things Brown caused Janelle to relapse and gain all of her weight and insecurity back....imho
DeleteDon't make excuses for Janelle! ! I don't think she really cares about all of the dynamics with Kody as long as the family is raking in the dough from TLC . Her main concern is keeping those big houses in the Kody sac and exerting the least amount of ebergy to do so . I'm sorry to be blunt but she is just lazy! And I don't think she's pretty at all. She has those really big gums that always make me think that she has gingivitis . Robyn is just so sanctimonious and thinks her opinion is the final word. Can't stand hearing her talk and roll all her nouns together. She's so ugly on the inside and she reminds me of the evil step sisters in the Cinderella stories. Poor Meri has completely lost any ounce of self esteem that she had. That poor Brown tooth, and fried hair looks like she flat ironed it in the dark while on meth! The only one who is remotely attractive is Christine but her rosacea and clogged nose detract from that. Plus she's living in such a small little bubble all amped up on happy pills that even Kody can't stand hearing her blather on and on! I guess I haven't seen her devour a plate of nachos though because it sounds like that might have been the grossest thing ever.
DeletePlease, tell us how you really think.
DeleteMariah has a girlfriend according to her latest twitter post: "When your girlfriend is an artist so you pretend to art for a day… "
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend as in FRIEND that's a girl ? Or an actual GIRLFRIEND ! That'd make a great story line for next season! Mariah would blow a gasket if Meri stole her thunder! I noticed something g interesting when Kody was asked about Mindy becoming his 5th wife... he said "besides, I'm not even Mandy's type"! That statement showed me that he's toyed with the thought before ! Oh how I would love for Robyn to have to endure Kody courting a younger voluptuous wife! That's make the hell that she's put all the other wives and the viewers through well worth it! Like the grand finale!!!
DeleteOk so this may be off topic, but has the group given any inclination about why Janelle divorced Meri's brother?
ReplyDeleteDear Anon 6:12; Janelle has been like a black hole regarding her divorce from Meri's brother, Adam Barber. After reading the Brown's book, I had more questions than answers!
DeleteMany online commenters surmised that Janelle was smitten with Kody after meeting him and their attraction was the main contributing factor to her divorce. This viewpoint is based on a combination of factors; the timeline of events and actual statements made by Janelle.
Timeline: Janelle marries Adam in Dec. 1988. Janelle meets Kody in the fall of 1989. Janelle's divorce is finalized months later on June 8, 1990. During the fall of 1992, Kody's dad, Winn, spiritually marries Janelle's mom, Sheryl. That same fall (Nov. 1992), Janelle spends a week camping in Wyoming on the Brown's family farm (in a tipi she bought after quitting her job) Meri and Kody coincidentally come visit the farm while Janelle is there camping. They invite Janelle to visit them in Montana and two months later, Kody and Janelle marry in Jan. 1993.
Janelle has been quoted as saying "I met Kody in the fall of 1989...when he walked into the room I looked at him and had that feeling of remembering something I had forgotten. It was a singular experience." She also stated that "something sparked" between them after having "several conversations." So, somewhere between "love at first sight" when she met Kody in 1989 (while she was married to his brother-in-law) and after many conversations with him, both she and her mother, Sheryl, convert to fundamental mormonism and decide to practice polygamy. One marries the father and one marries the son. What would Meri say about that? WEIRD.
The hazy part is the time frame during which Janelle becomes actively interested in polygamy and drags her mom along for the ride. Janelle describes that period of her life as being ostracized by her family for her new beliefs. She said her mother. Sheryl, was the only one who kept an open mind and wanted to be supportive of Janelle. In the process of meeting Kody's father and exercising this open mindedness, Sheryl falls in love with Winn and becomes his 3rd wife in 1992. This is nuts. But, it points out that Janelle was deep in this whole thing with the Browns/Kody before she and Kody married in Jan. of 1993.
Big Sky,
DeleteYou have all the chronological skills of a detective!! That reads like the script of a TV investigative show. lol.
And you are right, all the details about Janelle's divorce and infatuation with Kody are fuzzy at best, which makes the timelines all the more interesting and key to the events. Apparently Janelle's Kody-crush made it very easy for Kody to officially set in motion his dream of having a harem.
And I think that Meri was pissed that this all seemingly happened without her involvement and she didn't have the experience of picking and bringing the second wife in on HER terms...
DeleteOG Anon here, thanks for the info!
DeleteYou are welcome!
DeleteAlso, thank you Amused, couponing with a newbie, and everyone else on the blog who encouraged me to watch "Big Love." I started it and am loving it!! Thanks for the recommendation. Wish I had been watching it years ago, it would have been fun to make the plot line comparisons to Sister Wives in real time!
You are very welcome, Big Sky !
DeleteHave fun watching Big Love. It really was a great show !!!
Thanks for the info Big Sky. So Janelle was 19 when she married Adam Barber. I remember her saying in past episodes how Meri's family were her cool plyg friends. But, Meri's family was her family too, by marriage. Was Janelle Adam's first wife, I wonder. And were Adam and Janelle going to practice polygamy? Janelle has said she had long spiritual type discussions with Meri's Mom. I guess in Janelle's mind there was no need to mention that Meri's Mom was in fact Janelle's mother-in-law. Also Kody's Dad, Winn and Meri's Dad were good friends. In fact Meri's father was the one who convinced Winn to join the AUB. Kody found out about this when he came home from his mission. So really, Janelle may have been a little younger than Kody when she embraced polygamy. We will never hear the truth. Wow, what a tangled web!
DeleteI wonder if Meri also resented Janelle for leaving her brother? (The hypocrisy of it all) what a story , and it's all so very close to being incestuous. I really doubt Kody would think twice about marrying Robyn's niece.
DeleteBatSh*t Yes!,
DeleteJanelle stated in the book that Adam converted from the fundy side of Mormon (Meri's family) to mainstream LDS Mormon and they were temple sealed. But he wasn't spiritual in any way and their relationship lasted less than a year. Janelle states that she was friends with Meri and Kody for years, but just skips past the fact that she knew them had anything to do with being married to Meri's brother!! Janelle says that she never considered Kody romantically because she "wasn't in a faith that embraced that lifestyle", and then later jumps into the faith that DOES embrace the lifestyle, in essence she converted for Kody, she skirts the whole thing in this couch scene on tlc (but I honestly don't remember this TH from the show)
https://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/sister-wives/videos/falling-in-love-with-janelle
"I knew nothing about you when we were married..." That really astounds me. WHY on earth would you marry someone and make that commitment (even a polygamous commitment) without knowing that person!!??
"in essence she converted for Kody, she skirts the whole thing in this couch scene on tlc...."
DeleteYes, she did skirt that all important piece, but Janelle skirted a LOT of truths by staring vacantly at her shoes during seasons of couch chats and tell-all's.
It's not a mystery if you absorb exactly what Janelle has said, and more importantly what she slyly has/had avoided saying !!
Obvious Fact...Janelle developed the hots for her husband's sister's husband. The mystery isn't worth wondering why she got jungle hormonal for Kody...whatever and who cares on that!
BUT...why was it reciprocated by Kody so quickly and easily?? Except consider that Kody, newly self-indoctrinated Plyg master, had potential wife #2 begging for admittance into his fledgling harem. For a narcissist like Kody, this had to be received as Divine intervention. !!!
As for Janelle...she wanted him, she did what she needed to do to get him, and she was a successful breeder for him and his life plan.
Thanks for the info Roslyn. I didn't remember that clip either. Indeed Amused, it looks like Janelle's first marriage ended because she met Kody. Either that or something was going on in the marriage that Janelle was looking to escape from and joining Kody in plyg life gave her a new direction to go. Either way, it's how she always skirts this rather large truth about her life that makes her seem even more bizarre, if that's possible. I wonder if Janelle has some type of understanding with Meri that her brother won't be mentioned on the show. Or is it just part of the fake pious facade that the whole family pulls out whenever it serves them?
DeleteSeeing tweets about the plyg rally made me wonder "should be place bets on when Kody will run for office a la Big Love?" That's the next storyline in a way. Would have to move back to "unsafe" Utah maybe.
ReplyDelete...or he could run for office in Nevada...maybe Meri should go into politics.
DeleteThis is random but in the season 8 tell all I see a scar on the left of Kody's neck to the back of his ear that looks like he had a face lift. Anyone have any opinions about this?
ReplyDeleteIf he did have some face tweaking, he didn't get his money's
Deleteworth....it didn't make any difference at all.
Maybe it was just a bad makeup line. Cutting corners is their thing. Actually paying for a face cut...not so much.
DeleteYea, I didn't think he needed one to begin with but you know how vain he is...
ReplyDeleteHowever, he did use the finite resources to get a weave to make his locks more luscious as the family escaped from Utah. Therefore using this as evidence I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Kody spent his family's money on a facelift.
ReplyDeleteyes, hair extentions are a priority over tires and oil for your vehicles your wives and children are riding in.
DeleteDo they ever sit him on the right so we can see the other side of his neck?
ReplyDelete
