I guess getting divorced, then marrying her sisterwife Robyn and quickly impregnating her could influence Meri to look elsewhere for attention...even if it was a stinky old catfish!
Hopefully these storylines (and more) will be enough to boost those pesty sagging ratings, don't you think?

ReplyDeleteOkay, so call me crazy, but honestly I still find Meri's LaRue outfit leaps and bounds above the family ceremony outfit. I think the outfit is a much better fit on her body (though I will admit, the flower pattern is a little distracting, and the sleeves of the jacket could cling a little less). But I don't know, all in all, it's far more flattering than the previous outfits. JMO.

I mean, if they focus on anything but Kody and the wives, it *might* be something to watch. Might.
You forget she also has a husband. Not just a nanny and sister wives and teens around for free labor. Of course the teens are not allowed to say no to the kids. Blah blah blah. The kids in adulthood have all rocked. All have been allowed to go to accredited colleges, date without an accountability partner, decide who to date without male interference and some have even chosen to serve our country.

ReplyDeleteAnd could we really ever take the intelligence of a woman seriously who at this point post tv, post catfish, post throwing down of the creepy purity box, post ugly pony tail dates, post rock tower of shame would still think this is the place to find their path.
Beyond that this show will devolve into just an endless parade of increasingly boring weddings. Like the remaining piles of Duggers as they wander down the isle and into the delivery room. And as the houses (and not single household in which this whole thing was sold to us on.) slowly empty of children there is less of the chaos that keeps this show ticking.
I think in order to keep people on board you are right. There has to be another wife. Or one of these coming of age children has to opt to live the principal. Otherwise it is just a slow march to cancellation city.

That she had to have a dress that covered and hid her hips/stomach/thigh region. And then she walks out in the green nightmare declaring it perfect when it didn't just hug her hips but in its shiny satin glory it drew all attention to her midsection from far far away. If she went shopping with "friends" why oh why didn't anyone tell her the truth?

DeleteActually Meri did model another choice that was very complimentary but she chose the vivid chartreuse way too small satiny mess instead. I think the dress was purchased in advance because Mariah wore a matching ribbon at the commitment ceremony.
I wonder if the reason nobody told her was either ONE - a lot of them were all too happy to let her make a fool of herself. And/or TWO - she's made herself so unapproachable (the book covered plenty of instances where she either consciously or subconsciously, was a bit of a mean girl), that nobody felt comfortable enough to deal with her defensive butt, if they pointed out anything with her?

These women are chattel tied and devoted to TLC money now.
Since it is evident from the last two seasons that Meri being replaced as legal wife, and had consequently and sadly effectively having blown her mage as the "leader" of the harem, she is now irrelevant.
And while Janelle/Jangle is once again looking for a pot of gold via a fitness venture, she will never be anything more than the "good friend" wife of Kody. And really, how interesting can that ever be, and that her six children will systematically graduate from high school and either go to college or get married? These are just not earth shattering or unique happenings!
Christine's house is also emptying out, except for Truely.
Is her mother still in residence there to help out? With what?
Sobbin has full time, inhouse childcare. Doubtful that the Junk Closet is a viable project anymore. And even if it is, Sobbin is just too fragile to put in the time. (rolling eyes)

ReplyDeleteSince no one has mentioned it, I would like to tell you a little about Lularoe and how it works. It is a HUGE pyramid company originating in Plyg country, Utah. It is actually LDS owned but a lot of consultants are plygs. You have to be sponsored by another rep to get in, and that was Meri's sister in Lehi. She had an event this summer and got people to come buy these ghastly polyester one size fits all clothes. That outfit Meri has on is over 100$. It costs a new consultant about 6200$ to "launch". There is very little info online about the products or where they are made or the poor quality. They sell everything on FB parties or pop up shops. It is another racket and I will be anxious to hear if she says Lularoe on air.

DeleteIt's weird. It's like beanie babies and "unicorn" exclusive prints. And then if a consultant gets a rare print, she makes you buy something else with it, to obtain it. I got sucked in for a minute...well 2 months. I bought 4 Randy baseball tees. Same size. Each one fits very differently, fabrics are all different. Very unpredictable. The consultants market it as you can have so many different looks. A tight shirt, a loose shirt, a long shirt etc...yea, not my style. And the leggings are very soft but must be hand washed, inside out or they will shrink to an infant size and pill.

I loved it... it know it is scripted and staged and whatever, but knowing a little bit about the Kingston's and exactly how brutal the group can be (to both its own members and to outsiders alike) I give the girl's on the show a ton of credit.
@Hagar's Harem: I watched "Escaping Polygamy" and loved it! Like you, I admire those girls. Scripted and staged or not, I do think it showed a much more accurate picture of fundamental LDS polygamy and its seamy underbelly than any of the other shows. And it's edifying to see the success those young women have had and the lovely lives they are building for themselves and their families. I wonder what happened to Fred Kingston, though. I hope he got the medical attention he needed and is being cared for properly.

She is a creepy Brown family superfan but the family dropped her when the Catfish stuff came out. She used to be friendly with Meri's guy Sam but once she found out he was actually a smelly catfish all her social media profiles got hacked. Meri's twitter trolls hired a Private Investigator who determined the identity of the catfish and posted a taped interview with Kendra on youtube. At the end of part two, Kendra calls "Lindsay" on camera who swears up and down that Meri is engaged from a guy from Hawaii and has the texts to prove it so I guess it was her and not Kendra that planted that story.

DeleteAND...I play an online video game with a person from Australia...we have become good friends and chat a lot, my husband also plays an online game with a different person from Australia and I have heard plenty of Australian accents in the past few years. THAT is NOT an Australian accent...not even close. One thing you learn quickly about Australians is that they use a lot of their own type of slang within their language and NOT one word she spoke was Australian slang. She can only get an essence of Australian in her wordage on very few words, their accent comes out strongest with vowels and she misses most marks. Fakeity Fakeity Fake.

Robyn and the other wives would never allow it and if Robyn doesn't want it then it isn't happening. I wonder what would have happened if Kody met Mindy before Robyn? Oh and yeah, Mindy seems to connect really well with the other wives but that is because she isn't competition. If she became another wife that connection would die.

DeleteTechnically she is his step-sister but come on, their parents got together after Kody and Janelle became an item. It isn't like they were raised as siblings or anything. Also, marrying your ex-sister-in law is weird, I agree, but a heck of a lot different then marrying someone you consider your niece. I wish Maddie and Caleb well, I really do. However, I've been teaching college since the Bill Clinton administration and in my experience, women who "take a break" for their wedding almost never return to finish their degrees. Those who start their family right away are even scarcer on campus. Maddie may have to wait till her children are grown and gone before coming back to finish her degree. Sad, because she seemed like a bright girl with lots of potential. And even though wife-and-motherhood are very noble professions that require smarts and skills, I can't help but think Maddie should get her education while she can. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. She has little clue as to just how demanding motherhood can be (I am a new mother myself and this becoming a parent thing is no joke!). Add that to college and very few are able to do it. So glad I finished college before it was baby making time. I personally don't think I could have juggled both and kept my sanity! It is such a shame because I foresee many of the Brown children (especially the girls) forgoing college in order to get married/start families. Luckily Logan dodged that bullet. Though I don't personally feel he has not dated enough but his girlfriend seems level headed and a good catch. Has he graduated yet? Have I heard them (Logan and Michelle) mention grad school or is my mind making that up?

I wonder if on some level Maddie is trying to create the "ideal" family she feels she didn't have. Jangle's kids especially have always seemed distant and sometimes even challenging towards their father.

DeleteI think we all knew Maddie would become pregnant sooner than later. Her saying she wanted to become a Judge was a dream. Some things we all say when we dream big. Getting married and having babies is all she knows. Its comfort to her, and feels familiar to her. Shes going to be a stay at home mom. Period. And there is nothing wrong in that, I think we, as viewers saw more potential in her. Sometimes kids turn into their parents. And shes not going to stop at just one. Im most shocked at Mariahs transformation. Its exciting to see how far shes came along.

DeleteEveryone on this blog is so wrong about kody. I think he is an amazing father and husband. Did you all forget about the time that he climbed the ladder in the middle of the could de sac and strung those lights? I don't know about you but my man has never done that for me!! Did you forget about the time when they built the boat for the cardboard race?? Him and wives and kids all working together! What about the time in Hawaii how he told the wives how they and the children could eat pork at the luau even though he wasn't going to as a matter of firm belief in Godly principals? That was pretty flexible and open minded of him. The list goes on and on. I think they are a strong family with many years of happiness in their future.

My hubby wouldn't have had the time to hang the lights, but he would have hired some to take care of it, bc he provides for us, and that includes paying for things he can do (yard work, etc) so he can spend time with us when he is not working. Kody pouted and had a temper tantrum during the boat race, he took an activity that should have been quality time for only him and Gabe and turned it into an opportunity to pit the family and wives against each other (like he did with the caramels at Christmas.) It would have been nicer if he had worked only with the children that wanted to build the boat and not create tension by pitting the wives against each other. They ate pork at the breakfast place and he didn't notice, I think he is pretending he has an issue with pork to create manufactured drama for the show. My parents are strict vegetarians for religious reasons but we grew up eating meat until we were old enough to understand the situation and make a decision for ourselves. My parents explained the value of an education to us from an early age, and when University got so tough and stressful, (which it does) my father made sure we had the opportunity to fully disengage from our studies during the breaks by taking us on relaxing trips somewhere hot and fun. A further display of how my parents education provided a comfortable life for us and how obtaining an education for ourselves would ensure we continue to keep that level of comfort. (And when we went to Hawaii, it looked a lot better from where we stayed than where the Browns did.) And before you call me spoilt which I am not, I want you to know I had to pay for my own tuition, board and books, but from an early age I was encouraged to study, work hard and particpate in a variety of activities to make sure I would have access to scholarships, while balancing a part time job to build my resume and volunteering commitments. My Brother has completed his Phd, funded completely buy scholarships and grants, my parents encourage him to use his own spending money to buy a car and set up a retirement account, (the only 19 year old with one I'm sure.) I could go on and on about how the Brown haven't displayed even one one hundredth of the wisdom and care for thier children and family the way my parents did and the way my husband and I contiune to do so for our kids. Showing your child your ability to plan poorly (stringing lights in the middle of the night, not having a plan to build a boat, not adhering to a set schedule when traveling with another family) shows a lack of respect, forethought and care. It also shows a tremedous amount of selfishness and a lack of maturity. When you grow up in an environment that enourages the easy way out (paperplates, declaring bankruptcy for example) leads to children taking the easy way out quiting college when it gets too tough, swithcing to an easier major, getting married and having a baby (because it's fun) instead of working on your self first and making sure you put yourself in a position where you are able to tkae care of a baby....I could go on and on....people are not wrong about Kody on this blog Robyn you are.

BUT, common sense does seem to evade Mr Brown a lot. Don't forget he was using an upside down white pail to stand on, while attaching said lights to the houses. Kody positioned the pail on a friggin' ledge for goodness sakes. If he had fallen he would have been seriously injured if not killed.
DeleteAnd let's not forget Kody's parenting skill while the wives were away in San Francisco. Poor Truely. Mykelti and Aspyn tried to tell Kody something was wrong with her, but Kody simply felt her, declared she didn't feel like she had a fever and went on his way. I sometimes wonder if it was the camera crew insisting to Christine and Kody that the child was seriously ill.

Perhaps you've forgotten when Kody told Garrison "I'm the general...you're the soldier" and Garrison replied something like "Soldiers kill their generals". That's not a normal father-son dynamic. Or when Gabriel wanted to ask Kody something and Kody IGNORED the child and got into the camper without so much a second look.
I think it was during the commerative show after Win Brown passed away that Kody's mother offered some insight into Kody's "character". She told a story about Kody wanting to play on a hot water heater after she and Win told him no. Kody ignored his parents, continued to play on the water heater, fell, and was burned.
Kody has failed to grow up/mature from that impulsive impetuous child. Problem is, Kody is now priesthood holder for 4 families, 1 legal wife and 3 spiritual wives plus 18 children (3 or 4 now young adults themselves). He has yet to show himself to be a responsible, adult let alone a responsible parent.
The only thing amazing about Kody is how he 1) persuaded Meri to give up her legal marriage 2) thinks it's "normal" to throw away one wife (or 3 wives) for the sake of a fourth flakey wife who happens to still be able to get pregnant.
Kody is no father figure, he's basically nothing more than a sperm donor with 1 legal and 3 non legal baby mommas.
Kody's theme song should be Papa Was A Rolling Stone (where ever he laid his hat was his home...)

DeleteThat clip ended too soon. Morales took Kody aside for a one on one, told him how hurt and upset Christine appeared to be and asked him if he wanted to apologize for what he said. Kody got his Kody look on his face, and asked "Why should I?" completely oblivious to the fact his words had devastated his 3rd wife. He never apologized to her, and that...THAT is the person the OP called "... an amazing father and husband."
I normally don't say this, but I also agree the OP may have been Robyn. Who else but the current legal wife be so blind to Kody's cruel side?
I remember when Kody talked about Robyn being a divorcee and that having an "ick factor" and all the others wives called him out on it. Not one of those wives stuck up for Christine in this moment and supported her. Janelle looking at him with that smile on her face, it makes my blood boil!
DeleteWhen I read Anon 7:00 PM's piece, it read like an attempt at satire. Surely no one could claim to be that pro-Kody without either having tongue stuck firmly in cheek or, as has been suggested, it was possibly Sobbin herself. OR...it could have been Kody's last year or so appointed inhouse defender, Jangle-Janelle. Whoever it was, it was rather amusing given the examples that were used.

Once they had the footage desired for the show, Kody was replaced by a proper crew with proper equipment. I would bet our leftover pumpkin pie on that!!

Meri is looking for another get rich quick scheme where she does not have to make too much effort or move out of her comfort zone.Their new picture for the season is suppose to draw in to the new drama.Even Christine cannot stay awake ,their life is so boring.Maddie getting pregnant was so predictable. In Canada we hang lights every Christmas. It is no apology for screwing three other women and impregnating them . It is a celebration thing.Of course Kody built a boat for PR. He is a salesman.Obviously a poor one because four of them declared bankruptcy and then he had to pimp out his family on T.V. to afford the continuous vacation.They are a dysfunctional family and now the next generation is not showing much hope.These kids had so much more opportunity than the ones back in Utah living isolated on "church" land. Not very hopeful looking or a good role model for the girls they left behind.
