Wow, what a wild weekend this has been!
I had a chance to review the tweet activity of the Browns. In general, nothing really stands out but a few are a bit more noteworthy considering what we've all discovered.
For example, take this tweet from Robyn from 9/12/14. Something was off about it, but we didn't know why. Well, that was the day Meri and Kody filed for divorce and three months before Robyn got legally hitched to Kody.
How can so much love and so much pain exist in one single moment? It is like the most beautiful rose with the most painful thorns.
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) September 12, 2014
How about these tweets from Meri, about a week before Kody and Robyn got hitched. And there was a lot of them! Does Meri feel like she was slighted in some way? And the tweet she wrote to "Just forgive." Did Robyn or Kody say something that upset her? Now, knowing that Kody and Robyn were less than a week from making it legal, her tweets are kind of sad in a way. I don't think the feelings Meri is experiencing can be explained away as spokes in a wheel needing to be realigned or smoothing out the rough places.

Just forgive. It's for you anyway. The person who faulted you probably isn't even aware, and it's only bothering you, not them.

— Danny Gokey (@dannygokey) December 9, 2014
As we get closer to the wedding date, it seems that Meri was about to do something she always wanted to do just before she left for that meet and greet in Arizona.
I have wanted to start my Christmas village collection for years. Finally got my first piece today!! pic.twitter.com/6FyeNAHpSS
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) December 10, 2014
She was in travel mode to Arizona in this tweet, made on Kody's wedding day...
I'll be at The Spot, a cute little restaurant in Gilbert AZ, tomorrow from 4 to 5. If you're in Phoenix or surrounding areas, come say Hi!
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) December 11, 2014
And the day after the wedding, Meri tweeted about her excitement that Mariah was coming home that day and a few days later how God has a plan...
I'm not excited at all that @mariahlian is coming home for the holidays today! ;-) Christmas music playing all day to welcome her! WAAHHOOO!
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) December 12, 2014
#yup #Hesgoodlikethat pic.twitter.com/PLtEvkPUjt
— Danny Gokey (@dannygokey) December 15, 2014
Just before Christmas, we discovered Meri and Mariah left the cul-de-sac and vacationed in Disneyland, of course.
Yep we're here today! :) Loving it at Christmas time! pic.twitter.com/EEupegPXqY
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) December 22, 2014
Just before filing for divorce, Mariah tweeted this about her family. Were the "adult" offspring told of what was going to happen a few weeks away?
"@mariahlian: unbelievably filled with gratitude for the family I was blessed to be a part of" And we are blessed to have you!
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) August 29, 2014
Now this is interesting, two tweets made on the same day - one from a woman who within a week would be filing for divorce, and the other from the woman who would become Kody's new legal wife.
Accepting & seeing what others see as their truth, when its so far from your own truth, can be difficult. #ittakeslove
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 4, 2014
A true friend never makes you regret being vulnerable with them.
— Robyn Sullivan Brown (@LuvgvsUwngs) September 4, 2014
A short four days before their filing for divorce, Meri was apparently out of town.
This is my welcome back to Vegas. Good to be home! pic.twitter.com/N520uQIDtK
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 8, 2014
A day later she tweeted about "haters".
I just find it sad that haters need to be mean to our fans. I mean, being mean to us is one thing, but to be mean to our supporters? Really?
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 9, 2014
The day before filing, Meri retweeted Mindy and complained about being allergic to metal jewelry.
pic.twitter.com/qwvOSgl4mi
— Mindy Jessop (@mindy_CJ66) September 11, 2014
Sometimes it gets super irritating that I can't wear metal jewelry with suffering some major consequences. #allergies
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 11, 2014
Three days after filing, Meri was looking forward to going out of town again the next week.
"@mariahlian: I'm so excited to meet my new baby cousin tomorrow💗 pic.twitter.com/TNIvE4Emh5" So envious! Can't wait till next week!! :)
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 14, 2014
Then there's this tweet, where Meri informed her followers about her dizzy spells, which started on the day she filed for divorce.
Into my 3rd day of dizzy spells. Not getting much checked off my weekend to-do list. Ugh!
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 14, 2014
Last, there were these two tweets. Was she regretting filing? Was the "Some moments...[fill in the blanks] " tweet her way of coping with misgivings?
The grass is always greener where it's being watered.
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 15, 2014
Some moments...
— Meri Brown (@MeriBrown1) September 17, 2014
I then took a look at Aspyn's tweets, just to see if there was any indication of what was to come. It appeared August was a major vacation month before school. Also, she provided a pretty good timeframe by tweeting about moving into her apartment with Mykelti. At least for me, it seemed the offspring may have been purposely distracted by trips and moving. We now know that at least on August 14, the production crew was filming.
I had some fabulous Ethiopian food with my aunt and uncle in New Jersey tonight. Can't beat new experiences! pic.twitter.com/Zv8aArYblQ

So many fun things happened this weekend, delish Thai food, an Ed Sheeran concert and a Keith Urban… http://t.co/HmppvaIceQ
— Aspyn Brown (@AspynBrown) September 2, 2014
And then there's this telling treat that seemed unusual. A mini vacation to the beach for the "adult" offspring with Janelle. Was this also to get them out of the cul-de-sac in case Meri totally lost her composure when she filed for divorce? And notice that Mindy was also on this trip.
Mini vaca to the beach with these lovely people. @FroginBrown @AspynBrown @JanelleBrown117 pic.twitter.com/w2QBItwunK
— Mindy Jessop (@mindy_CJ66) September 14, 2014
Reviewing Janelle's tweets, she also provides a useful timeframe tweet by indicating she is babysitting Truely. Was this when Kody and crew went to Utah to pack up Grandma Annie? And how strange to tweet about "society pushing lust instead of love."
“@mavaline: "society pushed lust instead of love" pic.twitter.com/TbpfV50C6A”. I love this - it's so true - we have lost something...
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) August 31, 2014
I've had Truely for 2 days & even though she spends a lot of time here it's been different. I think Savanah is having a "big sister" wake up

Heard this last night and whether it is scientific or not, it made an impact - "EMOTIONS ARE CHEMICAL REACTIONS TO THOUGHT PROCESSES"

The day before Meri filed for divorce, Janelle was buying clothes...perhaps for the mini-vacation.
So - buying a few clothes for fall & I wonder if I could possibly ever have enough jeans and T-shirts because it's all that seems appealing
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) September 11, 2014
Life is an art not a science.
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) September 11, 2014
And on the day Meri filed, Janelle tweets something that was totally oblivious to what had to be a traumatic day in Meri's life.
I'm constantly amazed at how tech savvy my kids are. It's such a different world. Yes it's old news but some days it takes my breath away.
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) September 12, 2014
And then she is on a road trip...
On a fun road trip w/ adult children. But trying 2 find the balance between traveling w/ an adult and trying not to be a mom is interesting
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) September 13, 2014

Less than a month later, Janelle was on another road trip, this time with her children...

And remember how strange it was to read this tweet about group texts...
In our family , group texts of 18 ppl are a strangely bonding experience LOL.
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) October 21, 2014
This Thanksgiving tweet from Kody didn't seem unusual, except that the TLC used a previous year's Thanksgiving picture on their SW Facebook fanpage. Was this because they didn't expect Kody and family to tweet a family picture so soon after the divorce was final?
What I am thankful for...my family! pic.twitter.com/S9zi0U0Ah1
— Kody Brown (@realkodybrown) November 28, 2014
This tweet from Janelle, showing off her child Gabe and Robyn's daughters talents seemed unusual.
So proud of our kids! They all have different talents. Gwen writes & Aurora/Gabe performed w/jazz band last night pic.twitter.com/dFqfYLcsgg
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) December 9, 2014
A short 24 hours after Kody legally tied the knot with Robyn, Janelle was plugging a TLC special via twitter. Again, business as usual for her.
I struggle 2 find something that even my teens will watch with the family. That is why I'm excited for @TLC #TheSecretSanta ! Sun 12/14 7/6c
— Janelle Brown (@JanelleBrown117) December 12, 2014
And then this retweet, three days before Christmas from the Dalai Lama. Could this be Janelle's attempt to "cheer up" sister wife Meri?
Compassion should be unbiased, based on a recognition that others have a right to happiness, just as you do.

Add this next item to the things that make you go...hmmmmmmm...pile.
Case in point. On Bonnie Fuller's Gossip site, there's a comment on a photo essay that asks this innocuous question.
Old news, right? Now look at the posting date...I've highlighted it in red...
Hey, that was almost 2 weeks ago! And what happened this Saturday? Yep, but this time it was more successful.
So does this mean J702 just happened to be browsing Clark County Family Courts website and decided to check if Kody Brown was listed?
Perhaps. But what are the odds this would happen, on a Wednesday and a Saturday, with probably hundreds of people searching for information and accidently stumbling on Kody and Meri's D.I.V.O.R.C.E petition??
You'd have a better chance at winning the lottery I bet!
Was J702 a family friend with inside info that they were dying to tell the world about?
Possibly. This is beginning to look suspiciously like a planned event. Something tells me if no one took the bait on January 31st, well, there would still 7 days left before Robyn's Journey episode airs on February 8th.
Know what I'm saying?
And "they" would keep trying, and trying until somewhere on social media the info would go "viral".
I'm just wondering who "they" are, that wanted this info out to the public?
Special Thanks to Cheryl in my other living room for sharing this info with us!
Thoughts???

These women act like angsty teenagers, my god! All those quotes about love and forgiveness are embarrassing. Grow up.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I 'follow' my 14 year old cousin on Instagram and she and Meri could have interchangeable accounts. All these posts about love and forgiveness are annoying and passive aggressive coming from a teen...and are absolutely sickening from an adult.
DeleteI'd be sad for the Kodettes if I didn't find their behavior and constant encouragement of Kody so deplorable.
This is not love multiplied. It isn't even love divided, because I do not believe any love exists to be quantified.
No secret that I enjoy snarking on these adult Browns.
ReplyDeleteBut some of these tweets of Meri are sad......sad and tellling just how fu*ked up this plyg lifestye really is for the women. Not that that point hasn't always been obvious, but this marriage monopoly game is just pathetic.
Actually it reminds more of the kid's card game of "Go Fish' where you get to say to someone, "gimme all your eights or sixes" and the person must comply and surrender their cards.
So the exalted "first wife-legal wife" status is a nothing more than an imaginary title that can be rotated around at will to keep the finances redistributing and producing.
WHY would any woman agree to such a cold, impersonal business arrangement and call it "love" ??
How many times in these 5 years did Meri literally beam in all her orangeness when clips of her wedding and reception were shown? At least "that" part seemed to be one of the few "authentic" Kodyworld offerings.
Did /do they get married and celebrate what amounts to "nothing" really, if it is vulnerable and possibly subject to a future reshuffle??
I would like to think that Meri and the rest of these deranged Brown women are perfectly okay with this new arrangement, since it likely will ultimately benefit them all with more goodies and freebies.
That they and Kody are just doing what plygs do....lying and scamming !!
However, the timeline and content of Meri's tweets speak otherwise.
No doubt her deal DID come with special perks for her compliance, no doubt about that at all.
But good god, what a sick trade !!!
It will now be even more of a challange to watch this show knowing how even more duplicitious and phony their "reality" REALLY is !!!
*CJ, thanks for the time you put into compiling these tweets.
It had to take up most of your day and last night. *
You're Welcome, Amused. My pleasure!
DeleteI seriously doubt the question on Binnie Fuller's site came from anyine other than a member of the Brown camp. Most of the commenters on that site seem kind of uniformed about the Browns/polygamy. I cannot imagine any of them deciding to do the kind of detective work that post would indicate...
DeleteI find myself feeling very empathetic toward Meri. You're right, Amused, to point out the beaming look of joy we've all seen on Meri's face when recounting her early days with Kody. It makes me feel certain that being the first legal wife, and not just the first wife, was definitly part of Meri's personal iconography. And part of that special position has given Mariah a Royal berth as well.
DeleteIn a way, Meri is having to deal with her personal belief system being changed dramatically. At least her child is mostly grown and out on her own. They will both be okay. But I've got to imagine that it's been a little rough. The crowns have been passed down the line to Robin and Sol.
I weep for the Meris of the world.
It seems like Kody's ultimate metaphorical reason for the switch has to do with just what he told his mother after his father's death..."I know what it's like to find a soul mate late in life". When the deal goes down, Robin's the one. She's a smartee in the ways of working with 'love'. She got him. And legally. (Drop of metaphorical mic by Robin).
Kody's parents had a regular monogamist marriage and legal marriage during Kody's entire childhood. Believe me, a legal marriage has more meaning to Kody than it might someone who completely grew up in polygamy, and even then...
I recall Kollene talking about how much she liked Meri. What an interesting experience it has been to watch the unraveling of a polygamist family that 'makes it big'.
Cynical, very well researched and thought out; insightful.
It's so sad to me that they think this is all the deserve...
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine being a child in that cul de sac...so confusing all of the time. No matter how old you are. And for Robyn's kids....one divorce, one commitment and now a full marriage in the space of how many years? I know that can happen in the monogamous world but when you also throw in bonus mom's...just so confusing.
ReplyDeleteI know my comment is not new or earth shattering it just seems to be more than a confusing time for the kids.
I am shocked! I hope this is discussed at some point this season. Isn't Robyn the one always crying about Meri distancing herself from the family? Please Robyn, how is this not going to further push MerI out the door? Based on her tweets the woman clearly had a hard time with it all.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep tuning in just to see what sort of justification they concoct. Anyone think their is a chance Meri is actually leaving the family?
I will be very surprised if Meri truly leaves. I can see her distancing herself for a time and then accepting her new role.
DeleteShe probably won't leave while the TLC money is flowing, but she probably will when that all ends!
DeleteWow. I've wondered (hoped?) that this was, in part, Meri taking a step toward freedom. It very well may be, but circumstantial evidence here suggests it was anything but a positive launch. They may try to talk a good game about them all being in this together, but they can't tell me this kind of move involving a first wife - and all that it involves - isn't painful.
ReplyDeleteKody sucks. So does his "culture."
Those silly Browns may have to amend their commitment ceremony mission statement and burn those hideous dresses the way they burned Kodys bag, priceless. Wish I could remember what it said so I could revise it for them...
ReplyDeleteI just can't wait to see how they try to explain this as "normal." This is not normal. Nothing about their situation is normal. And it's just cruel for the women. Very cruel.
ReplyDelete.Meri is a person a stupid person but a person nonetheless. This is still disturbing day 2 . The women's salvation is dependant on the man. She is expendable, replaceable or interchangeable.Marriage is not suppose to be like rearranging your furniture. One out new one in. Women are just objects to kody . And what do we do with objects -use them.Poor little Brown girls .
ReplyDeleteYour analysis is, sadly, true, Anonymous at 6:33 PM. MrSpock also continues to be disturbed by the situation and wishes Meri would wake up---truly wake up---be angry, stop trying to bury her emotions with platitudes, and walk right out the door and into the light. Kody and Robyn's actions are beyond cruel---to Meri, to Christine, to Janelle, and especially, to the children. They should be ashamed---but MrSpock knows they are not. No "explanation" can explain away this travesty.
DeleteI'm still trying to process what the divorce really means - my thoughts are all over the place. It really exposes how the women are completely devoid of self-worth.
ReplyDeleteKody's divorcing Meri to legally marry Robyn has to be the cruelest thing he could have done to the original 3. He never helped Janelle or Christine financially, even though they each gave birth to 6 of his kids. Rather, they filed the for the bankruptcies, and, I believe, Janelle lost her name on the deed of the Lehi house and wiped out her retirement to fund the escape to Las Vegas. I doubt any of those 4 would have considered such a legal marriage shuffle in their pre-Robyn life, even if it would have helped Christine or Janelle or all 4 of them. Kody may even have said that they're free to leave any time they'd like.
Maybe his spiritual marriages to Janelle and Christine were religious obligations (for his own elevated salvation), but he never felt obligated to them in this life. I didn't think he could show more disregard for Janelle and more contempt for Christine than we've seen, but he just proved me wrong.
I am also beginning to think that Kody unilaterally decided to divorce Meri. Maybe he cushioned it with the reminder that she'll remain sealed. But, there's new meaning to her THs where she cries that she no longer knows her place in the family, she's afraid of what Robyn would think that she wants to go back to school, etc..
Also, the Janelle teaser of asking if she should forgive them (or Meri) comes to a new light. She must have entered therapy about 1-2 months before Meri and Kody filed for divorce.
Only Robyn and Kody would find the other one a great catch. Robyn may no longer have any excuse to not have more of Kody's children.
The idea of polygamy as the key to their eternal salvation has to be all that they have to hold on to. I would almost understand if they all stayed in the cul de sac compound and led even more separate family lives, having sold their souls for those houses.
They won't give any details - just - this is what WE feel is best for OUR family.
ReplyDeleteAnon 6:59: Yup. They'll glaze over the whole thing, throw in some "spiritually bound" stuff, and then refuse to answer any real questions. They'll act like this is no big deal. The only thing is, it IS a big deal.
DeleteSocial security. If he dies married to robyn the pay out is larger as she would get a payment as a spouse caring for his kids. She has the youngest child so far. I hope he lives a long life and sees all the kids marry.
ReplyDeleteNone of them should be married. This goes way beyond cohabitation. This is divorcing a woman you have no intention of not continuing to live like married before. And a woman marrying him knowing this. It's fraud. I really hope the state looks at this in a different perspective and prosecutes them for this. None of them should have a legal marriage certificate. They are simple single people spiritually bound to one another, nothing like a marriage and they should not be gaining any fruits of marriage or divorce when they are not living the legal responsibilities of the two contracts. If none of them were married this situation woud not bother me. Is fraud not illegal? This is why the state will not for public policy sake ever allow a group marriage license. They have convinced more people it should be illegal with jail time attached to the penalty if a person legally married participates in this.
If it's to try and adopt her kids, they should be ashamed. It didn't even make sense in the big love storyline. And even then they made barb a guardian if anything happened to Nikki, course her mother killed the kid's dad. And they knew it. Enough to go to jail for that. But Bill and Nikki didn't have to marry for Nikki's daughters sake.
You worry your dad could be arrested for polygamy and go to prison. Well so do the children of other criminals. Lots of parents behind bars. You visit them. They get released and hopefully have learned and don't go back. Really not sad for you. You should be fearful your parent will go to prison when you know they are doing something illegal.
KMS I don't know what country you live in but here in the USA it is not illegal for people to divorce and still live together. I did a internet search and found out that it is very common due to the bad economy for divorced couples to continue to live together out of necessitiy. Captain and Tennille are divorced but still living together. It is not against the law and it isn't fraud.
DeleteThey are not living together. They are sleeping together. The utah case simply about cohabitating is someone in the cohabitation held a marriage license. This is much different. It is swearing in a court on a legal document that you no longer wish to live as husband and wife. Divorced couples can share the same roof but not the same bed. They swore to no longer live as married couples. I'm not talking about address. Then he turns around while still living with his ex, in every respect as if married to her still and now swears to love robyn and be married to her to the exclusion of others when he readily admits that is a lie, she admits that is a lie, Meri admits that is a lie. None of them should be legally married. Is captain legally married to the next door neighborhood? He has a legal separate household. I am talking about legally swearing something to the state and it being a lie. This is way different from not prosecuting an adulterer evenly. This is about lying. How is it different from lying and getting a paper marriage so someone can obtain citizenship? Sleeping with your neighbor isn't fraud. Marrying them when you have no desire to give up being married to the woman you swore to the state you would not longer be married to is fraud. What are they going to do next, adopt from abroad together and then give the child to Meri to raise? Nothing could surprise me now. If he just got a legal divorce from Meri when he took janelle on and they stayed single it would be fine if they all want to sleep over at each other's homes. That would have been the time to divorce. When they stopped having the intention on being exclusive. If they really valued their beliefs they would have done that. Maybe AUB have a different definition of lying? Their religion says they need to be in a group marriage. They don't need any legal marriage for that to happen. Their children will get benefits of DNA connection. You can leave your house go a group of people or have it in the names of several so long as their credit history is good.
DeleteIs captain legally married to someone else? Are they sleeping together? I have no idea who these people are but I am aware it's legal to remain in the same residence. If they move or on vacation and they sleep together that isn't living in the same residence. If captain marries he has lodging with his new wife who has her own roof over her head. It's lying on a document. Not sleeping/adultery with the neighbor. They should not be married. Their religion doesn't require a legal marriage document at all. If they were all legally single and spiritually married to dozens it would not be lying or fraud. How is it different than marrying on paper for citizenship? You can get in a heap of trouble if that isn't sincere.
DeleteAlso - Social Security - Meri will get her share when Kody dies - you need to be married for 10 years. Christine and Janelle will get nothing.
DeleteI think the OP must have had a lot of fun tonight. Too much fun maybe. Talking nonsense about SS, divorce, adultery but most of all doesn't know who the Captain and Tennille are? The irony not knowing the musicians who made the song Love Will Keep Us Together...Forever marriage only lasted about 40years.
DeleteI'm not sure what KMS is referring to by lying on a document. Also, keep in mind that they are in Nevada now not Utah. I think divorce in Nevada is probably as easy to request as a marriage in that state is.
DeleteI've never heard of it being illegal to divorce and continue to sleep and / or live together and I know plenty of folks that do it.
Gosh, remember those crazy 70s and early 80s where the tax laws were so awful that couples would get divorced and live together in order to file as single?
DeleteKelly E - I'm not sure what KMS is talking about either. I am divorced and don't recall there being anything in the document about committing fraud if we continue to live together or sleep together. When you get divorced it is a legal action to terminate a marriage relationship. You can still have a relationship with the person in what ever way you want. I personally did not want any type of relationship with my ex. Many other divorces are more friendly (the couple continues to have sex) or out of monetary issues need to continue to live together.
Delete"It is swearing in a court on a legal document that you no longer wish to live as husband and wife."
DeleteNo, it really isn't. First of all, you aren't "swearing" to anything. A divorce is simply the dissolution of a legal bond of marriage. The court doesn't give a rip whether or not the couple plans on sleeping together after the divorce is final, nor whether there is still physical co-habitation. There is no law against it, and there is no fraud. These are all consenting adults. Their intentions are obscure, their personal choices are often twisted, but this divorce/re-marriage is breaking hearts, not the law.
KMS, I think you're confusing and mixing legal and moral issues. There is nothing illegal about divorcing a spouse and while continuing to sleep/live with them. There's nothing illegal about continuing to be in business with someone you have divorced, nor is it illegal to continue to own property with the person you've divorced. As redwoodcurtain said at 11:19AM, a divorce is simply the dissolution of a legal bond of marriage. Nothing more. There are no strings attached, no limitations or exclusions.
DeleteThe above Granada comment is one of the funniest things I've ever read.
DeleteMaybe the Captain is sick and doesn't want his medical costs to drain all of their capital so he and Tennille got legally divorced in order to protect for her their assets.
will Kody have the shrunken balls to admit this what he wanted all along? He had three wives that had nothing but conflict for many years. I can't imagine the hurt these kids must feel. Every upheaval in their lives have been explained away, but in the end it is all about what Kody wants. I don't believe it has anything to do with custody or Robyn's ex husband. Robyn has been the wife for 5 uears and now she just has the title to go with it. I can't see this helping her's or kody's standing with what is left of their fans.
ReplyDeleteI wonder also how the kids feel, but especially Mariah. I wonder how she feels about her dad, and about Robyn. I hope this shows her that polygamy aint what its cracked up to be.
DeleteLooks like the UK tabloids already have the story going.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ibtimes.co.uk/sister-wives-season-6-kody-brown-divorces-first-wife-meri-wed-robyn-1486103
So is Robyn now Kody's second wife or still his fourth? And since Kody and Meri are divorced, is she now his third or maybe his first since she is his legal wife? Who's on first? Seriously.
ReplyDeleteHopefully unless Meri truly got free they are in order of the ceremonies. Gosh she has had a spiritual sealing, a commitment ceremony and now a legal service. Always on the honeymoon.
DeleteI wonder if the kids knew? I have a feeling it was a secret for most of them. How could this be secret so long?
So are you thinking the show's intro will have to be changed? MrSpock suggests an opening like "Bonanza" In those opening credits the Cartwright with top billing rotated every week...so the same could happen with SW and they would all take turns being "wife" number one!
DeleteBoth Mariah and Maddie's tweets from December show them being at school and taking finals on the wedding day. I'm guessing they weren't told until after the event
Delete"I'm guessing they weren't even told until after the event."
DeleteThat is so completely wrong, underhanded, and just downright creepy. You divorce one "mom" to marry another "mom" and you keep it from your kids?! I applaud any one of those Brown children who leave that freak-nest, fly away and don't look back.
"I'm guessing they weren't even told until after the event."
DeleteThat is so completely wrong, underhanded, and just downright creepy. Your dad divorces one of your "moms" to marry another "mom" and the kids don't even realize what is happening...wow.
Mariah must be devastated. Actually, all of the kids might be - after all, Kody could've married either Janelle or Christine and chose the last "wife" instead. I for one cannot wait to see how the family spins this fiasco.
Laurakaye, good point and remember that Robyn is not a "mom" She didn't raise these kids. She arrived like a hurricane, brought in her kids and then elbowed her way into the nest claiming all for her own as if "they had all been together from the beginning" Sneaky snake.
DeleteI live with my exhusband we were divorced 10 years ago
ReplyDeleteIs he legally married to someone else? My spouse shared a residence with his ex a few months after the divorce while she finished a class before leaving the state. But during the time neither was sleeping with each other or married to another person. You swear certain things are true when you divorce. You swear certain things are true when you marry. Not just that you are not married legally. This isn't just having affairs after marriage or sharing an address. Since the lie is for benefits it should be treated like any lie to marry legally, like citizenship. I'm done. If christine and janelle legally married each other I would not be shocked. Surprised they haven't done so for the benefits all this time.
DeleteKMS, when you apply for a marriage license you're asked if you're presently married, not whether you're co-habitating with someone or whether you're having pre-marital sex. The only thing you're swearing to when you marry is that you're not presently married. The 'religious' vow you take is completely different. I think you're confusing the two.
DeleteThe state/courts simply don't care about your living arrangements. The state doesn't care what you do in the privacy of your own home. There are no laws against living with someone of the opposite sex, someone of the same sex, or whether you're in a physical or emotional relationship with either of them, just that you're not presently married to anyone else. There's nothing 'illegal' about having an affair. While an affair may be morally objectionable, there's nothing illegal about it.
No one is lying on a 'document' or committing fraud when they marry (even if they're having affairs with 3 different people) because there are no questions like that being asked. And no question is being asked because it's none of the state's business. Our government is not so restrictive and controlling that it governs what we do on a personal/moral basis. Thankfully, we're still a ways from living under true "Big Brother" control.
I can see Meri divorcing Kody..she has been unhappy for a long time. But why marry Robyn? If he has 2 other wives, what is the incentive? Christine will be off her rocker, unless there is something in it for her. This blows all of their reasoning for 6 seasons right out of the water. How interesting their real lives are. I don't think another RV trip will do the trick anymore. Why go dig up other plygs when your own life is where the interest is.
ReplyDeleteI think Meri, Janelle, and Christine are all unhappy. Meri, just from her tweets seem to want to explore, and not be home. Janelle looks either disgusted or checked out, and Christine seems to beat herself up for being upset at Kody. I think she gets brave, and then backs down, and apologizes. I think with the exception of Robyn, wife #1-3 look miserable.
DeleteAnd yet, "they love what they have, and it makes each of them better."
DeleteTime to change the opening lines, girls. You just appear ridiculous saying this before every show when everyone can see you're all completely miserable. Except maybe Robyn, the cat that ate the canary.
happagurl - When you said this all I could think about was that cartoon that they gave to the other plyg family! With the three tired wives and all their kids at home and the new wife coming in, wearing fancy clothes and looking pretty. This is exactly how the Browns are. I remember hearing something about Robyn shopping at fancy underwear stores (Victorias Secret?) around the time or a bit before she got legally married. The other three look so tired and haggard and aged.
DeleteHaha. Very true!! Meri, Janelle, and Christine are all the old tired wives, while Robyn is the hot to trot sexy new wife he brought in!! No wonder Kody wanted to give it as a present. What an ass. And the three wives just laugh like dummies. Hes talking about u three fools!!
DeleteHow is TLC going to explain the divorce? If I was Meri, I would just walk away.
ReplyDeleteOK - I had to check out MSWC. Significant or Inept?
ReplyDeleteThey're advertising a new item: a necklace that says, "Don't look back (sic) thats (sic) not where youre (sic) going," It's "to help encourage us to look forward and not live in our past," and "an excellent gift for someone who has had a rough trial and needs some encouragement to keep moving forward with a positive outlook on the future." It comes with accessory "believe" and "strength" charms.
Also, Meri's "fidelis" necklace has the most steep markdown. It's on sale for $115,49, while Robyn's "phoenix" and Janelle's "tree of life" go for around $160. Christine's fairy queen isn't promoted and shows on the last page of a search. It sells for $140.99.
Whoa. If that doesn't read like a thumbnail sketch of the family's dynamics...
DeleteGood to know some things remain the same in this topsy turvy new world: they're still illiterate morons.
I guess all the pawn shop money in the world can't buy a proof reader. Jeez.
DeleteIt does seem that they should update the opening sequence for the show. It's always started with a shot of Meri, then Janelle, then Christine, then Robyn, then Kody. It would seem Robyn should be front-and-center now as the true, legal and "first' wife.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Meri continues to make relationships outside the family and gets the heck outta there. Her only child is halfway through college now. Can you imagine in a few years if Mariah gets married, where do you think Meri will want to be at the holidays? Mariah's house? Or hanging around the cuddle-sac with Kody, his wife, his other shack-ups and her - now not just an aunt, but the pushed-aside, matron-aunt? I wish her the best. What a sad, sad life she's led. Infertile and watching her "lover" pop out babies every year with other women and she's expected to "keep sweet", embrace, celebrate and raise them all. She clearly clung to first-wife status as the one thing she she did have that made her role important and legitimate. Then Roby came in and came between her and Kody. (Remember that "body sculpture activitiy" at the retreat? It still makes me sick to my stomach to think of her choosing to stand with Robyn between her and Kody and Roby holding both their hands to join the three of them. Very, very sick.) And now Meri doesn't even have first, legal wife status.
Meri is the most free and it would actually be pretty easy for her to move on, find just one man to cherish her and have a decent life. Janelle and Christine are in a more complicated mess for longer because they have young kids with the bozo. Robyn can have him. They deserve each other.
MrSpock predicts an economic tsunami for MSWC.
ReplyDeleteEven if Meri thought she was being noble, the loss of legal status will weigh on her. I can't see Meri being noble based on everything we know ( equal household money, Mariah's car and private school), so I think this divorce is somewhat real. I think she really doesn't know her place in the family. I doubt she thought Kody would marry Robyn. She might have expected it to be Christine- who never worked before now, also has a young child, and wil need Kody's social security. I think this is the inevitable reality show destroys a family year.
ReplyDeleteBeing the first and only legal wife of Kody was Meri's one point of real status in this mob. She's not youngest, cutest, thinnest, funniest, smartest, or most fertile. Now she doesn't even have a legal marriage. No matter what their motive, no matter how they try to explain it, you can't tell me that Meri doesn't wake up (alone) in the middle of the night in soul-searing pain.
ReplyDeleteIn theory, the legal marriage document doesn't make a bit of difference to them - it is a sort of 'render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's' sort of deal (very, very loosely). They must be using the marriage certificate for the legal benefits, otherwise why should any one of them be married at all if it is the 'sealing' that is so important? This should mean, again in theory, that it makes no difference to them to have that legal document moved from one woman to another since the document itself has no meaning for them other than how they can use it to scam the system. IN THEORY.
DeleteI'm with redwood curtain, though. No matter how much they may sing the praises of 'sealing' and how little they may claim the marriage certificate means to them...alone at night, while her 'lover' is in someone else's bed and her only child is away forging her own life, this not so subtle sea-change has to hurt. It has to REALLY hurt.
I think kody will spin this somehow that robin has the youngest child. I don't think janelle cares, but Christine must be devastated. I think that's why they agreed to let her mom move in, to pacify her a bit. It's all so bizarre and manipulating.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll continue to number the wives in the order in which they were committed to Kody. Robyn will still be the 4th "wife", even though she now has the legal certificate of marriage. Anything else will just be too confusing. Or - maybe they'll stop referencing them as 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th. They'll simply all be Kody's wives. This is definitely a surprising situation for the viewers, and I hope TLC doesn't take forever to bring things up to date. I will probably continue to watch. Having my TV tuned to their show won't make a bit of difference in the number of viewers that get counted, as I'm not part of the Nielsen "family". Unless you have a Nielsen device attached to your TV or TIVO, or are currently keeping a Nielsen diary of what you watch, they have no idea whether you are watching or not. I understand that some people may refuse to watch as a form of protest, but the network and advertisers won't know unless you're officially a Nielsen family.
ReplyDeleteThis is one loony step too far. Counted or not, I'm out. Will read here for the snark. Bu I'm not rewarding them.
DeleteMe too! When I first started watching the show it was because I felt I did not understand the lifestyle and wanted to give these people the chance to show me that it could lead to a happy and productive life for all. Clearly instead they only confirmed that polygamy is horrible for the women and children and only seems to benefit a misogynist male! No more watching for me.
DeleteYou have the dates wrong. Kody and Meri filed for divorce in September. He and Robin got married in December.
ReplyDeleteOopsy my bad! Thanks for letting me know.
DeleteThis Twitter "timeline" paints a very sad picture. Thank you CJ for the enormous undertaking to compile and arrange it for us to see.
DeleteSo I guess this is Kody's idea of doing polygamy "right". He wasn't kidding when he said he doesn't feel responsible for any of his wive's feelings. That's because he doesn't feel responsible/remorse for any of his own actions. He is a sociopath. The fact that Robyn took part in this, is pure evil on her part. To add salt to the wounds they take a trip, which we can deduce is a Honeymoon..to Hawaii! Really?? That's shitty.
Even if they claim all practical, necessary reasons for this extreme decision...that trip..it makes it clear that they were celebrating the new union. They wanted this,so it happened. Both of them. It's sick.
My thoughts really are about the kids, especially the older ones. What do they think about this creepy new development. It is already evident that Kody is just a stand in for a real father. They don't have a bond with him. They don't value him (he doesn't value them,or want to know them) or truly respect him. Now after this, some may even despise him.
The real truth about what polygamy really is, has been part of who they are all along. No matter how they spin it. No matter how many uncomfortable, sketchy details they don't share on their scripted fiction show.
Kody...You are a doing a bang-up job at this polygamy thing. Us boring monogamists couldn't possibly keep up.
I read this on FB and I agree. It's the houses. It is time to refinance the balloon note and Robyn doesn't have the credit to do it. She even has a medical lien on her house. Kody has to marry her to prop up her credit. There may even be extra financial perks, such as claiming Robyn's kids as dependents and paying fake alimony to Meri to redistribute taxes.
DeleteWhat a coup for Mrs. "I'll-just-leave-my-bills-on-the-counter." (aka Robyn). She is rescued financially again and gets the status of legal wife.
I'll bet they don't address it on the show at all. I can just picture Janelle and Kody rolling their eyes and wondering why their fans would think it was a big deal. (Remember, that is what Janelle said when gossip mags were exposing that she had been married to Meri's brother before targeting Kody.)
Poor Meri, She marries the first boy who ever asked her on a date.
Her sister-in-law targets her husband. Her sister-in-law divorces her brother and she and Meri's husband pursue a relationship without Meri's knowledge. They only tell Meri when they are ready to marry, catching Meri by surprise.
Shortly thereafter, Meri discovers she is infertile in a culture where a woman's worth is defined by how many children she can bear for her husband.
Then, Kody falls for Robyn when his marriage to Meri is at an all-time low (as per Meri's statement to Natalie Morales). He falls in love with Robyn to the exclusion of his other wives. When Meri's only comfort (her daughter) leaves for college, she asks Kody to have another baby and he refuses . . . only to turn around and tell Robyn that wants more children with her.
Finally, Kody steals the only security blanket Meri has in this marriage . . . her status as legal wife.
Yes, Meri chose this but I'm sure she didn't realize it would be such a crappy life.
(Remember, that is what Janelle said when gossip mags were exposing that she had been married to Meri's brother before targeting Kody.)
DeleteOh my, and don't forget when Janelle said "I don't know what the big deal is" when she admitted that her mother married Kody's dad Winn, and when trying to explain why Kody required a $60K sports car - adding that they got it "cheap" (it must have fallen off a truck).
Ewwwwww, you said just about everything I was thinking. Meri's situation is very sad. She was raised in this insanity and I doubt if she will every leave. I wish she'd leave, convert to mainstream LDS and find herself a nice, normal husband.
DeleteHer total lack of self-worth due to her infertility in a culture that bases a woman's worth on her ability to have babies is painfully obvious. The only thing this woman had was her status as the only legal wife. Now that is gone. All her statements about not knowing where she fits in to the family now, not knowing her role certainly make a lot more sense.
Kody has always made me want to puke, but this is beyond even his penchant for self-centered, self-serving actions. This is just disgusting and I hope it derails the TLC gravy train for this group of morally bankrupt scumbags.
I went into lurker mode and I'm late to the party, but this is something else.
DeleteMy internal bullshit detector went off when Robyn did that "Merry Christmas, I changed my surname to Brown for your present, Kody!" thing in one of the episodes. I almost wrote it off, thinking she might've petitioned a change to Brown simply because she could. With a semi-legit reason, she could've petitioned to change her name to Robyn Alice Optimus-Prime if she felt like it, legally speaking.
But yeah, apparently the surname switcheroo was more legal than I thought. Kody - with his beady eyes, soft hands, and bad hair - and Robyn - the overgrown Mean Girl - deserve each other.
Jeeze, no wonder Madison could barely contain her disgust at Kody recently. Janelle, Christine. Get out. Seriously ladies, get out.
We managed to call this pretty early, didn't we? Apparently rank isn't a thing, polygamist men just would marry whomever happens to be his favorite at the time.
Should be interesting to see how TLC handles this now considering that this season's "show" has already been filmed and edited.
ReplyDeleteOf course, all hinges on whether this 'accidental" leak was just that...unexpected.!!?
If so, then the producers have some new scripting to churn out, and new talking heads to film.
If that is the case, then the sky's the limit on the various BS spins to come out.
Sobbin's first three kids needing legal protection
Sol and future Kody-kids needing legitimacy
Sobbin needing validation for all her troubles
It was planned to happen anyway, so why the big deal
Sobbin is more devoted to the Principle
Blah, Blah, etc, etc
Whatever they come up with it will HAVE to be all about Sobbin.
Now if it was already a done deal with full knowledge and/or cooperation of TLC, then this upcoming Sobbin Special, which is already filmed and ready to go, should be an interesting piece of creative manipulation.
Or.... they won't even reference it like they did with Brady's bankruptcy, just assuming the viewers are mindless and willing to accept any and all BS.
I do think this will be a fatal blow for the show.
Sure, maybe a lot of folks will stick around to watch the initial wreck to see the ambulances.....but then will drive away.
What I'm getting from these tweets is that the rest of the family was getting as far away from the happy couple as they could. Multiplying the love indeed.
ReplyDeleteThere are four women who all have deep emotional problems that live next door to each other and are getting laid by some weird a-hole. They all have children by him. Other than when filming a fictional TV show that is scripted by TLC, they have no interaction with each other. Their kids might be close as neighborhood children sometimes are but that about sums it all up. Who really knows what their real lives are except really f*cked up. Glad all the kids are getting the hell out of there as soon as they graduate. They come back to see their moms and siblings but not the dad, his mistresses /wife of the moment or their kids. What a soup sandwich!
ReplyDeleteI now think whatever was going on between Meri and Kody when Maddie graduated high school was the reason Maddie treated Kody so cold when she moved to Utah.
DeleteI think ALL of Janelle's kids have had no respect for Kody for a long time. Look at the high fake drama of leaving Utah so suddenly without even giving the kids time to say goodbye to friends. He is a major ass and they know it!
DeleteAnd maybe that's why Maddie chose to withdraw from social media this month? She knew this shit was gonna leak soon and didn't want to deal with more of her parents' drama.
DeleteI wonder where this leaves Mariah, the only kid who seemed set on polygamy. Her mom had the "queen" spot growing up.....but was cast aside. Maybe this will alter her perceptions.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad for Meri. I know Meri's not a nice gal, but this puts so much into context. Heck, maybe this was already being floated as an option when Christine had her meltdowns. They know their lives are effed up but they can't escape.
Robyn, you are an awful person.
Awful....and an awfully skilled opportunist.
DeleteMariah must be devastated. Her status of being the only child of the legal wife is gone. This might make her grow up a bit and not feel so entitled.
DeleteMaybe this will be the straw that will break Mariah's back and help her see that even being wife #1 won't ensure happiness or security. She's the adult kid still holding out for a polygamist husband, but seeing her mom go through this has GOT to make her stop and reconsider!
ReplyDeleteMeri and Mariah SHOULD stop and take note of what this all means, but I worry that they won't be honest about their feelings. I think they may cover it up and rationalize and make excuses and say that a legal divorce means nothing because she's still spiritually 'married' and the family unit hasn't changed; that it's only a piece of paper. I guess this will show their commitment to the family and how strong their faith and belief in polygamy is. It's abhorrent to me to think of the situation Meri is in, but I guess, if her belief in polygamy is as strong as she says it is, it's possible she's not affected by the divorce. A legal marriage is just a piece of paper, right? WE know that's not the case, but does she?
DeleteHow awful, if she's in polygamy and doesn't know if/how she can get out.
And, how awful, if she's in polygamy and doesn't know that there's more to a marriage than having to share your mate with other women; that marriage doesn't mean jealousy and heartache.
I do think this was financially driven. I can just picture an upcoming episode with the adults sitting around a mortgage consultant's office, where the threat of losing Robyn's home is being discussed and someone suggests Kody marry Robyn.
ReplyDeleteThen the couch session later will show Kody and Janelle acting like this is no big deal, this is merely a business transaction. Meri and Robyn will both be bawling to a degree that will rival their surrogate talks. And Christine will simply get up and walk off the set.
And I can't help but wonder if this is a forever arrangement, or if they didn't agree to reverse it at a later date? That's the only way I see Meri going along, is if this is temporary only.
I'm leaning towards a combo platter. The real reason is this is what Grody and Sobbin' have always wanted. The manipulation to get Meri to go along would have to be the kids and finances. Meri seems genuinely fond of and close to Dayton. If they dangled Dayton's security over her head, I could see Meri caving.
DeleteIt will probably be that they need to get Sobbin's kids away from their horrible, awful, mean REAL father and have Grody adopt them and the refi on Sobbin's house. Can't you just see them telling Meri how hard it would be for poor Dayton to move, he doesn't handle change well, he needs to stay in his home, etc?
Poor Meri, this is just sickening. She gets mind screwed by Grody on a regular basis.
Why not just make it temporary? Since it's crystal clear that Kody has zero regard for the sanctity of marriage, it makes perfect sense. Just revolve the marriage certificates like he revolves his "wives." I'm sure Kody sees nothing wrong with this.
DeleteIf I'm Meri and my husband tells me he needs to divorce me and marry the only wife of the group who will still bear his children and it's only "temporary," I agree with what someone above posted - no matter how we feel about Meri, she must be in tremendous pain. And Kody doesn't care. Not one bit.
I don't think Kody understands the meaning of the phrase "sanctity of marriage". But Robyn sure understands the power of the legal wife I bet cha...
DeleteLove is not an Equation - I can totally envision everything you wrote, you could produce the show. You hit the nail on the head, Janelle will co-sign everything.
DeleteWonder if this was why Meri was in tears when she needed to bring along another vehicle to move Annie? She seemed so emotional, but in hindsight, she was probably broken hearted and didn't want Kody to be angry at her to put any more distance between them. She really looked to Robyn when he left the room for some kind of assurance.
Long time lurker, finally posting.
Congrats Bianca on your first post! I'm glad to see you took the plunge!
DeleteWere they filming at the time of the wedding and Hawaii honeymoon? If they weren't then the producers didn't know about this. I wonder if they are filming now?
ReplyDeleteI would think their contract with TLC would stipulate any changes to the family like divorce, for example, would need to be notified to both the production company and TLC. If indeed Kody planned and executed his divorce and remarriage without TLC knowing about it, he's got some 'splainin to do. But the fact that TLC/Production put together an episode about Robyn's journey, scheduling the episode for Feb 8th, with the revelation of her marriage to Kody leaking a mere 7 days earlier...well sorry but this points more towards a deliberate leak for ratings purposes.
DeleteThe comment on the Sister Wives Uncensored FB group that started people researching was written so archaically, I might even say it was leaked by someone in the Browns kamp.
"But the fact that TLC/Production put together an episode about Robyn's journey, scheduling the episode for Feb 8th, with the revelation of her marriage to Kody leaking a mere 7 days earlier...well sorry but this points more towards a deliberate leak for ratings purposes."
DeleteTOTALLY agree !!!
"Documented journeys" usually do end with a final destination, don't they?!
The only reason that I can think of for this is TLC related. Seriously, they have to have something to keep viewers interested in their boring show! There's no valid reason that I can find to explain why they did this. Why would there be a "need" for him to adopt Robyn's kids when from what I understand he may not even be on the bc for all his other children? Even if that's the reason they use, why did he have to marry her? Didn't Brad Pitt (not that Kody is even comparable to Brad) adopt Angelina's children when they weren't married? How would it help if the cause was her balloon mortgage payment and her bad credit. He still has financial liability for Meri's house which I would think would be just as much of a point against your ability to repay as having bad credit.
DeleteI'm glad Walking Dead comes back this Sunday, stick a fork in me - I'm done with the Brown clowns. I'll still hang out here though!
So of course Robyn got to have 2 extravagant weddings & 2 honeymoons & she's only been there 5 yrs. And the ones who have been their from the beginning got the raw deal of it all.
DeleteHas he and Christine ever gone on any trip .. ever???
DeleteJust looked at my OnDemand schedule.. The Feb 16th episode is entitled -First a Verdict, Then a Lawyer. Oh I cant wait to see how they spin this ridiculousness!
DeleteI agree that the show "spin" on all this could quite possibly be as you describe.
ReplyDeleteFive years of SW proves that there is *always* high drama when a spin is occurring.
(SW spin....aka... pure BS
The super fans don't seem happy...hopefully this will backfire and "spin" them right off tv! They've been so full of BS that I'm not sure even a new wife or Robyn having triplets could save them at this point!
DeleteActually, I think that Robyn will have to have triplets, so that Kody will have sired more children than David Jessop. That's how he'll erase the "ick factor" she must no longer carry.
DeleteYeah I also think this is gonna backfire. Viewers esp their super fans want answers. Real honest ones & not some BS spins like we usually get. After the divorce, Meri should've high tailed it out of there but we all know she won't BC they're doing it for some financial scam & gain. Also Kody is gonna have to explain WHY he chose to marry #4 of only 5 yes & not marry #2 or even #3 of 20+ yrs.
DeleteI hope this scam of kody & krew backfires & they lose their show.
Just thought of something.....During the last "tell all", Christine abruptly left the couch and it was explained that it was jealously over baby issues regarding Robyn and Kody. And that was the end of the season with Robyn's big announcement that was a flop. Makes me wonder a bit. And of course...that is what this is designed to do....look at how much speculation is swirling regarding this.
ReplyDeleteA lot of the posts seem to assume that there will be another season of Sister Wives, but I'm not so sure.
ReplyDeleteThis season seemed slapped together, with recycled story lines. And, as we noted, the producers showed Kody in the worst light almost every chance they got. The Robyn episode may just be a cheap episode of flashbacks, her family movies and a couch interview. There have been no situations where there could even be a cliffhanger or a fake phone call.
I can see this divorce as the Browns' knowing that the gravy train is over, or about to end, and doing whatever they want, regardless of what their fans would think, or what it would do to the show. I just don't know - but, I don't think the marriage shuffle is going to guarantee their longevity. If it were commonplace or acceptable, I feel that we would have caught hints of it in Polygamy USA, or outside of this show.
Unless the family (which I can't see happening!!) wants to end the show and their contract is up, as long as the show is getting high enough ratings, they'll continue to film. TLC is in this to make money and if the advertisers see the ratings are high enough, they'll keep buying ads and TLC will keep filming.
DeleteI think this is the true reason why Christine was sooooooo upset during the summer camping trip. They would have been talking about the divorce/marriage during that time period.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on that Anon 9:49! I'm also wondering if it also wasn't the reason for her walking out on the supposed "Tell All" show at the end of last season. I've always thought those were filmed more up to date than the other episodes. This divorce/marriage idea surely was up for discussion long before it ever actually happened.
DeleteI suppose it's possible the divorce was already being discussed and Robyn and Kody wanted to hint about things to come or talk about it and that's why Christine walked off last season. Knowing what we do know, it sure makes one question what we saw that didn't make much sense at the time.
DeleteMy guess for the divorce-marriage drama is they are getting sued by Sobbin's 1st husband for defamation and custody . There is no way he will take the Brown's shit talking for much longer.
ReplyDeleteI can't see how Kody and Robyn getting married would help that in any way.
DeleteAnother good theory. I hope the heck he is. Funny I'm rooting for a purity robbing Jessop.
DeleteMeri's fainting spells.
ReplyDeleteRobyn's bitter-sweet tweet.
Janelle's indifference.
Christine's absolute silence.
Not ONE person in a "family" of six adults (if you count Mindy!) Takes the time to say anything along the lines of "thanks for taking one for the team, Meri," or anything remotely like that.
That, to me, sums this bunch up. A complete charade. The first 15 years or so were quite possibly about the religion for Meri, about the adventure for Janelle, and about the "family" life for Christine. But the last 5+ have been about nothing but the fame and $$.
Also...in my opinion...
ReplyDeleteKody and Robyn are most likely monogamists now.
He is a man with three ex-wives.
One is an empty nester. She is hurting because her long marriage ended in divorce. He visits to see how she's doing, since he was married to her for so long. Once, he slept with her out of guilt. His new wife holds that over his head. He won't make that mistake again.
The second ex-wife is a fond old buddy with whom he shares older kids still at home. He goes to her house to make shared custody easier for the kids. He teases her with PDA, because he can, because they are still friends. They both enjoy their relationship as-is and enjoy their time together, however, she really does hate all of his other exes because they are basket cases. She doesn't tolerate fools. (Except her ex.)
The third ex-wife is bitter. She has a tiny one still at home plus several others. He also goes to her house to make shared custody easier on the kids, but he is antsy there because this ex-wife is constantly torn between trying to seduce him and trying to kill him. They fight constantly but for the sake of the kids try to keep up the appearance of friendship. But he really does despise her. He would NEVER accidentally sleep with her like he did with his first ex-wife and that makes her insane with jealousy. She hates the new wife. The other exes worked together to help raise each others kids and that made marriage to a serial monogamist easier to bare, but this new wife won't play the game.
The new wife is a real wife. What she always wanted. Plus a TV star. Plus she has a mansion. Sure, her husband has ex wives, but don't all sugar daddies have that? She's cool with it--so long as he doesn't make the mistake of sleeping with the first one again. She will NOT forgive that twice.
Wow, that's really good! Prob more coherent than what's going on.
DeleteWow, yeah, no idea if it's really true but very plausible.
DeleteYou could say instead that Kody and Robyn are Monogamists, and that he was a married man with two lovers for several years, but has recently ended those three previous relationships, if you didn't want to call them wives.
DeleteI've seen Real Housewives episodes with about that many exes running around, and all getting along better than these bozos do. In fact, once I made an ex-spouse chain that linked Kim Kardashian to Paris Hilton as cousins by marriage...
If these Klowns think they have some kind of "better than the monogamists" kind of morality going on, I beg to differ. They are about as Godly as Beverly Hills.
He is a man with one ex-wife and two baby mamas.
DeleteCloser to the truth than what they present for sure.
DeleteCharlotte, good observations and points! It does seem more monogamist than anything else. Dysfunctional, but still much more along the lines of monogamists.
DeleteRight? The more I see/hear/read the more they seem like a highly functioning "broken" family. If Meri, Janelle, and Christine all had husband's of their own we might actually applaud them all for how well they got along in spite of Kody's inability to stick to one girl. I certainly know more than one person in real life who has to deal with an ex wife and a baby mama or two in her married life.
DeleteCharlotte, that was a beautiful piece of writing. My feelings are in agreement with what you are saying in every respect.
DeleteMy one alteration in regard to the third wife..."He f*cks her once in awhile to show her who's boss. It zeros out her angry thermometer and restores his superior position."
I'm not up on financial scams, so I can't speculate on things as well as many of you. I do think it probably has to do with the houses as many have observed that "piper" is marching to the cuddlesac to be paid. But these people seem to have a handbook on scamming more detailed than the IRS. Whatever financial hocus pocus they are trying, I do think Sobbin took full advantage to leverage up. She may divorce Kody while TLC money is on the books and THEN ask for her trade-up husband.
ReplyDeleteI do know something about custody battles. Even if they try to spin a sympathy ploy about Sobbin's children, this "legal" marriage would not make it better. They have a TV show that shows that the living situation has not changed in no shape or form. If I was David Jessop (?), I'd bring in the kids being filmed, esp. Day-un. I had to testify in a case where the father (who never much cared about his son until divorce, just wanted to get back at mother), brought in photos of a Flow-be haircut as evidence of her being unfit. For you younger ones, the flowbe basically sucked your hair into a vacuum cleaner to be cut.
Brown girls, open your eyes and please do not submit to this system. A loving God would never want this for anyone. The commitment service called them the Kody Brown family, not the Brown family. He can shuffle the deck as he chooses.
LaPetiteTerror, I think you are on to something with the constant "sayings" on Twitter. When you are young, they are expressions of trying to establish who you are, These women have arrested development. I think they also need these "be sweet" mottos on every wall to remind them of the facade they bury their pain behind.
Be nice if the cameras messed up some fraud they pulled. Hate Dr. Phil but would love to see him get his hands on them.
orange defc3
ReplyDeleteCJ, is "orange defc3" an indication that your living room is under attack? I'll take a shift at the cauldron of boiling tar, if you want. ;)
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily under attack. I've just turned down the lights a bit so those nutty goblins out there will go play elsewhere.
DeleteBoiling tar! Takes me back to the good old days! Thanks for the offer of help, it's appreciated!
CJ, I can only imagine some of the craziness you have to deal with behind the scenes...
DeleteThanks again for always providing a peaceful, fun, goblin-free living room for us to visit!
CJ, They'll get bored....eventually.
DeleteThanks for all you do..and put up with !
I agree..Thank you. I am naive I guess about the nastiness of the other sites as I rarely venture beyond the comfort of the 2 Living Rooms. The few times I have, I leave SMH. You work hard to keep us up to date and get harassed for your trouble. Thanks for always spotting the goblins and politely showing them the door.
DeleteAnd thanks to all of you and everyone visiting my living rooms. I appreciate it!
DeleteI agree. I appreciate how you keep an eye on the defcon and you sift through some of the crazier posts. You do such a great job on this Blog, it is my one stop destination for all info SW. Thank you!
DeleteIs that close to def con 5 level? LOL
DeleteThanks for keeping us safe, CJ. Let us know if we should don our tin-foil beanies and arm our wristband laser shields to help defend your living room from the attacks. Loyal soldiers, we are!
When the going gets tough...Cynical, you have shown great skill in shining a path of leadership through the valley of polygamist reality tv. You could totally produce (with great skill, I believe) a 'scripted' reality show about polygamists that we would all want to see. A film company should pay you some big bucks.
DeleteI want to see a couch session with Kody and the Kodettes, explaining this latest "twist." I want to hear Kody sit there and explain why he had to divorce Meri and marry Robyn, and I want to see all of the expressions on the faces of all 4 wives while he does it. And I'm betting we won't get it - they will sweep it under the rug and mention it only in passing.
ReplyDeleteMy guess as to how it would go down - Janelle would gaze impassively into space, showing zero emotion. Meri would cry, making tracks through her orange makeup. Robyn would "pretend" cry in order to show false support to the pain that Meri is feeling, and Christine would get up and leave.
But still, I want to see it happen.
Kody probably fancies himself a "player' especially now that he has hobnobbed with a few mostly B-list celebrities. He is a star, feeling very important and potent !!
ReplyDeleteSo it's kind of funny that he has now married the least articulate of all the harem. The one who has trouble even enunciating, let alone formulating coherent words. The one who can't clean her house or care for her kids.
The one who sobs if a 12 year old boy doesn't fawn all over her, and pouts if she can't put on her layers of mascara at a campsite.
Looking back, Hunter was a damn good judge of character.
The wife who has *such* compassion and love for her soon to be "sisters" that she insisted on a deep throat kiss before Kodyass left to be with Christine in labor.
And why did she do that ??? Because she didn't care ...and because the camera was rolling !!!
Most women in her situation would "have known" how uncool, how un- sisterwifey that move was. However even back then, Sobbin was loving the camera as much as Kodyidiot does.
I never liked watching her from day one.
There was something about her...stealth, insincerity, a carefully veiled smugness, all packaged to look like a delicate, sensitive, easily to weep (oh, don't hurt me) humble little "last" wife.
When in reality she was focused on getting top billing and seeing the other three become irrelevant and excess baggage, Remember, "she" and she alone tried to make the family prosperous with the Junk Closet. And they bailed on her. Revenge shall be hers.
Sobbin is the kind of woman that other women should never trust !!
I'm embarrassed to admit this, but hey...among friends, right? In the beginning, I thought Robyn was sincere. I didn't catch on for a while. Of course now it seems obvious and I can't believe I wasn't clued in from the get go.
DeleteAgnostida,
DeleteShe *was* very convincing in the beginning. Or at least tried to be.
Agnostida,
DeleteMe too! I thought she was wonderful and sweet and sincere. Boy, was I wrong.
I was one of the believers also. Lol not anymore. She seemed sooo sincere. I thought how profound she was, I felt badly for her cuz she seemed to not want to hurt the wives. She really came into the situation by herself, while the other ladies had each other to console. She seemed empathetic, was urging Kody to be a better husband to them. Now I feel scammed. Lol She jumped over all the wives, and got top billing. Sooo sneaky, sooo conniving...
DeleteOn the subject of Robyn, it always hacks me off when she is so vocally against a 5th wife. I mean she *pretends* that she doesn't want a 5th to disrupt things further, but I think she would be the MOST insanely jealous one of them all. I think she enjoys being the favorite, prettiest, wife (although I think she looks a tad like a witch).
DeleteAmused, your assessment of Robyn is spot on "stealth, insincerity, a carefully veiled smugness, all packaged to look like a delicate, sensitive, easily to weep (oh, don't hurt me) humble little "last" wife." I've seen her type before in AUB. Passive aggressive, "poor little me, I need a man to protect me" types. Polygamy is hell anyway, and women like that take it to new depths.
DeleteI don't feel sorry for Meri. She brought Robyn in to get back at Janelle and Christine. It backfired on her. It's a case of be careful of the hole you dig for somebody cause you might end up falling in it yourself. Now her sad history of being the wallflower who finally got noticed by a "cute" boy who just happened to want to be a plyg ... Well I can see how that can make folks feel sorry for her. She wanted to keep her man and all this plyg stuff has been shoved down her throat since she was born. I get that. But on this show Meri has shown herself to be jealous (she admits to it constantly), mopey (always crying and a Debbie Downer), selfish (wanting what everyone has even though money was tight or she didn't actually need it), raised a brat (no explanation necessary), wimpy (won't stand up to Kody's favoritism of Robyn and won't settle this thing with Janelle once and for all). Just admit all the mistakes, apologize where necessary, get it off your chest and out your system. And move on. You are not responsible for how the other 4 nitwits take it. Just do your part and clear your conscience. There is still time to be happy. But it is probably outside that cul-de-sac.
ReplyDeleteGood analysis and great advice!
DeleteI forgot to add lazy ( would leave her job to travel with Kody even though they needed the money, plus she still only worked part time when she did work.
DeleteI think the description you gave of Meri also fits Janelle and Christine with the one exception of the weepiness. Other than that, it fits all three.
DeleteI agree!! I think both Meri and Janelle are right and wrong. Its not supposed to work! Thats why polygamy just doesnt work. But they need to address it, apologize and Meri needs to keep it pushing. She has basically one adult daughter, just leave and dont look back. I think theres a reason why she only had one child, take the blessing and run!!!
DeleteCynical Jinx, you better check out the SisterWives Facebook page. A particular commenter is bashing you. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up, KimmerBee! "She's just upset because they dropped that house on her sister..."
Delete(Wasn't that quote from Beetlejuice?)
Imitation, even lame attempts, is the highest form of flattery.
DeleteI guess I'm just naive...what the heck is there to bash? We are openly talking about a television show. There are no death threats or filthy rants. Just folks yakking about television characters. I'm clueless sometimes.
DeleteRegardless of the motivations for Meri and Kody's legal divorce, this may have serious ramifications for the entire family, especially the children still living at home. Even the most amiable divorce, where both parents agree to co-parent and don't badmouth one another in front of the children, is jarring for the kids. As for Kody choosing Robyn over Janelle and Christine, both of whom have "seniority"--if I were either Janelle or Christine, I'd view Kody's decision as a real slap in the face and be completely re-evaluating my relationship with him, and with the rest of the adults. Kody and Robyn are made for each other, IMO--self-absorbed, ignorant, and completely lacking in critical thinking skills. If the LDS teaching that spirit children "choose" their parents is accurate, the Brown kids made a real error in judgment choosing their parents.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree but even with them reevaluatin their relationship there don't really have the means to leave...Christine especially. In another life I think she would have been an excellent teacher (after all she did homeschool all the kiddos for quite some time). Ahhh this makes me miss the early seasons of the show when everyone seemed to innocent.
DeleteI notice they are slamming you, CJ over on FB and declaring this as a triumph of the trolls ("as she calls us"). How does this crap in any way reflect bad on you? Were you supposed to spend 24/7 sifting thru Vegas legal records in case you stumbled across something. To me this seems to confirm that this was no accident, somebody had to point someone in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThis is All about the Tea website insider theory. http://allaboutthetea.com/2015/02/02/sisterwives-exclusive-kody-meri-browns-divorce/
Personally, I thank you. I appreciate being able to share my WTF comments and not get ripped a new one.
Emma, you know, some days people are just not at their best. So we take the high road, and simply ignore them and wish them the best.
DeleteAs we use to say in high school, "They are to be pitied, not ridiculed." And if that doesn't work, we drop a house on their sister.
None of the so-called practical/financial reasons make any sense for his divorce and marriage to Robyn. Why would Kody marry Robyn so he could add her children to the health insurance when none of the bankruptcy records show he ever covered his own biological children with health insurance? And the divorce papers probably require Robyn's ex to cover his children with health insurance.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Kody increase his health insurance costs, assuming he has health insurance in his name and hasn't made his "wives" take out the policies instead under their names? Since he is not married to Christine or Janelle they may be required to take out the policy in their name anyway. It will be more expensive to care for Robyn's three children if they are there all the time including summers and holidays and he gets no child support. If the man wants money, marrying Robyn and adopting her children (which involves more attorneys fees) is not the way to get it.
Why would he refinance the houses in his name rather than making all his wives refinance? And how do we know that the cost of refinancing outweighs the benefits. i.e., that they will be able to lower their payments enough to cover the attorneys fees and the mortgage fees? And how do we know that they have to refinance at all? Nobody has actually pulled the loan documents and determined that they actually need to refinance. Maybe they don't. Maybe they have a three-year ARM loan, in which case, it hasn't adjusted yet. And they will probably end up getting a raise from TLC just when it does, obviating any need to refinance.
And why does Kody care now all the sudden whether the divorce decree said no overnite guests?? He had a baby with Robyn! That ship has sailed!
Everyone is giving Kody and Robyn too much credit. When ratings started to go down, he panicked and he divorced Meri, and married Robyn and he did not care how much it hurt his other baby mamas.
I am not sure that this show coming up about Robyn will talk about them getting legally married. I am partially convinced that they will never talk about it. What are they going to say? Our spiritual ceremony and commitment ceremony were not serious, were just a warm-up, were preliminary for the real thing, were a step in our continuing journey? We really wanted a legal ceremony with a honeymoon to Hawaii all along? They are such fakes.
Wow! This explains the Robyn's Journey as Kody's Wife Special. Christine must be suicidal which is probably what Kody wants anyway. I'm at a loss for words.
ReplyDeleteWe all agree that everything revolves around Kody. If something changes, it's because Kody WANTS it. Robyn is not educated, but she is street smart. I have it all figured out. Robyn gave Kody an ultimatium. Make me the legal wife or else no more sex, hence no more kids. She quickly had a baby for him after their "spiritual" union. To have him hooked. Then, she could manipulate him to her heart's desire. He's so obviously horny for her that he'll do whatever she says. There will be no explanation to the viewers. I doubt that there was an explanation to Meri. Meri does whatever Kody dictates. I do agree with Monogamous Charlotte, Kody isn't having sex with the other three women. After this show is over, Kody will tire of Robyn. She'll be in for a shock when he finds a younger one. The other three wives will laugh themselves to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you're thinking, but I also think that this move of divorcing Meri & marrying Robyn was just to throw a bone to the viewers. As we all know this show has been over for a long time and I think it had come to the point that Kody really needed to take another wife or people lose interest. Most already have anyway..I know Robyn would never stand for that, so they came up with this plot! Now I'm just waiting for Robyn to inform Kody that neither she nor he are going to be practicing polygamy from now on. Bet they become boring monogamists....
DeleteI have been thinking about this all day and here is my guess: Wasn't Mariah's college like 5 times more expensive than the other kid's colleges? Remember the drama about how to pay for it? Remember that she did end up getting a *partial* scholarship? Then it was just dropped and she was in? I think that Kody cut a deal with Meri. He promised to pay for Mariah's 4 years in college (and many more in Med School) if she would divorce him. I never viewed Meri as selfless in all the years I have been watching this show. In fact, I thought she was horribly selfish on the house/wetbar thing. Anyway, she gets the house in Lehi (that's why she is always checking on it), she moves to the same state as Mariah. Kody gets to be with Robyn. Just a guess. I think this is the only way that Meri would be willing to divorce Kody (if it involved the welfare of Mariah because she clearly really loves her and would do anything for her). Amy
ReplyDeleteThe school gave her more of a complete ride with all the attention from the show. At least the first year. They declare chapter 11 all the time. What money does he have to pay it all? What guarantee that he will pay it? If she wants his money it's better to be the legal wife. Especially with new wife's shopaholic and chapter 11 tendancies.
DeleteTotally agree--Mariah gets in-state tuition, plus more opportunity for scholarships and loans when dad's income is no longer listed. The question to me remains is, why did he marry Robyn, the one who is so anti-monogomy?
DeleteThis is an interesting concept. I, too, have been thinking about the motives behind it and it boggles my mind. I wonder what would happen to her mc mansion if she left Vegas and moved back to Lehi.
DeleteThat is an interesting idea. It's at least as plausible as anything else being said.
DeleteRight now it's private school. Mariah could get an apartment like maddie if she wanted to establish residency for a change to a state school.
DeleteRight now it's private school. Mariah could get an apartment like maddie if she wanted to establish residency for a change to a state school.
DeleteFrom what I remembered, Mariah had planned on attending Westminster for 2 years, then transferring to the U of Utah for the next 2 years. I remembered looking up the requirements for residency and basically she should have Utah residency - car registered in UT, UT DL, living in UT majority of time (she already lives in an apartment with roommates).
Maddie is actually in a dorm apartment building. I think that's how she described it.
I was thinking about the divorce this morning. If Kody divorced Meri and married Robyn to adopt her kids (which is the best reason IMO), then his name would be on their birth certificates. I started thinking how his name is probably not on the birth certificates of most of his kids (all of Janelle and Christine's kids). We don't know this for sure, but Christine was receiving food benefits during season one. Federal SNAP guidelines say that two people cannot share an address AND have minor children together and not be considered in the same household IE Kody would have to be included on her SNAP benefit since they lived at the same address. This not only would have screamed polygamy (and not been "safe") but she probably would not have qualified. Meri's income would have to be considered as well, as married people cannot live in the same household and not be included in a SNAP benefit. This says to me that Christine did not have a father on the birth certificate and claimed to be a tenant of Kody and Meri (I think her bankruptcy paperwork alluded to this as well). So anyway, I couldn't help but wonder how this would affect his kids psychologically, if his former step-kids are now regarded as legally his while his biological kids are not. Can't be psychologically good for Christine or Janelle either.
ReplyDeleteIf the show two weeks from now is titled "A verdict, then a lawyer," my imagination tells me that the Brown spin will be that some outside force prompted a LAWYER to suggest the divorce/new marriage for some reason. They didn't WANT to, they HAD to. And because of their beliefs and the sanctity of their SPIRITUAL UNION, the legal marriage is nothing but a formality of paperwork--pffft...unimportant to their superior values. SPIN COMPLETE. *brushes palms*
ReplyDeleteOr the Lawyer could be about Dayton's accident, or about custody issues.
DeleteRC, I would agree with you if I didn't think that this was filmed in the summer. I would imagine that verdict teaser has something to do with the polygamy court case. I agree I am getting a little dizzy over here from all the poor persecuted polygamists spinning. I hope we are both wrong and kody needs a lawyer because all of the wives except robyn are leaving and suing the heck out of him! Lol!
DeleteI have another comment. I am the one that broke the news about Robyn's name change prior to the start of that particular season. I remember that I checked the public records due to Robyn posting something about how she had an unusual special surprise at Christmas or something like that. Anyway, I think if Meri had been OK with this divorce, and it had been done solely to help Robyn financially, she would've posted a cryptic tweet that said something like "Big changes around here, but not to worry, there is still a lot of love between us sister-wives." Or something like that. And some of us sleuths would've figured it out. But no clue, at all. She was in pain. And it appears they were keeping it from TLC as well. Can anyone figure that out? Whether TLC was filming or how much TLC knew?? If TLC was out of the loop, I am 99% they are toast.
ReplyDeleteI think Meri will stick around as long as the show lasts. Might as well cash in after all the horrible years she spent in this nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI never understood the big deal of Meri getting her own big house. She was the wife. And all this blather about being fair and equitable to all wives needed to be played out some way. As it is if Kody has his name on half she only has half a house. What I want to know is how she can go back to Lehi aren't they waiting to arrest her for polygamy . Ya right!
ReplyDeleteI didnt either. Janelle and Christine had 6 kids each. That was their choice. I didnt think Meri should have a smaller house just because it was just her and Mariah. Did she go overboard on all the amenities?? She sure did. Lol But Janelle telling her shes taking away finite resources from the others was silly. Arent they always in the red anyways??
DeleteMy online TV Guide only goes to Sat. 2/14, so I don't know what they'll say about the show on the 15th. However, for the first hour next Sunday (the 8th) it shows "Anthropologists Move In", and the second hour is titled "Robyn - Behind The Scenes". However, the description is the same for both: "Christine's mom is moving in as her two oldest daughters prepare to set out on their own. Meanwhile, Meri comforts Robyn, who continues to have problems with her ex-husband."
ReplyDeleteQuestion: does anyone know the real time of the reunion taping vs the timing of the marriage/divorce? Maybe this is the real reason christine walked off stage leaving Robyn stink faced...
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing of all this divorce & marriage junk it got me thinking about some of the past episodes. I seem to remember on the last r.v. trip, when the pawn shop owner gave them the print to give to the other plyg family, Christine said something about keeping it if it offended the other family and both Robyn & Kody laughed, and said something about a fifth wife would bother Christine more than any other wife.I thought it was awfully rude of both of them, considering they knew how much Robyn's joining the family had hurt her. So much for sister wives making life nice huh?I bet they were planning this even when that episode was filmed.
ReplyDeleteYour theory makes the most sense. They are remodeling the Lehi house as a single dwelling and that would get her out of the "hood". I would not want to live in that cul de sac with my ex living next door with his new wife. There is nothing there for Meri anymore.
ReplyDeleteDid Kody really take Robyn on a trip to Hawaii without the other wives? His favoritism is almost as disgusting as the other wives letting him treat them like garbage.
ReplyDeleteI almost believe the story on All About the Tea that says Robyn gave Kody an ultimatum to make her the legal wife or she was out and that Meri is just putting on an act for the show. None of the other reasons make much sense to me. This family is going to crumble sooner rather than later.
Thank for all your hard work CJ, I expected pregnancy news, not a divorce.
No matter what the speculation or theories are, it all comes down to money. Money, money, money and nothing but money.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I really have to thank CJ... your blog is so much fun, i appreciate all the effort you put in... the explosion of comments on the past two posts goes to show how many readers you have... thanks for the laughs...
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure is all mine, Hagar's Harem. Enjoy!
DeleteI totally agree that Robyn and Kody are most probably monogamous by now. Robyn is much too controlling and passive-aggressive to share her husband with other women. Don't forget that she was monogamous in her first marriage as well.
ReplyDeleteI am heart broken for both Meri and Christine.
Thank you CJ for this wonderful forum. I love the insights, the humor, and the real sense of caring that is present her in your living room.
What are your thoughts on this: http://allaboutthetea.com/2015/02/02/sisterwives-exclusive-kody-meri-browns-divorce/
ReplyDeleteAs far as the divorce, I hate to bust anyone's bubble, but it is pretty common in plyg culture for them to play "musical marriage" depending on where they get the biggest bang for their buck... I doubt TLC will even mention the divorce, just like there was no mention of Brady's bankruptcy... after reading all the posts and really giving it some thought, what if i said, marrying Robyn is a 5 year "pre-bankruptcy" financial plan... the "Closet" is incorporated under Robyn's name, as her husband both Kody and Robyn can offset TLC income with any losses from SW Closet, while simultaneously running up debt to support the family (like they've done in the past)... when the gravy train ends, and they eventually need to declare bankruptcy, it wont be that difficult because Robyn is the ONLY one who has not declared bankruptcy before...it sounds convoluted, but BOTH kody and meri's bankruptcy as well as jenelle's bankruptcy cited a family business that went bad... this is a tried and true Brown Family financial plan...
ReplyDeletePerhaps it IS common in their "culture" however most of the viewers/fanbase/what have you are regular monogamous people who believe in the sanctity of marriage and this bit of info was never divulged before in the show. Let's see what their fans think now.
DeleteYep, got to agree with you the Browns are creatures of habit...But I can't believe how heartsick Meri must have been to give up her legal wife status. I'm sure she will say that her spiritual marriage is what's important but that must sting knowing she only gave Kody one spirit baby, and her coveted title of legal wife - Mrs. Kody Brown belongs to another woman! She must be gutted (watching too much BBC TV).
DeleteAnd Mariah must be devastated...
Just read the article in allaboutthetea.com where it said that Robyn gave Kody an ultimatum to choose between her and Meri.
ReplyDeleteEven having observed how manipulative and self-serving Robyn is, I am still blown away by her evil behavior (if the story is true). And these women were pretending to be "sister wives"? Wow! This is mind blowing!
Barbara, I think the last 72 hours have been mind blowing!
DeleteDon't forget to check out the update today! Interesting information!!
ReplyDelete"Know what I'm saying?"
ReplyDeleteOh Yeah, CJ, I hear you loud and clear !!
This whole thing REEKS of a crafted, calculated PR stunt
And you're, right, by that 2 week old post producing no fallout, no chatter.....someone HAD to do something quick to set off the fireworks in time before Sunday's SnS. (Sobbin's non-Special)
And no FF'ing way is TLC missing from this scam. They are in it for sure.
It looks like TLC wanted it to evolve into a major shitstorm online so that then *they* would look sandbagged too.
So who pulled the trigger.....??? My vote would be a paid insider for TLC.
No wait, maybe it was Magic Mona, moonlighting for some spare cash.
Kidding aside, this was deliberate and planned to look like a leak so both the Browns and TLC could feign innocence and then gravely claim that the seriousness of the matter warranted privacy and discretion. And then it will be something like ..."But now that it has been put out there., well, we will carry on business as usual."
Of course, .no matter what the faux story turns out to be, or alluded to be.....
we all know it will be BS.
And just like the shows in seasons past, Robyn's episode on 2/8 will not even mention the divorce or remarriage. AND the show will have the highest ratings for the season.
DeleteI was willing to believe it was something secret viewers discovered, but your update combined with the little snot nosed folks on facebook acting like they did something magical with "discovering" this information makes me think for sure it was a purposeful leak. Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteIF the tea site insider info is correct and Sobin pitched a hissy fit then Koduche's balls are beyond shriveled or shrunk they've been completely removed and Sobin has them safely locked away inside one of those baseball display cases. (Imagine the KUWK episode where Bruce Jenner had to sleep in the garage and ask Kris if he could have his balls back!! AND we all know what happened to that marriage).
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens this week and next weekend on the upcoming episodes I have to admit I'll be watching and laughing and thankful I'm only married to 1 person.
Mariah's car isn't registered in Utah. That's why Meri had to drive to Annie's, in order to trade cars with Mariah, so Meri could get the license renewed in Nevada.
ReplyDeleteIf Mariah is driving Marian's car and Mariah is in Utah, why isn't the car registered for Utah? Is it Meri's car that Mariah uses? Most DMVs in the world renew by mail or online.
DeleteNot sure what the rules are for posting links here, but if you google "Kody Brown Divorce", and click on The Inquisitr link, you'll see one of the worst pictures ever of Robyn, with Meri sitting beside her looking aghast. Check it out for a laugh.
ReplyDeleteIt's the Browns. And TLC. Of course we buy a "shenanigans" scenario. Anything is possible with these clowns.
ReplyDeleteHere's an exercise for y'all:
Fast forward 30 years and check in on our Brown Klown friends, shall we?
Meri will be fine - once she stops capitulating to Mariah's every expensive whim. And gives up the McMansion. She can get her degree, settle into a nice, respectable human services job (preferably with benefits - she's gonna need them), and live somewhat comfortably as the independent, in charge, single woman that she's now claiming to be on Twitter.
Janelle will be fine. She'd be better if she hadn't sacrificed her previous retirement account to Kody's wild desert fantasies. But she has a work ethic (and some social security coming - if it survives), skills, and a degree. Hey, she can work until she drops, if needed. She's a survivor (whether or not she acts like it).
Robyn is Mrs. Kody Brown. Wa-freakin-hoo. That and a buffalo nickel will get you, well, exactly what you deserve. Until the next shiny new plaything comes along.
Christine. Christine, Christine, Christine. Poor, deluded, Princess Christine. Maybe she can live off of her mother's social security until Mama passes. If Christine's really lucky, Janelle may pity her and find a corner room where they can share old age together. Better Janelle than one of Christine's poor kids. They've suffered enough.
You hitched your starry wagon to a wildly unpredictable, scamming doofus - one with no work ethic and one who clearly doesn't love and value you as you deserved. Good luck. You'll need it.
The trickery, the shenanigans, the constant social media facades, the pretending to get along with each other, the willingness to share your "husband," the fact that there are so many children involved, the financial struggles, having to put on airs for couch interviews with women you secretly can't stand and a man who doesn't respect you...all in the name of religion.
ReplyDeleteI simply cannot imagine having to wake up every single day and deal with all of that, knowing that if you leave, you've lost your celestial home, but if you stay, you will be in misery for the rest of your life. How do they get out of bed in the mornings?
Except Robyn, of course - I'm sure she slips out of bed in full makeup, dressed in Victoria's Secret lingerie, whilst birdies tweet outside her window and rays of sunshine beam directly on her smug face.
TMZ is now giving this story some coverage. they are attributing the divorce to Kody bringing Robyn's kids into the family. I'm betting someone at TLC leaked that to them for a ratings boost. I bet Meri feels like someone just dumped cold mock tapioca pudding on her head.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't doubt the production company and Brown's are modeling their storyline after Big Love, I do kind of wonder if anyone bothered to tell Kody how Big Love ends...
ReplyDeleteAh, LaPetite! That is a good one.
DeleteI was a fan of the Browns...until now. This news has disgusted me. I am disappointed and feel so sad for the kids. How could they do this?! Robyn is a snake.
ReplyDeleteSince you broke the breaking news on 1/31 CJ, I've been checking Google News daily to see who else is running this story with an eye towards the mainstream entertainment websites. Finally, today, TMZ has picked it up citing "we're told he wants to bring Robyn's kids into the family, where they'll have more security." Looks like the TLC publicity machine is ratcheting up the leaks in advance of Sobyn's tell-all.
ReplyDeleteSo TMZ has a story that Kody did this to to bring Robyn's kids into the family so they'll have more security. Looks like possibly the adoption route?
ReplyDeleteThey're not going to openly admit they're doing it for tax reasons or to continue to "bleed the beast". If anything, they'll say its for Robin's kids or something "safe" like that.
ReplyDeleteOk y'all. It's been 3 days and I just can't get over it!
ReplyDeleteSo remember during the last tell all when Christine walked off the set? During the live tweet she tweeted "why did I walk off the set? It's complicated, but it's not because of Robyn wanting a baby.."
Then later she tweeted something about needing to wrap her head around an issue. Perhaps even THEN they were planning this and not saying a word about it on their "reality" tv show.
I don't know y'all. So many questions that I'm afraid we'll never get an honest answer for. But there's one thing I know for sure, this was NOT a family decision. This was a kody and Robyn plotting behind everyone's back decision.
