We all need to support the rights of all people- all races, all religions, all ethnicities, all sexes, all sexual orientations. I have always deeply believed this my whole life no matter what was being said around me." Really, Robyn, you support ALL religions and sexual orientations---you have no filter whatsoever? What about adults who are "oriented" towards children? Or religious practices that physically or emotionally abuse? And that is just to name a few things in this often-crazy world. People who spout this type of drivel clearly do not stop to apply any kind of critical-thinking skills.

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know why April and Drew Briney's 2 oldest kids don't live at home? I would assume college, however they are only 17 and 18. Maybe the 18 year old is away at school, but what about the 17 year old? I'm just curious if maybe they refused to be on the show.

ReplyDeleteA close friend’s daughter had the same condition and the surgery...and no Kody Idiot, it is not barbaric, it is medical science. This friend’s daughter recovered, has a straight spine and has had three pregnancies.
And are we really to believe that prior to this couch chat filming that Not one of the “bonus moms” had googled the condition or the surgery. they all sat there and acted shocked!? Hell, what happened to we are moms to all the kids? what happened to calling, going next door to Christine and getting updates.
I think Kody is more afraid of the medical bills than the actual surgery.

Meri speaks as if her jaw is wired to some degree, that or she has had some serious Botox along her mouth. What gives with this? It was never this bad.
So now we know. From Kody’s point of view he and Meri wouldn’t have lasted 10 years together if it was just the two of them. You mean all the “lovah” scenes in the early seasons were fake? oh man!

DeleteIt is hard to believe MrSpock. However Christine concurs by saying getting to know phenomenal Robin is what saved her marriage. She was fighting back tears as she was saying it, so who knows.

ReplyDeleteMeri's goal in filming for the past 5 years has been to make Kody look bad if thats even possible. Make him defend himself for being an insensitive ass. I hope Kody is not making this decision for Ysabel based on the medical expenses for her surgery. If she needs it to help aleviate her pain he should be supportive and tell Meri to take a hike on the house

ReplyDeleteI suppose that as with any upcoming surgery a person would try any and all excercize regimes to see if they can maybe avoid a whole surgery. It sounds implausible, but the amount of time they want to try this shouldn’t take away a life saving procedure, she probably will still need it. But I feel that if it was my child I might try the less invasive thing first. Then of course have surgery if it were going to enhanse her life.
ReplyDeleteI would believe that from a reasonable person, but this is Kody Brown. This was filmed a year ago and i hope the child is not still suffering from headaches and back pain. I remeber from many seasons back Christine saying she suffered from headaches. I just hate to hear a child suffer like this

Way back in the first Epps we were told how shocked Christine (and Janelle) were when Sobbin was to be onboard. Back then it was Meri who was was said to be the enabler for Kody wanting a new bedmate.
But now we hear that it was all of them trolling for a new wife.
Listening to Christine tonight tell yet another version was tedious and just hollow BS.

ReplyDeleteI think that those of us that have been watching from E1 knew then that Meri & Kody weren't compatible. Kody just finally said it out loud. How long has this show been on? 7 years or so? She's never truly looked happy. Didn't she claim it was her idea to bring Robyn in the family with hopes that she'd be happy again? She said herself that she doesn't walk in the other houses and helps with her bonus kids. And it seemed that no one missed her when Garrison came home a few eps back. Why stay? I can't help but wonder if she now regrets not staying behind in Utah to start over when the family 'fled' to Vegas... Than again, other than her sessions with Janelle, she doesn't seem to put in any effort at all with the family. It's hard to feel bad for her.

DeleteThanks to the magic of TV, we've met several polygamous men: Kody Brown, Brady Williams, Joe Darger, Enoch Foster, Drew Briney, Jeff Alldredge, Tom Green, Michael Cawley, Arthur Hammon, Isaiah Thompson, Hyrum Burton, and Dimitri Snowden. Having now seen all of them in action, I have a question: what the hell? For the most part, the women appear to be smart and capable, even "mean girls" Meri Brown and April Briney. There's not a woman among them who couldn't do a hell of a lot better than saddling themselves with these fugitives from justice. And while interesting, the whole protest thing is a steaming pile. First, and Drew Briney should know this (he claims to be an attorney), you're not a felon unless you're convicted. We are still a nation of laws, and that's the law. Second, polygamists can and do stand for election to public office. Donia Jessop, mayor of Hildale, UT, claims to be in a "relationship of convenience". Joe Darger ran for mayor of Herriman, UT. He lost, but the sheriff didn't come and kick in his front door. Tom Green served prison time for child rape, not for polygamy. Warren Jeffs and the other FLDS honchos went to prison for welfare and food stamp fraud, sex crimes, and violations of the Mann Act. Nobody has been jailed for polygamy. And don't try and play the victim card, either. Nobody forces any of these people to be on TV.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, I don't think Dimitri is a legitimate secular polygamist--he's a horn dog. Plus, I'll bet Ashley would prefer polyamory rather than polygamy, which is why the "sisterhood" aspect is so important to her.
OK, usually MrSpock does not care how people dress or wear their hair, but sometimes the cloth wrap Ashley (Seeking Sister Wife) wears on her head is so high it looks uncomfortable, like it would make her tip over. But, again, each to their own in that regard.

- the way he and Ashley treated joselyn after his so called date was deplorable. Joselyn had no idea about their rules for courting and Dimitri probably told her everything was ok. They acted like she was supposed to fess up to something at the lunch date and she was clearly so uncomfortable and waiting for Dimitri to bring it up. He should have made her feel more comfortable and if he was single I would have said that he used and abused her so why because he's married do they both get to treat her like some kind of slut. Slut shaming IMHO.
-Ashley is going along with this whole ruse because she doesn't want to lose her man and she may think that it's all about the sisterhood but I honestly think she is also attention seeking and I would never want to be a friend or sister to someone who acts that way
-the only reason why Dimitri doesn't want to move forward with jakina is because she's overweight and he made a comment about not having an issue with weight but he's clearly not attracted to her. Why don't they just own up to their ways and be honest that he just wants an open relationship? Why call it seeking sister wife when he just wants to play?
-April is a manipulative immature borderline sociopath who obviously never wanted more wives. She treated auralee so poorly for years and never respected her as an equal. It's clear that now that they have moved to a state where auralee can be open about her status, April can't handle it.
- I have no issue with women choosing this path if that's what makes them happy as long as they have a support system in place I.e. Financial and emotional in case they want to leave. This problem is most of them don't because they all come from families that want them to stay in the life and would shun them if they left. Drew is a lawyer but what do the second and third wives have in terms of education or experience to lean on in case they want to leave?
- I think the show brother husbands is more true to a real sociological experiment as they are not in it for religious reasons and they admit that it's a union that they are figuring out along the way. The husbands both have careers they can fall back on and seem to be more scientific in their approach as they have mentioned the book sex at dawn which I think everyone on here should read as it explains so much about human evolution.
Sister Wives
ReplyDelete-Christine is completely full of Kody Brown Nosing BS when she says that Robyn saved her marriage. She is not putting the health of her daughter first as she delays surgery, but rather the wishes of Kody. She is not putting the wellfare of her children first when she leaves them to Robyn in her will. Robyn wouldn’t treat her kids right and she in heart knows that, but sees this as a gesture that might please Robyn and Kody. It is gross. In the past Christine has been one I always routed for in this family. I saw as the sweet wife and the caregiver of the kids that while she as many flaws and is super annoying, is at core a good person. They are exploiting her daughter’s struggle and condition for ratings. Its nasty. Now that she puts Robyn before her own children, she is no longer at her core a good person imo. She seems to be Kody’s second favorite wife right now, but is such really worth the price?
-Kody is so completely done with Meri forever and they both know that. Better for Meri to fully move on, work on her personal health and weight and find her own path than try continue as the omega of this family.
-Janelle she is super flawed, but considering how bad the others have been, she is currently my favorite of the four wives. She is checked out and rather like whatever you want Kody, but at least she seems to be doing right by her kids (for the most part) and isn’t being a total jerk to the other wives or Kody’s other kids.
-Robyn is Robyn and will never be descent.
-The whole we might get arrested is complete bs. They are in no danger of being arrested and they know that are just acting for the cameras. Christine’s crying and carrying on when she knows this isn’t removing true is disgusting. Either their kids are old enough to know their parents are being deceitful for ratings or too young to realize and traumatized as their parents speak of going to jail. This is just gross.
I didn't realize it was possible, but they even more unethical con artists than ever.
Kody is also letting down the kid. It’s not just Christine. It’s not just the group of moms. She has a dad. Parents are capable of making bad medical decisions. Obviously other parents also make the same choice the Browns are. But to put it on one parent or the group unit is unfair. She has a dad. The are financial issues that are a group concern.

Dimitri is a total jerk who just wants to fool around with various women and get lots of attention and Ashley is trying to spin this into a sister wives and a sisterhood thing to keep herself from being dumped or being the wife waiting at home while her husband has affairs.
Jocelyn is only 22 and didn’t know their rules. She is the victim in this situation. Dimitri is older than her and was way more aware of Ashley’s standards on things. He slept with her under the pretense of wanting her as a wife and then dumped her when his wife got upset he didn’t wait for sexy fun times. Ashley should be blaming her husband rather than Joscelyn for this all, but it is probably is easier to think of Jocelyn as a slut than own up to the fact that her husband is a player and a jerk. It isn't much different from when a man has affair and the wife blames the other woman instead of husband. Actually that is exactly what this is. I felt so bad for Joscelyn. Hopefully she will take his as life lesson and avoid anymore couples seeking Sister Wives.
Ashley picked out her friend because she didn’t think Dimtri would find her as attractive as herself and she didn’t see her as a true threat. Dimtri clearly was not attractive to her and didn’t seem thrilled she had 5 kids as well. He is gong to want a slender, young woman without any kids. But then he is more about having fun than seriously building a poly family. Ashley is going to want to woman she feels she can control and be better than. Fun times to join their family.
I found a video on youtube of Ashley saying she was going to become an actress. It's from a few years before this show. I suspect they "auditioned" and got on. I suspect she and Dmitry "agreed" to court for the sake fo TV but to not have sex, etc. since it was all acting. I suspect he had real-not-acting-sex with a hot young chick and his gf is beyond angry. This is what I suspect.

This family is completely miserable and that husband is a total jerk who seems to enjoy his wives fighting all too much. I think many people will disagree with me, but my favorite adult in this family is April. April clearly never wanted sister wives and when she married, she had no idea her husband would ever want such and so I feel that she got blinded sided by the situation. Auralee constantly talks about how manipulative and bad April is while Angela sits at her side and nods along. Together the two of them seem like mean girls. Despite Aurelee’s spin on things, the only ones I see saying mean and hurt things are Auralee and Angela to April. The husband also says hurtful things about April to the camera. I don’t see it happening the other way around.
Also it probably was extremely difficult and heartbreaking for April when her husband took a second (and I think younger) wife in Aurelee. She didn’t marry him knowing he was going to turn into a polygamist. Auralee did go into this knowing that her husband had another wife. April could have choose to leave her husband, but I don’t think she could have chose to stay with him and in a monogamous relationship. When she says she doesn’t want to leave her support system, who can blame her? Her husband clearly favors his other two wives over her and her sister wives clearly do not have her back on any level and in fact seem to be out to get her if anything. She probably has friends and family in the area who support her through such. And her two children living away from home are only 18 and 17. I don’t blame her for not wanting to get a distance from them.
Also when the wives cry about how April doesn’t care if they all go to jail because she is the only legal wife and won’t be arrested. That is once again BS. Nobody is in danger of getting arrested. April knows it and they all know it. I think April was onto something when she said you all move, I will stay behind near my children, my friends and my support system. I noticed that the other two wives were suddenly a lot nicer to her, when she said I don’t want to go because of you all don’t treat me right, basically. Auralee captalizes on being the victim and by getting Angela on her side, she can say see I was right about April all along! So when April looked like the victim there she was quick to try and backtrack. Auralee wants April in Oregan too, not because she likes her or wants her around, but because she doesn’t want to be blamed for driving her off. Because she wants the omega wife around to pick on and blame for things.

The husband instigates everything. April is fine except for not divorcing her husband when he decided to forever break his vows and stop being her husband. I’m guessing all this drama is made up for the show. They have to find something of a conflict to film.

As it says on the TLC site: The Snowdens do not subscribe to the Mormon faith, but they have a spiritual union and adhere to a moral code. They have purposefully abstained from a legal marriage under the eyes of the law in order to ensure equality with their future wife." So, they are not looking for another "wife"---who knows what the heck their game is. Very unsavory.

ReplyDeleteSister Wives I recall in an early season episode that Christine explained that she had a poor relationship with Ysabel. Ysabel was closer to Meri. Janelle just told us why. It's because Ysabel wanted Kody around more. How sad. Ysabel felt forgotten. This whole "we deserve our civil rights as polygamists" nonsence is nauseating. And I have little patience for Mariah spouting about how she must be behind everyone's civil rights if she wants gay civil rights. I think here in the US we are the most tolerant of all regarding accepting diversity. However, we want all adults to be responsible. When you continue to have children you cannot afford to support and have no medical insurance for them you have crossed a line. With rights come responsibility. Why are Americans generally opposed to polygamy? The Brown's and others TLC has highlighted may not be abusive in certain regards as we see from other fundamentalists but they are financially irresponsible. As a result they have relied on public assistance and lied about who the father is. Kody should have been required to pay back any public assistance just like any other Father or absent parent. It makes it all very difficult to swallow. The adults all need to grow up. I had more confidence in the children turning out well until Maddie and Caleb moved home. Why are you married and having a child when you can't support yourselves? When Maddie commented that their room in Janelle's house would be tight with the baby I just knew - here we go again. Where did personal accountabilty go?

DeleteThey are moving in for the show. She started out in a Utah State school. Half the students are married with a kid on the way before graduation. The graduation is delayed a few years cause of missions.
DeleteMaddie did not go on a mission, that hasn’t got anything to do with her. You’re saying the Mormon culture, the regular LDS culture is to be married with possibly a baby before college graduation? Probably. Did they move home for the show? I’m pretty sure it was really tondo with Caleb’s medical condition and not being able to do the job he had been doing. He was planning to be the worker to be able to support Maddie and baby while she finished school and beyond. He’s much older than her, he was working a steady job before they met for a long time. He’s not a college kid.

ReplyDeleteThis episode of SW was particularly disturbing for several reasons.
ReplyDelete1- It cannot be missed how much this family will pimp any story, true or not, about the adults or the children, in order to stay on the air.
They allowed footage of a small child in renal failure and on dylaisis as a major part of an epp. They even showed footage of Truely with her eyes unfocused and nearly unconscious before being taken for medical care.
Now they show a young teenager dealing with scoliosis, including her X-rays, Doctor consults, dealing with the brace, going for alternative, unproven treatment and having her express private thoughts and emotions (fears) on camera. Her parents get to be center stage too with talk of “barbaric” surgery and horrible scars. (And shame on you, Christine, for such a shallow, vapid statement) Bad enough that Kody and Christine feel this way, but to put it out there for the world (and their daughter) to see and hear “for the show” is unconscionable.
.
And they have exploited Ysabel’s situation for two episodes now. All for ratings to keep the show going.
2- the Browns have used both of the current legal wife’s home births for drama and ratings, filling the better part of 21/2 seasons with Sobbin’s pregnancies and births.
Now apparently we have Maddie and her baseball hat, neck-whiskered husband doing the water birthing next week. (Burning question, will Caleb don his hat for the birth?)
Also.....what does Maddie delivering her baby in a wading pool have to do with polygamy?
3-When is enough “enough” of the therapy sessions with Nancy the therapist?
Meri cries looking like a muppet, Kody fumes like a scraggly bum dragged into a homeless shelter against his will. Janelle sitting like a peroxided Buddha all but spews hate for Meri, Meri returns the sentiment. Nancy, as usual, sits perky and smiling, doodling on her clipboard.

Nope, not any more. Now it’s all either blatant exploitation of kids, or it is recycled scenes of people who will do anything, say anything, lie about anything to keep the show on the air.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that Christine's only worry about surgery is Ysabel will have a scar and won't look nice in her prom dress or wedding dress. Do these people understand how serious this surgery is?

After 18 kids, WTF is wrong with these people letting Maddie be in labor for 72 hours, and then getting in the tub with water screaming like she is being murdered when she starts the delivery process? Then she asks for Christine to be with her. Talk about drama. This day and age I personally feel being in labor that long is a detriment to the well being of the child as well. This is really going to be an over dramatic episode that I may catch on the reruns tomorrow.
