Let's start the Live Tweet Party early!!

Let's discuss!

BUT FIRST

People Magazine

It seems soon to be newlywed Mykelti was taking some flak on Twitter last week. Well, we all know Haters Gonna Hate, but, geez Louise, girlfriend had a patented Robyn style Twitter Meltdown, and WE LOVED IT!

She even threw in some Tammy Wynette "Stand By Your Man" kind of retorts! Like, he's got a job thank you, or the immortal "At least I didn't end up with you. He's incredible. Keep your opinion to yourself."

Well, Mykelti certainly told THEM, didn't she? Which brings me to my public service announcement, direct to Kody's over-entitled monster...

My wedding gift to you and yours is this saying:

"It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
'nuff said...

  1. Dang! I can't believe that I missed a Mykelti Twitter meltdown. On one hand, I understand that she cares about this young man and doesn't want him crucified in the public square. On the other hand, THEY decided to put him in the show, spotlight the engagement drama and cash the tlc check. My dad used to say " you pay your money, and you make your choice" she has. If she wants people to hold their opinions, she could keep her private life private. Novel idea. I feel for this boy but you can't film that hike where he walks in front of her, ignores her and jokes about her falling and getting hurt and expect people to love him. They are both immature and Twitter rants are the height of immaturity. We have all been young and dumb but we didn't do it on a cable tv show. So, she paid her money. . .

    1. didnt she in fact say she fell??she had a forehead abrasion and complained of her ankle. I didnt watch the whole show, couldnt stand it, but recall seeing her banged up prior to the engagement hike.

    2. Can't remember what Kody said exactly, but when he had fire coming out of his eyes saying "we did not sign up for..." whatever crimes he and Meri are victims of, it's the same thing. Be prepared for the consequences of putting your life out there for public consumption. You DID sign up for it.

  2. You're absolutely right, Missy. The meltdown is still there. I suppose she thinks her responses were "clever". I don't know which twitter app you're using, but if can select Tweets and replies, you'll see her many comments.

    1. It looks like Mykelti's cleaned up her twitter account. Only one tweet or reply from her since 12/7.

    2. You don't think she reads my living room do you? (Trying hard to contain my smirkface and failing miserably)

Hey girl, what's up? Stick around and chat! I've got refreshments!

      Do y'all think she'll bite?

      Delete
    3. If Mykelti had bumps and bruises from her hike it is probably because she never walks anywhere. They had to film the ring scene somewhere other than plopped on the sagging sofa where these two obviously spend all their time.

    4. She walks from the couch to the refrigerator. Maybe the couch to the door to get the pizza delivery too.

    5. Does anyone else think Mykelti looks like Kody in drag?

  3. Did janelle just say Madison lost weight from " oh eating healthy or whatever"???? Lololol. Good luck with the weight loss business!!! Gosh this was filmed mid May, we all know Maddie is pregnant, Mykeltea had her bridal shower in November, and may be married by now. Sometime in December. The show I love to hate is making it worse, minus the watching being filmed so long in past.

And OMG the gifts at a wedding shower. The false naively nonsense is making my head spin.

    1. Loved this Jadore! I thought that was the best part of the show. Janelle at a loss for how one would lose weight! She seemed so puzzled by the idea of losing weight and just how it would happen.
And about your bridal shower gifts comment. I thought that whole lingerie things was just ridiculous. Their fake storylines are just too much. Obviously after all Janelle's talk about keeping the gifts classy and the hand wringing about what if people bring lingerie--and then lo and behold they present her with millions of lingerie items for the camera to film.

  4. I just find it amusing at how Kody keeps lecturing Tony and Mkyelti about ignoring their sexual urges and manipulating a 9 month engagement. When Maddie and Caleb not only live together, but Maddie is clearly in the early stages of pregnancy before the wedding.

    ReplyDelete

    1. She wasn't pregnant. Her baby is due in May.

      Delete
    2. I predict an extremely large "premature" baby is on the horizon

      Delete
    3. I thought they were living in the same area, but not living together. When Kody and the moms helped Maddie move up north last season, Caleb had bought a house, but Maddie was the only one living there.

      Delete
    4. At Anon 9:19; I was confused too, but that was when she initially moved to Billings, Montana to be near Caleb and it looked liked they moved here into her own home. However, I caught in last night's show that they said after Caleb's mom got sick (she passed away last spring before the wedding) they both moved back to Wyoming where his family lives. It definitely appeared that when they moved to Wyoming they moved in together.

      Delete
    5. I also call BS on Maddie being due in May. She looks much further along to me than 3 months.

    6. During last night's episode they showed Mady in a long sleeved blue top and I would have put money on the fact that she was pregnant except for the fact that it was before the wedding. She looked at least 3-4 months along in that scene, but she fit into her wedding dress and looked 'normal', so I guess the camera lens mislead the viewer in this case.

  5. A 26 year old man lusting after his 16 year old niece (in law) is not normal. Or legal. Definitely not a cute story.

    1. Robyn loved to mention how Caleb is their favorite son in law "right now" compared to Tony. Well isn't it easy to know and like someone when you're already related??

      Delete
    2. I like how they made it out to be "fated" when he was her Uncle's brother in law who used to play at mom's house in their small community. Not the script of some big romantic movie where despite all odds two lovers meet and fall in love. They went to the funeral of her Grandpa and met up again. There more sad parts to this story than happy.Uncle died and Grandpa died and they met again. Nope not a bestseller movie or book.

  6. This episode is more garbled than usual. And, with Jangle as the center of the story lines, it's phenomenally boring. The producers have shown a few opening shots of the Strip before Maddie's wedding planning segments. I swear they hope that she'd elope just to end this show and season.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Wow. Robyn and Christine were pretty snarky to Meri in that couch scene. How many more times could they mention Meri not carrying her weight with producing kids? Yea, let's pick at that wound a little more.

    1. But...then that wouldn't be "talking off the top of his head" if he's had time to research something, right?

      Delete
    2. Yep, Robyn can still "open mouth, insert foot" like a champ, can't she?

      Delete
  10. Robyn seems to have been iced out of the wedding planning by Maddie. she hasnt been in any of the scenes of the planning, but making excuses why she isnt there.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If I was Maddie, I wouldn't have wanted Robyn there either on any of those appointments. Robyn would have made it all about her and compared Maddie's options or decisions to what Robyn chose/did for her own and then we would have seen flashbacks to their "perfect" wedding with everyon wearing the color brown.

      Delete
    2. I don't think she was iced out by Maddie. When Maddie graduated from high school, she asked Robyn to plan her graduation party. I recall Janelle saying that in a talking head. I think it's more likely that she is just all focused on her new baby. Or maybe she has a little bit of post-partum moodiness. She does seem way more low-key than normal.

      Delete
    3. I also think that Robyn didn't bother tagging along to the dress fitting because she knew the scene wasn't about her. I think she is very savvy that way - she picks and chooses the scenes to be a part of and unless she is going to play a prominent role - why put herself out? She didn't make the journey like the other wives to stake out wedding locations and look at wending vendors in Montana because it's not worth her time and effort for the payout. Not enough screen time for her to bother!

    4. @Ark of snark I can't believe I didn't clue in before now.....the reason for all of the brown at Robyn's wedding

I'm so skeeved out with how consumed Kody is with his daughters sex life. Let's be honest, Kody. While you were jonesing to have sex with Janelle before the wedding you were boning Meri; as you were building erotic tension with Christine in anticipation of the gift she was about to bestow you were unwrapping and impregnating Meri and Janelle; and while you and Robin were twitching with desire you were screwing Meri, Janelle, and Christine was delivering your child. Shut the eff up already, you moron!

  14. If Tony and Mykelti are going around demanding her parents pay for the wedding, including taking out out loans, then I have to some up there demands as stereotypical millennial entitlement behavior. I hate to sound like some old person but I'm really tired of seeing this current crop of 20-year-olds just fold their arms waiting for and expecting everything handed to them with no effort on their part. It's that whole trophy for just showing up crap.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right there with ya, Ark of Snark. They are a real pain in the backside in the workplace, too. Not all of them, of course - but MANY entitled, ungrateful brats.

      Delete
    2. I do think the loan comment was more of a jest and I get what you saying they are not entitled to anything. However, Kody and those women all seemed to be going above and beyond for Maddie and doing all the extras with her. In a family that huge and structured in that way, being fair matters. He really shouldn't have poured so much into Maddie if he wasn't prepared to be able to do that for the next child at whatever point they decided to move forward with their lives. Not "Well blew all my money and energy on the kid I like and got her a big fancy venue, hey there irresponsible kid I have no faith in, how would you like the back yard?" I get that entitled is a bad word, but shouldn't she at least be entitled to the same care that her sister got? I felt just sick watching them bully her out of the day she wanted andtreat her like she was less than her sister. Having them cut her down right in the same hour it showed them fawn over Maddie just felt so gross. Its toally fine if you can't throw all your kids enormous gala weddings. But don't pick and choose who is worthy and who to treat like scum. I have felt distaste for these people before but the scene where Mykelti came to "negotiate" and where they were on the couch talking about how they were squeezing every bit of guilt out of her about "well my boys won't come to your wedding if you have it then." I think I graduated to hating them.

Also I really have always quite liked Maddie but I am way way way over hearing about her wedding that happened 6 months ago. The turn around on this show is so slow.

      Delete
    3. I don't think they are entitled to anything. It doesn't matter to me what they did or did not do for an older sibling. A parent does not owe a child a wedding or a honeymoon. If Mykelti and Tony feel so strongly that they should get married asap, they can head over to the justice of the peace. They only need 2 witnesses and even those don't have to be family. They don't need nor are they entitled to a wedding; they WANT one. It's good to have aspirations and want things - but no one else is required to make it happen for you at all, much less at the instant you demand it. They are self-centered brats who need to grow up and get over themselves.

And I agree that it's less fun to watch these shows that focus on big life events like weddings, when you already know what happened or saw pictures in magazines months ago. I actually much prefer the shows that focus on regular life issues versus big events or planned trips and such.

      Delete
    4. Amen on the entitled crap. I think when Tony hooked up with these folks he had the impression they are loaded because of the TV show or that the show will foot the bill.
Let's hear a little about hopes, dreams and ambition not just "what are you going to buy for me?"
I don't remember Maddie coming in with demands. There was a lot of romance and excitement. But just the move of infringing on Maddie's plan is a jealous sister screaming for attention in the most immature bratty way. She should have announced their intentions and left it at that until after Maddie's wedding is over.

      Delete
    5. It was obvious all of the parents had a different reaction to the news of Maddie's engagement than they did to Mykelti's news. That can't have been fun for Mykelti to see or hear on TV. The parents might be regretting having some of those discussions filmed. But their comments were all centered around Mykelti's level of maturity, and frankly she's proving them right by how she is acting through the whole thing. She does seem to be rushing into something. She and Tony do come across more like a high school couple than a stable, independent adult couple. And their lack of awareness about or concern for how them rushing this schedule might impact other people seems very immature and selfish. It might have been hard to hear the parents speak so differently about Maddie versus Mykelti, but the parents seemed to be right about it. Mykelti can respond by pouting and demanding what she wants or by reflecting on their input and either pursuing her goals through an alternate path or being more patient. She chose the bratty first option, and proved her parents right in the process.

      Delete
    6. Mykelti and Tony - what a couple of brats demanding the parents pay for the honeymoon. What are these two contributing to the wedding besides turning up. I guess I would have said we have just had a wedding in the family and cannot afford to help you until next spring. Take it or leave it. Period. But then it wouldn't make for TV drama I guess - but I would have loved to see bratty Mykelti have a super duper melt down to show us just how immature, greedy and bratty she is.

      Delete
    7. In all fairness, Vondrid, Mykelti has said several times that she would be fine with a small back yard wedding. Her original ideas for a wedding were much smaller and easier to plan than Maddie's. However, last night they said 400 people, which clearly would not work in a back yard. Not even all the back yards of all the McMansions. I'd imagine it would be hard to find a park suitable for 400 guests, too.

      Delete
    8. Loved reading all of your comments about the entitlement and brattiness of Mykelti and Ton.y I agree wholeheartedly! And to Vondrid, I totally get your point about fairness among siblings - but here is my thinking on this. We don't know how much of the wedding was comped by the various vendors in Bozeman and how much TLC kicked in to help with the wedding since it was filmed for the show. If Kody didn't actually pay for most of that (which I doubt he did!) then he can't be held to that same standard of providing these things to Mykelti for her wedding. That's why I believe he kept referring to Mykelti's wedding and especially the honeymoon he agreed to as an ongoing "negotiation." He said he would say "yes, but he was not done negotiating." This is code for the honeymoon and wedding I provide for you is whatever I am able to negotiate with TLC and/or vendors! So to Vondrid's point that he should pay an equal amount for each child's wedding - this man hasn't saved a dime for anyone's wedding! He is just picking up the cost of whatever he can't squeeze out of TLC. And a last thought - even though it came across as beyond bratty when Mykelti demanded the honeymoon, I thought good for you--you have been paying attention to what TLC does for the Duggar girls after they marry and you're going to extort a honey moon from TLC too. Why should they just foot the bill for those awful Dugger girls??!! I think this was her way of getting a honeymoon out of TLC but they couldn't pose it that way on the show. I just hope we are not forced to watch it as part of the storyline, but afraid we will have to if TLC pays for it!

      Delete
    9. I think you are spot on Big Sky!

      Delete
    10. Come on now, these people have been grifting through life. Why would it stop at a wedding. I mean these kids got huge on WIC cheese and food stamp peanut butter Fritos.
So if TLC didn't provide it you know darn well con artist Kody worked the vendor into the show for the comps.

      Delete
    11. I agree with all of the above comments about Mykelti and Tony, or children of any family, should not feel entitled to a wedding from their parents. If they wanted to get married they could hike themselves to the nearest courthouse and be done with it.

Here's a different take on it:
I thought the smiles between Mykelti and Kody and the various wives who were gathered in that tiny room (with the door closed; for goodness sake, who were they afraid would overhear them? LOL) to discuss the wedding date was really strange. And then it dawned on me that maybe Mykelti didn't care at all about an August wedding and neither did her parents and they were acting this out purely for the cameras - you know, that it was in the "script" for this episode. Maybe? lol

      Delete
    12. Anon 6:06 -- can't figure out if that was it (it was all made-up drama for the cameras) or if Mykelti really was playing her parents in order to get a free honeymoon (pretending to want an August wedding just to freak them out and then agreeing to December if she got something in return). Either way, it's revolting. Why is it all about the wedding and not about marriage? They are so concerned about how it's too soon for the wedding and how Mykelti deserves to have the same special wedding as Maddie, but what about the fact that it's obvious that she's not ready for a marriage.

      Delete
    13. I agree with so many point of views. I think Mykelti is competing with her sister....pushing for a wedding while the show is still on the air. Maybe she and her idiot groom seem to be milking airtime and possibly hoping for a spin-off show (fat chance) When the two were discussing their manipulation of her parents....I thought "there is one kid gone bad because of the show" I hope that wedding is not filmed, aired, and we don't have to hear about it. And....WTH...Did Robyn call out Christine on air for an apology about something not known to us? The Christine apologizes and hugs her! UGH this family is so passive aggressive...and bad actors. Mow Mykelti has joined the ranks of bad acting as she clapped and turned into Christine when discussing " we're getting married!"

      Delete
    14. I agree with the entitled 20 somethings. I went in to the bank to make a deposit and asked the young man teller "how is your day?' and he responded, "it would be better if i was at home playing intendo" I proceeded to lecture him about how he should be grateful to have a job that many others were looking for work he shouldnt complain.

      Delete
    15. I totally agree with you Vondrid. Mykelti was acting like a brat, but I think she is just tired of living in her siblings' shadows- some of whom haven't even been in the family that long and are already being elevated to Joseph-Smith like status (looking at you, daddy-loving Aurura). Secondly who is Kody to determine who deserves what? Nothing is really his to grant since it's all coming from the TLC pot. If anything, the producers should be making these negotiations.

  15. Did Kody say the only engagement he had which he did right was the one that was nine months ? Was that with Robyn so tlc could pay for it ?

    1. I've given up sugar for periods of time. And when you do have some then, it does give you quite a rush. Christine is already kind of a giddy person; I can imagine it sending her into a rush of giggles.

They did look like good cookies!

      Delete
    2. The most annoying part of the show -- not because of the giggling, but because of Kody saying that he had no clue why sister wives rarely get along (DUH... because they are placed in a position of having to compete for the attention of 1 guy!) AND that when Christine gets UNHINGED, watch out! She wasn't unhinged, she looked like she was having fun for a change.

      Delete
    3. YES! I did a double take at that point in the show when he said that if the wives could put aide "their petty jealousies" they would all get along. Really?? PETTY?!!
No wonder Meri tried in that very first season to get Kody to empathize with her jealousy of the other wives by asking him what he would think if she were with another man. He has always discounted their jealousy of each other as completely petty. What a complete ass. I can't even imagine living this lifestyle, but how extra awful for them if their husband thinks it's petty to be jealous of another woman sleeping with your husband.

      Delete
    4. It's petty to be jealous, but if you have too much fun you're unhinged.

      Delete
    5. Unhinged is Kody telling his family to "piss off" with his glowering demonic stare.

  18. Did anyone else think it was weird that Madison was just "too busy" to be bothered writing her vows and she expected Kody to write their wedding vows? I expected him to write some kind of sermon since he was officiating, but the vows?? If you don't want to personalize your vows and write them yourself, don't you just recite traditional vows? Which I think is fine, my husband and I recited traditional ones and didn't write our own. But why would your dad author your vows you repeat to each other? At first I thought I was confused and she was referring to wanting to make certain that whatever he was saying in the sermon was thought out and planned (which would be wise!) - but no. She meant she literally wanted him to write the actual vows. I think at that point if you couldn't be bothered to write them yourself, then repeat traditional ones.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I thought that was beyond weird. She said the list of things she was doing was so long and something had to come off...I was like, so the silly dream-catcher making wasn't outsourced?! Geez. You can at least take an hour, google vows and pick some you like! That seemed completed strange. Staged for the show...?

    2. Trust Kody with YOUR VOWS? ....I pronounce you husband and wife....You may exchange your saliva.

      Delete
    3. It's not like Maddie is in school any longer or working that we know of so I can't imagine what she was so busy doing?

      Delete
    4. I think it was all about Kody still being the "star" of the show. Nothing about the clip where Kody forgets to do the ring exchange or not drafting the vows until the last minute and the "stress" it causes Maddie is a story line. It allows Kody to be the King of Story lines for his daughters wedding.

      Delete
    5. nothing about it rings trues.

      Delete
    6. I agree with Milo, it was all about keeping Kody the star of the show, rather than letting the focus turn to Maddie.

Maddie, the bride who planned every single detail of her wedding herself, leaves the most important part, the vows she's going to make to her husband, to her father? I'm not buying it - at all.

      Delete
    7. Especially since his father is an actual minister. I'm still trying to figure out that one.

      Delete
    8. I read online the Brown's claimed although Caleb's father is a minister, he would be too emotional officiating because his wife passed away 3 months before the wedding - but this didn't ring true to me because when Maddie asked her dad to officiate, his mom was alive and I believe had not been diagnosed yet with cancer. I'm guessing TLC thought Kody officiating would make for some kind of storyline?!

  21. My cable provider is comcast, and TLC isn't putting this show "on Demand" right away; waiting to watch this show until next week or some early evening slot is annoying.
I simply won't watch it on a Sunday night in front of my other family members (it's a habit I don't want anyone to know about--except you all).
I guess I'll check out the low down on "Reality Tea" and this living room.
TLC if there's a rep checking out this site, you will lose a viewer if this 'on Demand' thing doesn't improve; make it easier or, to me, there's no need to bother.

  22. So, this really bothers me. How do these women not know that there is a difference between a "bridal shower" and a "bachelorette party?"

Yes, the bridal shower is where you get the stuff for your house. The bachelorette party or the personal shower is where you give the gift of lingerie. And normally the bachelorette party or personal shower has a much smaller guest list and you only invite those who are understand that the point is to give gifts of lingerie or other "bedroom" items.

Gosh! Sorry, that bothered me, and I had to say something, lol!

    1. Bothered me too Anon 10:50; Thanks for getting it off your chest for the both of us!
Do you think they actually do know the difference between a bridal shower and a bachelorette party (although I really doubt it) and they thought this would be so "naughty" to film this for the show?? Obviously that's what TLC wanted to focus on since the lingerie was literally the only gifts shown. And they had to do it in such a rushed fashion for the show to get all the lingerie in - it wasn't even wrapped! Just one negligee after another literally thrown at her in rapid fire succession. I just have to think it was part of the most dumb storyline yet since it was foreshadowed by Janelle's comments about being so uncomfortable around lingerie and wanting to state on the invitation that it couldn't make an appearance at the shower. Although when you think of it, what polygamists would have bachelorette parties? Most likely they have never been to one in their life, so maybe we should give them credit for creating a hybrid party?!

      Delete
    2. I was bothered by them acting like a "classy" wedding shower would be a foreign concept for monogamists. I can't remember lingerie at any of the wedding showers I was at. There may have been some, but it was never the focus. The showers I've attended seem to mostly focus on kitchen and bath. And my concern with letting kids come would involve the boredom rather than anything off-color.

  23. "Bedroom items" for the bachelorette party--wonder if the Browns think this means a shoe rack or clothes hangers? I just love this forum, you're all so snarky--just like me!

  24. MrSpock was pleased that there were not any dust-covered items in this episode.

MrSpock does not dislike Christine, but TLC overdid her ramblings on every subject...and the too-long laughter sequence at the cookie shop was irksome.

And why would one need to buy furniture for a "Boho" open house? Guests are supposed to drop by and sit on the floor and eat cookies off a tray...but they were still going to buy a "Bohemian" couch? That sequence was stranger than strange.

MrSpock has learned many things that do NOT interest Janelle---crafts, shopping, planning events, being super-involved in a daughter's wedding, to name a few---so what DOES float Janelle's boat?

    4. Agreed! I don't know ANYONE who goes shopping for a party at a furniture store! Seriously??? Maybe Pier One Imports, but even that would be on the expensive side for them, yes? You don't buy brand new furniture for an after-the-wedding-drop-in open house!!! These people make it look like they don't know how to "adult" or "person." First the mixing up of the wedding shower/bachelorette party and now party shopping at a furniture store. *facepalm*

    5. I was also very confused. Does Maddie really expect her family to have to redecorate in order to accommodate her dumb wedding theme?

    6. So glad everyone else was as confused as I was! I rewound and watched that scene again because I didn't know what the hell was happening when they got to that furniture shop.

Especially when I saw them sitting on a couch like they were buying new furniture! My husband teases me when I watch a few of my very stupid reality shows because they are so simple that I do stuff on the laptop while the shows are on. So when I put the laptop away during sister wives and actually rewound the scene for clarification I told my husband, "see, I do have to concentrate when I watch this show or I can't understand what's happening!"

I feel that Christine and Robyn have been pushed together for plot line and it is truly a struggle for Christine....so she gives this fake hysterical laugh...then Robyn calls her out on camera during a couch scene?d feel bad for Christine ...but she is the biggest cheerleader for this stupid way of life. Christine seems to have chosen to compete with Robyn (It's on) Body language says that those two are the two still bedding Kody and I wouldn't be surprised If a cat-fight eventually breaks out between the two. Christine is giving Robyn some grief as Robyn's appearance is in a dive as Christine's is edging back up.

  25. Let's be honest, when SW is finally cancelled, Kody & crew won't have the funds or tlc negotiations to make big weddings happen. So backyard weddings will eventually become a norm for them. I'm sure resentment will be high, but if the kids want a bigger wedding & honeymoon, then they'll have to work & save to pay for it on their own. You know, like most of us regular folks did.

  26. Finally watched this episode, and as the saying goes, not only was that two hours of life gone for good.....that time should NOT have been allotted to the inane happenings of Kodyworld. The longer it went on, the more agitation it generated.

The plots for this week were beyond ridiculous. Hard to pick a standout as the #1 stupid, insultingly lame winner of this epp.
What is TLC doing? Are they having a laugh at the viewers' expense? Sure seems that way !!

Janelle is, frankly, useless. In what is now the distant past, she may have held a job that contributed to Kody's harem coffers, and which also enabled her choice to not have to tend to her children or housework. But come on, she is so devoid of any spark or glimmer of vitality or personality, she is depressing/annoying to listen to or to watch. It was unfortunate that TLC filmed and aired so much of Jangle this week. It only emphasized her strangeness.
Remembering the old blog days where "Run Janelle, Run" was often posted, doubtful that oxymoron would EVER happen...for obvious reasons.
Indeed, what activity would motivate Janelle to buy a vowel? Yikes !!

A mother telling her daughter that she intends to go fishing the morning of her daughter's wedding is seriously bizarre. And it speaks of Janelle's blatant lack of awareness and consideration for her daughter's feelings and needs. Wow....appalling.

    1. Thank you! I can't imagine the complete lack of self awareness it would take to not realize that taking your sons fishing on the morning of your daughters wedding is inappropriate. You are the mother of the bride, the whole point of your going to visit Maddie is to help with her wedding and BE THERE. And then to think that Maddie was being ridiculous for not wanting that to happen??? What?

    3. Janelle has always been detached. This is probably why she does not act anxious or stressed like the other women. She is just not that invested. Without viewers to critique her she would not have noticed anything .Or cared to.It really says something when a person is prideful about the image they portray, but not their substance as a person. Her Mother comes off cold to me too.She and Kody probably recognize that detachment in each other and that makes them compatible. That and her enabling his grafter dreams.

    4. Well said Amused. I wanted to slap her when she moped into Robyn's house to check on the progress of the wedding shower. She looked so doughy and unenthused. She admitted that she had wanted to plan and execute the shower but it was all so "overwhelming." Honestly, what can she organize? No wonder they were so concerned when she was in charge of arranging the family's wedding accommodations.
I hate to be like my father who has some obsession with counting guests at events (I think out of boredom or because his brain is just always needing something to do) but I counted the guests at the shower and unless many scenes were cut out, there were not many guests other than family. There were whole empty tables. Looked like just family with a few of the Brown mainstays I've seen at their other parties. It was certainly not a large enough crowd that Janelle couldn't easily plan the party. In fact, I felt bad for her that they would make such a huge deal out of it and there were just not that many people attending. My daughter watched with me and she felt so bad about the lack of guests/low turnout that she hopefully insisted to me that there must have been a lot more people there, but they just didn't want to appear on film. :)

    5. Janelle is vacant. This season has highlighted how off she really is. There's something strange about a woman who decides to become the second wife of her ex husband's sister's husband. To top it off her mom then marries her father in law as a plural wife too. Very odd.

      Delete
    6. Ya know, we just took the Brown's word for it about what a career woman Janelle was. That was a mistake on our part. Oh she may have gone to work every day to avoid any responsibility to her SIX children, but I bet she was that employee we all hate--you know the lazy slug who does as little as possible? The one who shows up at the potluck with a bag of fritos and a jar of peanut butter when everyone else made delicious homemade food. Janelle is lazy to the point of being catatonic and doesn't seem to care about anything but herself and her ability to do nothing. Who doesn't plan their baby's first birthday party? Or their daughter's wedding shower?

      Delete
    7. Years back like many viewers I thought Janelle was the most normal. She has proven through the years that she is first on my list to be delusional about Kody being a super dad. Complete vacant denial about anyone around her, so deep in her own head and mental illness that she can't even say hi to a woman she agreed to be connected to for eternity. She is by far depressed and completely irresponsible for everything that comes her way. Any upcoming event she side steps and it falls to her other family members. Her son raised her kids, Christine educated them and instilled personality in them and Meri even though angry herself was their role model in organization and follow through. Kids often thrive when they band together when emotionally and physically abandoned by their birth parents. Janelle is so vacant and comatose that her children were raised by the village, not her.
I believe as far as a career goes, she was a state worker, low level administrative employer that made about $32k a year. Not exactly a career, just a job. She lusted after Kody and all she wanted was him. She abandoned her birth family and friends and joined the cult for him.

    8. Very good post. Thanks for getting it started, Amused.

Anon 1 - Agree totally. It's your firstborn and the first wedding of the kids. Forget about fishing for a minute and just be there for your daughter.

Anon 2 - Christine is so incredibly fake IMHO. I am not liking how she and Robyn are now using each other since Meri is out of the picture (symbolically speaking). And, of course, no one cares about Janelle.

Big Sky - I noticed the small number too. Strange, especially with such large families.

      Anon 3 - Nailed it.

    3. i think all of the talk of Maddie losing weight and not fitting into her wedding dress was all made up. She did not look 20 pounds lighter in any of the scenes and in fact looked fuller at the shower.I think it was just a storyline to divert attention.

      Delete
    4. Milo, I am with you. Whenever they overact and continue to make stupid comments that don't seem to jive with a normal storyline, then you know it's concocted or they are trying to divert/coverup something else. It reminded me of when they kept claiming Meri was so sick and lost over 30 pounds. In one episode I even believed they said more than 30 pounds. We never saw her look any different. I think they believe that if they keep repeating this nonsense than it becomes true and we believe them. I know they say that people look heavier on film, but 20 pounds is a significant difference. Wouldn't we have noticed some kind of change?

    5. If she was pregnant and showing at her dress fitting, she would have a baby by now and would have sold the photo rights to People for a handsome sum. I'm sure she just carries her extra weight in her tummy like many of us.

Christine looks the best she ever has.
Jangle after looking better in last two seasons now looks bigger than ever. I believe at one point they said she lost 30 pounds slowly, but she has packed on 50 quickly. She really looks uncomfortable and unhealthy. As for strive with Janelle... Her comment on the couch that Maddie has lost soooo much weight doing "whatever" is clear she has nothing to share about losing weight. Another tax right off business scam for 2016 tax year.

  28. Just two observations:

First, TLC showed the Mykelti-Tony engagement pictures that were on Twitter when she actually got engaged. She and Tony were wearing totally different colors (brown and purple, I think) than what we saw in the re-enactment enhanced with doggerel (his-and-hers turquoise). I think that even TLC can't be bothered.

Second, in the library sit-down, one of the sister wives worries that Mykelti has given up her big dreams to settle and settle down in boring, little St. George, Utah, living an uninspired life. Mykelti says that she loves St. George, her life, her job and her friends. It's Robyn's hometown, but she was silent, like she was completely unfamiliar with the place. And, everyone seemed to forget their trade show visit there.

    1. Janelle was the wife who said that and I thought it was funny considering her golden daughter Maddie dropped out of college to move to a boring little town to live an uninspired life with her husband who is ten years older. 30. This is her last chance to be treated well. She is Christine's daughter. Logan and Mariah got a car. They got the lions share of the education money. Christine had to twist kodys arm to make groceries while Robyn manages a hawaii vacation on budget. Christine's kids always had to wait longer than Mariah for what they wanted. They had to take turns. Maddie got excitement and a big wedding. Why not her? They have the same financial circumstances for each. Yes the other girls halted studies and the other boys joined the service. I think this is because of money. As far as attention we know daddy is totally about the boys, King Sol, hunter and wrestling. New car to keep Logan close in college. I say she should go ahead and tantrum as much as she feels she needs to. They have been anything but fair. Even maddie asked why does Meri get th big house when they temporarily moved to Nevada. Each kid in that famliy got treated differently. If you are not the oldest or a girl or Christine's kid you have a right to feel needy when it comes to attention or the family financial pot from Kody.

She's getting special meetings behind closed doors with just her dad and her mom's ! She's causing Kody to stress , and Janelle to have to worry . She's basically digging her heels in and demanding to be recognized . She is actually playing the only chip she has to ever be recognized in this family as an individual . The fact that her and Maddie even shared graduation parties shows me that there is not only distinction with the sister wives but with the siblings as well .

Then Mykeltie says to herself...It's now or never....and her fame seeking boyfriend says lets do it. I see a very bleak future for Mykelti and Tony. Watch the needy manipulation begin.

  34. Personally, I'm getting tired of the sister wives, especially Christine, putting down monogamy, especially when they have clearly demonstrated how terribly unhappy they all are and how difficult it actually is to live their lifestyle. That off-handed comment about monogamy when Janelle said she could go off and have the other wives take care of her children really irked me.

We "poor" monogamists don't have to worry about getting along with women who we may not even like just because our husbands have forced them into our lives. We don't need to seek therapy because we can't even stand the sight of them putting the garage out or (god forbid) being in the same kitchen. We poor monogamists also have support systems in our lives that we don't have to allow into our husbands' beds! We have actual sisters, friends, and mothers who will step in if we need help with childcare. Actually, we also have brothers, fathers and male friends, because we don't live in patriarchal worlds where only women can do what plygs consider "women's work". We also have husbands who actually take care of their children. My husband is an equal partner in parenting and if I need to go off and do something, I can easily do it.

I also think it's ironic that they say that they have their sister wives there to help with the kiddies, but Robyn has her niece with her to help and Christine has her mom. I can guarantee that the younger of Janelle's kids were likely being minded by one of her older kids. Plus... Kody was there the whole time! Why would she need a sister wife to step in at all, Kody should have just stayed in her home with HIS kids if they needed adult supervision (which likely they didn't as there are enough older kids in that household. So, please spare us the lies about how awesome it is to be a polygamist because of off the support you get from your sister wives, because we are not idiots and we've seen how you all hate each other.

    3. Roslyn, it is really weird! How will Mykelti like that the very day after her wedding, instead of basking in the afterglow of the wedding and reception, her family will be watching Maddie's wedding on tv (because you know they do, never sounds like TLC gives them access to see the show early) and their twitter feeds and social media will be all about Maddie's wedding not Mykelti's!! Mykelti probably wasn't too pleased when TLC finally picked an air date for their show and she realized how the episodes were going to lay out - rotten luck for her!

It's crazy to me how different TLC does things depending on who it is - I am absolutely NOT a fun of the Duggars, but I did notice that with the recent wedding of Jinger Duggar, TLC rushed to get the wedding on t.v within weeks of the actual event. Nothing like how they show stuff from the Brown's months (or even years!) after it actually happens. I'm curious why the difference. If Mykelti's wedding was a Duggar wedding, we would be seeing it in a few weeks, not a year from now.

My guess would be that tlc needs so much time to edit hours and hours of boring manufactured film with the Browns. She invited my husband to visit if he was interested in being filmed. We are both the polar opposite of that mentality. She and her husband have plenty of money (he's a doctor); she seems to like the gauche and crass fame thing. Her father (she and my husband have the same dad but grew up in different households in different parts of the country) has refused to be on the show, but her mother has (different mom from my husband). You would think with all the fakery that this show forces on us as truth, that production getting that dress taken in would be a given. I like Maddie, but am already sick of watching her yank on the top of that gown. And the repeated bitching about how it's too big all over, there's something fishy about it.

    3. Our DVR taped that preview.
You are so right, BatSh*t, the constant complaining about the fit of the dress. Geeze, first it's about the hips being too loose, then it's too big all over. What? No tailors in Montana for an 911 call? And from what is shown, other than needing a little under-padding in the bust, it doesn't look too big at all.
Then she says her plan is to look like a "Bohemian Princess"! Okay, as pretty as it is, that dress style is anything but Bohemian.

    6. Amused, agree on the no way is that Bohemian dress style. I am a gen x-er who did a bit of Phish touring and am pretty familiar with that kind of look. My friend's first marriage was very bohemian--kind of 'medieval'--another friend made her dress after re-watching "Dangerous Liasons" and getting ideas. Our bridesmaids dresses (the only wedding I've done that other than flower girl as a kid) were dark purple, fitted in the body/square low neckline and the floor length skirt was split like wide gaucho legs.
The girl (I say girl because we were in our 20's) who made the dress showed up at the wedding location 2 hours prior with an unfinished dress--the sleeves weren't fully sewn on ( so lame). My friend who got married that day is usually pretty tough ass, but at that momentwhen she put on the unfinished dress she looked so deflated--so I snapped a picture and it's one of my favorites ever (in a kidding way--she was my college roommate for awhile and she rarely shows vulnerability, while I often felt vulnerable inside).
The dress got finished as guests were arriving, though by the end of the night one of the sleeves was hanging off.
The girl who made the dress had the gall to still look to get paid for her work.
Outdoor New England setting, beautiful summer day. Maid of honor and I put our birkenstocks on after the ceremony.
Both of my own marriages were justice of the peace things; I don't care for the fanfare.

    7. Regarding the bride with the unfinished dress picture...what makes it so funny is that when we were still teenagers she took a similar type of pic of her brother, after he had spilled some crumbs on the living room rug and his mom asked him to vacuum them up he said "That's a skirt's job!"...the father heard and laid into him verbally and that kid (about 15 at the time), with tears in his eyes, got out the vacuum and proceeded to clean up his mess.
My friend ran for her camera and snapped a pic. We laughed about that one a lot.

    8. My only other guilty pleasure on TLC is "Say Yes To The Dress" and after years of watching that show, I can definitely concur with everyone above that this dress is not a Bohemian style at all!!
I also agree that the dress shop (who probably gave it to her for free or at a substantial discount) would feel rightfully slighted about all the ridiculous fussing of the fit of the dress for the concocted storyline. In the preview the other night, the best Madison could do to keep the stupid storyline going was to say the dress was "too big in the legs!" I spit my coffee out when I heard that! How is a wedding dress too big in the legs?! Unless the skirt had magically turned into gaucho legs like Back in Blacks bridesmaid dress, I don't know how we could talk about it being too big in the legs!!

      Delete
    9. I saw in the pics that Maddie put a bracelet of some type on her upper arm, and I guess she thought that made it bohemian. That look doesn't even go with that type of dress. The dress was pretty, but anything but bohemian. I think we can all agree that the Browns have no sense of style. Like zero. I thought Maddie looked pretty, though, in the pics I saw.

    10. Maddie's hair looked amazing, and the make-up artist did a great job as well--the wedding party pics are gorgeous.

  38. I didn't watch the whole episode- #1) they are too long at two hours each, and #2) they are so daggone slow and boring!
The tipping point for me was when Kody made the 'jonesing for each other' comment. I turned it off.
He is obsessed with his daughters' purity and them remaining chaste but I wanted to scream at the TV: WHERE IS LOGAN? DOESN'T HE LIVE WITH SOMEONE? LET'S SEE YOUR GROSS COUCH TALKS WITH HIM ABOUT PURITY!"

    The misogyny is vomit inducing.

    1. They may have had these same talks with Logan off camera. Unlike his poor sisters they didn't subject him to public humiliation regarding chastity. I have a hard time believing they are this hard on the girls yet let him off completely Scot free. Logan doesn't seem to care about religion& chastity quite like his sisters and may have told pops to screw off when he saw the chastity talk coming. Who knows really

    2. Yes, it surely is !!!
As much as Kody Idiot is a screaming misogynist, all four women/mothers are accountable too.
They don't exist in a hardcore plyg group. They seem to have rewritten their own tenets to suit themselves, much like Brady's group did.
The Brown adult women may not wear arm revealing clothes, except of course when Meri had on her cleavage and arm baring bathing suit way back early on when vacationing with Kody.
But the Kody Brown harem and their daughters are not confined to a tightly controlled plyg commune where attire and demeanor are scrutinized. In fact, the older daughters dress as any females their age do.
I do wonder if the producers are aware of Kody's apparent preoccupation with his "out of the house" daughters' sex lives...and they have decided to film it anyway? Hmmm....why??
The producers are well aware of this blog and others where viewers/bloggers are simply not mush-brained fans and sycophants.

No question, Kody is entitled to his MO about his daughters and sex. However, if he chooses to express it the way he does for millions, and his "wives" stay mute..then they all deserve whatever opinions their on-camera stance will generate.

      Off topic....
Christine's daughter, Ysabel, is a VERY pretty girl.
Most stunning of the whole bunch !!

      Delete
    3. (reply to Amused)...Ysabel IS such a doll. Savannah is pretty cute, too, and looks like she has some solid self-esteem.
I also thought that Lauren Williams of the Brady family was lovely.

    4. Back in Black,
Agree, Lauren of the Brady Bunch was lovely.

Ysabel obviously got her genes from her mother's side.
Not any bit of Kody's genes there at all !!

    5. And I can't believe how tall Gwynnie is (and Paedon too, but Gwynnie has really shot up recently)! I wonder if she plays basketball or volleyball?

      Delete
    6. I am tickled for Christine that her kids are so tall - especially when Paedon towers over Kody - because I will never forget that as gaga as Christine was/is over Kody - she mentioned that her hesitation about marrying Kody was his stature, she thought he was too short!! I believe in either her book or somewhere online, I read where she said her dad and brothers were tall. I see Kody's physique in Janelle's older boys Logan and Hunter and that's probably what made them such good wrestlers (as was Kody, since he often reminds the viewers of his wrestling state championship) I have felt bad for Paedon that he doesn't seem to be valued by Kody because he is not a wrestler like the other boys.

      Delete
    7. Paedon seems like such a genuinely nice, sweet young man. He really seems to have a sensitive core. I hope he finds happiness; seems like he'd make a really good husband and father. I think Dayton has also really come into his own. The exposure to the family and other kids in school seems to have been great for his maturity and development over the years. Gabriel always stood out as smart - I still remember the episode with Meri's 70's surprise birthday party where as a very young boy he understood how to place the lights to make the disco ball work. From that moment on I wondered if he's grow up to be an engineer. Interesting, smart kid - and like all of Janelle's kids, willing to speak his mind and push back.

    8. You all talking about Christine's childrens inherited height reminded me of the you tube I watched with Lance Allred. He is Christine's first cousin and was the first deaf nba player. He wasn't a starter quality player, but still quite an accomplishment. He had some interesting things to say about growing up as a member of one of the "special" families in the Allred group, or AUB.

  39. At 10:30 p.m (Eastern) on the TLC schedule is a 30-minute sneak preview of Maddie's wedding.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yea I love a good wedding story , but I'm really not interested in the least in watching the rest of their klan get married and have children . The adult Browns are such bad examples of healthy relationships I cannot stomach them anymore !

    ReplyDelete
  41. This episode featuring Janelle was so boring that all I can say is if my doctor gave me a month to live I'd want to spend it with Janelle. That month would last forever.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Maybe TLC should stop with the sneak previews. Honestly, if that last preview Wednesday night was supposed to entice us to watch this Sunday, it had the opposite effect. After seeing the preview, I am completely discouraged.

  43. Not buying the storyline about the dress being too big but you would think Jangle's efforts should have gone into making it right not going off fishing. Instead her solution is for Maddie to eat and eat to fill it out, now we know why we she regained all her own weight.... saw all those oversized clothes still hanging in her closet and just had to keep on eating till she fit into them. As for the new Laurel and Hardy double act not buying that either, just so over the top. Goes from one extreme to the other .... boring monotone dialogues from Jangle, Meri and the rest of them to Christine's hysterical laughter over sampling cookies with her new best buddy. Like most of us here only watch now to enjoy the banter here in CJ's living room.

  44. I wonder if Aspyn met her new person she likes at the wedding? If it was a relative of Caleb's they could make that family wreath even bigger.

  45. Haven't watched this show all season, I just don't have it in me. But the comments here indicated that this family, kids and all, are all about materials things. The women are low-energy blobbish, near-comatose and ridiculously unhappy. Meri has some line of mediocre clothing she pushes and she doesn't wear it well. She looks pasty and ill-at-ease. It does hide the weight nicely, though. Janelle is so low-key and ungrateful, like every day is a struggle just to get through.

Where's the happiness, the vibrancy, the love, the lust for life, the family unity, the gratitude for the life they've been blessed with? Why all the complaints? And the young ones are becoming just like their parents...I, I, I, me, me, me. Why isn't Kody doing his earthly job to make their lives heaven on earth? If he's the key, they need a locksmith.

  46. Mykelti married Tony today. It's on People website. Also, Jinx, I love reading the comments and all, but I dearly miss your insight. Please come back!! It's not the way it used to be. I feel like an ignored sister wife. I don't want to compare you to Kody...but is there a new Robyn in your life?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I personally like Tony more than Caleb. Something about Caleb gives me a bad vibe. He seems like a quiet, controlling type. And that dumb pic of him and Maddie when she was 16...nothing in that pic that showed anything amazing. She was smiling and he was a predator. Why isn't this family mad that a grown man was ogling after their minor daughter? And contacting and texting her...a MINOR? It's not romance when a pathetic not so handsome blah personality man exerts his efforts on a vulnerable young girl.

    1. Your post resonates with me as far as I don't get the "perfect guy" vibe from Caleb either. I won't go so far as to say Tony is better than Caleb for any reason, but Caleb does indeed seem controlling under his friendly bravado. Frankly, he has more of a Kody vibe to me than Tony does in personality. Caleb comes off seemingly easy going, but the undercurrent is that he is "in charge" !
The camo bra and panties set was cute and had he gifted it to her in private, very cute. But he apparently wanted the shower guests AND the cameras to know it came from *him* even if it was out of the norm for the plyg culture. I could see Kody doing something like that, which he already does every time he announces he has four wives every chance he gets to non-plyg folks. No surprise that Kody feels a bromance/kinship to Caleb. And obviously both men really like being on camera.

    2. I highly doubt Caleb had anything to do with the camp bra and panties. Much less he probably didn't even know about it until it aired. Looked fake and unconvincing.

    3. Kody feels a bromance/kinship to Caleb.

Yep, Amused. You hit the nail on the head on this one. It makes me wonder what if Maddie had fallen for a guy from Brooklyn, NY, who was a complete stranger to the family, and not Mormon like Tony? I have a feeling we would be seeing the same reaction the family had with Tony.

  48. People mag quoted Mykelti yesterday saying “I’m most excited about being able to wake up every morning to him and go to bed every night knowing I’m safe in his arms.” Remembering back to last week's episode when she told Kody the most important thing was that Tony made her feel "safe" and Kody repeated that a couple of times as enough of a reason to convince him that they should get married. I wonder if Mykelti is picking up this "safe" talk from Christine? I know Christine would label people as to whether they were safe or not. This poor kid, if safety is her number one requirement in a husband, I can only imagine what her childhood was like.

    1. Looks like he didn't father to get dressed up for the occasion. But here's the absolutely hysterical part of it all they got married OUTSIDE in Utah in December!! The article I read mentioned how the bride was so chilly that she had to wear the grooms jacket. Well hello dumb asses you're outside in December and in Utah; state that does get snow! Guess she just wanted an outdoor wedding like Maddie no matter what the cost. Pretty messed up to make 400 guests sit outside in the cold weather too. I'm just shaking my head like you all to see me

  51. The weather in St. George Utah on her wedding day, according to weather.com, would've been between freezing and 40° depending on the time of day. Bet she will blame the cold weather on her parents for not letting her get married in August! It cracks me up and looks like he wore jeans for a wedding that the article says had 400 people in attendance. Couldn't give at least going to Walmart and bought a pair of slacks! I wonder how many of those guests for Robin's relatives

  54. Miss your recap postings Jinx...any hope of them returning?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I also miss your recap Jinx. I just saw the TLC video of Mykelti and Tony. Is it just me but Tony looks transgender. It's just that he seems to look like a woman at certain angles. I get a strange vibe from him. Not sure if they got married for the right reasons. I wish them luck and I hope they stay monogamist. I honestly believe that these weddings are what's keeping the Browns on tv. Kody and his nitwits need to get off tv. They are no longer interesting to watch. I don't know how in the hell their fans seem to think that they are the best family on tv. Their fans are so delusional. Do they not see that Meri is not happy and that they are pretending for the cameras. I guess when you are desperate for a story line you would do anything. Like agreeing to all the weddings. I thought that these young women would be different and get their education. Nothing wrong with getting married young if you are mature enough to handle what goes into a marriage. These girls have not experienced what a one man/one woman relationship is. They did not have good role models. I bet Mykelti gets pregnant fast. She can't let Maddie have all the fun. I just hope that TLC does not keep the, around just for weddings and babies. Enough already. With all these kids, TLC can film weddings and babies until the cows come home. I stopped watching this show several seasons ago. None of my friends watch this trash. I come to the blog to keep up with what's going on. But the number of comments have continued to go down and even Jinx is not giving us her terrific reviews. I guess many others cannot stomach the Browns. TLC should drain the swamp and end this not reality, reality show.
