UPDATED!!!! I Scour the Internet The Pre Summer Solstice/ Father's Day Edition for June 12th, 2015

Holy Guacamole, it's only the beginning of summer with three months to go before the new season of Sister Wives.

I'll tell you one thing. I simply can't WAIT for another scandal to hit TLC. Last year it was Honey Boo Boo. Last month, the Duggars went down...really down. So who's betting on the Sister Wives being next?

We all now know that the supposed "leaking" of Meri's divorce and Kody's remarriage to that vixen 4th wife Robyn Sullivan Brown was all about the ratings. And it was successful, too. Ratings for the Sister Wives finale soared to levels unseen since the beginning seasons. Unfortunately, the struggling My Five Wives saw it's viewership sink below the one million viewers mark.  Despite various "compelling" storylines including Lonie's pregnancy and Rosemary's allegations against her father, the show was summarily canceled.

So now we're left with three more months of polygamous free TLC programming. And it's a bore, let me tell you.

Meri admiring her flowers...from a "friend"

Of course, you'd think the Kody Krew© would step up on their tweeting, or whatever social medium that would influence the most number of people to tune in next September. And for a while, Meri and her side kick and legal status beneficiary Robyn did step up to the plate.

Robyn started her strangely narcissistic I Likey fanpage on Facebook while Meri embarked on an embarrassing display of teenage angst and puppy love by barraging her followers with hundreds of motivational sayings in the attempt to remain positive about her "situation" while simultaneously  carrying on a  Twitter "friendship" with a male "friend", complete with flowers being sent to her, because...well, just because.

And throughout this mess, Kody has remained eerily silent. Almost as if he could care less what his spiritual wife was doing online, and with whom.

We can only hope he is too busy courting his fifth wife. For  the ratings, of course...

So let's get going on the social media presence of the Brown's so far this month.

We shall begin with this week's edition of....

The Tao of the Former Legal Mrs. Kody Brown

I now feel enlightened, empowered, and strangely craving peanut butter fritos with a Kool-Aid chaser. How about you?

Back to reality, Meri seems to be the only sister wife, besides Robyn of course, that tweets pictures of Robyn's mischievous little King Sol.

Whoa...is that a KNIFE on that chair? And is it me or is that carpeting looking a bit...worn? Maybe it's the gosh awful color...Anyway, who doesn't imagine if this had been another bonus child, Meri would not have been so cheerful, considering the colossal effort required to cleanup that mess.

Looks like Meri's followers aren't the only ones noticing her Twitter "friendship" with The Joker, aka George Glass. But, alas, the infatuation has faded big time. In the May 24th edition of I Scour, Mr. G was riding the high wave of unbridled friendship with Meri and a lot of hubris thrown in for good measure. But alas,  looks like Mr. G had to clean house on followers after Robyn's JYD decided to follow him on Twitter, no doubt to spy. Wow, that was  a smart move being he only had 37 followers !!

Leave it to Robyn "I'm the new family sheriff in the cul-de-sac" Brown to knock this "budding" relationship down a notch or two on her Likey fanpage.

You can almost hear her screaming to whoever is within earshot how he's got a lot of nerve, especially when he deftly cleaned out his followers (including Robyn's JYD) all within 24 hours of JYD's sudden appearance. Let's hope Robyn and her JYD aren't government spies.

Stealth and subtlety  are not their forte...And now Meri has drastically cut back on her overly gleeful twitter convos with her "friend" and he appears to have drifted on to other people, mainly his "girlfriend". But don't worry, Meri still converses with her friend, only more discreetly. The way it should have been in the beginning.

On a more cheerful note, last Friday Hunter graduated from High School! There weren't a lot of pictures, but hopefully it was filmed for the show. I want to see Hunter's graduation party in the cul-de-sac! It's a tradition of the show!!

How sad that Hunter's Daddy Dearest did NOT tweet any congratulations, choosing to retweet his wives congrats instead. But he did take time to retweet this message from Meri, which was rather ironic considering she most likely tweeted this in retaliation for all the "rumor mongering" about her Twitter friendship, even though she flaunted that friendship for almost a month and then abruptly ended her twitter chatter once Robyn and her JYD got wind of it...

Makes me wonder who the real haters, fools and idiots are. Hint: They reside in a gated cul-de-sac.

Finally, from our friend at The Principle (F-LDS), there is an excerpt of a sermon from Marvin Jessop on the future of the AUB after the allegations presented by Rosemary Williams. He is the leader of the AUB in Pinesdale MT.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
6/19/15

That's riggggghttt!!!! Robyn is preggers, this time with Kody's second legitimate child being that he made Robyn an honest woman last December 2014. Let's just hope it's not the case of Robyn finally going through with being a surrogate to carry a fertilized egg of Meri and ex-husband Kody.

How much you want to bet the next season of Sister Wives will make no mention of the supposed legal fight between the new Mr. Robyn Brown and Robyn's ex-husband for parental rights. Yeah, that was a dumb storyline that, like a majority of Kody and Krew's actions, wasn't well thought out.

Save up your grocery money, Original Three Wives. With a pregnant Robyn and Kody at the head of the family, it is guaranteed to be an extremely bumpy ride going forward!

Poor Meri. All that hell she must be going through. No wonder she retweets with all those damn  sayings. And let's not forget while Kody was undoubtedly spending all his time with his newest Mrs (how ELSE did she get pregnant, I ask you), holding her ....um....head while she no doubt suffered morning sickness (Yeah, that's the ticket!)  poor Meri had to placate her loneliness by accepting flowers from a Twitter friend (as described by Robyn, who eagerly cleared up any misperceptions this Joker may have had of ever appearing on Sister Wives).

Actually, I think Meri's Twitter friend should be featured on an episode of Sister Wives. You heard of the Thrilla in Manila? Well it could be the Battle of the Vegans, with Kody representing Las Vegas and Meri's George Glass representing all those Vegans who still yearned for the richness of pot roast gravy in their Vegan stew, wrestling for the "love" of fair maiden Meri. Right in the cul-de-sac. Winner take all.

But just compare the picture of Meri with her flowers with this picture from People Magazine. What a difference. Poor Meri looks like she'd rather be having 5 root canals with no anesthesia. Such a sad, sad picture...

One last thing, historically Kody starts courting when a wife is pregnant, so can we hope that Kody stays true to his polygamous form and starts courting his 5th??? A Vegas showgirl who just happens to be a Vegan, too? Pretty please, TLC???? Can you just imagine the meltdown Robyn would have? Which explains that epic Twitter meltdown Robyn had a few months back.  Robyn ALWAYS has a Twitter meltdown when she's pregnant! Her baby bump is pretty evident, don't you think? I wonder if she was already pregnant when she had her last meltdown (complete with those ridiculous selfies she took).

The Browns may have saved their show with this latest pregnancy. And how convenient to announce the Friday before Father's Day Sunday!

Well, that's all for now. And remember, I Scour the Internet so YOU can spend your time reading about the Duggars!

Liquid White Out was such a chore...when the bottle was new, the whiteout fluid was too thin and took forever to dry. When the bottle was old, the fluid became gunk that would clog the roller in ink pens (Yes, we used WhiteOut to erase ink).

The tape version was infinitely better, except if somehow the tape refused to wind or broke. Then it could get messy. But it was easier on ink pens and didn't wreck them like the liquid version.

And yes, King Sol did get a haircut many months ago!

  7. My apologies. Apparently I've been living under a rock. What is going on with this internet boyfriend thing? Is Meri being catfished by an online admirer (stalker)? Or does the George Glass comment refer to the even stronger possibility that she's created her own stalker as a passive-aggressive nod to her dear spiritual husband and his new legal wife? Either way, it's more than a little crazy.

Am I the only one who thinks the pictures of Solomon's mess aren't cute and funny? He's not a baby anymore. Seems to me he should be sitting in time out instead of being rewarded with a photograph session for his behavior.

I have to give props to Janelle. She's doing something right. Her kids all seem exceptional.

Anyone else shocked that Mariah hasn't been "courted" for marriage yet. Seems she's already a bit long in the tooth for a polygamist first wife.

    1. Sol is too old to be doing stuff like that. I don't think it is cute at all. Meri is just trying to make it look like she is an easy going person, not like how the sister wives have made her out to be or how she has appeared on camera.

I kind of doubt Mariah has had any decent offers of courtship and will be single for a long time. Anyone who has watched the show will most likely not want anything to do with her unless they're looking for media attention.

LOL, now THAT's a show I'd like to watch. MTV should think about starting a "Celebrity" Catfish!

Am I the only one who thinks the pictures of Solomon's mess aren't cute and funny?
Nope, you're not alone. I was serious when I wrote if this had been one of Meri's bonus children at that age, she would not have been amused!

Anyone else shocked that Mariah hasn't been "courted" for marriage yet.
I have an opinion that most of what she does was "for the show". But, who knows. Maybe in a couple of years her situation will change. If George Glass breaks up with his girlfriend, he could hook up with her on the rebound. I'm sure her daddy dearest would be happy about it. MSWC needs a venture capitalist...and to have one in the family possibly...Just what the accountants ordered!

But to answer your question, no I'm not shocked at all. Mariah doesn't need to follow in The New Mrs. Kody Brown's footsteps...

    3. The Marvin Jessop sermon excerpt is absolutely CRAY, in the lingo that has morphed into my old school English. For the love of God, I found it so completely disturbing.
Even my just turned 13 year old knows that when presented with information from a study of any sort that the FIRST question is "Who has funded this study?"! Jessop makes Oklahoma seem to be a backwoods incest paradise and Montana completely unreasonable.
My husband and I just rewatched the movie "Emperor" about MacArthur's investigation into Japanese accountability at the end of WWll in the Pacific. The movie's end notes tell us that Emperor Hirohito (who actually played a big role in reining in his generals and ending the war by breaking a tie vote determining whether or not to surrender and was not himself punished for war crimes) who was regarded by the people as a God, went on after the war to refute that status. Which I think is amazing, considering the power that role allowed him. He wielded it well.
While I like many of the things Pope Francis has said, I never bought the idea of papal infallibility. Religious leaders with powerful authority can be dangerous (anyone remember Pocahontas, the animation, when her father says "These white men are dangerous." ?). Power attracts the worst and corrupts the best.
Marvin Jessop comes across as bottom of the ideological barrel, and to think that there are any women in that congregation buying that litany of deceit is appalling.
I remember sitting in church as a kid (Greek Orthodox, except for the two big holidays went to a Russian Orthodox church, until my father died when I was 12 and I stopped going and my Catholic-reared mother (who only came to church on the two big holidays) thankfully allowed me to stop going) and asking my mom whey there were all men up there conducting the ceremony. "All the women are too busy for all that--they have to take care of the kids and the house." (let me add that the services were either in Greek or Russian, neither of which I spoke). I was distrustful of all that 'man power'. Raised in a family of 3 girls and 1 boy, "the boy, the boy, the boy" seemed more important. I was the youngest, younger by 7 years than "the boy", and he teased and emotionally abused me mercilessly. I was not sexually abused, but the way my mother brushed off his teasing of me reminds me of Jessop's 'brushing off' of the idea that abuse IN ANY FORM affect people.
      A LOT.
And it can affect future relationships and mental health A LOT.
How can the people, especially the women, in Jessop's congregation tolerate having a "Fredo" as their leader?!
The great orator has spoken...perhaps too much.

    4. Hi Bemused, I agree with most of your post, but I respectfully offer a corrrection on papal infallibility. the "ex cathedra" doctrine which allows for papal infallibility, does so only when the pope speaks on issues of faith or dogma. In every other instance, the pope is considered a teacher, or a preacher, advisor, or counselor, but does not speak with infallibility. Interestingly, there have been only two ex cathedra pronouncements in the entire history of the Church of Rome. Both have to do with the status of Mary in the Church: the first, in 1854, dealt with the Immaculate Conception and stated that Mary, unlike every other person ever born, was free of the "stain of original sin" from the time she was conceived. (Remember "The Song of Bernadette" and the Lady's line, "I am the Immaculate Conception"). The second Marian, ex cathedra pronouncement came in the 1950s, and created the dogma that Mary was "assumed" into Heaven at the moment of her death, both her spirit, and her incorrupt body. For more information, please see http://heidelblog.net/2013/02/how-many-ex-cathedra-pronouncements-are-there/

Now, I'm feeling grateful that I actually paid attention in Cathechism class for all those years. I never actually thought I'd need that stuff! Thanks, Bemused! :-)

    5. Thank you for explaining infallibility. We Catholics appear to have a lot of rules, but we really don't have many impossible to be changed rules.

I wouldn't wonder if the kids got married if they would keep it hush hush? Particularly if not a legal marriage possibility. It is still not accepted legally. Some of the kids would never, but Mariah could. And then not tell anyone until the babies come. I wonder if the kids could if the family is now separate from the church org?

      I miss polygamy USA.

      Delete
    6. If I were one of the Brown kids, I wouldn't want my dating life or marriage opportunities subject to public scrutiny. I think it would be difficult to determine whether someone was interested in me for myself or interested in getting their 15 minutes of fame. If I were planning on practicing plural marriage, I'd want an even higher degree of confidentiality. Since polygamy is a crime in 49 states and Canada and decriminalized in Utah, I wouldn't want to risk getting on the wrong side of the law. Having seen my parents "flee the jurisdiction" in fear for their freedom, I'd be reluctant to get into plural marriage, but if I did choose to do so, I'd certainly want to keep it on the down low.

Regarding Mariah: I honestly don't see her as a competitive candidate for first wife--or second, or third, or fourth, ad nauseum. I can't imagine her being interested in someone who isn't financially stable, and that would tend to rule out a man her own age, and I don't see an older man looking for a subsequent wife being interested in someone as self-centered and immature as Mariah seems to be. She can't claim that she comes from highly fecund stock, so a man looking strictly for a "good breeder" probably wouldn't be interested. I guess I just don't see her as a good risk, unless Hyrum Thompson and Kellie are looking for a second. I can just see it now--Mariah would be tearing Kellie's hair out in fistfuls!

    7. Yes, regarding papal infallibility...I was raised in the Eastern Orthodox church. The Great Schism resulted by disagreements in dogma.
My intention was not to specifically address the issue in detail.

  8. I wouldn't watch either show, but I've been reading about the fall-outs of the Duggars and Mama June. Some articles report what the families earn per episode.

Entertainment Weekly and People magazines reported that the Duggars earned $40,000 an episode. Elsewhere, it was reported that Jim Bob and Michelle earn about $20,000 per joint speaking engagement.

Mama June claims in her defense against her daughter's recent lawsuit that the enitre family earned $22,500 an episode.

If those figures are accurate, the Browns may earn between $450,000 and $800,000 a season. I would assume that they'd be on the lower end of the scale, since 19 Kids & Counting was TLC's highest-rated show, was in its 10th year and had an audience 2-3x larger than Sister Wives.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I doubt Sister Wives makes 40K per episode, but considering their normal "season" is only around 9 episodes even at 40k that would be $360k for the last season. I think 25K per episode is more realistic. And when have the Browns ever gone on a speaking tour - a tour that did not involve selling their green koolaid?

      Delete
    2. I am nosy and want so badly to know how much the Brown Clowns make per episode. $360,000 divided by 4 households is $90,000 each, WOW! Even making that much I think those homes were a terrible investment.

      Delete
    3. Granted I live in an area with high wages (and high cost of living) but I have to say that my income annually is over $90k so to me that just sounds like chump change. (that's before taxes as well). Also, that's not including my benefits such as pension, medical/dental, 401k matching, share purchase plan elections and so on. It's a terrible tradeoff, one's privacy for so little. But then again, they seem to thrive on the attention don't they?

    4. I was thinking the same thing, DakotaJustice. I live in a smallish college town, making well over that between my husband and me, living in a nice but older house on the "affordable" side of town. Even though it's just the two of us and a (spoiled) dog, it's still just enough. Of course, we don't spend like drunken sailors and have an investment/savings plan that doesn't include the word "bankruptcy." They really are fools.

      Delete
    5. That speaking engagement money is exactly why none of the family should be on tv keeping the name of duggar relevant. $20,000 for the duggar parents as reward for their isolating and controlling lifestyle for others to copy, no way!

      Delete
    6. I am sick that the duggar kids don't have any money at all! All those years working and they don't have the ability to move out and buy a home immediately. No dad needs hundreds of more in rent money since his house didn't sell at the price he wanted. So mad!

  9. I suppose white out pictures aren't as bad as the pictures Robyn posted of Sol playing in the oven. Neither one was cute. They did have one of him playing with his dump trucks using Cheetos. That would have been cute but no orange stains on the carpet make it not believable. Meri already did the paper clip picture in the office. At this age you see pictures of kids riding their bikes, playing at the park, or building roads or forts in the back yard.

  14. People are asking Robyn on her fan page, when her baby is due. Wonder if that's another rumor they want to start it they are just saying that due to her expanding belly.

The Williams have a Q&A video on their facebook.

Rhonda stated that she would still like to adopt, but that's on hold due to " really tight finances" and Utah laws.

Also, no plans to move yet.

Makes me wonder if any of that was ever true or just a storyline. Also, are they really that right money-wise without the show? What happened to that huge bid that was such a help financially? Did that fall through or was it just for the show?

  15. Robyn's internet presence has been all about Hunter lately. In response to criticisms perhaps?! She even went out of her way to mention/say he comes over just to play with Sol. If that is so, good for Hunter for being such a good brother to all the babies. However, I still found that comment curious after that pic of him and Truly.

  16. First of all......
I don't believe the picture of Sol and the white-out happened.
Well, it happened but only after bonus mommy, daddy's former legal wife, Meri, thought it would be a SUCH a tweet hoot to stage another "Sol messing in my office" caper. She must be trying to divert attention from her pathetically obvious tweets with a random guy friend. Besides, does anyone really care that King Sol does naughty but oh' so funny things in Mer-Mers office? Meri, get a life !!!!!!!!!!

Sobbin is SOOOO proud of Hunter!!??...Oh, Right....*sure* she is !!!
About as much as I have fantasies about the Village Idiot, Kody.

The Williams were never going to get decent ratings. They were a bore and the plots and scenarios were ridiculous. May they all live in peace in their 60's Motel Six line pf apartments. Anyway, after the Dugger and HBB debacle, they should be glad they weren't next in the tabloids.

As for any rumors about Sobbin being pregnant.....geez, that story line is so "done"....enough ! Sobbin, have another, or have 4 more.......who cares!!

    1. I couldn't agree more. Each of these women seem emotionally stunted at the age they married (and they seemed pretty immature at those ages as well). I wish I could remember where I read it but there was a theory in psychology that women/girls in highly sheltered groups often became emotionally and intellectually stagnant at the age they marry or have their first child.
Not always, but often. It always made sense to me because that is the end goal for many women in strict religious groups-be a wife and mother. When the nest is empty or the husband loses interest they lose their value and sense of self. I think it's part of the 'keep sweet' or 'look of devotion' we see with many plyg groups or more recently with the baby voice and doe eyes of Michelle Duggar.
I've seen the phenomenon first hand with my mother in law. She had her first two children very young (she was married in her high school gym during her senior year) and always seemed to deal with the oldest kids as though they were pesky siblings. It was all about her husband and 'their time'. Perpetual dating and a lifetime of 'prom nights'. When that ended and she realized she was no longer a cute 19 year old--that the face in the mirror had aged and she had three teenagers who didn't need or want her and a husband who 'worked late' rather than hang out at home, she lost it.
Value based in fertility and chastity is by definition finite. These women were never encouraged to be more than their bodies so they never developed past the self conscious state of perpetual puberty. Meri is practically textbook.

  19. I strongly believe Meri has been catfished. Here's why I think this:
This guy "Sam" claims to have jets, homes, luxury cars, 3 personal assistants and two secretaries. Yet a whopping 30 followers on Twitter. No way.
Also, what type of wealthy entrepreneur makes a twitter handle about Batman? Most use their own names.
Google Samuel Jacob, Las Vegas and you get nothing.

He goes back and forth between protecting his tweets and making them public when he doesn't get any attention anymore. He mentioned on Twitter that he 'talked to his lawyers about Facebook". Yeah right. And he also claims to have a hacker friend named Lindsay who goes into Facebook and cleans up whatever he is alluding to as being private to him. Bull. Cr*p.

And finally, the constant references to "my girlfriend, my girl, my future wife". If he has a girlfriend that isn't Meri, why always generalizing the references to her? Who does that? Nobody!

Poor Meri told Robyn she'd never met Sam and they are just Twitter friends. I'm guessing Sam is a 13 year old boy in somebody's basement making up this whole alter ego.

One interesting piece: on Robyn's FB page, she had said at one point "*eye roll*" when someone said they were happy for Meri and Sam. She deleted that.

Even if Sam doesn't exist, and there is nothing going on, the fact Robyn gave a virtual "eye roll" says everything.

Sad but I think so too. I mentioned this in my other living room, but MTV needs to start a Celebrity Catfish show featuring the former Mrs. Kody Brown on the premiere show!

And finally, the constant references to "my girlfriend, my girl, my future wife".
I think that was part of the long con. If this had been allowed to continue I bet money "he" would eventually have a brutal breakup and "he" would seek comfort from Meri. After a sufficient amount of time for Meri to make another complete fool of herself, either the con would come clean to a tabloid or ask Meri for a "business" loan and disappear.

I'm guessing Sam is a 13 year old boy in somebody's basement making up this whole alter ego.
I'm guessing who ever it is, is a lot older than 13.

Even if Sam doesn't exist, and there is nothing going on, the fact Robyn gave a virtual "eye roll" says everything.
And the fact that a TLC exec producer started following Georgy Boy a week ago, and then, within 24 hours Georgy's Twitter goes private, then is made unprivate, and the exec producer is no longer there. Things that make you go hmmmmm......

I hope for Meri's sake that this was all just to drum up interest in the next season, because think of how embarrassing to be catfished like that on social media. But deep down I really want to see Kody and Georgy Boy duke it out in the cul-de-sac!

    3. Oh for crying out loud... I completely missed that!

What I do hope Meri has seen, though, is that when her fans first heard stirring of a potential suitor, they were cheering her on! That says a lot! Go Meri Go!

  20. Just read this in People- "Sister Wives stars Kody Brown and his fourth wife, Robyn are expecting their second child together, the couple confirm to PEOPLE".
Well now we now what the next season will be about!

  21. CJ, I am eagerly awaiting your commentary on People's story this morning about the new bun Browning in the oven. I wonder if Robyn was "holding out" until she got the legal marriage...

    1. LuvDivided, you KNOW Robyn was holding out until she became legal. She played this well, got to hand it to her. Now, I want to see what the viewing audience thinks. I have a feeling Mr and Mrs Robyn Brown are NOT going to like the reception they will receive.

The new legal Mrs Kody Brown true reason for taking over Meri's legal status is obvious...Insurance had nothing to do with it. Nor did a supposed "Dead Beat Dad". Isn't it amazing how she got pregnant a scant 6 months after tying the old knot with old Kody. Almost seems she held Kody's spirit babies hostage until she got that marriage license!

I hope the Original Three Wives are saving up their grocery money...Robyn is in total control now...and it's friggin' SCARY!!!

  28. People magazine has a picture of the Brown's with Robyn being pregnant. Meri of course looks completely miserable. Kody is asked as an expert at having children what is his advise to expecting fathers..his answer..I try to always be kind and tender. But when a woman is expecting you have to be ultra sensitive..and do the dishes. I wonder if Christine would agree that Kody was kind and tender when she was pregnant with Truly? what an asshole this guy is.

I hope she doesn't have a labor like Jill Duggar. I don't see her wise enough to get to the hospital.

I hope there is no more talk of him adopting her kids. Glad they can focus on this. It's not like this is the first woman to have a baby.

So, Sobbin Purity Brown will now have the second *legal* Kody-baby.to compete with the first legal one, Mariah. Wow, Sobbin you really are the sly one, aren't you.

And TLC, all the mystery and dropped hints and the filmed heart tugs of Meri's tears at the divorce signing......all BS !!! But great for ratings, huh?!!

    1. I wonder if ratings will drop off big time for this show because people are boycotting TLC after the Duggar fiasco or just general boredom? Or, possibly their rating will increase slightly because people will be looking to replace watching the Duggars with another trainwreck of a family? I lean towards ratings dropping off, even the Little Couple's ratings have been dropping.

      Delete
    2. I keep hearing different stats on TLC. Honestly the spin is going to favor whatever you want it to. Either TLC is losing viewership and needs Duggars back (NOT), or they are doing fine without them after an immediate drop they are back up again. The roloffs filed for divorce and even though it's not the little couple people get confused. I haven't heard of a boycott TLC effort. The die hard Duggar fans don't watch anything but the Duggars. What is there to boycott? I think sister wives has had their time. Even the roloffs scaled back. I think they could get a single episode from sister wives per year and call it good. They don't do anything day to day. We have seen the babies come and the parties happen. It's just the same thing over and over again. We have seen nothing to sell polygamy. If anything the opposite. They still stink at math.

    CJ, 100% agree !!
Not only no mention, but as evidenced by that staged picture for People mag, they are posing around her belly just like the Duggers did when they would release their "we are pregnant again" press pics.
Gee, could that be the goal? Beat the Duggers at the numbers game?

And to be blunt, I had to look for a second to find Sobbin and her round middle, since it looks like Janelle has fallen off the diet wagon and Maddie looked a bit full in the middle too.

Meri looks like an after-thought in that pic. Everyone else is hamming it up pointing to King Sol's impending sib, and Meri is on the perimeter sadly looking like a last minute addition.

I wonder if there is something to the rumors that Meri is only sticking around for the show, you can't fake some of her body language and unhappiness has been written all over her face. Everyone else looks really happy in the picture, weird, weird, weird.

Anyway, congrats I guess on the 18th child and to the 4 single moms who will help raise it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't wish bad on any of these children, or even the wives, for that matter. But for Kody I'm hoping some form of Karma is in his future.

How dare he state in a public forum that he is always "ultra sensitive and caring" when one of his wives are pregnant. Does he think viewers forgot about him slipping around "courting" Robyn while Christine was pregnant? Even while she was in labor?

These womens lives are so hurtful that I watch it like some kind of trainwreck. I wish I were friends with Merri and could just ask WHY, WHY do you put yourself through this? But I guess I understand, in a way. I stood in a marriage long after it was good for me; mostly in a state of inertia, not knowing how to create a life for myself.

It's not easy to leave the only life you've ever known. You know the saying "you're comfortable with what you know, even if it sucks, because it's familiar, you don't know what you'll get." Or something along those lines.

      Delete
    2. So agree with all of this. These women are absolutely miserable, you can just see the misery they live on a day to day basis, but there is nothing anyone on the outside can do. The best we can hope is that this lifestyle dies with the kids now that they've moved out of their polygamous community and had other opportunities offered to them.

And it would be a cold day in hell when I posed happily pointing or touching my "husbands" other wife's pregnant belly.

      Delete
    3. I remember Robyn saying something about how a pregnancy is the physical manifestation of the fact that your husband is sleeping with another sister wife, or something convoluted like that - and yet, there she is, front and center, with a big ol' cat-eating-canary smile on her face while everyone (except Meri) point gleefully at her pregnant belly...even Christine and Janelle.

So in other words, sister wives are supposed to remain somewhat laid-back and chill about being pregnant - unless you are Robyn and you finally managed to snag the prize that is Kody? Then you get a spread in People magazine?

Just when I think this family cannot get any weirder......

    4. This entire Brown family saga only works if it's sold as "the young mother of three left penniless, abused, and forgotten by her first husband who makes it to the top of the polygamy heap with fame and fortune".
The challenge is to create a sympathetic character that we rally around and root for.
The casting director has failed in this respect.
Despite the world we live in, I am still amazed by what some people will do for money.
On a pleasant note, however, let me digress a moment and relay my favorite Pope Francis quote..."One day, we will see our animals again in the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God's creatures" (12-10-14). Not a statement made with "infallibility", but I think he's right on the mark.

    1. Exactly - Meri and Janelle stand as far away as they can, while still fitting in the frame. Christine is overacting, and she's bent down to the focus of the photo (Robyn's belly). Truely is imitating her, but she's still mugging for the camera, and the rest of the pixies are fulfilling the theme.

The sons are in the front row, posing like they're in some team picture, separate from the birth announcement. Mariah is next to Kody, and Sol, of course, is on his shoulders. (How much longer will that last?) But Kody is nowhere near his new wife, as if Robyn got pregnant alone. The adults are all spread out, like they're avoiding each other. There's no visual cohesion.

  40. CJ, great scouring and you do such a great job of updating as well. I've been so busy this summer trying to get caught up on my academic responsibilities so most of my writing has been of the academic nature. But, I do have my guilty pleasure and this is one of those places where I can sneak in and partake of the snark and snark myself and head out. Meri doesn't look to happy in the group photo of everyone pointing at the village idio....I mean the legal wife. Honestly, Robyn said when she was pregnant last time: when a wife is pregnant it's a reminder that the husband is being intimate with another wife, so it's awkward...do you think? Really, do you think the wives looking at your pregnant belly isn't more than awkward, more like a slap in the face? Christine always over reacts to everything and this is no exception. I cringe at their faux smiles and proclamations of happiness at adding another child into the mix. We have all said it over and over again..the abuse and neglect. The family is messed up and to announce her second brown pregnancy on the heels of the son's graduation who, consequently, was so rebellious to his father's procreation of more children. Classy TLC

If anyone needs the hair, makeup, clothes, and a professional photographer it is the Browns. I guess the Browns aren't as popular as the Duggars.

I think Meri is playing the viewers. Why would she have Tweeted from the OB/Gyn office unless she was with Robyn and most likely filming? (yawn for that episode) She was probably teasing folks into believing she was getting fertility treatments. Meri and Robyn get a kick out of laughing at their fans. Poor Meri doesn't realize the show will now focus on Robyn and Kody now instead of Robyn, Kody, and Meri. Robyn is a sly one.

I'd like to know what happened to those expensive cameras Meri and Robyn were using a couple of seasons ago? Why the need to use a cell phone camera? I agree with you MA. People Mag must rate the Browns at the lower end of the star spectrum. Not only did they not get professional styling (if ever), they didn't even get a professional photographer.

      Delete
    6. If that's a cell phone photo, then the Browns probably had to take it themselves and sell it to People Magazine. They'd probably be in the red for that shot if they actually hired a make-up artist or a professional photographer. They got lucky that the Duggars were in social media silence; People must have needed filler content.

Despite the Browns' self-delusion, the child wouldn't command the price for a Jolie-Pitt, Kardashian West or Windsor, regardless of any proximity to polygamist royalty or a birth in a gated cult de sac. The People story wasn't even an exclusive or a TLC press release.

      Delete
    7. People Mag had exclusive rights for Solomon first pictures, but I agree with you Grifter Lives that this time around, Kody most likely had to shop that picture around and People, perhaps out of pity, bought it. I wouldn't be surprised if JYD (since she was at Robyn's home a couple of weekends ago) took the picture using her cell. It was a massively amateur effort...just plain B.A.D.

Has anyone else notice there hasn't been a trip to Disneyland yet? They usually have at least 5 or 6 visits by this time of the year!

  42. Isn't it more than a little disturbing, and at this point, just plain meaningless, that Kodyworld is now all about wife # 4 (yes, Sobbin, you may be legal now but you are, and forever will be, # 4) adding yet another mouth to feed and another notch on Kody's harem master's belt ?

And really, wasn't that what the Duggers were all about from the very first show ten years ago ?? The fan hook was to see Michelle pregnant again...and again. And it worked !!!

Frankly, Sobbin being pregnant again is about as interesting as the remnants of this morning's breakfast. Does TLC and Kody really believe that will keep the ratings for SW?
Do they think that fans who relished watching the Dugger baby making will champion Kody Brown and his growing horde?

Also, there really isn't anything snark-worthy anymore about Janelle or Christine or even Meri's most recent scenario. There just isn't anything left to see.
Janelle has an ongoing weight problem and luckily, she has what appear to be nice kids.
Interesting enough to keep ratings ??

Christine is a hyper over-reactor with many insecurities, but her place in the group is well-established. How does that parlay into keeping rabid fans.?

Meri is stuck between a rock and a hard place. She has been rendered obsolete, but she needs the TLC income....so she stays. Watching that is like watching paint dry.
Where is the fan interest on that?

Kody's MO has been done and re-done. Nothing to see going forward but more of the same circus of stupidity and mega ego. It is now obvious that it never was about the Plyg lifestyle, it was about Kody Brown and his massive self promotion to become a celebrity.
Not a bad gig when you consider the income and goodies he generated in five years.

Still say the only thing that can save this show is to put a new bedmate in Kody's cuddlesac.

So true, Amused. But not even Kody is enough to keep the TLC gravy train running at this point. I'm sure if the execs at TLC want Kody to court a 5th to save the show, he will do it in a heartbeat.

And remember, Kody has a tendency to court when a wife is pregnant. He courted and married Christine when Janelle was pregnant with Logan, and later courted Robyn while Christine was pregnant. Yep. It's time for a 5th, so we can watch Robyn go berserk on her fanpage!

Also, I couldn't help but notice that Meri tweeted a father's day message about her father who has passed, but not a word about her own baby daddy.
She is clearly feeling isolated and not a part of the family anymore. It was clear when they brought Robyn in and moved into 4 houses it was over. 1. Yeah, she was 12 weeks all right - 2 months ago. And now she's feeling fluttery movements?

I remember with King Sol's birth everyone waited and waited for Robyn to finally go into labor. I think they are pulling the wool over our eyes (how surprising, right?) They are saying she's only 12 weeks so when she actually delivers, it will be "in secret" in a "secret location" without the glare of the news media but with full film crew to document the birth. Then, just like when Lucy gave birth to Little Ricky on I Love Lucy, TLC will pass off the birthing film as happening right now! on or about January 7 2016 to the sucker audience as a television event.

Shortly afterwards, TLC announces Sister Wives will not be back for another season.

    2. Yep, they will cliff-hang the impending birth after the fact.....then air it as a "special."

Awww..... and the world was so wanting to watch Kody, birthing coach extraordinaire, stroking the inside of her thigh again like he was strumming a guitar for the cameras.

Of course they will...the new legal Mrs Kody Brown will demand it. And of course Kody will be there grinning and acting all goofy but I don't think he's going to lay a big fat juicy kiss on Meri this time around. The new legal Mrs Kody Brown would not approve of it! She will demand all attention to be on her, and her legal husband. Oh, and the baby.

  52. Robyn was already getting big thru the gut before she got pregnant. Last season there were several times I wondered if she was pregnant again. The brown diet doesn't do any of them favors. I feel sorry for the young ladies growing up there who are already struggling with weight at such a young age because I can tell you the older you get the harder it gets to lose it

    1. You don't have to be married.

I think it would be creepy to pass this one over to meri. They are all supposed to be this child's moms and dad. If they go by their rule book.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous-

I was thinking along those same lines. I've suspected since the divorce news came out that the real reason for the legal wife shuffling was so Robyn could get fertility treatments. Apparently some health insurance companies won't pay for IVF if a couple isn't legally married. The hormones for IVF are also notorious for causing weight gain which would help explain why she looks further along (although I think she really is further along and they're lying, but I digress.)

I don't think she's acting as a surrogate for Meri though. Meri's activity on twitter has been so depressed and attention-seeking for months. Not the kind of response I'd expect from a woman who's close to getting that baby she's been dreaming about for years.

      Delete
    3. And if Robyn was getting fertility treatments, that would explain the recent weird tweet showing Meri and her the doctor she consulted regarding her fertility problem both giving a "thumbs up". Something tells me if Christine had not had that mini tantrum during the Tell All last year (not the recent Tell All for 2015) Robyn and Kody would have talked about the difficulties Robyn was experiencing conceiving. Of course, if they were following the Big Love playbook, she would be secretly be taking birth control pills, but that was fiction, right?

  54. Why does Robyn feel compelled to respond to everyone on Twitter??? That boggles my mind. If TLC spent ANY time on psych evals on these people before they put them in front of a nationwide audience, Robyn would have FAILED. (Well, most of them would have failed, but Robyn for sure!)

  55. Anony 6:35, there are laws about marriage for surrogacy and I doubt Meri wants to be tied down to and beholding for another Brown offspring. I really think that Robyn's pregnancy is a result of some of her intense "working her way to the top" of the sister wife hierarchy. I believe she may have convinced Kody that if she has more kids out of legal wedlock, her children's biological father could remove them and she and Kody were probably able to convince Meri that getting full custody of the non-brown kids is dependent upon legal marriage and those maneuvers were possible in part because they have so little exposure to how the real world works and their lack of education. Of the four wives, Janelle and Robyn, I believe, are the most ambitious; although, they use their ambition in completely different ways: 1) Janelle, I think, sees getting to the top or at least working as a point of showing your dependability and your strong work ethic. She probably also looks at the job and figures out what she needs to do and learn to look better to the boss, hence the taking classes of sorts and getting her license to sell real estate. 2) on the other hand, Robyn, I suspect, uses her womanly skills such as her tears to earn pity and we have seen that time and time again on the show. I also believe to the men she has been around, she comes off a little hot so that Kody seems to totally lose his one brain cell when she either cries or smiles. But, I do believe the one trait that Robyn has that Janelle may have lost along the way and that is the good old fashioned skill of manipulation. I believe that Janelle had it and used it to win Kody in the beginning but over the years of mental abuse from both Meri and Kody, her confidence has taken a hit and she is less confident in her skills; perhaps, that's why she put so much of her time outside of the house. Robyn, though, she really works that manipulation skill. While her manipulation wouldn't work with heterosexuals who have had some socialization and cultural exposure, it does work with the other wives and Kody. I think that is why Robyn is so upset that people don't get her or don't like her. I'm sure in the past, she turned on the tears, smiled, batted her eyes and had all those folks in their religious group eager to please her but the real public, we are the real deal and are not as likely to fall for her crap. So, I suspect that this baby that she carries is hers and it's her legal wife standing pay chip...Kody can not strut around and act all important cause his junk is still working...I would just love it if Christine or Janelle were to pop one out too...like a few months after her....if they wanted to raise the ratings, they would have one of the lesser wives get knocked up and have Kody in a dilemma of who to run to. But the Browns don't care about ratings...they are going to run their show into the ground and then go back on government assistance. Bless their hearts.

Run, I appreciate your take on the dynamics of the inner circle of *adults*. (using that word loosely)

However, I just cannot agree that Janelle has such a strong work ethic inherently.
Rather I think Janelle saw Kody as a trophy of sorts. The "Why" of that will forever remain a mystery!! But she wanted him and was willing to play her part as a breeder for his planet in the sky.
What she wasn't inherently engineered to do was raise her own kids 24/7. No doubt she loves them and was okay with letting Christine do the toddler training and pre-school attending. She *wanted* the Plyg setup with other women joining in with the child-rearing of "her" kids. Leaving the kids at home and going out to work, by her own admission in the book, was necessary for her to cope in the world she had chosen after divorcing Meri's brother. Why? Again, that will be her life secret.

Janelle may have endured abuse from Kody and Meri, but she continued to stay and have more children. If Janelle was really a go-getter and consumed with enterprising goals, she would have rejected the bogus "Frantic Exodus from Lehi to Vegas" plan. Be dammed if TLC and Kody saw it as a ratings grabber, she would have stood her ground on pure logic and concern for those kids.(her kids)

I just don't see Janelle as any different than the rest of the dysfunctional women of Kodyworld.

No one outside of the really small fan base they have actually cares about these people or what they're doing. They have proved that they're boring, sad, and Kody is a pig. The show was based on their life being different because of all the wives and kids. But, they never discuss their religion, family dynamic, or anything of interest. They only talk about their sham of a "business" (is MSWC even a thing anymore? These people suck at marketing) and about how great Kody is (gag).

I do think the [George Glass] aka "@[deleted]" is real. I really don't do much on twitter; however, I started seeing references to the [superhero] guy, and started looking/following at Meri's twitter account a few months ago. I remember reading someone posting that "Sam" was such a great boss. This person seemed to be an employee's wife in the Oklahoma office. They went on to say that his family was an heir to some large corporation. (I can't remember which one). I followed the 2 accounts of Meri and Sam, for several weeks. Now I can't find those tweets. I saw the posts regarding the flowers. I read his blog posts. I saw his recent tweets about firing his Oklahoma Assistant for responding to media. It seems to me, that this "may" be legit. And, the only reason I think that, is the way they are trying to be so cryptic about everything. Also, with Meri not responding to any posts regarding her anniversary, or Father's Day to Kody....it just seems very weird.

Yep, because if they don't get a high number of viewers, not even the anticipation of a new birth in the family can save the show from cancellation. BradyAndWives learned that the hard way when Lonie's pregnancy storyline did not save My Five Wives from cancellation.

This new "romance" angle of Meri this summer is falling flat. Note to Meri and whoever is in on this farce...Next time make it believable. Maybe hire Slade from the Real Housewives franchise to play Meri's new love interest. He's got a girlfriend/fiancé too, and he's inbetween gigs. ReplyDelete
  64. @Mr. Spock - speaking of their day-to-day survival; I am very curious to know how Wynn's estate (Kody's father) was distributed. Farmers spend a lifetime, as did Wynn, acquiring land and it's not to leave to their wife ( in his case 3 wives). Especially in Wynn's case, he worked hard to buy back land the family had lost. My dad's will places our family farm in a lifetime trust to our mom so she can receive income to live on - but then the land will pass on to us kids, with the expectation we pass it along to our children. When Robyn made the comment about some wives don't fairly divide an estate it not only got me thinking about how Robyn would divide things, but also curious how it played out with Kody's dad and his 3 wives. On a side note, I sure hope that even though Wynn has passed, the Brown boys continue to go spend their summers on the farm helping out - there is no more wholesome place to be!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think that each of his wives held the property they lived on in their own name. I would then expect that the rest of the land went into a trust so that it would pass to the children - weren't all of Kody's siblings from his Mom since they waited to get into polygamy until later in life? I also do not think there was much money to worry about between the 4 adults.

      Delete
    2. I read that Winn established the land trust with a cousin as an equal partner. They were attempting to buy back all the land that had been held by their grandfather. According to the article, the trust was an unbreakable one so I have no idea how profits from the ranch (if there are any) would be distributed. 3 wives, 10 or 12 children, plus the cousin's family sounds like a lot of fingers in a small pie. bgee

    2. Collier cited this week's Supreme Court Decision in his reasoning. So, yes he wants bigamy to be legal. There was also mention that most of the people who practice polygamy want the lifestyle to be decriminalized instead of legalized. It stated that many people who are in this lifestyle do not want it to be regulated by legalities. In other words....they don't want the gravy train to end.

      Delete
    3. Well, there you go....marriage, as now defined by the supreme court is between one adult to another adult...not one adult to two other adults. I doubt that the supreme court will hear his case because the definition of marriage is set....a couple of adults not bigamy....it is monogamy.

      Delete
    4. The Collier marriage license application really interests me from a social sciences perspective. It will be interesting to see whether the US considers bigamy "a bridge too far". I know what I think--I wonder if I'm one of the majority or a "lunatic fringe" thinker. Time will tell! However this plays out, I wish no harm to befall the Colliers, and all safety and security for their children.

  66. Since the historical and long-held definition of marriage has now been changed in the U.S. and other countries around the globe--- you just had to know that it was not going to stop with same-sex couples.

To MrSpock marriage always meant one man/one woman so that the very definition of "marriage" has now become something else----like saying that birds also means dogs, or that apples also means oranges.

Therefore, MrSpock will not be surprised if others start coming forward wanting to be "married"---polygamists, someone wanting to marry their car or their cat, etc. etc.. Sounds impossible? MrSpock does not think so.

I have no clue how seriously Meri took it, but the big ol- slap-back that Robyn gave to this "relationship" irks me to no end. This family is a mess, but for the life of me, I cannot fathom why it is Robyn's job to tell anyone listening that "Sam" will most certainly NOT be showing up on their feel-good reality show...because:

      A. The Sam storyline is not about Robyn
      B. Meri is not allowed to have a life that doesn't somehow hinge on Robyn's choices
      C. If Meri goes out and has a life anyway, Robyn feels threatened because she is no longer "winning" at being the only self-satisfied, smug sister-wife.

At first, I wondered in awe how these women could live with someone like Kody. Now, I wonder how they can live with someone like Robyn.

  68. Mr.Spock, with a polygamIst already rolling in on the coattails of the SCOTUS ruling, I came to CJ's living room to see if it was up for discussion. Now, this is CJ's place and not mine, and I'll respect her sense of how the discussion will go. So I will say, with the utmost respect for you and everyone here, that I find it hurtful to compare a flippant notion like marrying a car or a cat to the deep, heartfelt love and commitment my dear cousin has for her wife (they adopted a foster child and are the most awesome family I've ever seen.) I'm delighted that my many gay friends can enjoy the same liberty under the law that my husband and I enjoy as a heterosexual couple. I'm DEEPLY thankful that my oldest son, should he meet the man of his dreams, be allowed to marry. These are actual people who simply want to be allowed to marry the person they love. They are adult human beings making a lifetime commitment to each other, just like I did. I hope that in our further discussions we can err on the side of courtesy and respect for each other.

    1. Redwood Curtain, I agree with you...and if there are conversations that intersect with the SCOTUS ruling, I hope that people will have those conversations with the utmost respect of all of us. I, too, have the utmost respect for so many in this room but I do hope that we can have these conversations and maintain our dignity and our respect for each other. There is no way a polygamists can compare his or her relationship that, as far as we all have seen, is hurtful and neglectful to the wives and children to the committed relationships and now marriages afforded our gay and lesbian friends and family.

    2. It isn't being flippant to discuss the serious flaws in the law. Spock is correct in her fear that the law is so poorly written that it will allow someone to marry their own sibling.

The AUB decries homosexuality as a sin that will result in eternal damnation. No homosexual can belong to their church and you sure don't see any homosexuals in any of the polygamist families. However, Kodouche has publicly stated that he supports gay marriage. It is completely self-serving. He doesn't believe in gay marriage, he believes that the passage of that law will allow him to legally marry all of his baby mamas.

If you read any of the dissenting opinions, you will see the 4 dissenting justices discuss the danger of the Supreme Court completely overstepping their bounds and violating the Constitution.

Everyone got so caught up in the emotion and the media generated hype that they failed to see the danger in such poorly written legislation and the danger of accepting the Supreme Court doing something that is essentially illegal.

And just for stating information like that I have been called a homophobe and a hater and some words I won't repeat. Way to much drama, far too little logical thought.

    3. Redwood Curtain, MrSpock's concern is overreaching by the Supreme Court and seriously wondering at its ability (inability?) to reign in their decisions based on its place in the checks and balances of our nation. While MrSpock's examples of marrying a cat or car are, of course, on the fringe, well, the barn door is now wide open as to a person's "liberty" interests under the Constitution and one can only wonder where this will go next. If love is the touchstone for the right to marry, then, it would seem, anything goes.

If polygamous marriages become the next "liberty" interest then what a mess it will be when it comes to sorting things out from a social/monetaryPOV: e.g., who gets SS benefits for survivors? If the man dies, are the women married to each other? Who inherits what? Who has the legal obligation for progeny? And on it goes.

MrSpock is predicting that the next lawsuits are just around the corner---including Collier's, which has already made the turn.

    4. With all due respect, the supreme court decision provides marriage equality between adults in the same fashion as before but it provides for same sex marriage. People still cannot marry their first cousins, brothers, sisters, moms, or dads. And, our rights to marry before the decision and after do not open the door for any form of animal plus humans. The decision that I read is clear and the right to marry afforded through the constitution is clear and there can be no misinterpretations of the law. While many are saying that for them marriage is between a man and woman....good for you and to that I say isn't it wonderful that in our country, you have that choice and have had that choice your entire adult life....and we might add that thanks to the supreme court, those who don't choose marriage between a man and a woman but between the same sex can marry and be afforded the same rights afforded to hetero couples. I remember when a mixed marriage was illegal in these USA states and finally the supreme court had to intervene and provide a new definition of what marriage was back then and guess what, we all lived and we all grew to say that's fine...we will also grow as more and more same sex couples are given equal rights to marry and have families and all of that good stuff that we heteros take forgranted. I think with the climate of the far right, putting animal and same sex in the same sentence is, even if it might be an allegory, not such a good idea.

  69. Redwood Curtain. I second your sentiments and find the comparison that some are making between same sex marriage and bestiality disgraceful and ignorant.

I strongly support same-sex marriage and love and admire my gay and lesbian friends who have fought so hard for equality in this country. I also respect that others do not share my feelings and recognize that their opinions are often centered in deeply-held religious beliefs that are unlikely to change because of a political movement or SCOTUS ruling.

For my part, I will continue to pray that the hate and fear-mongering ends and that those who claim religious conviction embrace God's commandment to love their neighbor and will learn to leave the judgment to God and God alone.

    1. The comparison to marrying an animal was hyperbole to emphasize how poorly constructed the law is. It wasn't disrespectful nor ignorant.

It is not hate nor fear-mongering to express a differing opinion. At what point in this country did we decide that if someone doesn't agree with our personal opinion then it's hate?

Read the actual text of the court majority opinion and then read the dissenting opinions and you might understand the point of the comment.

  70. My Grandmother once told me there were two topics that should be avoided when having a conversation in a public setting. One was the topic of religion. The other topic was politics. As usual, Grannie once again was right.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion of the Supreme Court Same Sex Marriage Ruling, but I'd rather not have differences in opinions escalate to fisticuffs in my living room. So let's end it now, and agree to disagree.

    2. CJ,
I agree with you that politics and religion are topics best left outside of our little world here. I like that with our discussions about POLYG, we can discuss and critique the religious aspects in a logical and objective conversation. I love that when the heat is on, you step up and end the controversy because we all know that each of us have our own politics and our own religion and try as we may, we just cannot convince others to have our worldview. LOL. So thank you for stopping what was sure to head into name calling and un-friending...well...we cannot unfriend but you know what I mean....BTW could you please, please, please see about getting us a like button so we can like posts. And, HAPPY DAY BEFORE INDEPENDENCE DAY.

  71. Sorry, Cynical Jinx... I was writing this post while you posted the above. Hopefully you'll let it stay. I promised to keep my mouth shut after this. :)

Let me chime in as one of the Canadians Cynical Jinx referenced above. In Canada, same-sex marriage has been legal across the country for the last decade, and considerably longer in some provinces. It's also worth noting that it was our Conservate government that ushered in this equality reform. In the meantime, I've only seen people become considerably more open and accepting of LGB people... And finally now trans people are beginning to be accepted more fully in our society with few people blinking an eye.

I know very few people who are against the idea of equal marriage in Canada. Oh, they exist of course, but they are few and far between, and even our most right-wing media are dismissive of their insistence in instilling their beliefs onto others. Conversely, religious views are respected... No one would expect the Catholic Church in Canada perform a same-sex wedding. However, most Canadian faiths now welcome LGBT members into their fold. Perhaps it's the basic Canadian nature, which tends to be pretty live-and-let-live. Most people know of at least a few same-sex couples, most of whom tend to be married these days.

In fact, it sometimes comes as a shock to some straight friends to realize that this anti-marriage attitude still prevails at all in the Western world. People have been genuinely surprised to hear that my partner and I could not get legally married in Mexico, where his family and most his friends live. (We have been together 9 years; six years ago I sponsored him as my spouse to become a permanent resident in Canada.) We have held off on our wedding, wanting to make sure his family could share, but equal marriage bans only recently were declared unconstitutional by Mexico's Supreme Court... a couple weeks before SCOTUS made their decision, in fact. There are still laws to be rewritten, but we are finally able to start planning our wedding surrounded by family, friend and loved ones in one of the most religious and "macho" countries in their world, a wedding which will be recognized in both his homeland and mine.

Which bring me to my point, which underscores Jinx's. Over 20 other countries now allow equal marriage, several for over a decade now, and they count among their numbers some of the most religious (particularly Catholic) countries, including Spain, Ireland and Mexico.

And Canada. Over ten years, tens of thousands of gay couples and parents have been married and have come together to share their lives. Canada has only become a more beautiful place. I think of the mothers of my goddaughter, who were wed in the United Church 20 years ago, and then legally married 10 years ago, on their 10th wedding anniversary.

During that time, we have heard those same old (to us) arguments about siblings getting married, people marrying their pets, straight roommates marrying each other to get the benefits marriage provides, and yes, polygamist marriage being legalized (we do have Bountiful and their polygamous compounds, after all!)

None of that has even remotely begun to come about. LGBT weddings don't even raise an eyebrow. Love, and committed relationships, do win out.

Sadly, that isn't the case with most polygamous relationship models I've seen, especially ones with children involved. Marriage between two consenting adults does not open the door to incest, bestiality or polygamy. It does open the door to a more cohesive, accepting and affirming society, as Canada and many other nations have shown for these many years. Welcome to the table, America!

  72. So Robyn's JYD was 'hacked', the story posted about the future of the family/show was 'all made up', and we can expect pics of Meri and her 'twitter friend' to emerge of them together.

    Um ok.

I have 40 acres of beautiful ocean front property in Arizona to sell you gullible fans too.

Geez, TLC, is watching all this sociopathic drama not bothersome to you? Why keep these people on air? Robyn, a title character, now has goons that watch social media all day and make up FB and Twitter accounts to spread outright lies. Is that how you want to draw 'fans'?

I personally would like to see more "all about Christine" or "all about Janelle" shows. Robyn is out of control and has let 'pseudo-fame' go to her head.

Cancel this show. Nobody cares anymore. If people cared, there would be no need to create fake accounts, post fake stuff, and delete anybody and everybody who calls out the B.S.

    Thank you. Rant over.

    1. Oh yes Anon 8:35PM, I can tell you a LOT of people are noticing what's going on between the new legal Mrs Kody Brown, her JYD and GGs assistant (now referred to as his business partner). Those are serious allegations that someone admitted committing. So again, you're not alone.

These shenanigans are making the folks living in that cul-de-sac look like utter fools.

  74. Back to the topic, does anyone notice Meri's suitor bears an uncanny resemblance to Jay Cutler who also happens to live in Chicago.
