    4. I've read that when she first met Mohamed overseas, she told him rather than buy her daughter shoes she used the money to buy the ticket to visit him! Not a very bright lady.

    5. It's so scary how she clings to him! I can't help but feel sorry for the guy that he picked the wrong lady to run his scam on. How can he not literally feel like he's being smothered to death? And when her daughter said that one wedding dress looked like Shrek...Holy cow! I hate to say this but TLC can use Dani's family to replace Honey Boo Boo easily.

  10. M5W is alternating between incredibly boring and completely unbelievable. The women are still nearly indistinguishable, and the common theme seems to be how marketable their numerous talents are. Oh, and Brady humble-brags about how successful his business is.

I think that TLC programmed it after TLC to increase its ratings.

    2. I totally agree, Anonymous 8:20PM: so bored with it that I let hubby turn on his football game! I also don't like knowing about baby Huck's early birth when they are still showing episodes with ultrasounds. Due to the circumstances, the powers that be should realize the viewers would find this out and would appreciate the script to be altered somehow. I know they film months in advance, but couldn't they do a cutaway or something to update?

      Delete
    3. Totally agree Anonymous 12:10, it is so heartbreaking to see the NICU pics of baby Huck on facebook, and the juxtaposition of the family on the show, not realizing what'll happen. Good to hear the baby is doing much better though!

  11. I found tonight's My 5 Wives episode to be better than previous episodes. I feel like the women are trying to figure out who are they are beyond being baby makers. Let's face it, many women go through this when they near 40, especially if they have been a stay at home mom. I also was quite surprised at Rhonda's paintings....if those are really hers, she is good and I wish her well writing children's books. It may be a marketable skill but if it is something she feels some satisfaction for, go for it. At least she is attempting it.

I think they are also getting more comfortable in front of the cameras. They laughed more and Paulie smiled more than she has previously. I think Rosemary is funny but you sometimes you have to be paying attention.

I certainly have never posted this much before....I'm sure my views are in the minority but oh well. I'd rather Rhonda pursue a dream writing and illustrating children's books than chase after a band like others we watch via TLC.

Funny you bring this up. Last week Maddie tweeted about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. How ironic that Maddie's own mother and bonus moms are subsisting at the lowest level of the Needs pyramid - surviving but definitely not thriving (the next step includes financial security which the Browns clearly are not financially stable).

Rhonda, on the other hand, is a polygamist woman who apparently is using her artistic abilities to better herself. She's clearly on the way to self-actualization - the top of the Needs pyramid.
I doubt the Brown Sister Wives would ever reach that level in a hundred lifetimes, not with that albatross named Kody around their necks!

      Delete
    2. Had no idea Maddie tweeted about that. My husband begrudgingly watches these shows with me. After last night's episode, he essentially said that despite the culture that puts the man fully in control, at least what is aired, he felt Brady is at least trying to encourage Rhonda and if she were married "to the clown" this wouldn't be happening. Husband thinks it's all bizarre, however.

    3. Just a quick correction - It's Robyn who is pursuing the book writing and illustrations. Rhonda is the medical assistant/breast cancer risk/adopt a baby/juvenile diabetes wife.

    4. yes....you're right.....Robyn

    5. I get those ladies confused all the time!! Thanks for the clarification!!

It's Robyn who's the artist/writer storyline. Rhonda is the mammogram/adoption storyline.

    6. Regarding Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and polygamous women, I'd venture that all both the Williams wives and the Brown wives are stuck at the third level--the need for belonging, and that is what motivated all the subsequent wives to become involved in plural marriage. It may not be a motivator for Paulie Williams and Meri Brown, because as first wives they could not have known for certain that other wives would come (even if they discussed it in advance and agreed to practice plural marriage). Until that need for belonging is satisfied, the higher order needs, self-esteem and self-actualization, are beyond their grasp. I agree that Robyn should be encouraged to continue with her writing and that she might develop some self-esteem from doing so--as long as she doesn't hamstring herself in a desire to belong to her group of sister wives. If Robyn suspects, even subconsciously, that success as a children's author will bring ostracism from her sister wives, she might unknowingly suboptimize her talents so that she will fail, thus remaining "just one of the girls". And that would be a real pity!

  16. Does anyone know if these are real people on 90 Day Fiance who were already involved in this process, or was it scripted for TLC? I am interested in the fact that someone said Danielle was previously involved in some dating scam. It's weird because her family is always saying they're watching Mohamed "like a hawk" when, really, they should have been watching Danielle and making sure she didn't get sucked into something like this again, and expose her children to more of this insanity. There's clearly something not quite right with this woman, and she might even be considered unfit as a mother.

    1. I think these are real people. I do worry about Danielle being possibly mentally disabled and her kids being exposed to a younger man like Mohamed. I am uncomforable with this after the HBB incident. I know not all younger men are predators on teenaged girls...however, the optics of the situation make TLC look bad for not vetting this. A woman who clings to a man who clearly has no real interest in her, cries at the airport, drags her daughters through this drama is clearly not mentally capable to be in this relationship or possibly to even be a fit parent. I don't like them dragging kids through their 90 day engagement, TLC needs to nix that for future storylines.

  17. I don't get it. They are basically people who found out too late their religion was not right in all their practices so they left. One thing wrong about it was polygamy. They are only practicing it cause they are tied together. I am really sick of the they won't talk to me because I'm a polygamist for adoption purposes. Utah is notorious for being underhanded in getting infants away from bio dads for adoption purposes. They relocate the mom, have the mom lie about her due date and location of birth so they don't their papers filed on time and in the right state. And now the Supreme Court in their state require unmarried dads who wish to assert rights and contest the adoption to also prove financial capabilities. All because there is a shortage of children. Every state there is a shortage of children compared to the number of couples waiting for a first or second child. And this woman with 4-20 some children calling her mom wants more? Unemployed. Even working could not show on paper she could support a family of 6. If she wants to not be considered polygamist she doesn't look good on paper for this. If she wants to be considered as having a spouse he just filed for bankruptcy and doesn't look good on paper either. We don't get the number of kids we expect to get to parent. Further what birth mom and dad would be thrilled to place their child in a polygamist household? The whole reason for placing is not having the family structure they want and proper finances. This family isn't all that more stable. The world thankfully isn't full of flu that wipes out hundreds of thousands of adults of childbearing age leaving orphans behind. She be better off hiring a gestational carrier or getting pregnant herself if she wants another one.

  18. Okay, I watched.......!! Soooo thankful for FF and DVR.

Ummm........Is TLC *really* going to drag out the Rhonda adoption saga like they did the Meri/Sobbin surrogate sham?? Sure looks like that is the plan. How many sound bites and teasers can they milk from this ridiculous premise? Will this be a recurring theme tossed into every episode this season. Didn't TLC learn anything from SW and faux baby plots, and too long, too dragged out plots that are never going to happen and are a turn off to viewers.
I agree with Anon 3:14,.if Rhonda wants to add #25 to Bradytown, then she should just get pregnant. Nonie and Rhonda can check each other's pg tests.
And for Rhonda to wax nostalgic about how as a kid, she thought adoption was "awesome"...well, I thought it would be "awesome" to be John Lennon's girlfriend.
Awesome is easy to conjure up when you are a kid. And not when you are an adult single Plyg with 5 kids in a small apartment and no job.

And that scene of Rhonda telling her kids about adopting another kid and where it would sleep sure was reminiscent of Kody telling his kids that they were moving in three days,
The kids have to sit there with cameras rolling and be surprised. Are we to believe that no kid in her house or the other four houses didn't see the previous episodes where adoption was already a storyline ??

Good for Robyn and her book. Her artwork is quite good for children's books. But pulleeze get that poor women some therapy, or at the very least some good self-help books.
She looks like she would shatter if you said "boo."

And I want to know just what criteria and vetting the Secret Service does or did on would-be agents if Brady's loony, out-there father was a Secret Service agent. ???!!!
It is obvious that TLC is *already* bankrupt for ratings-grabbing, interesting stories with Brady and his oh, so bland babes. So by the looks of the previews, they are now forced to sign up Brady's dad for color. Hope he wears underwear this season.

Well, guess what? I'm still trying to finish the "pamphlet" but that is exactly what he was. He was a member of the uniformed services - you know, the guys who sit at a desk checking ID all day. He never directly protected President Nixon nor did he have contact with the President. That was the responsibility of the Plainclothes Secret Service Agents.

It's all making sense now. The man is truly looney tunes. But I want to leave the good stuff for my book review...I promise it will be short but sweet...

  19. I agree with everything you said, Amused.

What bothered me about Rhonda's telling her kids about adoption is that she's nowhere closer to actually adopting a child. She called several agencies, supposedly, and they all hung up on her, because she stated she was a polygamist. Then, she gratuitously retold her trauma to another sister wife, insisting that the agencies didn't know her or her family to judge her. (That's the Browns' party line.)

Regardless - one agency didn't flat out reject her. It said that it would send her paperwork. That doesn't translate to a guaranteed adoption. To gather her children and ask what they'll sacrifice to accommodate their future adoptive sibling based on her interpretation of that remark is ludicrous and unfair to the biological children. I'm sure it will result in a season of tears for the adoptive child she didn't have, after she's rejected based on that paperwork.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep, Grifter, seems like every storyline is a guarantee for some tear sessions. Rhonda appears to be the head weeper for now, with poor Robyn as her understudy.

So far, between last season and this one, we had and still have Nonie crying because her pg tests aren't showing a stork icon, Rhonda and her mammo scare and then tearing up for an "awesome" childhood dream to adopt, Paulie weepy because she didn't mean to hurt Rosemary, Rosemary wet-eyed because Paulie did hurt her, Robyn crying every other scene from what seems to be chronic anxiety and fear....while Brady is the suffering hero of his harem handing out tissues and offering Zen lines.
Sure makes that FF button a necessity in order to try to watch this show.

      Delete
  20. All the woman needs to do is go online and fill in a request for information. She doesn't need to call and get teary eyed and get hung up on like a prank. Someone has to not parent their child due to financial difficulties or health for her to adopt but she is entitled to parent a fifth thinking she is going to die of breast cancer every year, not working, while working making no where near enough to support a family of 6 or she is being persecuted for being a polygamist? It doesn't make sense. You don't get the number you want. She is better off finding a surrogate. There are too many couples and true singles for the few available. The stats are very misleading. Most the kids are temporarily in foster care and end up with a relative or back at home or abroad and being raised in feeding centers but have live parents. The notion they should be with this lady who has 4, sort of 24 and counting because she wants one is ludicrous. She needs to have a baby or try a surrogate. Another area where there are not enough to meet demand. It's about a child who lost a family going to a family that isn't going to go away, like from breast cancer. It's about a child who lost a family not going without. Attention, material needs, medical treatment.. If she wants the world to consider her husband then we also have to see the bankruptcy. If she wants the world to consider her polygamist family as ideal we also have to see a family size way too large, there are some places that have an actually number of children allowed to be in the home already. If she wants us to see your polygamist family as the applicant then we have to see a father figure who spends twenty percent of his time with his wives and days divided among twenty some children. For a child who lost that doesn't help with their security and attachment. If she wants us to see her as single she needs to make more and have less kids. There are not kids just sitting on a bed waitng to fulfill someone's wish to add another bed to the house. If she wants us to consider her as a single parent we need to know the likelihood of her living until her children reach 18. They should not be rehomed yet again. I wish everyone had the number of kids in the timing they wanted them.

  24. Never thought I would say this...........but bring on SW !!
At least Kodyworld has snark-worthy content.
Well, it *does* if you contrast it to the numbing waste of DVR space of Bradyville !!

TLC, you DO watch this blog and others, that much is obvious. So you too must see the almost zero interest in the Brady Bunch. You must know by now that this family is simply not going to generate a fan base or loyal viewers. You have tried the SW formula, can't miss that effort, but it simply is not working with these people....or with your producer-driven plots.

Brady is not wacky and eccentric like Kody, yet his "tender' and philosophical side is not believable either. He comes off as a Class A passive /aggressive manipulator (needs better acting coaches, perhaps?)
The wives are just boring, uninteresting and not camera-savvy, It is like watching light fading. (B-12 shots, maybe?). DO they understand what you (TLC) need and want from them in these contrived storylines to guarantee the paychecks? Doesn't appear so !!

At least SW has personalities that do generate aggravation and discussion.
The Brady-ees provoke FF and elimination from the DVR setup.

    1. I agree about not bringing the kids into the fake storylines. There was no reason for Rhonda to tell her kids about the potential adoption. Although by the way they reacted, I suspect they were told in advance and that is why they were pleasant and ok with it.

I do like that they appear to get along better than the Browns. They do laugh a lot. But...the storylines are boring and I am not buying Brady's 'Mr Sensitive" act.

ITA agree that is why some wives are featured more prominently than others. Some cant 'sell' the story as well as Rhonda. Do we really think Robyn got her book to the publisher and then got a phone call where they reject her that quickly? And it just happened to take place when she was watering her garden and Brady was close by? All of the phone calls are staged and obviously not happening in real time.

And, it bothers me that Rhonda quit her job and Brady is talking like he has plenty of resources to take care of his large family but we all know they filed bankruptcy. So, to me, having Rhonda quit her job seems stupid given their financial situation.

    2. CPA Carol,
Agree about using the kids for the "Ohhh" factor. The more they do it, the more desperate they look for ratings.
SW didn't resort to that ploy right away. Bradyville went for almost immediately and it shows how hollow their show's agenda is over at TLC.

The schoolgirlish laughs and giggles are annoying for the simple fact that they seem to come from acute discomfort and self-consciousness in front of the camera, rather than from authentic adult interaction. Not believable...and FF material !!

And yeah, the "perfectly" timed phone calls. Pure BS !!!
Canned and finely tuned BS...right out of the SisterWives playbook of TLC's "How to Film a Plyg Show." !!!

The Williams live in a community of many polygamist families???? But since they left the church they are being shunned??? Right?

If so....why on earth would you have a bake sale of car wash to raise money from people that are not fond of you???? Was it me or were they going around about way telling people at the Bake Sale that they were raising money for a "MIssion" even though it is for a "Self-volunteer trip". I commend their daughter...but its not a 2 year Mission trip.

Does Robyn's son not go to school with other Polygamist kids? Why would they bully JUST him? I'm not saying he isn't being bullied.....but I don't think its because he is from polygamist parents. But nice try for a story line.

For the same reason that TLC had Sobbin and Co. take the Closet Junk to a large vender show out of state where plyg life is not embraced.

Footage of lack of business or better yet, a couple of clips with anti-plyg sentiment = the all important and compelling "poor us, we are discriminated" angle for ratings.

    2. Amused, St George is the city Robyn Brown used to live and where her mother and friends live. It is also where poligamists from Centennial Park, Colorado City and Hildale shop and go to restaurants bowling and Walmart. The people who own businesses in St George realize a poligamists dollar is just as green as a not poligamist so your saying that poligamy is not embraced there is not correct.

    3. why on earth would you have a bake sale of car wash to raise money from people that are not fond of you????
The car wash was at Payson Market (from the signage on the building) which is in Payson Utah. I think that's also where the bake sale was filmed. This makes sense as according to Google Map, Rocky Ridge Utah (where the Williams live) is mainly the AUB church, housing and a cabinet factory. Rocky Ridge is located near I-15 between Mona and Santaquin Ut. Payson UT is further up the road from Santaquin.

Does Robyn's son not go to school with other Polygamist kids?
I think the only school in Rocky Ridge is probably run by the AUB, so that would be no. Plus his mother mentioned that he was being bullied because his family was plural. So I would think that meant he was bullied by kids from non-plural families.

For the same reason that TLC had Sobbin and Co. take the Closet Junk to a large vender show out of state where plyg life is not embraced.
I agree with Anon 4:32 in that a lot of polygamists spend a lot of money in St. George - just from the photos taken of FLDS women in prairie dresses and hairdos shopping in St George Walmart and supermarkets. Also, in Polygamy USA it was noted St George was where the polygamists of Centennial Park did their shopping (nail salon, Hyrum's bachelor party etc). And of course, it is where Robyn Brown used to live.

Also I believe it was a St George farmer's market that banned Kristyn Decker from selling her anti-polygamy book a couple of years back because of "complaints" they received. So if you ask me, it looks like St George is pretty complacent with the "lifestyle".

    4. Anon $:32 and CJ,
      I stand corrected. Sorry.
I think I remember the footage of a woman at that vender show giving her opinion on plygs.
Apparently she is *not* the norm there.
