It's Wednesday and I'm Still Working on the Reviews!!!

Yep, like the title says, my last three reviews are STILL in process.

I suppose if I had a punching bag I could have had those reviews done quicker, but I don't. And my Kindle is much too precious to me to get thrown, in disgust, on the floor while watching the episodes Sister Wives on Amazon.com.

So I appreciate y'alls patience while I try to crank out something decent. Yeah, I said crank, because watching these fools on TV is making me very, very, cranky. I'll explain in the review.

Also, I notice that the latest Twitter Party posting has reached the point where you have to (or least I have to) click on the "Loading" link to see the additional pages of comments.

Here's a new posting where you can continue your comments without having to 1) Scroll Down Forever just to find out you have to 2)Click the "Loading" link just to have to 3) Scroll Down Forever, again.

But First...

Las Vagrants wrote a comment that, unfortunately, takes about 2 clicks on the "Loading" link to finally see. Here's the comment, and my response. Feel free to add your response below!!!

I'm so confused about all of this "restructure" business. Maybe someone familiar with the religion might know?

Isn't the 1st wife considered a permanent status? Do they normally need the church's blessing to divorce and especially since the divorce appears to be based on a secular (supposedly) issue, not because Meri deserved it by sinning or something.

So much of what's presented is like the sanitized version or maybe more accurately, a view of plural marriage without all the religious strings attached. They don't live together. They act like they barely interact unless it's for a episode.

Is Kody the prophet for this mini church? Do they still even follow the AUB principles?

Just curious if anyone might know..

My Response:

This is my opinion: The divorce between Kody and Meri was meant to be a SECRET. The remarriage was DEFINITELY suppose to be a secret.

Of course, once the story broke and everyone within reach of the internet and the Clark County Family Court and Civil Court database websites could SEE the divorce and marriage entered into those court records, Kody had no choice but to make a hastily made statement claiming he had "legally restructured" his family.

Kody using the term "restructure" or "legally restructured" was just his doublespeak for his real thoughts: "I'm doing what I damn well please. And right now, I want Robyn to be my legal spouse. So Meri, it's been a great 25 years but it's time for Robyn to be my lawfully wedded wife....even though I might look like a hypocrite since my religion teaches that God's Law is above Man's Laws, but I'm Kody Brown and that doesn't matter anyway. Not here in Las Vegas." And the rest is history.

Isn't the 1st wife considered a permanent status? Yes it is. Meri will always be Kody's 1st wife.

Do they normally need the church's blessing to divorce and especially since the divorce appears to be based on a secular (supposedly) issue, not because Meri deserved it by sinning or something. The way I understand it, Meri was Kody's first wife, his legal wife (Man's Law) as well as his spiritual wife (God's Law). Since under Man's Law, only one woman can be a legal wife, Janelle, Christine and Robyn were Kody's spiritual wives only (God's Law).

In the AUB (the Church the Browns are members of) a "spiritual" wife can petition the ruling Priesthood Council for a "release" from her spiritual marriage, so that she could be free to become another man's spiritual wife. So, in the case of Meri, she legally divorced Kody BUT she has not asked for a "release" so she is still spiritually married to Kody. And remember, in the AUB, God's Law trumps Man's Law.

To finally answer your question, I don't believe the AUB is happy about the bad publicity generated by the legal divorce, but Kody and Meri are still spiritually married to each other so no harm no foul.

So much of what's presented is like the sanitized version or maybe more accurately, a view of plural marriage without all the religious strings attached. They don't live together. They act like they barely interact unless it's for a episode.

That's because polygamy is not pretty, whether the wives are living together in one home or they live in  separate houses. I think National Geographic's Polygamy USA was a good representation of plural marriage BUT it was still greatly sanitized for monogamist's consumption. And Polygamy USA was very quick to admit plural marriage was not for everyone, that it was basically a difficult life that a few "lucky" people were called to endure in order to reach salvation in the afterlife. Definitely different from Kody Brown's simplistic lie that "Love should be multiplied and not divided." On another documentary about Centennial Park (where Polygamy USA was filmed) a plural wife made the point of saying they do NOT marry for love, because love is fleeting. They marry for eternity and are very discerning of the man they choose to marry. Frankly, I doubt Kody Brown would have made the cut for a wife if he was a member of Centennial Park's polygamist group.

Is Kody the prophet for this mini church? As the husband, Kody is the Priesthood holder responsible for the religious instruction of his family members when they are unable to attend their Church regularly. I'll leave it at that because, frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the only time he holds "Church of Kody" services are when the camera's are present. Otherwise, he's busy doing "other things."

Do they still even follow the AUB principles? From what I've read, Kody picks and chooses the principles he follows. For instance, he's not supposed to show preference of one wife over another. But one thing that is preached is that the husband makes all the decisions for the family and Kody certainly has been shown doing just that - like when Christine "slipped" and mentioned how Kody has always wanted to live in Las Vegas. And the wives rarely are allowed to voice their own opinions, or as Kody puts it "Honor the entire family and I will love you." But he sure is Johnny on the Spot when it comes to collecting wives and having babies, isn't he? He may not know much about the children he has, but he sure knows how to make new ones, doesn't he?

Again, this is just my opinions.

Meri Brown Finally Issues a Statement!!

Meri getting flowers from the joker
On September 26th, I wrote:

Until Meri Brown makes a public statement, or a statement is issued from TLC or another legal entity including a valid news source such as CNN (for example), or mentioned in an episode of  Sister Wives, I prefer to keep my blog living room free from discussing this mess.

And then, on October 5th, Meri Brown released this statement posted on People.com:

"During an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year, I began speaking with someone online who turned out to be not who they said they were [...] I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances."
http://www.people.com/article/sister-wives-meri-brown-catfished-online-relationship

Now that Meri has "come clean" about this Twitter relationship gone bad, I've opened my blog up for discussion of this sorry "affair". However, I will insist on a very simple "rule" in discussing this topic.

Please do not validate the catfisher by using the many names attributed to him/her. Here in my living room I've referred to this person as George Glass, or even The Joker (along with a youtube video of that great song recorded by the Steve Miller Band).  I will continue this practice.

So if you do slip up, just resubmit your comment using  George Glass, or The Joker or even catfisher for that person's name. Thanks!

There were some comments I didn't post on the Live Tweet Party article. Blogger tends to get unstable when comments are over 200. I'll rewrite a sampling of them here on this posting. Feel free to add your comments/discussion below!

Laurakaye wrote:
CJ [...] would it be too time-consuming for you to post a timeline with regards to the Browns? [...] in real time, not Brown time. What's with the "wink" on [the joker's] blog?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to all my files, but you can use the "Blog Articles by Subject" on the right hand side at the top of the blog page. Most of the timeline was mentioned in the I Scour the Internet articles. You can also Search the Blog using keywords, for example "joker" or "catfish".

As for the meaning of the "wink", I think that's code for "You're about to read total BS".

Sara wrote:
On the [Joker's] blog he claims to have a sex tape with Meri [...] I'm afraid it will give me some sort of virus or something.

I don't think a sex tape is worth possibly getting an online dose of malware. Anyway, Meri is not a reality show "A-lister" like a Kardashian.

Mock Purity wrote:
[...] A new update of the catfish blog claims to have pictures and videos of Meri and her "lover" in bed [...] There are comments about the videos from people who supposedly viewed the videos. I call MAJOR BS [...]

I say major BS too. I agree with a lot of people that the Joker is doing all of this just for attention. And what kind of monster would keep 194 voicemails plus supposed sex tapes and then publish them publicly? Looks to me like that was the plan all along!

So, what do you think? Are you sympathetic to Meri's plight, or feel her admission was too little too late?

Let's discuss!

(PS...plenty has been written about the catfishing Joker George Glass. It's not necessary to reinvent the wheel by investigating what has already been investigated at length. Let's keep this discussion more on Meri Brown, how this will affect her standing on the show and her family and less on "players" in this drama who have never appeared on the show. Thanks!)

Review Sister Wives S09Ep05: Marriage Counseling Texas Style

Before I start my latest review, I just have a few questions to ask...you know, to get y'all into the spirit of this latest episode from the Kody and Robyn Show featuring a guest sister wife performance by Christine Brown with the other Two Original Wives in short cameos sitting on the interview couch.

First Question....

Who qualifies as a certifiable, 21st Century Neanderthal?

Second Question...

Who is a Narcissistic Jerk?

Third and Final Question....

Who (besides Robyn Brown) makes watching Sister Wives a cruel and unusual punishment which, in turn,  should make it a 3rd Class Felony, just like Polygamy?

Well, the answers are very simple...it's that Narcissistic Jerk of a Neanderthal, KODY BROWN!!

A face only a mother and four emotionally needy women could love

And Mr. Robyn Brown does not disappoint in this episode...nosiree...

So let's get started, shall we?

Of course, the episode has got to begin with the continuing saga of Kody adopting Robyn's children. Kody doesn't mention this, but two of Robyn's kids are already teenagers. If Kody and Robyn don't act fast, Dayton and Aurora will be old enough to vote, and that would take the wind out of this poorly thought out storyline straight out of Big Love.

Yep, and in eight minutes we get to see just how desperate Kody and Robyn are. Robyn is so "overcome" by desperation, she even has a well placed panic attack on the interview couch.

That marriage license is mine, MINE!! So back off, Sweetie!

That's OK, Robyn hon. I get it that you realize the audience isn't going to fall for this song and dance about why you and Kody had to get legally married. So I'm not surprised you "suddenly" couldn't breathe. And no, I don't have any sympathy that you're finding taking away your children's bio-father's parental rights isn't as easy as say, getting Meri to give up her legal marriage.

So even though Kody described Montana as having a "thriving Polygamist community" and was sure a local Judge would sympathize with Robyn's need to sever her ex's legal claim to his children, the newly married couple were shocked, SHOCKED that a Montana judge ruled since the children, Kody and his lovely missus Robyn are residents of Nevada, Nevada has jurisdiction in the matter, not Montana.

Living in the monogamy world is such a bummer, isn't it?

But you can bet your sweet bippy that once Kody's adoption plans goes through, and Robyn no longer needs to remain legally married to Kody, Robyn will never let go of that legal piece of paper called a marriage license as easily as Meri gave it up.

Nope. Ain't gonna happen.

Now to the segment where Kody and Christine go to Galveston for their 21st wedding anniversary.

Lord have mercy, this segment was absolutely horrific - like watching an accident happening and you just can't look away.

And who in their right mind would take their marriage counselor on their anniversary trip?

Well, the obvious answer is Kody, who shows how little he cares for Christine, the woman who brought six of his spirit babies into this world.

Some highlights:

Christine is jealous. Christine hates living in plural marriage. Translation: Christine has realized that sharing a man with three other women is not easy, if not impossible. But she already knew that - that's why she wanted to be the 3rd and last wife.

Oopsy, that didn't happen because Kody brought in a 4th wife. So sorry Christine. Welcome to the real world...and take those damn rose-colored glasses off!

Kody could barely hide his contempt for Christine. After a series of exercises that were facilitated by their marriage counselor, where Kody TOTALLY ignored Christine and did what he wanted to do despite her feeble protests that he needs to listen to her, Christine admitted to defeat, stopped protesting and just did whatever Kody wanted. And the marriage counselor said absolutely NOTHING.

And then the audience was allowed to see the ugly side of Kody, and his world of Polygamy. He tells Christine: "Honor the entire family and I will 'love' you".

Translation: Honor my family with Robyn, and I might tolerate you. For a while...

And all Christine did was to shake her head, yes. She said she was looking for love, and Kody said he was looking for a family foundation. And then he asked her...

"What can I give you in return so that we're, you know, we're a win-win marriage?"

If it was me instead of Christine, I would have screamed at the top of my lungs..."A DIVORCE, fool!" But Christine isn't me, and she is polygamy blueblood, a true born-in, a woman who has struggled in her marriage since the addition of wife #4. A woman still bearing the emotional scars from when her mother left polygamy and her family when Christine was a young child.

She asked Kody to trust her, that she loves her sister wives and the entire family. She begged Kody to trust her. And that was the saddest thing I've ever witnessed on a reality show. Her desperate pleas, was just so sad because you could tell Kody could care less about her. It was all about Kody, his wants and his needs.

And even as he tried to explain how much HE learned from the sessions, you could tell by the look on Christine's face it wasn't enough. She wants romance, and Kody doesn't, at least not with her.

Yep, looks like Robyn and her 'Honeymoon Experience' she talked about in Season 3 has won Kody's heart. Sorry Christine and the other Original Two wives. You lose.

It made me sick. Christine deserves more.
