Yep, the Living Room has been closed since the last episode of Sister Wives was broadcast.
Wasn't that a long time ago? YOU BETCHA!
In a nutshell, here is what has happened since the last show.
Aspyn got married.
Meri continued to add to her LuLaRoe empire by bringing daughter Mariah and her girlfriend, as well as Maddie into the fold.
Christine has joined LuLaRoe now, along with her daughter Mykelti.
Say whut? Isn't LLR rather passe now? Haven't most of the top sellers left for greener pastures?
Well, yeah. But we already know this family's motto has always been "A Day Late and a Dollar Short." Maybe this time things will work to their advantage.
Maybe...
But you could have knocked me over with a feather when it became public in June of last year that Kody and his Kodettes LEFT VEGAS for...wait for it...
FLAGSTAFF ARIZONA???
Wait a minute, they left the entertainment capital of the WORLD for sleepy time Flagstaff?
And you wonder why I took a break from this tomfoolery.
That's right, Kody is selling out....of the cul-de-sac, and has moved his family to scenic Flagstaff. The only thing that is bothering me now is, if the Kody Krew could make Las Vegas a snoozefest, what the heck are they going to make out of Flagstaff?
I mean, how much snow, and cold, and pine trees can their audience stand this season? The Grand Canyon is grand, but, c'mon.
Well, the good news is, knowing how TLC works, even though the move to Flagstaff has been announced, the audience most likely will not see this new saga until almost the end of the season.
Uh huh...But will there even be an explanation for the all real estate they've purchased in Flagstaff? Why did Christine purchase a home in Flagstaff? Why is Robyn in a million dollar rental? Why was all that acreage purchased (you know, where a Big House can be built like in Big Love) when wives are scattered hither and yon, mostly yon in northern Arizona.
Where in the world are Meri and Janelle in this mess?
SPOILER ALERT! Meri bought the B&B.
How are the Browns paying for all of this? Who knows? Who cares? But believe me, time will tell...Time will tell.
So while we patiently wait for the bottom to fall out...

DeleteI was checking out some tweets and noticed a number of tweeter watched 90Day Fiance. I've got to admit, I LOVED watching that show. Of course I had to tweet how Kody does have a bit of the male cast in him.

I agree C.J. There are certainly some correlations between the two shows. TLC is at the helm, so... One thing I noticed is fake weddings. I was really shocked with the Shelly wedding near the end of the 90 Day Season. Matt told her he was still married to another woman and it didn't bother her a bit. Then they were shocked the preacher backed out of the service. Well...without a valid marriage license, no preacher could perform that wedding. He would have been in jail. This reminds me of the plural marriages with Kody and his wives. Legalities do not bother Kody and they do not bother TLC. The show just blamed the preacher for not liking that Matt had lost his faith. Yeah, right.
DeleteI've replaced my CJ Living Room entertainment with the 90 Day Fiance reddit board. The biggest similarity I see is the FRAUD. So many contrived BS story lines in both of these shows!

I can't believe this storyline. Hey TLC, this doesn't make sense. We saw the episode on the "venture capitalists" for MSWC, where Kody made a fool of himself and now he's a successful businessman? Oh no. This looks like the producers are setting the stage to explain how Kody can afford the move to Flagstaff and all the real estate purchases while the McMansions sit unsold.

DeleteI saw Robyn and her girls when I was in flagstaff over the summer. I live in Phoenix and go regulrly during the summer. They are merchandising restaurants and candy store and bakery on Twitter for free dinners and cupcakes. That will end soon because it’s a small town and not as many places to frequent like in Vegas.

After reading this, I glanced at the nosuperheroyet twitter and website and I have to admit...TLC might want to hire this fish to do some episode scripting because there's quite a fantasy tale still going on in great detail!!

Meri: I have saved $10,000 that you don't know about. I plan to use it as part of a $40,000 down payment on the family house/B&B. But I need more money. Can the family lend it to me. No, you won't be partners in my business. This is MY business. I kinda sorta not really but maybe have a business plan. My goal right now is to just buy the dang house. I'll figure out the rest later. My mom may or may not sleep in a nice bedroom. My mom may or may not help run the B&B. Don't question me. But talk amongst yourselves and see if you can lend me the money. Okay?
Robyn: We all have to present a financial plan when we borrow money from the family. I had to do it. Janelle had to to it. Kody is all about the numbers. Numbers. That's him.
Kody: It just so happens that my business with Brian is finally doing well and I can lend you $40,000 from our profit from that business since it appears to be just sitting somewhere waiting for us to use it.
Christine: Sweetie, Meri, I don't like you and I want to be passive-aggressive and tell you that we all want to help you. I will use my little girl/calm voice to help you understand that you are asking the family for $20,000 and we kinda actually need to know that we are going to get that money back. Because, if you remember, you wanted the same monthly allowance that I get...but you don't have any kids at home and I still have kids at home and they have holes in their shoes and I'm still bitter about the fact that you get to live a posh life while we eat Ramen Noodles at my house - oh, and I babysit the other kids a lot. In fact, I keep a pack and play in my house. What do you do for the family?
Janelle: Meri, you spend a lot of time holed up in your upstairs. I guess you are selling clothing. Its really awesome and special that you sold enough LLR to make $20,000. if you are that successful, maybe we should nix the B&B idea and just jump into LLR. But I'll hug you (sorta) and rub shoulders with you to show you that we love you, but what we really want to know is if we will get a cut of the B&B profit. No? Then why do you want our money?
Kody: Hold up, everyone. I am a dummy. I don't have $40,000 to give to the family. I only have $20,000 and it has to go to taxes and Mariah's tuition. Sorry, Meri. Remember that I'll be 70 when my youngest child graduates. I am pitiful.
Meri: Fine. I don't need you all. I will pout and punish you and myself and show you that you will be sorry when you lose me. I'll go sell some leggings to make another $20,000. But, by the way, I want you to meet a stranger that I'm very close to. She was catfished also.

DeleteBest part of the episode was all of them on the couch and Christine repeatedly saying how horrible it was for the catfish to take advantage of the feelings people have when they "fall in love" to exploit them. Christine reiterated several times that the catfish took advantage of its victims falling in love--Kody was seething and Meri was pissed. No one on that couch spoke up and denied that Meri had fallen in love with someone else. I got a huge kick out of passive aggressive Christine stating the obvious but making both Meri and Kody furious in the process. The look on Kody and Meri's face while Christine said this was priceless. It was a nice touch on Christine's part to show sympathy while actually sticking a knife in both of them.

He pretends to be working on things just to keep Meri close and, in my opinion, torment her somewhat with the idea that there is hope for them as a couple. She is too stupid to get that he will never have an intimate relationship again with her. She is wasting her time.
Yes!!! I was loving that scene but didn't realize it was all Christine pushing that point. I guess I saw them all on the couch and assumed it was all of them. But now that you point it out, I see it!! And I love it. She's really good at that passive aggressive manipulation.

DeleteI thought her emphasis was odd, but I almost mistook it for sympathy for someone who got dumped by her husband of 20 years and is expected to suck it up for all eternity...
OTOH, Meri has had a long time to put a spin on the catfish incident, but instead of finding someone who will try to sell a story about how the real evil genius of the catfish is is convincing depressed women that their situation is hopeless, she scares up a lady who gets pink hair because she gets to go to Vegas and be on the TEE VEE.
Exactly Annie Mouse! So far Meri has only found victims who were single or recently separated women looking for love and romance online. Meri has yet to come up with a victim who was just looking for friendship (as Meri originally claimed was her situation). As Meri unearths these victims and they tell their stories I think it is backfiring for Meri. So far it has just reinforced that a romantic relationship between the catfish and victim is the common component.
Deletesince we know she got the B and B, Does anyone know what the nightly rate is to stay in one of the rooms. Seems like you would need a lot of guests to meet the mortgage and the upkeep on the place.

DeleteMeri has always stricken me as a cold, heartless, manipulative (expletive) and it seems that the truth is finally coming out. As long as Mariah got anything she wanted, who cares if the other 17 kids were wearing shoes that were falling apart.
As best as I can recall, all of the adult children have now decided to not practice polygamy and I've always found that a little odd. If one grows up in that culture/religion, wouldn't it make sense to want to continue practicing it into adulthood? There had to be a reason why the Brown young adults said "no way" and this sheds some light on one possible reason why.
Actually, I see at least one sister wife for Aspyn. Mitch is AUB "royalty", a brother of Rosemary Williams. He said he wouldn't force Aspyn to practice polygamy, but he didn't say he absolutely wouldn't consider additional wives. In five years, maybe...

ReplyDeleteWho needs to show bloody knees if not an attempt for sympathy/pity?! Reminded me of the time when Kody was hustling her out of the house to get the "legal" divorce and she said she was having a dizzy spell. I'm sure she has learned this type of behavior as an attention getting device.

ReplyDeleteThis whole thing about the house..ARGH!!! This could all have been avoided if she had come to them with a detailed business plan ready to go. Meri doesn't seem to want to put in the hard work. She has too much emotion and sentimental value attached to the house and she only wants it for personal purposes, not business purposes.
ReplyDeleteShe is being very selfish and not thinking about the family that she is still "wanting" to be a part of. And if the "equal equity partner" thing has been a thing since the beginning, why are some of these women *cough Meri cough* acting as if this is not already decided and a foregone conclusion? Meri at one point responded to a question about equal equity partners and she acted like she had never heard of the term before.
That last conversation about the house was just ridiculous.
Kody - "We don't have the money, you are thinking selfishly, we need to put food on the table. We can't do it know. Check back in the spring."
Meri - "I don't care, I want it know. You won't see me at any family functions because I need to make money to buy a house that I have no business plan for."
Without a business plan, she is basically just wanted to by a family heirloom for personal reasons that are of no benefit to anyone except her peace of mind. Seriously, most of this could be solved if she got a half-decent business plan together.
Maybe we finally know which mother-in-law does not get along with Kody?!
DeleteI always wondered after he made the cryptic comment about one of his M-I-L's not being a fan--he sure didn't hesitate to paint Meri's mom in a not so flattering light.
People posting on other blogs soon after Meri purchased the B & B claimed that Meri's mom sold her home and most likely helped Meri with the down payment (although the property deed is in Meri's name only). This is probably why Meri was so adamant her mom choose which room and even to what extent she pitched in with running it. It would be kind of hard to dictate terms to her mom if she helped make the down payment. No wonder Meri said her mom might just "live there" and not work!
It also make sense why Meri wouldn't want the family as "profit partners" or whatever that babble was--which sounded suspiciously like lingo thrown around in their MLM pyramid schemes! I doubt if Meri's mom would be on board with the profits going to the family if the mom put in 50% of the down payment/equity and is there to "help" Meri run it. Meri just wanted to use the family for some quick cash with no strings attached. I wanted to laugh when she kept saying that it was a "short term" loan and she would immediately pay it back. She didn't even have a plan to run the business - how was she going to pay back that much cash quickly?!
It is hard to have any sympathy for Meri regarding her sense of urgency in buying the house. It's not like the owner even had it on the market. There is NO other potential buyer...t's in the middle of nowhere....who else is the owner going to sell it to?!
ReplyDeleteIt's a private sale arranged by the owner, who reached out to Meri. Another example of Meri being manipulated. Meri probably hadn't thought about the house for years until the owner contacted her and invited her to come see it again....then suddenly because the owner was willing to sell it to Meri (only because "it felt right") Meri needs to have the house immediately. Meri treats the situation like it is a crisis. It reminds me of the faux crisis Meri created when she and Mariah potentially couldn't move into their Las Vegas home before Christmas. Meri loves to bring on the drama.
This situation again illustrates how easily Meri is manipulated, you think she would have learned her lesson after the catfish. This just feels like she was catfished into buying her "ancestral home."
Maddie and Caleb are expecting their second child. Congrats to the young ones.
